Isn't there a nice (fairly balanced) article (I think it was linked to by someone) listing the benefits of each type of feeding (eg breast/bottle)

I don't need opinions etc as DD is nearly 8

Just info that I can copy for my NVQ - so I have to do less work
Pretty Please?

As an academic wouldn't that be plagiarism?

Make sure you change several words and reference it clearly. Sorry can't help with finding the actual article, though.

Of course it's plagarism it may even be cheating - but it's what they want to hear rather than what I want to write so they can have it (iyswim)

I won't really copy & paste - I will edit and rewrite as much as possible, but it is so much easier with something to start off with

Try the Kellymom site - American but always gets good reviews.

Not sure you'll find much listing the benefits of bottle feeding though since breast is so clearly the optimum method. Bottle = someone else can feed baby and, er, that's it really. Oh, not having to worry about flashing your breasts.

exactly - that's why I need an article

Advantages of of bottle feeding for whom Katymac? The mother or the baby?

For the baby bottlefeeding is definitely advantageous ..if the mother is taking medications which can pass through breastmilk such as immune suppressants, or certain cancer drugs. Also bottle feeding is best for the baby if the mother is HIV positive.
It is good if your baby is born so prematurely that it cannot suck and you have no milk and there is no milk bank (the formula isn't better for them that breastfeeding but it is a fantastic alternative to not feeding at all!)
If you are one of the small number of women who really do not produce enough milk to support your baby then bottle feeding is a lifesaver.

There are social advantages to parents, such as being able to leave your baby with other people for example, so you can go to work.

Medically, of course, breastfeeding wins hands down. There are lists all over Kellymom about the lifelong medical advantages - 8points higher IQs for babies, protection against breastcancer and osteoporosis for mother...

I don't really care Aloha it's not like anyone (who hasn't already made a decision) is going to read it - I'm jumping through hoops to answer questions which aren't relevant to me in order to gain a qualification which will be out-of-date before I get it.

DD is nearly 8 - I breastfed (but spent my whole pregnancy being aware that my mum couldn't 'manage' to make enough milk to feed either me or my brother - and I turned out to be a regular cow) but my milk was refused for donation.

So who cares what I write?

why are you carrying on with the course katymac? (just curious)

Because the Gov will (is likely too)make it manditory for all C/Mers to have a level 3 qualification within the next 10 yrs (also I can go on to other jobs with the qual)

Just reference it properly, then it isn't plagiarism! Easy!

Another advantage of BF (and no parping at me, DS3 bf for 13 months, no 1 just couldn't!)- it saves spending half your working day sat in the grotty loo of a small haulage company expressing with all the drivers outside trying to get a gander.

For some reason they were surprised when dh gave them all the crappy routes to do! tee hee!

ok if you put 3 references, I should think.

if you have taken the text word for word from the internet, don't be surprised if whoever marks you work picks up on this. it normaly takes me a few minuyes to find the original when students do this.

While it is fine to quote bits of other people's work , in quoteation marks and properly referenced. It isn't OK to cut and paste, even if you take stuff from more than one source. If you do that it is still plagiraism

Katymac, now I understand what it is for I can see why you are so pissed off, frankly. Good luck, I'm sure it will be fine.

We have a new system called JISK at college where we have to upload our work and it scans books / websites for matches. it's a good thing I think, though it terrifies us now- we've convinced ourselves we have accidentally memorised a book and quoted from it! How daft are we? PMSL!

Katymac- you should have been given some guidance on this by the college. Did they not go into it with you?
