I believe I am first this morning. slow roast merguez shoulder of lamb. Drool.

RecipeJunkie Sun 27-Jan-13 07:15:59

I forgot to mention that my lamb post contains an unnecessary but amusing (if you are aged between 5 and 9, or a man, or half cut) photo of a comedy potato.

yassusarah Sun 27-Jan-13 10:47:06

I totally lost it this week, not a proud parenting moment.

You are all invited to my virtual book launch party

One Day For Me : Eight Award-Winning Stories
All the stories have won or been shortlisted in UK national writing competitions.

Hope to see you there!

RecipeJunkie Sun 27-Jan-13 20:56:15

and after the comedy potato, check out my buns - I might hit 50,000 page views this evening, hence suggesting sauciness when in fact I'm talking breakfast...

Good morning. I have ranted about payday loans and other poverty traps today: pint-sized-rants.blogspot.fr/2013/01/a-rant-about-payday-loans-and-other.html?m=1

Will now check out the posts above. smile

To celebrate 200 years of Pride and Prejudice - I wrote a blog about playing the 'snog, marry..' game with Austen's heros. I think she would have approved ... maybe? Romancing Austen

During a brief stint teaching, my shoes were captured and held to ransom by students. I don’t remember the detail of their demands, just that I was handed menaces, printed across a photo of my missing footwear, by a good-natured 17-year-old called Simon.

I discovered a quick and simple storage tip so obvious that I'm amazed I've not seen it in all family homes:

I'm in a quandary about what to do with myself...

when I grow up I want to be?

Craftsonsea Tue 29-Jan-13 11:44:25

Sigh, no buns related posts for me sad It's my last day at work tomorrow, I can't find another job that pays enough to cover my childcare but I still think the new childcare ratios are a bad idea

RecipeJunkie Tue 29-Jan-13 12:41:32

CraftsonSea your post is brilliant and totally nails why the childcare ratios shouldn't be increased. Well done for making the Mumsentbloggers front page, too. So sorry that you haven't found anything else yet :-( - I wouldn't be wondering so much about wehre your post was in breach of the lbel laws, more whether making all the part timers redundant didn't in fact breach equal opportunities legislation...

MmeGuillotine Tue 29-Jan-13 12:50:27

I'm struggling with depression and writer's block right now so here's a really silly and pointless post about my love of make up.

Sorry to hear that Mme. This time of year is hard work sad

Usual frivolous sewing based wittering, this time about surviving January. Very original...

It's enough to reduce a grown woman to tears ...

MmeGuillotine Tue 29-Jan-13 13:23:05

Thanks Rhinestone! I'm not usually this bad but, yes, the weather isn't helping at all. I just want to stay in bed most days. sad

xx

MmeGuillotine Tue 29-Jan-13 14:14:50

FiveHours We have pretty much the exact same situation going on at our infants/junior school and it looks like they'll be amalgamated from September onwards. I'm presuming it's all gone ahead as we've just had a letter home telling us that both schools are getting a completely new uniform, which is a PITA for those of us who were planning to hand old jumpers down. ;)

Um, anyway, I shall watch your post with interest as I have no idea what to make of the whole thing! I don't know if we're supposed to be pleased or not!

katese11 Tue 29-Jan-13 14:44:06

This may not be the most original thing to post on around here, but hey...
A huge rant on why the major newspapers are ganging up to attack mothers this week

sloppy, ill-informed journalism makes me mad. Hulk SMASH.

katese11 Tue 29-Jan-13 14:44:37

And hugs to MmeG...sorry to hear you're not great.

TheNewson Tue 29-Jan-13 14:46:50

Instead, I was stuck - Augustus Gloop style - up the slide at Ankle Biters Playcentre, being de-wedged by a caterpillar mascot that looked like a giant purple penis, to the sound of small children singing the theme tune to The Teletubbies.

Something had to give. It did. The arse on my reinforced pregnancy jeans. During the walk of shame back to the high chaired seating area.

Thank you RecipeJunkie before I wrote the post my thought was "I would really like someone to say you've hit the nail on the head"! I don't think I quite managed it, but I'm happy enough smile Also sending some love towards MmeG and if that doesn't help some wine and thanks

Hi everyone! I've been out of the blogging loop for a while but have finally written something tonight! Out of my head please!. I don't think I'll be posting on here for a while as I'm feeling an urge to get back to blogging for myself. Will do my very best to check in on everyone else's posts thought smile
