Help with blogging and twitter please!

I have just started up a blog and need a bit of help with getting the social media element right. I set up a Twitter account at the weekend and already got 30 views of my blog from one tweet, but I am a real novice at this so appreciate any tips. I am on Wordpress. Edin theme.

If I have a new post, how do I make that known on Twitter? Do I have to write a new tweet and paste in URL, or is there a way to automate this?

I would like social media buttons in my sidebar - how do I do this?

Also, is there anything I need to do to pictures before I upload them?

Wordpress has a good help forum which helped me with just these questions! Sorry I would answer but can't remember exactly what I did, it was a while ago. You can link your accounts so that when you post a blog entry you will tweet a link to it.

You either make new twit every time you have new post, manually (or add share baton to you blog and share your post through this baton) or you sign with some system that will do it automatically, i.e. you still have to pot the text for twit there but it will be scheduled the way you choose. I don't use the later ones - you could google. But as far as I remember one of the popular ones is called something like hootsuite.

Wordpress.org site have the ability to use Twitter-associated plug ins. That way every time you post, Twitter sends out a tweet about it automatically from your account.

I prefer to have control over the keywords and hashtags in my posts so I just tweet manually myself every time I do a new post.

Ooh, good topic, I'm wondering about this as well. I've only just started blogging and I've set up a facebook page as I feel comfortable with Facebook and have never really done anything with Twitter. I was wondering if there was much point as I wouldn't have many followers but if you can get 30 hits from a tweet maybe I should reconsider. I'm really just a Twitter noob and completely didn't consider that anyone could view the tweets even if they're not following you!

There's definitely plugins for adding social media buttons to the sidebar, I tried one and realised that it looked really tragic with just a facebook button so I uninstalled it, but maybe I should start branching out with other Social Media outlets after all.

Hi I'm using WordPress, have linked Twitter, Facebook as well as Instgram. Also use an app called IFTT, all works fine!
