Hi, my ds is 4 months, am exclusivly bf. Need to loose a stone in weight, have tried cutting out bad foods, but still haven't lost any weight! Want to start exercising but unsure if it will effect my milk, has anyone any experience of this?

Thanks

Good for you exclusively bf, (not enough do it now, yadda yadda)I began to lose weight when my ds was around 3 months, (also exc. bf)now I'm a stone lighter than I was when fell pg, and was that weigh for about 4 yrs. Have you seen a difference in your weight since giving birth? If so, hold off as you may start to lose more now. I'm off to watch C4!

Just make sure and wear a sturdy bra as they may be heavier than before!

As far as I'm aware there are no problems although I would make sure that you don't get dehydrated - drink lots of water as breastfeeding is thirsty work in itself - let alone doing star jumps and sit ups too

I have been exclusively BFing for 4 months now and am lighter than I was before I became pregnant - although I'm not sure that this is totally down to BFing as I have far less time to eat as well as I did before baby.

Me too naturemum, I wonder how much rot I used to eat simply because I had time.

That is really good bramblina and naturemum that you have lost weight without trying. Good to know also that not eating so much doesn't effect breastmilk. Don't get me wrong am eating enough, but tried to cut down over last few days.

i found that all that sitting down for hours feeding didn't help. am just starting to shift weight now after 9 mths, swimming is my relaxing time away from baby (oh so different - before would have been cocktails and shoe shopping)

Mower, I was ve fit pre preg and my trainer bfed and did allot of heavy exercise.
I have to dissagree and say that not eating much really isn't the way to go about it.

It really is important to eat a balances diet anf fgs take multivitamins if you are cutting back.
I found that i lost 1/4 of a stone for every feed I dropped, every one is different, butI had to lose 4 stone (am getting married in june)
When you do a period of prolonged hard exercise your breast milk can contain lactic acid, which will taste funny to your bub and can give them indigestion.
I used to express before and after exercise, Jumping up and down with boobs full of milk is not good for your back.

The first time I wore a sports bra to the gym I had fountains of milk squirting out as I did sit ups v embarrasing!

Walking, swimming and cycling all none boob involving and will be fine. Make sure you are hydrated, which is basic common sense but even more important when bfing.

yes quite the opposite of trying_ i have been eating all the rot under the sun (and oh heaven now cadbury@s creme eggs are back in circulation!) and ds was gaining weight quicker than expected (going by the charts) so i had no worries at all.
