New thread for the hench chiefs from chat. wink

Pinot Thu 10-Jan-13 20:32:52

Chief!

CarriedAwayAnnie Thu 10-Jan-13 20:35:28

Nice title Chief!

Alright chiefs
I'm going to bed in a minute to avoid further temptation. It was also my first day in a new job today and I'm totally pooped.

DottyDot Thu 10-Jan-13 20:36:19

signing in Chief! Bad day today - had to work away from home and it always goes enormous tits up when I'm not in my usual routine.

Right then. Back to normal tomorrow - have been doing really well until today. I started being all healthy again (apart from wine at the weekends, obv) last Wednesday and had managed to shift 4lbs of the 12lbs or so I'd put on over Christmas blush

Today was just a slip. <repeat until it's tomorrow>

juneybean Thu 10-Jan-13 20:37:48

Pitching a tent chief

CarriedAwayAnnie Thu 10-Jan-13 20:40:10

Daft question but is lean ham just ham off the deli with any fat cut off?

Pinot Thu 10-Jan-13 20:41:12

Oh lula! How did it go?

Carrie - I would assume so

Chubfuddler Thu 10-Jan-13 20:41:16

Alright chiefs.

Although I'm doing SW rather than calorie counting on mfp I'm going to gang around here like I used to stand near the cool girls at school.

When I enthusiastically enrolled last night I somehow forgot we are going away for the weekend to center parcs.

Two words

Pancake
House

Oops.

nilbyname Thu 10-Jan-13 20:43:08

How chiefs!

Chubfuddler Thu 10-Jan-13 20:46:17

I've just measured my thighs.

26 inches.

My waist isn't much more. I am deformed.

<sob>

aJumpedUpPantryBoy Thu 10-Jan-13 20:46:44

I've just completed by Tesco order - it was very sensible and healthy until I read about the possibility of snow and then I felt obliged to add some delicious sugary fattening treats just in case we get snowed in.

sassytheFIRST Thu 10-Jan-13 20:48:22

Nipping in to say 10 days with no booze! Not managed this since pregnancy. And before that not since I lived in USA and was under 21. My liver must be happier.

PinkyCheesy Thu 10-Jan-13 20:48:28

Evening chafers grin
Am also having an early night with Harry Cunningham (Silent Witness)!

BupcakesAndCunting Thu 10-Jan-13 20:48:38

Fucking hell, if I tried to measure my thighs the tape measure would say "to be continued..."

RandallPinkFloyd Thu 10-Jan-13 20:49:02

Cheesy carb chief signing in.

Chubfuddler Thu 10-Jan-13 20:49:13

Rubbish. You are a sylph compared to me.

botoxschmotox Thu 10-Jan-13 20:52:54

Am signing up to this thread if that's ok. Am joining MFP too, but scales are in the shed and it's too dark to trot down and get them tonight, so will start it all tomorrow. I lost 3.5 stone 3 years ago, and kept it off for over 2 years but its crept back on again over the last year. Bastard chocolate.
I have very little motivation though, so am really hoping a bit of virtual fat club will do the trick!

DoubleMum Thu 10-Jan-13 20:53:01

LOL at the title, sounds strangely realistic, there probably was once a Big Chief Thigh Chaffe.
I don't want to think about my thighs, or weighing my boobs, although I would often like to get rid of my boobs. Having a mammogram was one of the most intensely painful moments of my life, and I'd be very glad to have a lot less to squash. <wince>
DH is out and I'm not hungry but I feel picky. The sweet bag is calling me. Help me resist.

Lizzylou Thu 10-Jan-13 20:54:31

My thighs are huge.
But decreasing.

I think I am going to give myself (non-food) treats at 1/2 stone intervals to inspire me.
First 1/2 stone, facial.
Stone, new Just Dance DVD.
Stone and a 1/2, new gym clothes.
For 2 stone I think I'd rather like Daniel Craig.

BupcakesAndCunting Thu 10-Jan-13 20:57:51

I'm going to treat myself to the facial oil that they're selling in Aldi from sunday.

Yeah I know how to live.

nilbyname Thu 10-Jan-13 20:58:16

lizzy that is such a good idea.

I want a new leather jacket...that could be the big one.

CarriedAwayAnnie Thu 10-Jan-13 20:58:16

Don't so it Doublemum, you'll regret it in the morning! Have a cheese triangle ...

laurenamium Thu 10-Jan-13 20:58:21

grin marking my spot!

Arf at to be continued!

Another one going to bed soon to avoid temptation!

laurenamium Thu 10-Jan-13 21:01:10

PS I'm your boob twin bupcake!

Lizzylou Thu 10-Jan-13 21:03:28

I've just seen the price of facials, maybe just my eyebrows done then. Unless I come into some wonga.

I am working up to getting DH do a before photo of me, not to be shown until I can do an after though.

I do need to do pampering as I am about to be a big number. And I don't deal with birthdays v well at the best of times.

DottyDot Thu 10-Jan-13 21:04:00

bloody hell I've never measured my thighs before - 25" blush. Miniscule compared to my non existant waist and frankly ridiculously big norkage area (so big it is an actual geographical area).

But hey, I think that kind of means I'm kind of in proportion <eternal optimist>

Lizzylou Thu 10-Jan-13 21:04:45

Oh and boob wise am a 34GG.

DH calls me Gina G hmm

For years I thought I was 38D. God bless Bravissimo.

chibi Thu 10-Jan-13 21:07:50

out of curiosity, what made you go with Big Chief Thunder Chaffe when you could have had Super Chinky's Rice Pagoda or Signor Wop's Pasta Palace?

oh,it's only lulz,i know confused

chibi Thu 10-Jan-13 21:08:46

sorry, Big Chief Thigh Chaffe, so important to get these things right!

juneybean Thu 10-Jan-13 21:12:47

did you want a grip?

Chubfuddler Thu 10-Jan-13 21:14:45

To cheer myself up I've just painted my nails for the first time in about ten years. I rather like them. Short painted nails are fashionable aren't they? No one had talons anymore.

hugoagogo Thu 10-Jan-13 21:15:19

Oh Lizzy, that is a good idea <except the Daniel Craig bit, obviously you meant John Cusack>

I shall have to make a list, I love lists. grin

I did not get a chance to post on the old thread, it took me forever to read the thing, but I need to lose about 5 and half stone, or 4 at least. I've done it before. Idiot.

So can I join pleeeez?

Lizzylou Thu 10-Jan-13 21:16:16

Chibi? You OK?

ScarfHatSunglasses Thu 10-Jan-13 21:16:25

Ah yes bravissimo. I'm a 36g and that shop has changed my life.

Of course after this I'll be a 32c hmm and will happily parade around in a bikini on holiday shame about the snow-blindness-inducing skin

Chubfuddler Thu 10-Jan-13 21:18:21

Me? I'm fine lovely. Just recovering from thigh measuring. And not drinking wine. The nails were a distraction.

I understand how some women have nice hair and nails now. It's like an epiphany. When their children are in bed they do stuff like a mani-ped or an exercise video instead of glugging wine and eating the fridge.

chibi Thu 10-Jan-13 21:19:18

sorry,Big Chief Thunder Chaffe, people signing in with How, it reads just as gross as the stupid slur titles i suggested. no, i'm not ok, i think you could have had your fun lighthearted thread without the racism. sorry.

Lizzylou Thu 10-Jan-13 21:19:22

Excellent taste Hugo, John Cusack is rather lovely. Jump on in!

Chub, I have been making a concerted effort since just before Christmas to paint my nails, cleanse tone moisturise, just be a bit more groomed. Gets your head in the right place for feeling like you are worth the effort for losing weight iyswim.

And I so needed to do something, the just jumped out of bed look is fine on a 20 something, not so good when you are 39 and 3/4.

laurenamium Thu 10-Jan-13 21:21:21

<hands chief chibi Vaseline for her thigh chaffe>

Chubfuddler Thu 10-Jan-13 21:21:34

Oh you were talking to chibi about her insane rant as you were.

chibi Thu 10-Jan-13 21:26:15

not liking racist bullshit = insane? interesting. what shitty racist tropes do you have in mind for the next thread?

