Infant feeding

formula for hungrier babies?

dd1 was formula fed and we never used the next formula up as she was quite happy with around 6 or 7oz per feed at this stage. dd2 is 3m, is happy and putting on weight but takes only about 3-4 oz each feed and then wants to feed again 2 and a half hours later all through the day. she goes 6-7 hours at night which is great but i have been wondering if the next stage formula would be suitable and maybe satisfy her for longer, but i don't just want to do it for my own convenience (ie fewer feeds in the day). it's like she can't take the volume of a big feed but she goes through it quickly, iyswim.

Babies have small tummies - she may well just drink the same amount but get constipated.

Oovavu - But that is the reason to do though isn't it? Its no difference to your baby whether they are hungry every 4 hours.... or every 2 hours.... as long as they are fed when they are hungry. So it would be better for you if she could go longer than 2 hours without a feed. Hungrier baby formula might work although it didn't for my little eating machine ds!!!!! Just try it and if she starts getting green poos or constipation, just switch back. You can but try.

dd2 always has dijon mustard-type poo, pale browny/yellow or sometimes with a green tinge - yum yum!

Cow and Gate do a formula that you can use from birth for hungrier babies, I have no idea if this is any good as my 7 week old DS is taking 6oz every 4 hours so I really have no need for it but it may be worth a go.
Are you sure that you are getting all your dd's wind up she may just be really stubborn and holding it in, maybe try lying her over your knee and rubbing her back or hold her under her arms and hang her for about 30 secs these to ways normally work wonders for stubborn wind.

she gets her wind up 9 times out of 10 and belches like a 20 stone builder. she doesn't seem unhappy with tummy ache even when she doesn't produce much wind so i don't think it's that
