How much milk should a 9 month old be having?

She's on 3 meals a day now but has completely lost interest in bottles and only has about 12 oz at the most every day. Is this okay?

should be having around a pint, which i think is 18oz
but that can include milk in her food

around 20 ounces inclusive of milk with cereal, milk in cooking/foods and any dairy products e.g. yoghurt, cheese, ice cream, etc i.e. it doesnt all have to be in the form of a drink

She's having cheese sauce, milk on cereal etc but am worried that she's refusing bottles. Only 2 a day now and she leaves a lot of both of them.

my dd only had 2 bottles at that age too and I remember going to the hv in tears as I didnt think she was getting the right nutrition. She basically said you cant force them to take it in the bottle and to 'hide' it wherever you can and give them plenty of milk substitutes. Some days she took more than others so it evened out a bit.

ironmaiden, you said on another thread that she eats very well... you could try reducing the food so that she takes mroe milk.

she should still be getting the majority of her nutrition from milk...

goldstarlover i dont think most of the nutrition should come from milk, shes at an important stage to develop her palette to like "food" and milk can stiffle appetite.

asthe others say milk in cheese sauces/cheese/yogurts are just as good as the fluid intake (whish is probably formula ?? at nine months)

I'm concerned that dd might have some kind of mild lactose intolerance, she had a terrible rash last week and after various opinions about what it might be I decided to cut out all newly introduced foods. I cut out petit filous and it seems to be going away. I'm not certain it's that but just don't want to risk it at the mo, so can't really give milk products in abundance really.

my dd3 is having 21/2-3 bottles a day she is 81/2 months . i have just started to get concerned but i think that this is the norm tbh. they are just getting used to filling up on food. try giving her a bottle before her meals this seems to help me . or maybe an hour after her meals?

I offer a bottle every hour all day, she wont touch it til bedtime and even then it's a battle!

if it was lactose intolerance it would have been picked up by now as formula contains lactose. Maybe it was the petit filous itself rather than other milk-based products.

I would also stop offering a bottle every hour as that could be putting her off too. Offer maybe 2 (morning and evening) or 3 (morning, mid afternoon and evening) and see how it goes.

Have you tried offering in a sippy cup along with a meal rather than in a bottle?

Yeah, sippy cup is getting better, for a while she wouldn't touch it! I've discovered she likes heavily diluted Tropicana! Hadn't thought of putting milk in a sippy cup tho, how dumb am I?
