It's basically like a diary really or a notebook - you find a subject (any subject!) that interests you and write about it.

If I were you I'd skim through the Mn blogs for ones that interest you and have a good read to see what they've done. Then you sign up for something like Blogger or Wordpress and create your own - you don't need a lot of skill for a basic blog.

Thank you very much Smile that was very helpful x

No problem. I'm not a MN blogger but I do dabble in it occasionally purely for my personal enjoyment (which I think is the best way TBH!). I read a few craft blogs regularly too.

JulieTurner · 25/03/2015 07:03

I Googled blogging about two weeks ago and ended up on the WordPress website. I have now set up a free blog (website) without any problem. Have a look //www.familyvine.me
I paid for the end .me bit, because my address would have been //www.Familyvine.WordPress.com and I could never remember the word WordPress lol
Good luck, and enjoy.

I want to do the same about my DS Nemo and his/our day to day love, life and laundry - which is what I'm going to call it! Grin

I just need the time, (which is now possible as I think my hand is fractured at the very least, long story) and to get organised.

Plus I'd like to link it to the Brave Babes as they are the reason I'm still alive and posting today. Blush

Anyway, I'll watch this thread and keep an eye out for advice if that's okay? Smile xx

I have a wordpress blog set up like a diary (www.coffeebreakblogger.com) of my life/family. I have only been doing it since February and I try to keep mine light and humorous to hopefully keep people reading! I have found that what I blog about people can relate to and have thanked me for putting things out there as now they feel that they are not the only ones who sometimes want to run away from being a mum!!
Good luck with your blog x

Welcome to Blogging! Just start!

Lots of people start with a Blogger blog, as they are quite easy to set up. I prefer Wordpress.org as you can install different themes and change colours, styles etc. They are a bit more complicated to get up and running, so you could start on Blogger and then move over later, if you find that you really enjoy it.

I've been blogging for many years and have some tips here on setting up a blog.

Trudester · 26/04/2015 17:49

So.... I find myself on the bloggers forum. Do people actually make money from blogging? If so, what generates the income? Is it from adverts that appear on your blog?

MmeLindor · 28/04/2015 21:53

Very few make money from blogging, and if that is your intention, I'd suggest you'd be better getting a part-time job somewhere!

Adverts don't bring an awful lot of money, unless you have a really large readership, or a very specific blog topic.

Lots of people use their blog to advertise their other work.

What kind of blog are you thinking of starting?

Trudester · 29/04/2015 14:23

Hey MmeLindor I've often thought about blogging as I've watched social media such as IG grow from the beginning, and find it fascinating that so many people are able to spread the word on either an interest or just to share their everyday lives with people from around the globe. I can also see from it that some people must be making money from some sort of endorsement when they hashtag certain brands etc. Some such people also seem to live in spectacular houses etc. There are also others that seem to spend a HUGE amount of time on for instance, fashion blogging, and makes me wonder how this is funded.

Trudester
I'd say that those who are making money from their blog are treating it as a job, not as a hobby. It takes a tremendous amount of time, and not everyone has that time.

Working with brands is a good way of making money, but you have to build your blog to a certain size, and have regular readers before you can do that. You can't just rock up and say, "Hi! I've just started a blog, and 100 people read it today. Would you like to work with me?".
