DillyTante Fri 01-Feb-13 12:55:53

My blog is sadly neglected due to having so much on, but I don't want to give it up.

Hi all, thanks for the thread CraftsonSea! My wee blog www.yellowfieldscamping.co.uk is about camping on the wilder side. All the campsites I review I have personally visited and ALL are campsites that allow campfires (my personal obsession!)

I also include outdoor activities with kids, outdoor/nature books and camping gadgets, campfire cooking and well, just about anything to do with camping really and I post about the marvellous Mazda Bongo campervan we camp in.

So far I've blogged about teenage suicide, PTSD, car crashes, camp America, hyper Japan, sex and plenty more.
It's not for the faint hearted but neither is parenting teenagers!
I'm on twitter at @mum_to_teens

Sorry, posted that too quick, it's a kind of online diary for me, my first blog so not sure if I can keep it going or if its any good, only time will tell I suppose. I also have twitter rea_2013 but not quite worked out how to use it yet.

Onykahonie Sun 03-Feb-13 23:15:46

Hi Bessie <waves back> I've been a bit of a lurker for a while, but thought I'd try and get involved with the bloggers network grin

Hello, I've been a Mumsnetter for yonks and have just had a blog accepted into the Mn bloggers network, whoop!
Although I've been blogging for the small business I run for 3 years, that blog is attached (not a v technical phrase, I'm not techy!) to my business website so it can't be accepted by the MN bloggers network. However I've recently started a news/history blog A Royal Baby which I'm really enjoying setting up.
I'm on Twitter too.

landofmakebelieve Mon 04-Feb-13 23:04:39

Hi, I'm married with two small boys, and blog about parenting dilemmas and opinions, and life as a SAHM.
I can be found blogging here : castawaywithdreams.wordpress.com/
and on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/wendy0
Some of these blogs on here I'm already familiar with as I'm already following or have heard of. smile
<off for a mooch over to look at the blogs I haven't heard of before>

FlipFantasia Tue 05-Feb-13 17:24:54

Craftsonsea thanks for starting this! A great idea to introduce a bit more of a community and showcase some of the great blogs in this network!

I'm a mum to a 10 month old girl & a 2.10 year old boy, living in northern NJ (after years of living in London, which is where I developed my MN addiction!), and blogging about my family's adventures in greener living.

I blog at Low Impact Parenting.

I'm on Twitter @lowimpactmama and on FB at Low Impact Parenting

If you follow me I'll follow you back. I read a lot of blogs through twitter in particular. Though I'd love to get into using Facebook for my blog - I've tried, and failed, thus far, and not quite sure what I'm doing wrong...so any tips on that would be great too!

minimumthebare Tue 05-Feb-13 19:55:10

Egusta Wed 06-Feb-13 09:08:06

Hello! I have enjoyed looking through the blogs. I am Egusta, and I live with my husband and son. I blog recipes and the occasional restaurant review. I just love cooking (and eating!) and I am sometimes embarrassed, wondering why on earth anyone would be interested in what we eat, but I love sharing recipes and reading other food (and lifestyle and feminist and social commentary) blogs so took the plunge last year.

eatwithgusto.wordpress.com/

Hi Egusta, I nominated you for a MAD blog award. But not because of your seafood recipe. Oh no, not that.

Egusta Wed 06-Feb-13 12:18:26

It's yum!! Really!

What a a MAD blog award, and what did I do? [bites fingers]

Egusta Wed 06-Feb-13 12:21:27

Oh! Just googled. Thanks!!!!!

I have a blog as sdtgcraftygenius here. It is a series of, often unconnected witterings about my attempt to look more positively at life.

I have depression, and have suffered from it since I was 14, and having left group therapy last year, I am trying to focus on the positives rather thna the negatives - hence the name of the blog - One Positive Thing Every Day. Sometimes I don't manage to post daily, but I have been doing better this year.

I blog about my crafty things there, as the things I make are positive things for me, and I am trying to learn to be happy and proud when I achieve something, rather than looking for all the ways I have failed.

I would love it if people read my witterings, but wouldn't blame you in the slightest if you found it all too me me me me.

Egusta Wed 06-Feb-13 13:31:52

I think that is the point of blogging SDTG! To be 'me me me'. smile

I like your blog alot, and love the idea of focusing on the positives. I need to do a bit more of that myself, as I have been overwhelmed with stress lately. So your mantra is a good one to live by.

