Can anyone offer any advise......? I have a 4 month old who just sems to hate taking milk. He has gaviscon as he has reflux and was doing fine on the gaviscon but all of a sudden its like hes refusing to have milk anymore....is this just a behaviour thing or can babies just get bored of having milk and just refuse to have it or is he needing something in addition to gaviscon? i dread giving him his bottle as its such a battle. The first 2ozs are fine then he kicks, wriggles and pushed the bottle away. Any ideas?

Speak to your GP, i had a baby charge that did this and it was found that he had issues with that brand of milk, new milk and he was glugging like a trooper.

Ruthiestar, my ds did this as well although he started refusing milk at about 6 weeks....
He is now 7 months and to be honest I've never really solved this problem..Some days are much better than others. He's now on solids so I've stopped worrying so much...
It could be a phase your ds is going through or it could be the brand of formula or even the type of teat or maybe even behavioural. Sorry not to be of more help...

Hi, My baby is now 8mths old and he had bad drinking habits, its been a problem since he was born and has not been completley fixed. He has seen speech pathologists and doctors but there was no real answer. It was said that he had a feeding disorder... (meaning) he had a very poor suck, was un corodinated with sucking and breathing. he was rated at the stage of a 1mth old when he was 5mths. Before he was 6mths old he had never drunk more than 100mls ( i mean not a drop over 100mls) he is now taking about 130 to 150 but no more.
It was a big struggle and very stressful, we would hate knowing when feed time was coming we would be up for a screaming match. But it gets easier so stay focused and be calm, once he was on solids things became much easier if he doesnt want milk we offer him solids (although we need to keep an eye to make sure he is getting enough fluid).. hope this helped happy to chat again. let me know how you go

Ruthiestar,
My dd is doing this also, tho have tried several different brands of formula - she prefers C&G. She is 4 1/2 months old and has been refusing feeds for the last 2 weeks. She is only having about 12-15 oz a day but seems happy and is putting on weight. Unfortunately it seems to be having an effect on sleeping at night - she was sleeping 7-11, then having a feed and sleeping through till 7. Now she's up at 4ish, not really hungry, just wanting to play. Know this is of no help, but just wanted to let you know you were not alone in the battle of the bottle. DD certainly does not take after her mother!

Teething? Might not want a bottle with sore gums?