Lizzylou Thu 10-Jan-13 21:26:49

But I also care about you Chub! And I am VERY glad that you are OK.
Was just trying to do a head tilt thang to deflectwink

Does rolling my eyes count as exercise? Jeeeez!

I have decided to give up chocolate completely for a while, I will be like an evangelical ex-smoker "no thanks, I'm chocolate free". Only I can't just eat one square, I'll eat the whole lot, and fun size doesn't work for me. I think it's just easier to wean myself off, it's been 4 days without it and it's getting easier. sounds like drug addict
I'll still have occasional cakes and biscuits as I like them but don't go into a frenzy for them.

I'm going to attempt a chick pea and squash curry tomorrow, I hope it's not ming, not following a recipe just using up what I have and making it up as I go along. hmm

Chubfuddler Thu 10-Jan-13 21:28:17

We are not being racist. Seriously, the reference to "chief" isn't even about native Americans. Do go and be tiresome elsewhere.

PoohBearsHole Thu 10-Jan-13 21:28:28

OK I admit I got the cals wrong and it is 381 cals for my Aubergine, but you could probably put more toms and garlic and less mozarella or half fat mozarella, which I didn't use this time. Also I would perhaps in future cut out the breadcrumbs, nice but not that bothered to be hones. Aubergine logs at about 20 cals per 100g and it is filling and a good alternative to meat!

So glad I found ou here!

juneybean Thu 10-Jan-13 21:29:06

I'm so confused how people are eating less than 1000 calories, I thought that was a big no?

laurenamium Thu 10-Jan-13 21:29:32

chibi may I suggest you go and find the original thread in chat. And read it. You are reading far too much into this. No one here is racist that i know of it's just a thread title based on what everyone was talking about in the previous thread- chaffing thighs and being called chief instead of a fox...

That looks lovely Pooh, and 381 calories is still 'cheap' for a main meal. smile

Lizzylou Thu 10-Jan-13 21:31:22

Am so doing that recipe Pooh, sounds lovely.

May put some pinenuts on in replacement of breadcrumbs.

I am thinking maybe being outraged of Tunbridge Wells could count on MFP "LizzylouM was outraged needlessly for 15 minutes and burned 350 calories".

GetOrf Thu 10-Jan-13 21:38:56

Chibi we are not racist twats - the big chief thing is due to a 1000 post thread where someone posted that her colleagues used to call her babe (or summat) and now she is a bit older and fatter they call her chief. Just a joke. Fuck all about native americans.

Anyway, I am 34B, you bunch of twats. <Sadface>

After snorting my way through the last thread I was inspired to put my fat ass on the scales because my chicken fillets for pert norkage, which I thought I'd left at a pal's wedding, appear to have somehow got lodged under the skin of my waist and are very prominent whilst jean wearing.

<wails>

I couldn't fecking read the scales. I'm only 5ft 3 - it isn't that far. I had to put on glasses.

I've put on a stone. And I still had half a stone to loose!

I'm 40, need to lose a stone and a half and from now I can't be naked to weigh myself. I bet glasses add pounds.

I don't look that bad in the mirror but perhaps it's because I hold my tummy in and don't wear my glasses

I'm a week behind you all. Thank you though for inspiring me. I'm now on it!

Lizzylou Thu 10-Jan-13 21:43:19

Tea, I am blind also, hadn't thought that my glasses may add weight! Nice one, contacts in before next weigh in.
I do empathise, I look fucking fabulous in the mirror without lenses/glasses. Mind, I am v blind!

Getorf, sad bet both your thighs = one of mine though.

Perhaps we should just put CUNT in the next thread title???

GetOrf Thu 10-Jan-13 21:45:01

Lol at not being able to see the scales. I am the same, I have to put my glasses down, and when I look down my glasses fall off my face (need new glasses).

Queen Chief signing in! Evening all, see someone's got their knickers in a twist over invisible racism hmm.

Was doing so well, and have just scarfed about 20 maltesers...why?! Haven't weighed myself yet, am hoping to take inspiration from Pinot and lose a load over the weekend grin. I have even saved the "hard" quote as my ipad screensaver for a little bit of extra motivation.

Keep the faith chiefs and keep drinking that water.

GetOrf Thu 10-Jan-13 21:48:22

Don't you hate it when you get a new eye prescription. Thwn you look in the mirror with your new lenses and see how bloody ravaged you look without the airbrush effect of lenses which are too weak.

It's like looking at yourself in HD. It's enough to make you want to stay half blind.

Next thread FAT ATROCIOUS CUNTS

DoubleMum Thu 10-Jan-13 21:49:40

I have resisted sweets - it was the thought of measuring my thighs that did it. Enough to put anyone off their food really.
DH is grumpy as he is 1 week into no alcohol (as am I, but am not grumpy). Might just go to bed and read my book TBH, downstairs is vair boring without sweets.

CarriedAwayAnnie Thu 10-Jan-13 21:50:17

PoohBearsHole - Have you got the recipe for your low fat gammon stew?

GetOrf Thu 10-Jan-13 21:50:51

I only did 14 lengths as I swam after I ate and I felt icky. Did my whole weights circuit though. My arms are so weak. I felt like a twat with my machine set to 15 when all the great big beefy bloked have it set to 125 or something.

PoohBearsHole Thu 10-Jan-13 21:50:52

I have digital scales, that keep the number on for a minute or two afterwards, then I get off and bend own to read it. Dh never gets to see the dark side of he moon grin

Incidentally was a certin poster on the last thread or just visiting? Are we a quiche? Is it low fat? AM I PART OF A QUICHE <jumps excitedly up and down on sofa o cn log on mfp>

laurenamium Thu 10-Jan-13 21:51:57

grin at next thread title getorf!

I boredom eat, so I've taken to cleaning/ pampering on an evening. Tonight is a pedicure!

ScarfHatSunglasses Thu 10-Jan-13 21:52:01

Oh have I got this thread all wrong?

<takes off feather headdress>

sad

WiseKneeHair Thu 10-Jan-13 21:52:08

Evening Chaffers. Great name.
I've just finished reading the end of the last thread and was sniggering out loud at pinot weighing her boobs! DH thinks it would be a good idea for me to weigh mine. only chance he gets to cop a feel
I've had a lovely day at a spa today <non stealth boast> but relatively pleased with how I've done.
I'm having my first alcoholic drink of 2013: 79 calories of G&slimlineT. Mmm.

WiseKneeHair Thu 10-Jan-13 21:53:31

Oo, my glasses must weigh 2 and a half fucking stone.

WiseKneeHair Thu 10-Jan-13 21:55:53

Can anyone else not hear when they aren't wearing their glasses?

NeedChoos Thu 10-Jan-13 21:58:05

Evening chiefs!!

Chibi - do keep up. At least wait to be hurt before you start shouting!

<twirls> I'm 3 and a half pounds lighter - see my slightly lighter frame ruined by shred!!

Back hamster are still in residence and bingo wing flappage still at maximum lift but we are on our way! Woohoo
grin

GetOrf Thu 10-Jan-13 21:58:13

No, but I have scoured the house in rage looking for my glasses when I have been actually wearing them.

YY to them falling off , along with much wriggling to keep hair out of eyes. It took ages for the needle of doom to settle. And I was caught naked except glasses, on the scales mid-afternoon by my DH and smallest boy. It was a shaming experience to rival being caught snogging in the graveyard by Father Patrick.

Today I ate a mince pie before I realised I had to act. This evening acting consisted of one gin and slimline tonic instead of half a bottle of wine. <sigh>

I think I'm going to have to log the food and exercise on MFP.

PoohBearsHole Thu 10-Jan-13 21:59:59

Lizzylou Thu 10-Jan-13 22:00:16

A spa Wise? How lovely!

Getorf, so next thread title. How do exercise so late on? If I exercise any later than 8pm I don't sleep till midnight at least.

Scarf grin Naughty!

I must hold my hands up and confess. I just watched 20 minutes of Celeb Big Brother. I enjoyed it. I feel I must bathe in bleach or something.

What was that Wise? Put my glasses down <raises ear trumpet>

DoubleMum Thu 10-Jan-13 22:02:22

Well done needchoos, soon the back hamsters will have shrunk to mere dormice.

