Your days of chopping herbs are over (!). Enter Gourmet Garden Herbs and Spices' competition to find the best Blogger-Chef by 7th December, and you'll receive a pack of Gourmet Garden goodies to cook with and blog about. They're inviting keen cooks to share recipes which feature the Gourmet Garden Herbs & Spices products during a Blog Off between 26th November and 15th December 2012. Competing blogs will get a razzle-dazzle spotlight on the Gourmet Garden site too.

4 finalists from the Blog Off get to test their skillets at a live London-based Cook-Off, judged by one of Britain's much loved TV chefs - soon to be unveiled - the winner will be whisked away on a fully-funded trip to the Cook Off Conference in Australia in May 2013. The trip includes flights, a five night stay, a tour of some fine food attractions and a professional video of the cook-off. What's more, the winning blogger will receive £3,000 for a 12-month ambassador partnership with Gourmet Garden!

So what are you waiting for? Sign up for the competition by the 7th - on your forks, get set, GO!

What an a amazing prize! <goes off to quickly start a food blog>

KateMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 22-Nov-12 18:01:14

Isn't it! We're thinking about entering ourselves... wink

midnightexpress Thu 22-Nov-12 19:37:42

It does sound amazing. Watch out for number 13 in the T&C though. What exactly does that 1st sentence mean??:

All entries, blogs, recipes and photos become the property of the Promoter. By entering this competition, the entrants become a member of Gourmet Garden’s online membership database. They will receive regular e-newsletters if they choose to. By entering this competition it is taken as acceptance to the promoter using and disclosing your information as described above.

It just occurred to me that I signed up for this but haven't seen my herbs yet. Aren't we suppose to be cooking with them by now?

midnightexpress I will assume it means those specific blog entries about the competition the spices, not your entire blog. Although it is fairly vague!

TeeElfOnTeeShelf Wed 05-Dec-12 06:14:53

Finally got my herbs. Now to figure out what to cook with them...

daisy4mae Sat 08-Dec-12 11:30:30

Ok. So how do we let them know about our blogposts? I'm confused (could be the sleep deprivation...)

TeeElfOnTeeShelf Mon 10-Dec-12 09:58:55

I don't get it either daisy. There is no @, no #, no subject line they want, nothing. And if we were suppose to start cooking on 26th November, how come I didn't get my hers until 5th Dec?

There also isn't a place on their site to look at the blogs.

This has got to be the worst organized thing I have ever seen.

PorkyScratching Mon 10-Dec-12 18:07:18

I have created my blog post, but have no idea how to promote it? Deadline is the 12th!

PorkyScratching Mon 10-Dec-12 18:14:47

There appears to be a list of entrants here but Ihave no idea how you get on the list! Plus some of the links to blogs I clicked on had no recipe - I am very confused!

PorkyScratching Mon 10-Dec-12 18:15:43

Ignore that, it seems to be an old comp I think.

TeeElfOnTeeShelf Tue 11-Dec-12 17:47:36

The whole thing is very strange.HQ, do you know anything?

TeeElfOnTeeShelf Tue 11-Dec-12 21:12:47

I've just sent Gourmet Garden a message through their contact page to ask what is going on.

It actually closes the 15th, Porky.

TeeElfOnTeeShelf Wed 12-Dec-12 11:47:09

I've heard back from them. They are keeping an eye on all the blogs that have registered and a list should be going on on their site soon.

I still think it's being done very badly!!

Stitchthis Fri 14-Dec-12 07:02:28

You need to go to the UK site and the UK part of the competition is there. I've just realised I've got two days to blog my entry!!

Stitchthis Fri 14-Dec-12 22:49:31

I've done the first part of my entry

Stitchthis Mon 17-Dec-12 06:46:27

Did anybody else enter?! I've heard nothing...

PorkyScratching Mon 17-Dec-12 17:49:20

I did but also have heard nothing back.

daisy4mae Mon 17-Dec-12 22:11:54

Me too. Not sure what's going on!

TeeElfOnTeeShelf Mon 17-Dec-12 22:15:15

I got one email saying they were manually following all the blogs that had entered and we'd be notified when they were on their site.

I must say I am not impressed so far.

TeeElfOnTeeShelf Tue 18-Dec-12 06:49:50

Sorry, I just read what I wrote and it's wrong!

What they said was that if you link to their site, they will be notified that you've done a post and will go look at it. No tags, no @, no #.

Really badly done in general. I don't hold out much hope for this comp.

Does HQ have any thoughts? Are you sponsoring or just promoting?

RecipeJunkie Tue 18-Dec-12 08:18:30

I ended up emailing links to my posts to the guy whose name was on the letter that came out with the herbs. Fairly unsatisfactory all round I'd say

TeeElfOnTeeShelf Tue 18-Dec-12 08:27:34

I've reported this post to HQ to see what they know.

