We are getting pretty darn excited about the imminent approach of BlogFest on November 9, where we'll be hearing from Prof. Tanya Byron, Jon Ronson, Stella Creasy and Jo Brand - as well as some of our fantastic bloggers including Annie Spratt, Tanya Barrow, Jack Monroe, Rosie Fiore, Jax Blunt, Alison Perry, Sonya Cisco, Tanya Tirraro, Cassandra Parkin, Andrea Mann, MaggieWoodley and Gemma Regaldo-Hawkey.

This thread is for everyone who’s already coming, is thinking of coming (or wishes they were coming!) to gather, share tips and info – and generally get ready for the Big Day!

You can also join in the conversation on Twitter by following us @MumsnetBloggers. Feel free to tweet us with any questions – or, alternatively, you can email us on bloggers[at]mumsnet[dot]com.

See you on the 9th!

¡Hola! Very happy to be attending my second Blogfest! (This one has a lot to live up to after last year's triumph, but I am sure it will).

Will be coming over from Mallorca for the event so hopefully I will bring some sunshine with me!

Here's my blog www.familymattersmallorca.com

Natalie82B Mon 21-Oct-13 14:45:32

Very excited about Blogfest, but starting to get nervous now as it will be my first time and I'm coming on my own. Sure it will be great though.

I'm in the same boat as you Natalie, torn between being excited and nervy! I'm going to another event at a publishers on Thursday, and I'll be on my own for that too, so I'm treating that as a BlogFest dry run.

janmary Mon 21-Oct-13 22:25:43

I too know no one but hopefully we can connect here so it won't be quite so daunting!

Sneaking in....

Hello everybody. I am also going to my first Blogfest this year and appear to have been selected to speak. Me?! Speaking? Anyway, do say hello. It would be great to meet up.

@mummybarrow on Twitter. I don't really do any of the other social networks, I am a bit crap at those. Twitter is where I hang out most. I say most, I mean constantly.

Hello
I am going and I am looking forward to it. I have no idea what to expect - very new to this whole blogging thing.

Here is my blog

cogitoergomum.wordpress.com/
Twitter is @CogitoErgoMum

I am new to that too, but getting better at using it.
Looking forward to meeting you all.

PervCat Thu 24-Oct-13 14:24:45

beyondtheplayground Thu 24-Oct-13 19:52:32

Good luck to you, MummyBarrow! I'm a BlogFest virgin & very much looking forward to the day. I don't know Jo brand. Or care

SandyCalico Fri 25-Oct-13 16:47:25

Hello, I'll be there AGAIN this year. I can't decide which sessions to attend though. Decisions decisions.

Hello! I'm coming to BlogFest too. This time last year I didn't even know what a blog conference was!

You can find me on twitter as @crazywithtwins

Just entered the dinner compy thingy too!

cheers! wine

KateMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 25-Oct-13 20:19:47

Keep 'em coming peeps. We're so looking forward to seeing you all on the 9th. It's all getting a bit real now, isn't it?!

Just to let you know, we're going to have a designated meeting point at King's Place so those of you that want to connect in RL have a place to do so.

Any other thoughts about how we can make things as lovely as poss for those who aren't going with a friend? Last year was brilliant in terms of friendliness - so many people making new friendships - but we're always open to suggestions.

KatieClark Fri 25-Oct-13 20:55:59

Hi, I'm coming to BlogFest for the first time this year. More than a bit nervous as I don't know anyone

Hello!
I'm coming on the 9th. Have been blogging a couple of years at www.inadifferentvoice.co.uk but not done any conferences before. I tweet at @janey_uk
Looking forward to it!
Jane

Hello again!

I'm usually found at Put up with rain (ignore the most recent posts, It Has Been A Difficult Time). On twitter @jessikart

I went to a party at Harper Collins on Thursday where I knew NO ONE and I was terrified. Then I spotted two other women who looked how I felt, so I went up to them and blurted out 'I don't know anyone here either!'. The evening was fine after that grin

Kate What about a sticker we can put under our name badges to say 'Hi! I'm a no mates blogger' or words to that effect? So it's not so scary to approach a complete stranger?

JeannedeMontbaston Mon 28-Oct-13 16:24:31

I can't make it (boo!) as I'm very, very new to all this and got myself all booked up before I became a blogger, let alone a Mumsnet blogger.

But you can find me here if you like: readingmedievalbooks.wordpress.com/ and I'll hope to be at the next one.

KhunZhoop Mon 28-Oct-13 16:25:36

I'll be there. I'm not telling you who I am though.

TalesofaTwinMum Mon 28-Oct-13 16:36:31

Hi, I'm coming along. I blog at www.TalesofaTwinMum.wordpress.com and Tweet @TalesofaTwinMum. Looking forward to meeting lots of you there! Karen x

Hiiiiiiiii! passes round cake and a bottle of red how are we??