DeafLeopard Thu 10-Jan-13 22:03:23

PoohBear don't talk about quiche please, DH bought one back from the farm shop tonight for dinner tomorrow and I can't stop thinking about it <<tummy rumbles>>

laurenamium Thu 10-Jan-13 22:04:59

lizzy I watch celeb BB and record it when I'm not in blush

MaureenShit Thu 10-Jan-13 22:05:13

What's with all the chiefing?

NeedChoos Thu 10-Jan-13 22:06:29

Thanks doubleMum smile

Tea gin has an excellent exchange rate for WW points only 2 - so 2 gins to 1 glass of wine!! Now you're talking..

CarriedAwayAnnie Thu 10-Jan-13 22:07:03

PoohBearsHole - Thank you! Sounds so good even if I will end up drinking the rest of the wine.

If I left the potatoes in but only served them to the dc that would be ok wouldn't it? I would still be classed as spud free? Or would the starch in the cooking rule that out?

CarriedAwayAnnie Thu 10-Jan-13 22:08:54

The origin of Chief:

merlottits Mon 07-Jan-13 12:58:03
I'm also fat. So blimin' fat. I used to be slim. I used to run 10k. Then I had my 3rd baby and it all went tits up and now I'm a blimp.
Sadly I do not carry weight well. I look butch and hard. Strange men used to call me sexy, they now call me.....'Chief'. <<weeps>>

PoohBearsHole Thu 10-Jan-13 22:12:59

In the words of ds Carried errr? He isn't even a Kevin styley teen but a belligerent 2! And scrummy!

GetOrf Thu 10-Jan-13 22:13:17

I like late exercise, lizzy, I can never do anything in the morning though. If I go to the gym before 12 I end up giving up.

I can have a double espresso and go straight to bed, though. Just drop straight off, luckily.

hugoagogo Thu 10-Jan-13 22:14:05

I am never going to have time to eat again if this thread keeps filling up so fast.

<thinks for a minute> Ahh! smile

PoppadomPreach Thu 10-Jan-13 22:17:14

Can I join please? Started MFP at last week. Would like to lose 3 stones this year. Gradual build up of reserves since I met DH. Sure my hair has got heavier however....

I did a bit of research into natural appetite suppressants and one of the things that came up a few times were linseeds (flax). I have to say on the days ive had a spoonful of them, I have definitely had less of an urge to eat. But perhaps I'm just imagining it?

CarriedAwayAnnie Thu 10-Jan-13 22:17:42

Lol pooh! I read that back and knew it was jumble!

I mean I wanna keep the spuds in for the dc but will that mean I get the white carbs as well - even if I don't eat them?

If that doesn't make sense then just ignore. Clearly I need to go to bed!

Lizzylou Thu 10-Jan-13 22:21:40

Adds Linseed to shopping list, thanks Poppadum.

Getorf, am exact opposite. Am at best (exercise wise anyway) first thing. I drink coffee in bed and sleep fine, but if I exercise after 8pm am awake all night.

Last Saturday had done Tescos shop, been to the gym and was home by 9am. I think I have sleep stored from my student days when I slept till 1pm everyday.

TheCrackFox Thu 10-Jan-13 22:31:59

Can I join the fellow chiefs? In Scotland so I get called pal, a lot. Sob.

There is no fucking way I am measuring my thighs.

I am off the booze, chocs and crisps this month. This is not a happy home.

GetOrf Thu 10-Jan-13 22:36:25

Lol at pal

I am under my cals for the day - 900. That was brie, toast, sauteed potatoes and a club sandwich. But that was all scoffed within an hour at the end of the day - not exactly healthy.

DoubleMum Thu 10-Jan-13 22:36:40

DH has just had a fake beer and says he feels drunk. Perhaps we need some fake chocolate.
And fake crisps.
And fake sticky toffee puddings ...

DoubleMum Thu 10-Jan-13 22:37:36

Getorf it might not be very healthy but it sounds very nice. <drool>

PoohBearsHole Thu 10-Jan-13 22:40:00

CAA not got a clue, am not tht knowledgeable, that's why I was saying errr? grin not cos I didnt understand you x

MaureenShit Thu 10-Jan-13 22:41:15

I think the mfp calories given for exercise are OTT

DeafLeopard Thu 10-Jan-13 22:44:34

Maureen I refuse to believe you

GetOrf Thu 10-Jan-13 22:46:34

I think some are. But today's seem pretty accurate - 15 mins swimming, 160 cals or something, 20 mins weight training, 67 cals.

I don't care really - I never eat the extra it gives iyswim. Just eat the allowance up to 1200 and the cals burned off is a bonus.

DoubleMum Thu 10-Jan-13 22:47:17

So do I. I WANT to be able to eat a cream egg if I put the hoover round. <stamps foot>

superbaghag Thu 10-Jan-13 22:47:52

found you all...

I got lost.

On target today but i really struggle on weekends. What am I going to do when he brings home the chinese takeaway tomorrow??

juneybean Thu 10-Jan-13 22:48:29

I think the fatter you are the more calories you burn during exercise

laurenamium Thu 10-Jan-13 22:51:50

I had a HRM once I lost it and the calories are pretty much the same as what I was burning if I remember rightly!

PinkyCheesy Thu 10-Jan-13 22:54:12

Wow
Wow
Wow
I'm in a QUICHE
grin
faints

Lizzylou Thu 10-Jan-13 22:56:10

Maureen, I think I agree, they are not v accurate. Or keeping up with the times. No Zumba, no shred, no Kettlecise, no spinning.

I am getting hot under the collar watching Question Time, must be worth an extra 100 cals for righteous indignation at least??

TheCrackFox Thu 10-Jan-13 22:56:51

Mmmmm. Quiche. Drool.

snice Thu 10-Jan-13 22:56:51

I have had a terrible false start to this whole enterprise. I'm so greedy that I couldn't bear to throw out all the Christmas lovelies so have eaten all manner of calorie laden crapola since the weekend and have done no exercise.

feel a bit ashamed reading all about everyones shredding/swimming/gym etc

but not too ashamed to just eat a bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes

TheCrackFox Thu 10-Jan-13 23:00:07

Don't be hard on yourself, Snide. Start in earnest tomorrow.

snice Thu 10-Jan-13 23:03:18

am in a rut of self loathing that sends me scuttling to the biscuit tin every night-if I just ate the meals I make I'd be fine but I eat about another 500 cals a day in biscuits/crisps/random pieces of cheese

hevak Thu 10-Jan-13 23:03:26

Thanks for the new thread, I've just caught up. I'm hoping our kitchen will be finished tomorrow so I can start cooking properly over the weekend. Surviving on soups and the "healthy" ranges of ready meals is starting to get rather dull! and everyone's recipes are making my fingers twitch to start cooking

Weighing boobs had me laughing! I actually went hunting for the scales last night but couldn't find them confused I actually think DP might have hidden them from himself as he has just as much weight to lose as I do even if he won't admit it grin

I'm off to check MFP now I've caught up with the thread, then I'm heading to bed!

hevak Thu 10-Jan-13 23:08:33

Ah, snice, I have been there far, far more often than I'd like to admit and it sucks. I've gone down the route of simply not having any of that stuff in the house, otherwise I stand no chance - clearly I have no willpower.

I read a really interesting book a while ago (I'll try and remember the title later, it's escaped my mind) which explained the link between exercise and mood really well. Since I've been exercising every day I've stopped craving the "bad" foods so much, it took about 4-5 days of exercise before the cravings stopped though.

snice Thu 10-Jan-13 23:10:33

I know you're right but its the thought of the first week and never sitting with a book and a packet of choc digestives again sad

hevak Thu 10-Jan-13 23:11:32

I should clarify that I no longer have the desire to binge on "bad" foods (ie. eat 1000 calories of it in one go), rather than I have no desire to have any bad food whatsoever!

juneybean Thu 10-Jan-13 23:11:46

But it's okay to do that... as long as it's not every day. I know what you mean though I do think gosh am I going to be eating a salad for the rest of my life but then I think it's all in moderation. A packet of digestives one day, a salad for the next 6 to counteract it.

juneybean Thu 10-Jan-13 23:14:20

I'm not suggesting a digestive diet there btw.... just meant that although you're changing your habits, a rare blow out isn't the end of the world.

shine0ncrazydiamond Thu 10-Jan-13 23:15:44

Hello,

Can I still join you?

