How to get 11 month to take a cup

He just refuses!! Has milk three times a day from a bottle since 8 months old. And since about 6 months I've been offering water from a selection of different cups, with no result. And I mean NO result!! He just will not drink anything but milk from anything but a bottle. I'm quite worried about it, cos he has quite strong smelling wet nappies, and I'm concerned that he may not be getting enough liquid. Any suggestions??

I wouldn't worry. I would contine giving him his milk in a bottle for a while yet but let him drink from a cup during the day with drinks other than milk.

He'll get it eventually.

Thanks all, but the problem is he REFUSES to drink anything at all. Is this not really bad that he has no other liquids? My mum keeps getting in a state about it! He won't have water, juice, milk or anything from a cup. And only milk three times a day from a bottle. It's not the bottle problem that worries me, I'm perfectly happy for him to have a bottle for as long as he wants. It's more the question of not drinking anything else during the day that concerns me.

try just leaving a cup of something around so that he can reach it and play with it if he wants to

What I always did was just have one of those anyway up cups with water in, round and about the house that they could pick up like a toy - eventually they just worked out how it worked and got quite into using it.

Stick with his bottles and don't stress about it but have the cup around everyday and leave him to go to it himself. He will eventually!
