My ds is 13 weeks though was 5 weeks early. He has been bf but from 3 weeks we have been trying to give him a bottle of bm. He will take it for a day or two and then refuse. He has had 2 or 3 feeds of formula but refuses them very quickly and wont take a full feed. I have tried different flow teats but am using avent bottles. Any tips would be great as i would like him to end up with 1 formula feed a day and to know i can leave him if need with dh.

don't know if any of this helps but had similar problems with my first son. He absolutely refused breast milk from a bottle, I decided he associated it with all the comfortable stuff about breastfeeding and just didn't want to take it without the trimmings,so I quickly gave up and started him with a formula feed once a day. I made sure that he was hungry, pushing his feed time up by about 45 mins and keeping him as busy as I could, then I disappeared upstairs out of the way, dxp took over, played a while and then before he got too impatient, gave him his feed. It took a couple of goes but by about the third attempt we cracked it. If I remember correctly we also had some warm boiled water handy, if he refused the formula, we offered him that instead, I think he soon realised that the formula was the best he was going to get! Main tips, your partner should give the formula and he has to be relaxed about it, you should be well out of sight, smell and earshot. Hope this helps