I have eaten quite a few Reece's Peanut Butter cups today.

shine0ncrazydiamond Thu 10-Jan-13 23:15:57

I'll have a read through of thread

juneybean Thu 10-Jan-13 23:17:10

Oh Shine you just reminded me.... I tried a reese's peanut butter cup for the first time last month and I've never been a fan of peanut butter but they were rather moreish.

Does peanut butter taste the same? (it's been literally decades since I last had peanut butter) but I don't want to buy a jar if I'm not going to like it. I thought I could get some protein from it.

snice Thu 10-Jan-13 23:17:32

I feel ridiculously cheered about guru ShineOn's Peanut Butter frenzy-it gives me hope

hevak Thu 10-Jan-13 23:17:44

Oh, I know - you just have to choose to replace it with something else. I used to be able to eat a whole pack of caramel digestives plus a pack of foxes double choc chip cookies plus a 2 litre bottle of diet coke during one film on consecutive Friday and Saturday nights every weekend - so as you can see, I was really bad!

That was 2 years ago now. I started by cutting down for a couple of weeks and then just not buying the stuff so it wasn't in the house to tempt me. It took a lot of willpower initially to get off the bus (stop was right outside the shop) after work and walk past the shop to go home without stopping to buy something. I literally had to talk to myself (in my head of course!) and say "I will not walk into the shop, I will go straight home."

I used to use food as a reward and to cheer myself up, then I switched to beauty products/make up etc and now I'm happy to watch Lisa Eldridge's make up tutorials and not even waste money on beauty stuff I don't need! It's honestly been a revolution, although it was in fits and starts.

snice Thu 10-Jan-13 23:18:41

god-don't buy peanut butter-its a short step to standing in the kitchen eating it straight from the jar with a teaspoon

shine0ncrazydiamond Thu 10-Jan-13 23:19:24

Oh I love peanut butter and can't keep it in the house. Skippy's is the best. Yes, it's delicious on hot buttered toast.

I am going to attempt a cleanse tomorrow. Wholesome, clean foods. So the Peanut butter cups had to go < via my mouth >

I am going to do a weigh in in the morning and take it from there I think and then commit to losing some weight. I am about 9 stone 6 I think after christmas, so that probably means I am in for a horrible shock as I am guesstimating that. Don't think I'm too far out though.

hevak Thu 10-Jan-13 23:20:10

Lots of cross posts! I don't find peanut butter moreish but there's a good reason I don't buy nutella - the whole jar would go in one day!

shine0ncrazydiamond Thu 10-Jan-13 23:20:46

Snice - I ate 6 of them.

6 cups, not 6 packets. They had to go after taunting me from the kitchen with their peanutty voices.... so they've now gone.

And I can look forward to pink lady apples, walnuts, salad and avocados tomorrow < groans >

shine0ncrazydiamond Thu 10-Jan-13 23:21:33

Hevak - I hate Nutella as it tastes synthetic to me. Although if push came to shove I could certainly ram a fair bit. Chocolate innit?

juneybean Thu 10-Jan-13 23:21:51

Ohh I thought peanut butter was "healthy" /deluded ... although thinking about it, you'd think butter would be an indicator doh!

Fern123 Thu 10-Jan-13 23:23:02

Hello chieftains!
Had a good day yesterday after Tuesdays shameful afternoon beige, and today wasn't too bad until I had a soda farl- it's not my fault tho, I'm from Norn Iron, it's practically mandatory!!
Completed MFP for the day then ran off to bed early couldn't be tempted to start mindlessly grazing.
And yes to whoever it was up thread who is also deaf without their glasses, me too! And they must weigh at least a stone!
Loving the thread title - and the thread!

shine0ncrazydiamond Thu 10-Jan-13 23:23:29

Nah, it isn't healthy. Well, it may be if you have a tablespoon of the stuff once a week or so... but in the quantities that most normal folk would like to eat it in, it's a no no. Full of fat.

snice Thu 10-Jan-13 23:24:18

i am going to try harder tomorrow - I may even unwrap the shred DVD that I bought 18 mths ago

amimagic Thu 10-Jan-13 23:24:33

Hello new chaffers thread! Has anyone done that hypno thingy where you eat chocolate or other lovely foodstuffs but imagine you're eating like, poo , or ear wax or suchlike to put you off it for ever?

I think if it works that it's the only hope for me to stop with the bastard crunchie devil food

PoohBearsHole Thu 10-Jan-13 23:25:28

Cookery books. My very own porn. Especially cake ones sad
Peanut butter on apple pieces <drool> Even celery grin
I am hoping I can go cold turkey, I hate turkey!

juneybean Thu 10-Jan-13 23:25:41

Is tahini and it's ilk in the same category?

PoohBearsHole Thu 10-Jan-13 23:30:37

I did download some hypnosis diet app bu nt old it much hope!

hevak Thu 10-Jan-13 23:30:38

Oh Pooh does that mean I'm not the only saddo who reads cake recipe books for fun grin

I have had a VERY BAD DAY.

But its a new moon tomorrow, which according to woo is a very good time to make fresh and purged start, rising like phoenix from lard lake.

MFP is woefully inaccurate. Cant bear to fill it in. wine [wishes for crips emoticon]

theowlworrier Fri 11-Jan-13 00:45:23

Fuck! I get distracted by work for a few hours and everyone buggers off. I was going cray-cray looking for you all. Anyway. I still have a manky cold AND had a flu shot so feel like ass. On the bright side, am really not hungry. Bought a baby carrier today so going to do a couple of nice long walks with dd at the weekend. Assuming she can resist the temptation to claw at my eyes/ face.
DH working nights over the wkend too, sono temptation to get a takeaway/ tub of ice cream etc... hoping for a slightly better loss next week...

saintmerryweather Fri 11-Jan-13 07:03:28

Ive had no biscuits or anything this week and have only lost 3/4 of a lb. have got to do the shred more than once a week, i know itll make a difference to.how my body looks!

DoubleMum Fri 11-Jan-13 07:05:16

I need to stop weighing myself as I now find myself rather disappointed that I weigh the same as yesterday.
I too am a saddo recipe reader. I have 200+ cookery books and have read them all. That still doesn't mean I can think of something low cal yet completely delicious to feed my PILs at the weekend. Especially since they aren't fans of vegetables.

GetOrf Fri 11-Jan-13 07:06:52

Exactly the same weight on the scales. Pah. PAH.

I also had a vivid dream about swiss meringue last night. I don't even know what swiss meringue is. I presume it is because I watched Great British Bake oFf last week. But why then didn't I dream about Paul Hollywood's willy then? Damn you subconscious brain.

PoohBearsHole Fri 11-Jan-13 07:20:32

A whole week and 1dayof abstinence and I have lost the grand total of 3oz. There has to be a giant poo waiting to come out, really there must besmile

Pinot Fri 11-Jan-13 07:26:43

4lb down grin It's just water, innit? But still!

Off to lust at Eddie Redmayne ce soir in Les Mis tonight. Must wear waterproof mascara.

GetOrf Fri 11-Jan-13 07:33:00

4lbs is great pinot. Doesn't matter if its water, it's a real kick start.

I might go to see Les mis. But - I am not a fan of musicals. I remember when I went to see Mamma Mia and I laughed when they started singing as it all looked a bit daft.

MaureenShit Fri 11-Jan-13 07:36:50

YOULOT CHEATING WTF ARE YOU DOING
get off the thread if you cheat

why are you eating crap?

GeekLove Fri 11-Jan-13 07:41:27

Right. I feel I have a head start in that I don't even like biscuits or cakes but the festive weight gain was a wake up! If I put on more weight people will start looking at my middle with suspicion again!
As for me
My thighs are 22 in but thats when they are relatively slim and toned! The flab seems to have snuck onto the waist instead.

laurenamium Fri 11-Jan-13 07:43:09

Morning all!