I LOVE your header picture also. It is so beautiful.

Thank you so much, Egusta!

PigeonPairNell Wed 06-Feb-13 21:48:18

Really looking forward to reading the new blogs and hopefully getting some feedback on my own blog!

Egusta Thu 07-Feb-13 13:03:33

Hello, I've just joined the mums net bloggers network - I blog about green urban living with a baby and pre-schooler including monthly green challenges. I've also challenged myself to find more fun in my 'new' life with little ones at the same time. But this week I've been distracted by baby starting nursery and blogged about childcare.

RecipeJunkie Fri 08-Feb-13 06:09:45

Craftsonsea you have the best ideas...

So another food blogger here - Recipe Junkie and the Attack of the Custard Creams. Blogging for 18 months now - 'family food', lots of cake, occasional fancy things and a bit about mad 3 legged springer spaniels and the 'challenges' of parenting (the things that 'challenge' me. Like craft). Also trying to branch out into some foodie comment and occasional low key controversy - wrote something about GBBO which caused a bit of a stir this week...

@RecipeJunkie27 and on Facebook

Hello everyone,

I have a blog called So Resourceful, it has been going for two and a half years now and has a nice regular group of followers.

Forgot to add, my blog is another crafty one, that focusses on being resourceful with tihngs, this year I am focussing on using up all my scrap fabric rather than buying new stuff (I have a bit of a fabric addiction).

I love your rainbow pictures, overmydeadbody! I'm following your blog and have commented. And you are clearly in a whole different league to me, when it comes to crafting - you do lovely work.

ThisLittleP Wed 13-Feb-13 14:52:36

What a fab thread, I am now thinking 'roll on bedtime' so I can have a good browse through everyone else's blogs grin Big thanks to OP.

Hi, I'm Erika, my (fashion) blog is This Little Pretty, I've been blogging a little while, but haven't really 'put it out there' too much as I am a wimp see such alot of criticism of mums who like to wear their nice gear. I just like clothes!!! And high heels!! Simple as that.

Twitter is here

I'd be very grateful for feedback, and of course it's always a boost when someone leaves comments (down on begging knees!), and even more so when someone follows you (and gives me a chance to follow back smile).

I haven't as many posts as I'd like lately as I'm training for London marathon in April, so seem to be forever in running gear, not much opportunity for heels these days.

Oh, living in Essex wink and mum to DD who is nearly 6 and DS who is nearly 3.

Giving all you fellow bloggers a big high-five. Keep up the good work ladies.

Mummykindness - I have followed your blog, because I too struggled with PND (exacerbating, in my case, undiagnosed depression), and it is good to know that you are not alone. I hope that writing helps you banish the black dog.

wickeddevil Wed 13-Feb-13 15:07:08

Thanks for all these blog suggestions everyone. Particularly looking forward to the ones about crafts and baking - which are obsessions hobbies of mine.

Hello too to all the Essex girls (wink)

Hi! I'm Susie. 'A Green Mouse' is my blog - in the Education section. It's for children under 13 and their parents/teachers. I'm making short videos in Spanish and French about pets and other topics which appeal to children. My latest post is about a hamster(!): http://www.agreenmouse.com/quest-ce-que-cest-cest-un-hamster/. I've had lovely comments from teachers and my resources are available on the Times Educational Supplement online, but I'd love to reach out to parents and children who aren't learning languages at primary school as it really helps to start learning a language early in life. I have lovely songs on my website as well, and lots of plans for future resources. I'm @1AGreenMouse on Twitter and my youtube channel is AGREENMOUSE1.

ladymontdore Mon 18-Feb-13 15:40:36

So glad I found this thread. I've just started a blog Today in Mrs George's Kitchen, it's basically about everything I do in my kitchen - cooking mainly! I actually started it last year, then managed to forget the blog name blush password, email etc. I've managed to find them again.

I'd love some feedback - shall I give up now? Blogging is taking me far from my comfort zone!

In the meantime I shall enjoy looking at all these lovely blogs!

