Scared!

Hi everyone!

I'm 10 weeks pregnant today and I have been waiting until I'm 12 weeks pregnant to tell family and friends that I'm pregnant because apparently that's a good time to it. Because this is only 2 weeks away I'm starting to get really scared now, I'm only 18 and even though I have a boyfriend and we live together in our flat and have decent jobs I still know my age might worry my family and maybe disappoint them. I'm not too scared because my mum, sister and brother have all had kids young so hopefully it won't come as too much of a shock that I'm the same. Can anyone give me advice on how you all told friends and family? how long did you wait to tell? who did you tell first? I don't know if I'm over thinking it but I'm just so worried:(

Thanks xx

Firstly, if you're happy then try not to worry, honestly! You've got your own place, a boyfriend and a job (so are in a much better position than I was) - so everything will be fine! Especially as your family are used to people having children young, I'm sure things will be fine. You're almost definitely overthinking but that's okay; you have every right to! This is a big deal!

I fell pregnant with my daughters at 19, while abroad travelling with friends. No boyfriend, no job that could support a child and no close support. By the time I found out I was pregnant I had already left the country I met their father in... ANYWAY, I too waited until I was 12 weeks to tell my family, but mainly because that was roughly around my birthday and my parents were coming out to see me so I could tell them face-to-face (that was the plan anyway), and I panicked just before meeting my parents from the airport and texted all my siblings to tell them. And then I just blurted out that I was pregnant to my parents and started crying in the airport... Not ideal. My parents were pretty shocked but my siblings went CRAZY (probably because I told them by text...again, not ideal) - but everyone calmed down and things went relatively smoothly after the initial shock - as they always do!

Good luck with telling your family, and congratulations on your pregnancy!

I imagine you are anxious because you don't know if they will approve? Try to answer this: is there are any reason (apart from your age supposedly, which I don't think is an issue) for your parents to not support your decision to have a baby?