Just weighing in before work! I've lost 3 pounds this week. It's probably mostly water weight but its got me started grin

I have another 2 pounds to go before I can start logging losses on MFP!

Tabbykat Fri 11-Jan-13 07:45:10

Morning Chiefs! Too busy to shred for two days now - must get cracking on with it again as when I did it before I really noticed a difference. However, have hospital scan later so can only have hot water and lemon for breakfast so feeling quite virtuous....must NOT reward self with chocolate later!

GetOrf Fri 11-Jan-13 07:55:14

Don't reward yourself with chocolate. Think of it as a load of old bollocks which is just going to scupper your diet. A mars bar is something daft like 400 cals. That's an hour workout to burn off. It's not WURF it.

(Says me, cheese-on-toast-face)

DoubleMum Fri 11-Jan-13 07:56:58

Well done Pinot that's a fantastic loss

DoubleMum Fri 11-Jan-13 07:58:32

and well done Lauren! Between you both that's half a stone! (Is it? Get a bit confused how many lbs a stone is!)

laurenamium Fri 11-Jan-13 08:00:43

Argh I think I've just pressed the hide button on this thread sad how do I unhide a thread?

DeafLeopard Fri 11-Jan-13 08:11:08

<<Has half a stone envy>>

My weight has gone fucking up!!! Am pre-menstrual, so holding on to water and all grrrrrrrrr and aaarrrghhh today. God help DH

WiseKneeHair Fri 11-Jan-13 08:19:41

Well done Pinot and Lauren.
Pinot - when are you going to re weigh your boobs? I'm sure your DH will be keen. grin

Pinot Fri 11-Jan-13 08:45:44

heh grin

losing weight is hard. being overweight is hard. choose your hard.

^^ shineys quote

nilbyname Fri 11-Jan-13 08:49:40

I am only going to weigh in on a wednesday at Boots. This is making me feel anxious already.

Today is Friday, we usually have steaks, chips stilton stuffed mushrooms and ceaser salad. That must be a billion calories.... What if I make sweet pot chips, no cheese just grilled mushrooms and a salad with a lemon dressing, and a smaller steak. Is that OK? AM I fooling myself.

I am a 36C, I used to be a 34B...getorf I rather preferred my smaller ones, but am not enjoying my back fat and double tit.

DottyDot Fri 11-Jan-13 08:52:34

Morning Chiefs! New day new start and all that...

WiseKneeHair Fri 11-Jan-13 08:52:52

Have the steak and salad, no dressing. That's quite a healthy combination and the protein in the steak should keep you quite full.

WiseKneeHair Fri 11-Jan-13 08:54:56

And fuck off, whoever started the thigh measuring. I've had to go and do mine --> easily led.
This week has been traumatic enough, without knowing my thighs are the size of tree trunks.

GeekLove Fri 11-Jan-13 09:05:01

There's nowt wrong with tree trunk thighs when that are strong and lean but it sucks when they chafe. Sumo squats and lunges are your friends here.
Also don't be afraid of the big weights. It annoys me nO end when women moan about getting too muscular. You are not going to get muscles like Chyna unless you work out and diet like Chyna.
Also to you pears out there it is easier to bulk up your upper body rather than shrink your bottom with training.

WiseKneeHair Fri 11-Jan-13 09:07:28

Thanks Geek. I'm sure all those shred squats, etc will help.
I'm aiming for no thigh chafe by April when we go on holiday.

sassytheFIRST Fri 11-Jan-13 09:14:07

The thigh measuring thing - I'm assuming we mean each thigh, not tape round both.

Each thigh - 21 inches
Both - 34 inches

Legs aren't the problem here - its hip slugs aka muffin top and tittage.

laurenamium Fri 11-Jan-13 09:16:32

Just dug out my measurements list- I measure at the beginning of every month, and I have 20 inch thighs. But in may last year they were 24.5 inches! I would recommend writing monthly inches, it's interesting to see where the weight comes off! Since may I lost 8 inches off my waist and 4 inches off each thigh but only half an inch off my arms!

Lizzylou Fri 11-Jan-13 09:24:20

Well done to the losers.

Maureen is rather fierce, eh?

I would far prefer smaller bust and be lean and lithe. I look matronly a la Gladys Emmanuel at present.

Pinot Fri 11-Jan-13 09:31:18

We need the fierce.

WiseKneeHair Fri 11-Jan-13 09:36:05

lauren I think I'm a " before" version of you. Definitely would love to lose all those inches off my waist and thighs.

I've been kicking ass on the January shred thread this morning got a bit worked up so if you want fierce, I am happy to kick some ass here grin

BupcakesAndCunting Fri 11-Jan-13 09:38:51

Morning chiefs!

"Oh and boob wise am a 34GG.

DH calls me Gina G"

LOL! I am FF and DH calls me F....f...ucking big tits. <waits for clibi or whatever her face is to come and bollock her for mocking stutters>

WELL DONE Lauren and Pinot. That is ACE! I have lost about 4lbs (hard to tell an accurate amount on my medieval scales)

I'm sure I will pile it all back on tomorrow though sad

juneybean Fri 11-Jan-13 09:42:43

Ahh stop measuring your thighs I'm like 30"

laurenamium Fri 11-Jan-13 09:45:36

Well done bupcakes 4 pounds is fantastic!

BupcakesAndCunting Fri 11-Jan-13 09:46:34

Thank you Lauren. Although, I am popping out to get some digital scales on my lunch break and will probably be broken-hearted to find I have put 4 lbs ON. grin

DoubleMum Fri 11-Jan-13 09:47:29

I've had the same bras for so long I don't even know what my cup size is any more. Supersize anyway.
4 lbs is ace Bupcakes

DoubleMum Fri 11-Jan-13 09:48:12

I put a new battery in my digital scales and suddenly I weighed more, so don't do that.

hugoagogo Fri 11-Jan-13 10:09:07

I have lost an inch from my waist smile

I'm sure I used to have some scales, but i must have hid them. Anyway tape measure will do for now.

So 4 days = 1 inch that means, erm 32 days to lose 8 inches yeah? <kids self>

BupcakesAndCunting Fri 11-Jan-13 10:12:42

Well done Hugo! An inch is great.

Incidentally, alady at my work lost a massive amount of weight and she wears she didn't eight herself once, just went by how she felt in her clothes. Seriously, she lost about 6 stone and she's kept it off!

PoohBearsHole Fri 11-Jan-13 10:27:36

Kick out the pots, huge salad actually like this one here obvs without the burgers but that salad is fan tactic along with a good old crunchy green salad and beet root smile

PoohBearsHole Fri 11-Jan-13 10:28:43

I should so post when's this rather than two hours later!

GetOrf Fri 11-Jan-13 10:39:58

I remember last year measuring my waist with dd's shatterproof ruler (no tape measure in the house).

Didn't work very well.

Then XP looked at me as if I was a complete moron and said why didn't I use a piece of string to measure my waist, then measure the bit of string on the ruler.

I just huffed and puffed and said 'YOU find a ball of string in this house then dumbass'

I ended up doing it with a dressing gown cord. That didn't work much either.

Pinot Fri 11-Jan-13 11:00:59

Had a glass of Alpro vanilla flavour soya milk. 50 cals or something like that -= tasted like one of those Vanilla Frijj milkshakes. SCORE.

Gerroff, XP's are always twats. Hence the X.

Virtual gastric band arrived today. Going to read it tonight and listen to CD.

After yesterdays trauma am getting back on it today. I wavered this morning and it was only this thread that made me think I need to continue.

So NO I WON'T GET OFF THE THREAD FFS. <cries>

I never knew there was 200 cals in a banana. What a waste of calories!

DoubleMum Fri 11-Jan-13 11:47:20

MFP is telling me there's 105 cals in my banana Stairs, have you got special fat bananas? (And yes stay here!)

I logged it as 'medium banana' and it said 200. I tried 2 different ones on MFP, same result. I want the 105 cal version!

Top Tip: Do not press tongue to roof of mouth and look in mirror, unless you want to see how you would look as Jabba the Hutt.

shine0ncrazydiamond Fri 11-Jan-13 11:57:55

Morning < just >

Been busy this morning so just eaten for the first time today.