Johnatdadbloguk Tue 19-Feb-13 16:02:01

Hi there - I'm John and I blog at dadbloguk.com I write about all aspects of parenting from the father's perspective. As the primary carer for my two kids, however, I do sometimes get a bit militant and write about the gender barriers us men face as fathers. You'll find me on twitter as @dadbloguk and on Facebook www.facebook.com/pages/Dadblogukcom/196653557141290

GrandmaAbson Wed 20-Feb-13 18:05:29

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum. I've been blogging since December 2010 about my Grandma Abson's (1886-1997) traditional baking. I do talks, demos and book signings and everyone from baking devotees,to culinary nostalgics and those new to baking always enjoy them. I want to promote the idea of traditional home baking like Grandma used to do. Today, I've been talking to visitors to Hodsock Priory Snowdrops in Notts and you can read about it on my Blog www.grandmaabson.com - and there's a recipe each time too! This week it's Rhubarb Crumble.

Hopefully Thu 21-Feb-13 14:57:10

Oh gosh, I have just wasted an hour looking at virtually every blog on this list instead of actually posting an introduction.

I'm an old hand MNer, but mainly loiter in S&B.

I blog over at Applied Style about personal style and pretty much any other lifestyle/beauty/health./fashion stuff that takes my fancy. Mainly I get enormously excited about capsule wardrobes.

Hopefully Thu 21-Feb-13 15:03:50

Oh, and while I'm at it on I'm on twitter too. I'm also on Facebook, but it's really a business page rather than a blog page, iykwim. It's linked from my blog if anyone wants to find it badly enough wink

wrestlingalligators Sun 24-Feb-13 20:26:55

This is a great thread, I've followed three blogs I loved the sound of already!

I'm a children's author and zookeeper to three preschool sons. My blog is somewhat eclectic, from tips on getting published, to Baby boys - not a consolation prize!

I'm on Twitter too @raisingchimps

PavlovtheCat Sun 24-Feb-13 21:44:14

Hi all, lovely thread, and just what I needed! I have lost my writing mojo and need some new blogs to inspire me. I need to read and not write for a while.

Have checked a few out already and followed some on Twitter. Like some others, I follow blogs easily through twitter so if you link to your posts there I will most likely check out your new posts if I am following you.

I am @winecantcureit on twitter

blog is wine cant cure back pain it's my journey through my (relatively new) experiences of being a parent, wife, worker, wine drinker (not so much of that any more) suffering from severe chronic back pain due to lumbar disc problems. But, like I said, I lost my writing mojo so I am not expecting a huge following grin.

MikeandLor Tue 12-Mar-13 11:37:53

Hello!

I'm Mike and together with my wife Laura we run a film review website where the reviews are specifically tailored to help parents decide if the film is suitable for their children.

We love films but when we took our nephews (then aged 6 and 4) to see Toy Story 3 a few years ago along with their father and we were very surprised at their reaction. We knew they were sensitive children, but expected that Toy Story - rated PG - would be fine for them. In actual fact they were terrified at certain parts and we had to take them out of the cinema to calm down. So we decided to write reviews that would highlight parts like that in PGs and 12As so that parents would know in advance if the film might have elements that would upset their children.

We don't judge, we just write helpful reviews so parents can make a choice they are happy with! So far we have been interviewed by the Leicester Mercury (should be out Wednesday 13th or Thursday 14th March) and are trying hard to get the word out to parents as far and wide as possible.

We can be found at isthismoviesuitable.com and we're just waiting for our Mumsnet bloggers application to go through so we can join in with all you lovely bloggers!

- Mike and Laura

Hi. I am Janet. I found myself unexpectedly pregnant while meditating in a Buddhist monastery in Nepal. After traveling through India on a motorcycle, teaching English in Tokyo, studying Aromatherapy in Australia and starting my own business in Montreal….becoming a single mother was not in the cards.

For the past 8 years, I have been juggling an executive career in the beauty industry in 2 continents, while trying to find enough time to spend with my little girl. Several obstacles have followed within those years, as a woman in business, as a single mom and as human being. Hi Craftsonsea,
I can't believe I've only just noticed this thread. Great idea, and as other posters say, introduces a more community feel to this site!

I write about interiors: often about products to buy that I think are worth posting about (nothing at silly prices) eg upcoming spring/summer launches from high street brands, plus new ranges from online companies...

and then I throw some random bits into the mix, for example artwork from international artists that we might not have heard of here (well I haven't heard of, and think others would like to know about it!), plus architecture, vintage, etc. So all a bit of a mix; I tend to post twice a week so the content changes regularly.

Do come and say hello and let me know about your sites, I'd love to discover them.

SOMETING TO MAKE YOU SMILE

I write 'Letters to Nigel Slater'. letterstonigelslater.blogspot.co.uk.

