Infant feeding

Urgent question - not going to have enough EBM tomorrow for almost 11 months ds2.......what would you do?

Rally baffled by this one but I am not going to have enough EBM to leave almost 11 month ds2 tomorrow when I am at work.

I normally leave a 4oz and a 5 oz bottle and he has his solid food at lunch time too. I leave at 7:45 and can be home for around 4.

He has never had formula but has had a few sips of ds1;s cows' milk before and accepts that.

If I cant express enough before morning (and I am pretty sure I can't), yould you give cows' milk or formula? (I dont have formula in the house)?

I really have no idea how I have done this....my supply has been so low today

i would go with cows milk - it wont hurt as a one off. No point buying in formula, especially as there is no guarentee he will take it

I think the thing about cows milk is that it can be hard to digest. If you are sure he can drink it ok, why not mix it with your EBM so it is just a little more digestable.

popysy, will u have zilch?, then let him go with out, i wouldnt fret to much about it , and if your supply is dwindling dont panic, do u want him to take cows milk? then let him have it. are u planning on giving up or are is it htat ur supply is low?

if you don't want to give cow's milk then don't
just give more food and water/fluids
wouldn't bother with formula tbh

pop dont give him cows now if he has excezma,it could excarebate it, i wouldnt, my ds gets hives if he spills cows milk on himself!(gets his sisters cup) mad i know, but he doesnt take any milk and hasnt since 13mths, (hes not that fussed) after me feeding him til then. sometimes on cereal but i can see the rash appeariong before my eyes...

dd got a rash on her elbow crease from cows milk , it flares up now and again but i know its the c/milk. she adores milk.
he has done really well as far as nutrients etc etc on breast milk til now and doesnt need really have to have milk now, does he eat cheeese.
my ds 17mths, takes a good oz a day as a chunk.and that is sufficient i believe for calcium intake.

petit filous an cheese are a great way to supplament the milk. two danone baby yoghurts equates to 1/3 of your babies rda of calcium, and so handy too!!!