Bowl of chopped pink lady apple, half an avocado, salad leaves, grated carrot, quorn slices, cottage cheese and cucumber, drizzled with blood orange balsamic vinegar. So I'm stuffed now. Not sure of calories but somewhere in the region of 500 I should think.

namechanger11111 Fri 11-Jan-13 12:15:55

I had a sneaky weigh this morning and I've lost 3lbs since Tuesday! I will wait until Tuesday to weigh again before I log it just incase I imagined it or something.

I have discovered the delights of Special K Cracker crisps, they are very yummy and only 92 cals for 21. Crisps are my main weakness so while these are a great replacement, I bought 4 boxes and they're calling me. If they weren't in the house I wouldn't be wanting them.

Pinot Fri 11-Jan-13 12:35:31

I get the "kids bananas" from lidl - they're small (under 6" long) so come in as less cals. But you still feel like you've had a snack.

Gluten free rolls/pasta are less calories than normal versions. Just had cauli soup & roll - 188 & 165 cals.

DoubleMum Fri 11-Jan-13 12:40:31

Well done one 3 lbs namechanger
I also just had cauli soup and a roll Pinot but my roll was considerably more. There's one left and I'm throwing it away now.

Gosh some of you are making great progress. Well done.

<weeps> my right thigh is over 2 foot! And my left thigh is an inch bigger. My waist is 33inches. I'm a pear-shaped freak. Could it be I'm using a B&Q DIY tape measurer? Or is it because I play hockey? I wonder if my dressing gown cord will be better.

Low carbing as well as exercise for me. Like Have just eaten scrambled egg (x2) and almonds.

I've been to the gym to cross train for 7km. From now on I'm only allowed on the bus with the toddler and no sneaky taxis.

I think I might have to add some friends on MFP so I feel someone is watching me!

I was happy not knowing my thighs officially thunderous as opposed to just thinking they were.

ScarfHatSunglasses Fri 11-Jan-13 13:16:06

Double-lol at F...Fucking big tits

I like to be shouted at <needy>. A couple of times it's kept me in line thinking "what's the point of cheating at this?" and the shame of MFP showing my gluttony. I did have a breakfast thing at ikea this morning though, but I left the sausage and hash brown and shared the rest with dd anyway.

Choosing my hard!

<sounds distinctly saucy>

WiseKneeHair Fri 11-Jan-13 13:20:35

Signing in whilst eating my mixed salad and ryrita/ Philly lunch.
stairs my bananas on MFP are only 100 cals grin. I don't think I'm deluding myself, I think that probably is reasonable for a medium banana.

WiseKneeHair Fri 11-Jan-13 13:22:51

Do you think I can get my tits down from G, Ginormous tits to DD, Doubly Delightful?

Ryvita/Philly sounds v nice. I like the sweet chilli philly <poet>

I might measure my thighs later- but what if they are bigger than my head in diameter? That would be weird.

WiseKneeHair Fri 11-Jan-13 13:27:14

Don't measure your head then you'll never know. denial is sometimes ok

DoubleMum Fri 11-Jan-13 13:29:21

I am absolutely not measuring my thighs in case I discover a new land mass.

GetOrf Fri 11-Jan-13 13:43:08

Ryvita + vegemite + extra lighht Philadelphia is really lovely.

superbaghag Fri 11-Jan-13 14:08:46

Signing in.

Lunch went well. I wasn't even hungry today and counting down the minutes until it was time to eat.

I am also not measuring my thighs until i start exercising. I have a cross trainer and i have been known to shred but I tend to find I stop 'losing' weight as the fat becomes muscle which weighs more and I find that disheartening. So I aim to lose half a stone then hit the exercise and will use the measurements then to prove i am getting smaller even when the scales otherwise!

keep going ladies. We are doing it!

Fern123 Fri 11-Jan-13 14:10:34

God some of you are getting on so well - well done!
I'm not weighing in again until Mon, starting to feel nervy already but hopefully that will stop me over eating at the weekend!

I have 613 cals left for dinner tonight, anyone have any ideas of what I could eat?

CarriedAwayAnnie Fri 11-Jan-13 14:18:33

I've just eaten a wholemeal pitta with turkey salad and I am so full.

There is no way I can be this full and lose weight.

Pinot Fri 11-Jan-13 14:37:16

Which bit of your thighs are you measuring? Right up near your bits? Or mid point?

juneybean Fri 11-Jan-13 14:46:39

I went for the fattest bit.

spamm Fri 11-Jan-13 14:55:40

Morning - well, t'is only 10am here.

Ok - so i weighed myself and have lost 1.5 lbs - so am back to just under per- Christmas weight. Only 50-60 lbs to go - hahahaha.

Anyway, that makes me feel better. Yesterday was ok, but I got home from taking ds to scouts and dh decided to be helpful, and made dinner for the first time in aaaaggggeeess. He is great at loads of things, but not cooking. So we had pasta arrabiata and garlic bread. Not exactly a great meal hohummm, but I was careful and only went over my calories by a little.

Tonight could be a disaster, so I need to be careful. We are going to a friend's surprise birthday dinner at a Brazilian steak house - so meat sweats for sure. Atkins - anybody?

I ahve made sure I start well - no fat yoghurt. blueberries and cashews for breakfast and I am still stuffed, so there is an alternative to porridge! These are the types of changes I need to figure out!

Well done to all the chiefs for persevering! It is much more fun to do it with your support!

WiseKneeHair Fri 11-Jan-13 14:58:31

I went for the fattest bit, too. Maybe that's where I'm going wrong.
Fern I have just made dinner for tonight. I was a bit worried because I don't see this as a healthy or diet meal. I have made potato and mushroom curry (also has aubergine in it). I accurately did the calories as I went along and it is only 309 cals, plus another 176 for 50 g rice. It is very yummy. It's on the bbcgoodfood website. The only thing I do differently is use fry light instead of a tablespoon of oil. I'll freeze half and then that's an easy meal for next week as well.

Trouble is, the smell is making me hungry now grin

sassytheFIRST Fri 11-Jan-13 15:43:41

Wanting to reduce my tits fromJesus, Jinormous! To simply Hhow big?shock

DoubleMum Fri 11-Jan-13 15:48:49

LOL Sassy. Mine might be Jjinormous tits too. How anyone can pay thousands to have them increased to this size I have no idea.
Back from school, children are instantly ravenous and I have the munchies but am trying to be in CONTROL.

hevak Fri 11-Jan-13 16:04:02

Well, I fell off the wagon a bit and skipped breakfast (wasn't hungry, so forgot) and then had McDonalds for lunch. <slaps self> I already have soup in the fridge at work (currently pretending to work) so I know I'll have a healthy dinner. Pretty carb heavy though, as it's leek, potato and cheddar soup.

I've done Ripped in 30 today so I don't feel too bad. And the builders have promised hmm to finish the kitchen today so I will get the painting done tomorrow and clean everything and I should be able to get all the kitchen stuff out of the spare room and into the kitchen. Then I'll have no excuse not to have healthy homemade food! I've felt a bit like I've had one hand tied behind my back trying to eat healthily with only a microwave to cook with!

I'm definitely going to have to meal plan for nutritional purposes - I know I don't get enough calcium/iron etc. I'm finding MFP a bit annoying with the layout to check the vitamins bit, as I can't see how to access that bit on the website, just on my phone? I think I'm going to find it a real challenge to meet the carb/protein/fat ratio and get all the daily requirements of calcium etc - I find that much more difficult than just counting calories not that I've calculated I could keep within calorie limits and eat at McDonalds every day, oh no

hevak Fri 11-Jan-13 16:05:19

Oh, and I've made my food diary open on MFP - I didn't realise it wasn't before. Of course, only I would realise this on the day I've fallen off the wagon.

That curry sounds lovely, off to look for it.

I just had to make peanut butter sandwiches. I didnot make myself one. Le sigh.

I have a ginormous double chin. Tits are standard size though.

CarriedAwayAnnie Fri 11-Jan-13 16:37:57

I just realised that I havent done The Shred today. I didnt have time this morning.

