Stats, comments, relationships? What floats your boat?

So what means the most to you stats, comments or online relationships?

When I started off I would be hurt by no comments which then grew to obsessing over stats.

I have now realised what it is about blogging I love. It's building online relationships and having an insight into lives that I normally wouldn't such as how families cope with sn.

So what floats your boat about blogging?

Well I want to write books, so what floats my boat is seeing my stats grow steadily, however slowly. I love comments, because it means people are engaging with my writing and enjoying it. And I'm enjoying building up relationships with my readers through twitter and the facebook page :)

So, kind of all three...Grin

Like FB, a combination of all three.

Stats growing means that people are reading my blog. And I like the fact that my stats show that people often stay on the blog and read some other posts.

Comments are always welcome as they show my readers enjoyed, agreed and sometimes disagreed with my post.

Building online relationships is a joy in itself, but also connected to the above. By building online friendships, I am connecting to others but also helping stats and comments to grow.

Heh, one of the favourite things about my blog is seeing the words people have put in to find it-'sexy chinese girl riding a unicycle' etc.

It genuinely scares me that people are sat at their computers looking for pictures of 'naked scarecrows'.

I'd agree - all three. I love readin comments, and I love commenting on other people's blogs (and spend far too much time doing so). I really love watching my feed in real time. And I am starting to build up some relationships with people online, which is nice.

I haven't had any interesting google searches though - nothing out of the ordinary anyway.

I like the stats. I also like the comments. I haven't really made any relationships because of my blog, but I'm quite careful about keeping it separate from my real life.

I love them all. Comments are always lovely but my stats are really really important to me (when I have a low day it gets me down!).

I like following other people's blogs regularly and enjoy some of the relationships I've built up with other bloggers where we always comment on each other's posts, but ultimately if I could never view my stats again I would be very twitchy and obsessed.

I will have a party when I hit 50,000 views. Hopefully before the year is out.

If I ever get 50,000 views I'll die happy. Or of shock Grin

50 000 a month? Or altogether?

If I get 500 views that'll be nice :)

I like the stats because there is a graph. I like graphs.

I mean altogether. I've actually been a bot down the last two days as I hardly got any hits. Yes, I know, my posts must have been boring but I was getting used to the 50-100 a day on new post days thanks to the MN network and today I'm only at 30.

But since before I was lucky to have 5 I guess I should be grateful.

Have just looked up both blogs, old and new and found that I have had 30,500 views.

Would never have thought it was as much as that.

Still a while to go before I hit 50 000 though.

I love stats. I like to know people are reading.

More comments would be nice, though!

And I like making friends with y'all also. Grin

[geek emoticon]

I have just started a spreadsheet as I am still getting hits on the old blog url, to see how many hits I am getting altogether.

Strange, that I am still getting a lot of hits on the old blog, and on the ancient blogger one - about 600 hits a month on the blogger one that has not been updated for months. Blogger is google, right? They must skew the search results toward Blogger blogs, as I imported the old posts into WP blog.

I'm coming up to 600,000 views now. When I hit 1 million, I intend to do a vlog post of a Victorian prostitute striptease.

The thing I like best about blogging is connecting with other bloggers. I'm not all that hung up on stats and comments really.

I am SO posting that comment on Twitter - we will have you up to a million hits before you can blink if that is to be the "reward"

Haha, I mean it! I have my costume planned and everything! I get about 40,000 views a month so er counts on fingers, I have a bit of time to lose weight... ;)

OMG I want 40.000 a month. Though I guess I'd have to write a book as fabulous as yours (yes I am reading it started this morning!!!)

MmeGuillotine · 16/09/2011 22:55

I just wish everyone who visits would buy a copy of my book, but sales are increasing every month so I live in hope! Thank YOU for buying a copy though! xxxx

I might PM you re self publishing at some point (if indeed that is what you did)

To be honest I bought the book as I wanted to help a fellow MNer but as I love historical fiction it really wasn't a hardship :)

MmeGuillotine · 16/09/2011 23:12

Yes, I self published (I'm too impatient and control freakish to deal with agents and publishers) and am happy to chat about it! I have some posts on my blog about publishing with Kindle and Lulu and stuff. :)

Maybe I should post the links here if anyone is interested in reading more about the process? :)

Aw, that's very kind of you! :)

Well done all of you with such great stats!

I am considerably lower, so have a question: does filling in the tag box help? I rarely do you see...
