Cultural mum and baby outings

Hi Ladies! I am a working, qualified Doula who combines my passion for motherhood with my professional training as a Curator. I am always looking for new and exciting ways to combine these two roles, and I’d like to share my latest project with you all.

From September/October, I am planning on starting a series of 4 cultural outings a term for women and their babies that will comprise of - for example - short guided visits to selected exhibitions in London museums and galleries by me, talks by artists in their studios or other central location, a fun painting or drawing session to express all those hidden creative talents and some health related talks that will cover subjects such as positive body image, healthy mentalities and the importance of nutrition.

This idea has emerged from talking to many of my clients, and hearing their angst and frustrations as cultured, intelligent and educated women sorely missing an excuse to get dressed and do something for a few hours that, whilst still allowing you precious time with your baby, would also present an opportunity for something stimulating and social.

All venue choices will have access to baby changing facilities and a café within the venue or nearby to give everyone a chance to chat at the end and create friendships with people you may not know but, through the shared experience of motherhood, have a common language with.

At this point, I am registering interest for this venture. Although the timings for the sessions are not finalised, I’m thinking of putting on one session a week or arranging them for twice a month. To register your interest – with no obligation, of course – please email me on smaurer@btinternet.com To find out more about me, please visit my website: www.ukdoula.com.

Of course, please feel free to forward this onto any friends you think might be interested! I look forward to hearing from you all soon.

Shoshana
