His name is on my profile, so far it's provoked a strong reaction . He weighed 8 lb 7 oz at birth, more then a pound bigger then my other babies.
He was born 11 days ago at 4am, after a seven hour labour, at home in the birthing pool, with a lovely midwife in attendance. It was painful (they don't give gas & air or pethidine during labour in Belgium), but it was definitely the easiest birth of the three. I held him immediately and that was just the most wonderful moment. DD1 and DD2 slept through the whole drama, awaking at 5.30am to find me cuddling their new brother.
I lost a large amount of blood after the birth but fortunately the midwives knew what to do. Only now am I starting to feel a bit recovered.
Breastfeeding has been difficult, especially when I developed mastitis and I've been taking antibiotics. DS is feeding well and putting on weight, he's so far a very calm baby.
Thank you to everyone who has already wished me congratulations
congratulations belgo - glad you are recovering As for your DS's name I wouldn't have the guts to use it myself but I think it is very cool and am a bit jealous of people who can go for such gutsy names. Fab!
I phoned my parents at four in the mornign to tell them he had been born, and they were speechless at the name, but in our defense it's a normal, if rather unusual name in Belgium, and it was the only name we agreed on.
Fab name, well done for choosing the name that you wanted and to hell with anyone who rolls their eyes. (Assuming that a few of your relatives have already done the eyerolling and "Oooh, that is unusual! bit)
Congratulations! Cool name (although I'd never think of using it myself, being a member of the traditional name brigade) - my first reaction when I read it was, "How cool!".
Congratulations, well done and I'm glad you have had another successful homebirth. Interesting name, do your dd's have interesting names too? Am intreagued now!
Well done and congratulations Belgo. It has been a long time since i first saw you announcement but was rushed and couldn't post at the time. Hope things are still going swimmingly.
