my 12 wk old dd2 is mainly breastfed except for her last feed of the day at 8 pm which dh gives her in order for me to spend some quality time with our 4yr old dd1. She has had a cold for the last couple of days and consequently has not been having this bottle. We have tried tonight to give her the bottle again and she is gagging on it even though she would happily go on the breast. What has happened? She has been happily taking the bottle for weeks now she just won't entertain it. Could it be the cold she has had? I really would like to carry on with this bottle feed and eventually on my return to work bottle feed only but am now worried that she will never take a bottle again - any advice mn'ers?

my dd had a cold when she was a few weeks old and we found the same - our hv suggested that we used teats on the bottle with more holes - it worked - basically it takes more effort when they have a cold so to make it easier sue a faster flow teat. HTH.
