Does your view perception of mental illness close doors or open them?

Interesting piece. I have BPD myself, and trying to locate the positives can help. Sometimes. BPD sufferers work brilliantly in positions of care because they are overly sympathetic, for example.

Your phrase 'state of mind' does grate me slightly however, as that indicates having control over it, and it really isn't that simple.

A diagnosis of mental illness is seen as a death-sentence for an individual's dreams and ambitions, yet plenty of people lead successful lives in spite of it. Mental illness, like mental health, is a state of mind...