I'm coming along and like a few of you this will be my first 'blogging thingy' I'm excited, nervous and worried that the trains won't be friggin running!

This whole networking lark is pushing me out of my comfort zone, but that's a good thing smile

I blog at http://ooohcrumbs.wordpress.com tweet ramblings on @Cardies_Crumbs I'm on Instagram too .. I'll be looking you guys up on Twitter.

Shamozal Tue 29-Oct-13 05:21:09

Hi everyone!

I'm an expat blogger who lives in Qatar. My blog is called 4 kids, 20 suitcases and a beagle. If you see a terrified woman with an Aussie accent please, please PLEASE come and say hi (Me? Needy and desperate? Whatever do you mean).

Is this a first blog conference for anyone else?

http://shamozal.blogspot.com

Shamozal Tue 29-Oct-13 05:23:17

Cardies and Crumbs, thanks for the cake. Shall we open another bottle of red?

MrsH2010 Tue 29-Oct-13 12:19:21

Hi everyone - I've just booked my tickets, and as newbie to blogging I too will know no-one. I've blogged for a while before, but have just launched one that is much more 'me' and that I'm hoping to really get running with. However, this is my first 'outing' (conference sounds very fierce!), so if you see me plus bump wandering around looking inspired but friend-less please grab me!

You can check out the blog at:
www.themeaningofwife.co.uk

If there's anything specific for newbies to help break the ice on the day I'd love to know/hear about it - otherwise I may just start chatting to people randomly out of nervous energy!

Look forwards to seeing you all there on the day! Whoop Whoop!

MrsH2010 Tue 29-Oct-13 12:21:24

Hi - just saw your link. I grew up in Dubai so was interested to hear you live in Qatar. It'll be my first time at Blogfest - but if you want to grab a buddy for the day I'd be happy to link up. Have found you on Bloglovin so I can follow your blog smile Safe Travels.

ViviPru Tue 29-Oct-13 15:54:55

Shamozal i just enjoyed a really entertaining tea break with your blog.

This is me Excuse my appearance, I've got the builders in.

Looking forward to the 9th.

I'm sadly no longer able to make the conference and would like to sell my ticket. I bought at the Early Bird rate and am willing to do a deal. Does anybody know of anyone who wants a ticket? Email me at threebecomefour@gmail.com. Gem xx

PlumSykes Tue 29-Oct-13 19:57:08

Gem, have emailed you.

Gusthetheatrecat Wed 30-Oct-13 17:14:26

I am coming! I'm Rachel - another no mates blogger turning up on her own, and absolutely terrified about it....

My blog is www.cornerbycorner.co.uk
And I'm @rectripp on twitter.

Er, please will someone be my friend?! Am making a mental note to come back online tonight and check out all your blogs!

katese11 Wed 30-Oct-13 18:14:29

Ooh meant to say I write London With a Toddler and my twitter handle is @LondonWAToddler. See you there!!

We definitely need to wear a 'Hi!! I'm Bloggy No Mates!!*' badge to identify each other. I could set up a little stall by the entrance and greet you with 'Hello. You don't have any friends, do you? Never mind! Here's a badge.' thlwink

*Double exclamation mark necessary to sound slightly breathless and bordering on hysteria.

Natalie82B Fri 01-Nov-13 10:40:43

Yep definitely like the idea of the Bloggy No Mates badge!!

Multilayermummy Fri 01-Nov-13 20:31:29

Very much looking forward to BlogFest, not nervous.at.all! My first Blog event, can't wait smile

rachaellucas Fri 01-Nov-13 20:45:55

I'm coming! And I'm speaking about books and blogs and stuff. And that reminds me, I haven't done anything about trains or hotels. Oops. My blog is over at rachaellucas.com and you can find me at twitter.com/karamina when I'm supposed to be writing.

heirraising Fri 01-Nov-13 21:12:44

I'm looking forward to next Saturday - my first blogging conference like so many of you. I've been writing and drawing a cartoon blog for most of this year. It's all about bringing up kids from the perspective of eight women from Mission Mum and Pyjama Ma to Plummy Mummy www.heirraising.com. Please come and say hello as I won't know a soul, although will probably recognise a few of your names from Twitter!

Hettieboo Fri 01-Nov-13 21:27:07

Hi! I'm a newbie blogger, I know no body. I will be hugging the walls! My blog is www.strawberriesandfacecream.com and twitter is @nicetouchbeauty I'm looking forward to meeting some fellow bloggers!

LordPalmerston Sun 03-Nov-13 16:25:13

i cant bloody wait. i won't know ANYONE but tbh who will? I will be like a hawk making you come and be my fwend so we can giggle at the back.

anyone up for it?

