12/15 hours Free entitlement to nursery education

I am sending my daughter to a private nursery for 3.5hours per morning Monday-Friday .

On the basis that I know each 3 and 4 year old child receives either 12 or 15 hours a week free entitlement, I signed up, paid the deposit and then received the bill! On questioning this with the Burser I was told that I was only entitled to 6 hours based on how they allocate the 'free hours'. She said if I put my DD in nursery in the afternoons only, I can claim all of the free hours.

When I spoke to the nursery initially, they told me that they charge more in the mornings as a lot of the teaching was done then. The morning session is £27 and the afternoon one is £10.

I thought the policy of free nursery hours was a simple one! Can anyone help by letting me know if the nursery can do this?

I think they are able to choose which hours they offer as the free hours as they are a private nursery. You have the option of afternoons to get your free hours