It is a fictional correspondance between Martha Muffett (care-worn single mother in the Peak District) and the food writer Nigel Slater, following his 'Kitchen Diaries' vol 1 and 2.
It is about life and food and the universe; infused with humour and a ladle-full of love.

Nigel's really enjoying it. He said, on Twitter,'I can't tell you how much hilarykaren's charming blog has meant to me over the past year'; which was really sweet of him.

Richard Johnson, food writer in 'The Guardian', found it and has loved it and has asked me to do some reviews for British Street Food, which I am now also placing inside my blog.

PLEASE TAKE A LOOK and judge for yourself.

Best wishes,

Hilary

Hi Craftonsea and others in this thread,

I started my blog in Feb www.heirraising.com but have only just got into the swing of it. I am a cartoonist who is taking a wry look at parenting in the 21st century. You can see some of the mums and kids I meet including Gummy Mummy (with her mobility scooter), Plummy Mummy (in her Chelsea Tractor), Mission Mum (with her Kumon Maths and violin classes) and Pyjama Ma with her inimitable wardrobe at the school gate. There'll be some dads too in due course.

Please let me know what you think, and I welcome any good suggestions! smile

Can't believe I haven't spotted this thread before! I run Re-Creations Project, a community group for people with learning disabilities that helps them build social networks and life skills through "upcycling". Translation: we make awesome crafts from rubbish and sell them to earn activity money.

Our blog is about the project, with a lot of crafting and kid-friendly upcycling projects, as well as contributions from the members. recreationsproject.wordpress.com/

Hello, I'm Natalie and I blog about motherhood generally, but also with reference to my old career in advertising in London. I've done the big move out of the city and into the countryside, and have 2 young boys, so this is really just me musing about it all.

I'm also trying to write more generally, I have a few ideas for a novel and for a sitcom, so who knows, this could be the start of something special...

Hi
Looking back through the links it's great to see the huge variety of topics that people are blogging about.

I'm a newbie as well - site is www.afamilydayout.co.uk

My kids are both at primary school but they're growing up fast. I started the blog to record our days out, walks and cycle rides so that when they're stroppy teenagers I can look back fondly! Hopefully it will also provide inspiration for other families with ideas for cheap days out.

Thanks for reading
Christine

Hi, I just started a new blog about starting a new life in the countryside having moved from London. I am also blogging about all things toddler and parenting related.

Hi gals.

Rather unusually, I'm a bloke that somehow was welcomed to the blogging fraternity here!

My blog is about the male midlife crisis, dating, (I'm divorced), things I find frustrating, interesting, funny, and occasionally controversial. Though I rarely post anything about my two gorgeous young children.

Unlike a lot of blogs though, this isn't about me, me, me.smile

Please feel free to make comments, get involved, or just to have a go. I don't mind.wink

JanString Tue 07-May-13 14:09:00

Hi, Thanks for asking.
My name's Jan and I started writing my blog in January this year, am enjoying writing about my experiences - through travel to teens and beyond. At the moment I am thinking about my youngest child reaching her 18th birthday and realising that Parenthood never ends,it just changes colour!
Is anyone else have similar experiences?

This is my blog www.travelwiththestrings.wordpress.com

Hey everyone,

I'm Eden, I moved into a flat recently with a MASSIVE 'garden'. I say 'garden' because it was overgrown and I've dug some amazing things up like a shopping trolley. I'm slowly turning into a gardening bore and instead of inflicting my endless excitement about my garden on my friends I'm writing about it.

My plan is eventually to be able to grow loads of food, feed myself. keep some rescue hens and slowly turn into Felicity Kendal in the good life. I'm stubbornly doing it all myself. My back aches, I've given up on having nice nails and I have bramble thorns and wood splinters but I love being outside and the pride I have in my efforts make that last cup of tea at the end of a heavy really special.

If you'd like a read I can be found here kohzeekitchen.wordpress.com/

Hope you all enjoyed the lovely long weekend

for some reason the page doesn't display properly when you click it so you might have to click the header smile

Hey all,

I'm a newbie to the network, and I've been blogging for about six months.

I blog about my work as a freelance illustrator, the decor items that I create for children's rooms, being a mum to a premature baby, being a postgraduate student, working from home tips, art and craft tutorials, etc...

So, if any of that is of interest, please head over and have a look around! You can find me at http://amandamoussa.blogspot.co.uk/

I'm still finding my feet a bit, and a complete visual redesign is in (slow) progress, so please excuse the current design - it's temporary only!