LordPalmerston Sun 03-Nov-13 16:25:37

plus * looks about *
i dont even have a blog - I will live in fear of being OUTED the whole time.

I don't have a blog either and will also be coming on my own. I've been thinking about starting a blog for a while and do have a few ideas but want to use Blogfest for inspiration. I do feel a bit sheepish about not having one yet but it seems a welcoming, inclusive affair smile. It's been reassuring to see how many other people will be there on their own - I had images of myself like the new girl in school, lurking at the back....Really looking forward to it (Blogfest, not lurking, although I do like a good lurk now and then).

LordPalmerston Sun 03-Nov-13 20:45:30

right we are ON ON ON heather

Haha Lord! I think those with blogs will have the blog name on their name badge thingy so we'll be able to spot other non-blog owners and pounce grin

TheTwistedYarn Mon 04-Nov-13 10:13:27

Is it too late to join the party? I've only just started blogging and would love to come. Are any of the workshops booked up or is everything still available? The two that I really want to attend clash with each other. Grrrr....

Hope to see y'all there. I'll be the billy no-mates in the corner with a rictus grin on my face.

TheTwisted I think there are still a few tickets available, at least that's what I saw earlier today. I don't think anything's totally booked out, they just wanted us to indicate what we want to attend so they have an idea for numbers.

TBH, I think most people are going to be on their own, to begin with at least. Blogging's a fairly solitary thing to do, after all! But from my experience the MN Bloggers seem to be the friendliest, funniest and fabbest ones shameless crawling to ingratiate myself ahead of Saturday

PigeonPairNell Mon 04-Nov-13 21:52:36

Mumsnet team: I reckon that if you ply us with a load of booze, that should help ease along the introductions wink

I agree with Nell. Slip some Baileys into our coffee and we'll stop being nervous very quickly and become foulmouthed raucous cackling harridans instead

janmary Mon 04-Nov-13 22:37:19

Is there such a thing as a list of attendees with blogs / twitter names etc? Either before/during/after? Might be useful to help us "connect" smile

And for those non-bloggers - don't worry, just 'cos we have blogs doesn't make us scary (I hope) - please say Hi if you spot me

janmary Jax Blunt/@liveotherwise has a list of tweeter bloggers who are attending and she's keen to add as many people as possible so that we can get in touch with each other ahead of <eek> Saturday.

Mammasaurus Tue 05-Nov-13 16:49:56

Oooo excited isn't the word. More of a YIPPIE KI YAY moment smile
@mammasaurusblog mammasaurus.co.uk reporting for duty salutes

I've just been given the most fantastic brief for the panel session I'm part of and I'm having loads of fun working on it. Can't wait for the day now!

This is me, btw. Hope it's okay to link...

Hey you lovely lot, I've been awol from this for a. It, have I missed details of where people are meeting up? .... Anyone getting a train from Peterborough way that morning? ... Too early for gin in a tin? ;)

Cardies it says a lot about me that I am giving serious consideration to gins in tins aboard my train at 0630. Perhaps I'd do better to wait for the return journey to Norwich?

Ha ha ha ... Possibly ;)

But then, Buck's Fizz is traditionally drunk in the morning, isn't it? And I have treated myself to first class (only an extra £8).

It'd be quite rude of me not to get steaming drunk on the train down, wouldn't it?

JoanneMallon Tue 05-Nov-13 20:36:02

Hello fellow Blogfestians. Anybody else coming from Brighton? I warn you, the trains are up shit creek on Saturday, it won't be an easy journey. And on that cheery note here is my intro post: joannemallon.typepad.com/joanne_the_coach/2013/11/blogfest-intro-post.html

see you all soon!

thethighshaveit Tue 05-Nov-13 20:38:28

I have only just started blogging too. Had a massive dilemma about whether or not to go to blogfest but decided that I would go as a fraudster with only 3 blog posts to my name in the hope it inspires me. I have a few days left so maybe I can reach double figures before Saturday!

Natalie82B Tue 05-Nov-13 21:01:20

Right,I know this is a really lame question but what is everyone wearing??? This is my first blog conference and I haven't got a clue what to wear!

JoanneMallon Tue 05-Nov-13 21:18:06

From my previous experience at blog conferences, you will get everything from "I've been planning this outfit for 6 months" to "I slept in this" and both will fit right in. It honestly doesn't matter. It's not like everyone will go away and post judgy stuff on the internet about what people are wearing. Oh hang on...

Natalie82B Tue 05-Nov-13 21:25:09

Ha ha, thank you!