So when the kids go to bed instead of crashing with a glass of low fat wine as planned,, I will be jumping round like a loon.

That is so very very depressing.

DoubleMum Fri 11-Jan-13 16:55:10

I didn't know you could get low fat wine. I have given up for January anyway but mentally storing it for Feb!
I have made fairy cakes for the children, so I need to choose (the possibility of) being thin rather than eating one. As soon as the first lot have been scoffed (not by me) I am freezing for packed lunches so the danger zone is only for a short period.

gobbymare Fri 11-Jan-13 16:56:46

Well done to everyone with the weight losses!!

I am trying the sweet potatoe wedges for tea with roasted veg & chicken in a bad, smells delishious.

I am not finding it hard to stick to at the moment which is good for me, so far !

Definatly not measuring my thunder thighs as i dont think we own 2 tape measures.

As for boobage i`d say my back tits are bigger than my front, never a good luck [Embarrassed]

RandallPinkFloyd Fri 11-Jan-13 17:43:32

Well done to all the losers!

(Fuck off am I measuring my thighs, I still haven't recovered from weighing myself)

Sadly the only two areas of my body which aren't fat are my arse and tits. What kind of bollocks is that?

I've always had a boney arse but now my previously magnificent tits have been reduced to chest flaps sad

I'm just one homogenous mass <<wails>>

MaureenShit Fri 11-Jan-13 17:59:27

I had two mini flapjacks. Still under cals but what a waste. 160

MaureenShit Fri 11-Jan-13 18:00:36

Sassy I'm the same. Have teeny legs. Just Tum

aJumpedUpPantryBoy Fri 11-Jan-13 18:12:27

My excess weight goes straight onto the middle of my body - stomach, but from under the boobs rather than above the waist and I get a fat back.

My, I sound attractive, DH is a lucky man!

GetOrf Fri 11-Jan-13 18:12:33

I have a really small upper body, and bigger legs. I hate my legs.

I have just eaten one of thoe Eat Natural bars (my lunch) - imagine its load of cals but they had run out of all food apart from crisps on the train so was lesser of two evils.

CarriedAwayAnnie Fri 11-Jan-13 18:22:08

I'm not doing shred. h has just turned up to do the dc bedtime so its either do it with him here - no chance- or wait till he goes.

I cannot wait for a glass of wine that long and boy do I need wine when hes here so the shred is out of the window today.

Also, I feel really fat today. Fatter than normal. I forgot to weigh this morning so not sure if I have put on but I can't see how. Yesterday I was 2lb down from when I first weighed on Monday.

Today I have eaten loads but MPF says I'm under on calories.

I don't know. I'm all confused.

gobbymare Fri 11-Jan-13 18:22:13

Exactly the same problem as you ajumpeduppantryboy back tits and round middle [cries].

On a plus note tho, least we are addressing it !

MaureenShit Fri 11-Jan-13 18:23:47

I'm sure I have breast tissue where it shouldn't be. Under arms for eg.

Does anyone apart from freaky me have a little potential roll of fat under their bra ? I hate that. I wondered if that's actually breast tissue. Have to be v thin for it to go.

PinkyCheesy Fri 11-Jan-13 18:25:17

Brilliant day until 4.30, had a long walk, steak and garlic bread for lunch, and a hot bath.

Then I picked up the kids.

DS2 whinging as soon as he was in the door. DS1 lost his footie socks. Both had excessively muddy boots. We are having new fridge freezer delivered tomorrow (I hope. It's from Currys) so I had to empty old one, defrost, unplumb, clear magnets off, etc.

Put kids tea on. All fine til I try to microwave veg. Microwave door no longer opens! It did yesterday. So I threw my toys out, served them pork chops and potatoes only (they were thrilled!!) and poured a double vodka and tonic. Please don't flame me hmm

And it's DS1's birthday tomorrow. He is only having a friend round to tea so I hope the oven doesn't blow up before I cook the pizza...

Oh and DH is away, as he always is when there is any domestic problem. It's like the house saves up its issues (flooding, kitchen ceiling collapsing, skylight window falling in, birds in the house, etc) til it's just me here. I can cope, but it's a PITA when I have to juggle it with the kids and everything else.

Ok rant over. I am not going to raid the Pringles grin Hope you're all having a better evening and fabulous food

DoubleMum Fri 11-Jan-13 18:35:07

DCs have had pizza, their specially requested tea and boy do I want their leftovers! But I'm not having any which makes me feel good and awful at the same time LOL. Well done for not raiding the pringles Pinky. All these little victories will add up to new healthier habits eventually.

PinkyCheesy Fri 11-Jan-13 18:39:06

It is interesting that my double VAT is only 200cals, the same as a very big banana... I know which I'd rather have...

hugoagogo Fri 11-Jan-13 18:45:36

Argggh I am hungry, I don't like it. <pouts>

I want wine and tangfastics and it's only me stopping me not a good idea.

What would it really matter?

CarriedAwayAnnie Fri 11-Jan-13 18:46:33

That does really depend if you're considering the banana for breakfast ..

WiseKneeHair Fri 11-Jan-13 19:06:56

Keep strong everyone.
I think Friday evenings are difficult because the DC are tired and fractious, we are tired and fractious, it's the weekend and we feel like we deserve a treat.

We can have a treat, but don't make the one glass of wine turn into a whole bottle or one biscuit into the whole packet.

End of pep talk. I'm relying on you lot keeping me going when I'm flagging. grin

TheCrackFox Fri 11-Jan-13 19:16:18

The boys are eating White chocolate Magnums and there are 2 left in the freezer (thank you DH for your oh so supportive supermarket shop). I can now completely relate to Renton in Trainspotting when he goes cold turkey, infact this is harder.

My new mantra "choose your hard". I am well hard.

gobbymare Fri 11-Jan-13 19:19:52

I am feeling really tired, possibly the lack of sugar maybe, as it has come o quitr sudden, day 5 and i could do with sleeping all weekend or at least feel like it, even tho i`ve not done alot today, anyone else feeling tired ?

DoubleMum Fri 11-Jan-13 19:23:04

Phew Friday is bad! I have bagged up fairy cakes and put in the freezer, and packed up leftover pizza and put it in the fridge for DC's lunch tomorrow (their request). Temptation averted (for now).
Be Hard!

CarriedAwayAnnie Fri 11-Jan-13 19:23:10

Shattered.

And for the first time this week, I could quite happily raid the cupboards sad

This is a low point.

Off to the bath with a book .. wheres there is no food or temptation.

CarriedAwayAnnie Fri 11-Jan-13 19:23:57

Doublemum you are an inspiration!

Well done!!!

DoubleMum Fri 11-Jan-13 19:28:14

Not sure I've ever been an inspiration before, LOL! But I have been hovering so close to grabbing bad things all day, just one of those days I think.
I used to love reading a book in the bath. It isn't quite the same in the shower.

WiseKneeHair Fri 11-Jan-13 19:51:01

[ grin] I now have visions of you DoubleMum with a soggy book trying to read in the shower.
I think it's difficult with kids as you can't just chuck all the crap. At least, if I tried that in this house, there would be a riot.

hugoagogo Fri 11-Jan-13 20:11:12

Freezing baked goods is a great idea; I made muffins the other day, but I only ate one and now the ones the dc and dh didn't snaffle are in little bags in the freezer for packed lunches.

I love baking, it's hard to do it though and not eat any. Thankfully I hate coconut and almonds and them lot <points> love the disgusting stuff, so I make raspberry almond buns or Bounty cake. and cry in the corner with a pear!

Anyway I feel better now I have had a bath and a nice cup of tea.

I too am hard.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy Fri 11-Jan-13 20:11:54

Portion control is definately my downfall.
Tonight I wanted 30g of cheese - DH estimated, them we weighed it and it was 90g.
Using MFP certainly makes me more aware of the vast quantities I eat.

Mnd you, I should have known, we have been known to buy an M&S dine in for two and buy extra side dishes - and I wonder why I am overweight...

GetOrf Fri 11-Jan-13 20:12:54

Well I am under the calories for today on MFP but I am eating crap. Busy so go all day with no food and eat everything within an hour or two. Apricot and almond yoghurt bar, packet of crisps, biscuits, chips and curry sauce from the takeaway (999 cals). Not exactly picture of health.