Stitchthis Tue 18-Dec-12 10:29:48

Nice one tee thanks

IceTheChristmasKateMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 18-Dec-12 14:48:38

Hi everyone,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We'll get in touch with the blogger team, and ask them to come and take a look at the thread,

TeeElfOnTeeShelf Tue 18-Dec-12 15:24:43

You mean they aren't glued to the forums!

shock

grin

KateMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 18-Dec-12 19:01:47

Hello all

Apologies, we are usually very much glued to the forums, but our pre-Christmas festivities workplan momentarily diverted our attention.

We'll draw this thread to the attention of the Gourmet Garden chaps right now, though, and let you know how how things stand as soon as we hear back.

TeeElfOnTeeShelf Tue 18-Dec-12 20:27:05

ACK! Two Kates!

::faints::

grin

Thanks KateBloggerMN and KateNotBloggerMN.

[likes those names better emoticon]

Stitchthis Wed 19-Dec-12 13:27:15

Thanks v much. I've been busy sewing corks onto my hat, I'd hate for it to be in vain...

madamegourmand Wed 19-Dec-12 14:04:44

I sent my entry link to the PR company who had sent me an email to let me know my pack was on it's way and have heard nothing since! I know they were keeping the competition open until Monday 17th due to people receiving their pack late.

TeeElfOnTeeShelf Wed 19-Dec-12 14:31:46

I did just get an email saying they will accept entries until the end of the year. Anyone else get that?

Stitchthis Wed 19-Dec-12 14:41:35

nooooo

TeeElfOnTeeShelf Wed 19-Dec-12 16:25:35

This is the email:

"Hello all,

It has been brought to our attention that we have had delays with pack deliveries which have made it difficult for some to complete entries by the submission date.

I wanted to let you all know that we will be happy to accept entries from everyone who has entered. Blog posts posted before the end of the year will be considered, so please do continue to utilise the herbs and spices.
Thank you to all of you who have already entered and especially those who have sent their posts to me.

Please do continue to send your posts in.

If you have any further questions etc. please do let me know.

NB: Entry has closed as usual, so there will be no further entries considered and no more products sent out.

Best wishes,
James"

Stitchthis Wed 19-Dec-12 19:14:42

Can You PM me his email address Tee and I'll send him a link to my blogs.

TeeElfOnTeeShelf Wed 19-Dec-12 19:28:15

Done, Stitch.

Stitchthis Wed 19-Dec-12 21:25:40

Tee2072Thing Sat 29-Dec-12 20:55:01

Has anyone heard anything?

daisy4mae Fri 04-Jan-13 14:38:23

Anything happening with this? I've heard nothing and can't see anything

Tee2072 Sat 05-Jan-13 21:18:48

Still not heard anything. I still hold out no hope. It was nice to get the free stuff, though!

Stitchthis Sun 13-Jan-13 22:55:05

Nothing!!!! I used the coriander today tho grin

Tee2072 Mon 14-Jan-13 20:47:24

Nothing. And I haven't used the tubes. I should probably throw them away at this point although I think I only opened a couple of them.

Wow. Great contest. hmm

RecipeJunkie Tue 22-Jan-13 17:55:08

Did anyone ever hear anything about this? Am assuming I didn't get through - I thought the cook off day was on Thursday - but it would be nice to have some feedback!

Tee2072 Tue 22-Jan-13 18:25:57

Nope. Not a word. Is it suppose to be this week?

Tee2072 Tue 22-Jan-13 18:27:09

Yeah. Just looked at the website. Nothing.

No date for part 2, either, but Australia bit is suppose to be in May.

RecipeJunkie Tue 22-Jan-13 18:53:50

I had in mind that the cook off date was Thurs but yes you're right the Aus trip is May - I just emailed them and got an out office from the James person saying he had left and giving an email of someone else. I have emailed...

Tee2072 Tue 22-Jan-13 19:09:10

Oh man. Yeah no hope for this at all.

RecipeJunkie Wed 23-Jan-13 06:28:01

Tee2072 Wed 23-Jan-13 09:26:10

Where did you find that?

KateMumsnet (MNHQ) Wed 23-Jan-13 12:46:32

Hello all

Just to let you know that we've been in touch with the guys at Gourmet Garden for an update as it seems from the thread that not everyone has had an email. We'll let you know as soon as we hear from them.

RecipeJunkie Wed 23-Jan-13 13:21:02

Rubbish that not everyone got the email - really badly organised - I got the email last night just after I'd sent an email to James McNicholas at EdenCanCan...

Tee2072 Wed 23-Jan-13 14:53:55

Nope, no sign of an email.

Won't be entering with them ever again.