JessMumsnet (MNHQ) Wed 06-Nov-13 09:56:04

Hi all - we thought your 'Please talk to me' badges were a fab idea, so we'll be giving out two types of sticker - one will say 'I'm new and a bit nervous', and the other says 'Happy to chat'. With a bit of luck this will break the ice and make it easier to <gulp> start chatting to strange ladies grin.

We're v excited about meeting you all on Saturday!

janmary Wed 06-Nov-13 10:49:05

I think I will need to wear both!!!

Here is my intro post on my blog - http://www.janmary.com/2013/11/mumsnet-blogfest-2013.html

janmary Wed 06-Nov-13 10:49:57

I will be there on Saturday - last year was a real inspiration, have high hopes of this year too. I'm on Twitter as @SarahWood7, and blog at www.sarahwoodonline.com

My first BlogFest - so be kind and say hi. I will probably be standing in a corner - no, not the naughty one!
See you there smile

I blog at jacintaz3.co.uk
Tweet me www.twitter.com/jacintaz3

Hi all I am coming too - it will be my second blogfest - I had no idea what I was doing last year - this year I have just a little bit more.

I hope to catch up with people in person, old friends I met at previous conferences and new ones- put names and blogs to faces and all that jazz.

Looking forward to a great day - it totally surpassed my expectations last year so I anticipate it will be brilliant. V excited about Jo Brand being there too.

I blog at A Blissful Life www.ablissfullife.co.uk and I'm @Blissful_Mama on twitter

See you tomorrow! grin

LordPalmerston Fri 08-Nov-13 11:24:38

Lol at badges. I need one to say " tell
Me to shut the fuck up"

heirraising Fri 08-Nov-13 12:51:40

Great idea about the badges. btw is there somewhere I can leave a wheelie overnight case in the building on Saturday? Might look a bit odd trailing it behind me to all the sessions ! Please come and say hello anyway even if I'm Mrs Bag Lady tomorrow. My blog is www.heirraising.com Looking forward to meeting you smile

Just about to go and decide on what I wearing, I want to wear heels but feel I'll regret that after 10minutes! Ha!

See you in the morning peeps!

JessMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 08-Nov-13 16:05:08

Hi heirraising,

There's a cloakroom at the venue where you'll be able to leave your case.

See you tomorrow!

LordPalmerston Fri 08-Nov-13 18:37:18

i am all set. Handbag emptied of crap for only VITA Lthings. ARe people bringing laptops/ipads etc?
I don't have a blog so wouldnt really need to DO anything on it... will bring a phone charger though!

the stickers were my idea and I'm very proud of myself for it

I am so stupidly excited about this! Especially now I know I can drag more crap along with me - otherwise I'd have to bring my hideously ugly green bag as that's the only thing big enough to take all my crap (it looks like a pus ball).

I REALLY want to wear a pencil skirt, but that means heels, and I can't walk in heels. So it'll be my faithful Docs instead and what will definitely end up as laddered tights. Cardies I took two pairs of shoes to another do -flats for travelling in and err, more flats that weren't so practical when I was there.

Palmerston I'm bringing several notebooks and pens too, but no laptop. Will hammer the heck out of my phone battery though.

LordPalmerston Fri 08-Nov-13 21:13:58

Don't worry. Ill spot your green bag. I can lend you my charger.

NomadMomDiary Fri 08-Nov-13 22:33:01

I'm so excited. Have just printed my ticket and can't wait to meet you lovely ladies tomorrow am. Here are my details:
@nomadmomdiary on Facebook and Twitter
nomadmomdiary.com/

I've just arrived in London - very excited about tomorrow! In a bit of a panic now though, because I forgot to print my ticket and I don't think I'm going to be able to print it off before tomorrow. Does anyone know if we definitely need a paper copy of it, or can I show my e-mail confirmation?

ViviPru Fri 08-Nov-13 23:52:25

PANIC

Is there a cloakroom? Cos its jeffin freezing out and I've got to be milling round portals of publics transport (urgh) but I'm not wanting to be carrying my big ole coat round the gaff....

<Reads fred>

Panic over.

ViviPru Fri 08-Nov-13 23:54:11

Lord P just completed my ritual handbag emptying too. I'm all set. Damn early start for my train.

I'm the one in the denim dress......

Anyone for coffee?

katese11 Sat 09-Nov-13 06:53:14

Did we have to print tickets? I haven't done that. ..

LordPalmerston Sat 09-Nov-13 07:59:05

I've got my ticket on my phone. The passbook thing

Brilliant Palmerston - so glad you mentioned passbook. I hadn't heard of it before but then discovered that it was on my phone! Have added ticket to it.

jellyboatsandpirates Sat 09-Nov-13 22:55:54

Not been this year, but I'm definitely up for coming next year if you sort out a bloggy no mates badge! smile
