sigh ... ds has colic (as did his sisters). I'm double dosing him with infacol which helps a bit, but spend most of my time between 8pm and 2am dealing with a screaming baby! Been through it enough times before to know that there's not much I can do except grin and bear it - but please can you suggest some things to try?

Dentinox was quite good.

Dont sterilise the applicator though...........

Yep. There is. They melt basically. Applicator doesnt like it. Neither does the steam steriliser much.

so dont do it!

Good!

I blame the lack of sleep from my DS's chronic colic on my sterilising mishap though..............

Try Colief drops. £10 from boots (and only last a week!) but available on prescription from most gps. It basically pre-digests the lactose in milk. I thought breastfed babies couldn't have lactose digestion problems but apparently they can. When breastfeeding you have to express 10ml or so and put the drops in that to feed to baby first. So it's a bit fiddly but has made a huge difference to my ds.

Other than that - strengthen that rocking arm! And get a dummy.

I tried everthing with dd, she was extremely colicky at 3-4weeks and I bought everthing on the market well Boots, I bought the crystals, gripe water, and the drops and of course infacol which made her sick, none worked and she screamed every eve from 8pm-11 in the end I bought a book and it showed me how to cradle her in my arm, It worked a treat just mean't that dp and I took turn about before our arms broke. You put them along your forearm on thier tummy with your hand cradling their little head which is turned to the side and the side of thier face is cradled in your palm, and gently just moving your arm up and down with the slightest movement. We done this for about a week and then the crying stopped and she settled at night herself, we still don't know if the colic stopped itself or if the pressure holding her this way stopped the colic!

Chiropractor fixed it for us.

exercise (birthing) ball has been fab for us. just hold the baby quite tightly in their preferred position, sit on it and bounce - fairly vigorously if neccessary. much less exhausting than walking up and down and very soothing, baby liked smoother motion i think. only way we ever got him to sleep off the breast. ooh and gets lots of wind out too (of parent as well as child )

DD1 had bad colic - a warm bath brought temporary relief but we saw a Cranial Osteopath and this sorted the problem quickly

Thank you for the advice, everyone! ds is going for his injections on Thursday, so I might see what the gp thinks too. It sounds like I'm doing everything "right" anyway - just have to grit my teeth and get on with it!