OH WELL.

TheCrackFox Fri 11-Jan-13 20:29:21

I am now watching Fat Families to keep me on the straight and narrow.
The wanker presenter has just made the fatties throw their entire weekly food intake in the bath (lord knows why) and my mouth literally started watering when they had to throw a chicken jalfrazee in.

Anyway, I am 40 in June and I do not want my arse to look like two massive cauliflowers like it currently does.

DoubleMum Fri 11-Jan-13 20:29:42

Raspberry almond buns sound lush! I used to run my own catering business so baking feels a bit like work still but I'm getting back to liking it slowly. I still have lots of ingredients to use up as well, but as long as I don't eat them (often) it doesn't matter.
And yes portion control is really hard for me too.
Getorf at least you're still under on calories. Tomorrow is another day.

DoubleMum Fri 11-Jan-13 20:30:58

TheCrackFox what a vision I now have in my head!! LOL <will never look at cauliflower cheese in the same way again>

Helloooo! What's with all the thigh measuring? No way I'm goin' there sistah!

Relatively good day for me, even returned a bag of crisps to the cupboard and swapped them for a low fat rice pot. Am having a sneaky vodka or two, after a week of abstinence - top tip for spirit drinkers, put ice and mixer in first and pour alcohol on top. The flavour stays in the ice all the way to the bottom, so you keep the taste.

TheCrackFox Fri 11-Jan-13 20:41:35

I'm not drinking this month but when I resume drinking I will keep it for the weekend and stick to a couple of vodka and slim line so thanks for your top tip SupermanEats.

RandallPinkFloyd Fri 11-Jan-13 21:01:06

Just a quick word of earning regarding MFP, a lot of the entries are incomplete. I'm sure everyone is checking them anyway but thought I say just in case.

The pasta sauce I had today, for example, scanned as a completely different make and when I looked at the nutritional breakdown all they'd entered was the total calories, nothing else at all. Nice try!

I'd initially entered a normal sized portion and was properly chuffed. When I entered the details correctly I hastily changed my mind. I ended up with 2 sodding tablespoons of it and still went over on fat sad

CarriedAwayAnnie Fri 11-Jan-13 21:03:20

I can't find the scanner on the app. Is it not available on the android version?

Lizzylou Fri 11-Jan-13 21:14:09

Have achieved Nirvana and matched calories/consumed calories.
Actually I did spend longer on Just Dance so poss could be bit wrong.

I am v hourglass. Though waist has widened. Used to have small waist, big hips, big top of thighs, legs slim from mid thigh down. Now a bit more blurry round the edges.

PoohBearsHole Fri 11-Jan-13 21:22:05

I have messed up today.

Dh stayed at home and tooke me for lunch.

Got pissed off by a family member so opened the vion

cant even think about how over I am on calories sad

DoubleMum Fri 11-Jan-13 21:30:09

Don't worry PoohBear, start afresh tomorrow.

RandallPinkFloyd Fri 11-Jan-13 21:38:54

I used to have an android phone don't think it did have the scanner, or if it did I didn't find it!

It's only the same info you get by searching though and tbh I think the scanner on my shiny new iPad is pissed. It's like some sort of crystal maze challenge getting it to point in the right direction!

RandallPinkFloyd Fri 11-Jan-13 21:47:02

Yeah, don't beat yourself up pooh. It's only one day.

Have a manly punch to your chubby arm and get back on it tomorrow x

CarriedAwayAnnie Fri 11-Jan-13 21:49:53

It's gonna happen to all us at some point poohbear - try not to dwell on it.

Back on it tomorrow <<hugs>>

Thanks Randall, at least I can stop looking for it now!

juneybean Fri 11-Jan-13 21:55:49

CarriedAwayAnnie the scanner for android - when you go to add the food there's a barcode image next to the "search for food" click that and it'll turn the camera on

Notfootball Fri 11-Jan-13 22:14:05

Jeez I can't stop snacking on sweet shit. The last 3 days I've been under my calories but the snacks I'm eating are bad news. Cakes-a-freaking-go-go.

CarriedAwayAnnie Fri 11-Jan-13 22:35:35

juneybean - Thank you thanks

RavenVonChaos Fri 11-Jan-13 22:35:43

Can I join in?

Got a massive belly. Trying to calorie count and only eat when hungry. Had to watch DP get pissed tonight while I sipped water.

Anyway I reckon I need some support as getting to day 10 and feeling like I need to rebel...

DeafLeopard Fri 11-Jan-13 22:54:27

Don't rebel Raven - you are only cheating yourself, and you while you may feel good during your rebellion, an hour later you will be kicking yourself for it.

RandallPinkFloyd Fri 11-Jan-13 23:00:57

Ok chiefs, quick question. I haven't been food shopping at all so am just eating what I've already got but smaller portions and no snacks. Exactly the same food I normally eat.

So why the ever loving fuck am I a giant ball of gas and air?

I'm properly bloated and and farting like a trooper. Not horrible smelly ones, proper big loud airy trumpety ones.

This must be stopped, I'm meant to be going out tomorrow!

aJumpedUpPantryBoy Fri 11-Jan-13 23:07:47

Randall - I don't know the answer but the same thing has happened to me. DH thought it was the dog earlier but it was actually me.

PoohBearsHole Fri 11-Jan-13 23:11:06

I feel relatively ok about it, my wine is still the first glass and wasn't huge, my snack was a bath oliver biscuit with quark (suprisingly nice!) and about 5 tangfastics hmm and for lunch I made relatively good choices - dried meats and fish with a sauce and I didn't eat the chips (did eat some yummy bread) and some cheese - still to log it as until I do am kidding myself grin

RandallPinkFloyd Fri 11-Jan-13 23:11:38

Thank Christ for that!

Not that I'm glad your arse is exploding too, but glad I'm not a complete freak!

Maybe it's the space I normally fill with food, now it's just full of air instead.

RandallPinkFloyd Fri 11-Jan-13 23:14:03

I'll bet if you log it pooh it won't be as bad as you think.

Just log it completely honestly and take the hit. We're all in this for the long haul remember, don't starve yourself to make up for it.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy Fri 11-Jan-13 23:14:50

Sounds feasable - he's worked out it isn't the dog - don't think I'll be getting lucky tonight! I was hoping to burn some extra calories...

RandallPinkFloyd Fri 11-Jan-13 23:16:36

Blimey no, bouncing around would not help!

DeafLeopard Fri 11-Jan-13 23:23:32

Could it be that you are drinking more water - you are drinking more water aren't you? <<looks over glasses at Randall and JumpedUp>>

So the water is aiding your digestive system along a bit?

RandallPinkFloyd Fri 11-Jan-13 23:34:04

Tbh the only healthy thing about me is that I always drink loads of water.

I don't drink tea or coffee and am not keen on squash or pop. Water is actually my drink of choice.

I haven't bothered logging it on MFP because its just not something I think about, I easily get through 3-4 pints a day because most days its all I drink.

<<polishes well hydrated halo>>

MaureenShit Sat 12-Jan-13 00:11:33

I love the scanner

karatekimmi Sat 12-Jan-13 08:00:49

Morning all,
Long time fatty delurking after Having read both threads!!

Have lost 2lb this week pre poo, and needed a cup of tea so will save the power of the poo for another week!!

A couple of things I found Helpful, if im having trouble sticking my calories I count them mid day to midday - I find it easier to eat healthier during the day and stick to a low number of cals until lunch, then getting in from work with only 290 cals!! Id think blow it and eat the fridge!!

My nn is the same as on here if anyone wants to add me!!

karatekimmi Sat 12-Jan-13 08:02:56

Oh and I have at least 4 stone to lose, and would be happy to be 13st something on valentines day!! I'm shredding as well, and it's a killer!!

Notfootball Sat 12-Jan-13 09:10:51

Wotcha all! How did you manage to increase your calories from 1200 to 1400?

I'm actually feeling a bit unwell 'inside' and think that my calories are too low for my activity levels.

Notfootball Sat 12-Jan-13 09:12:49

TMI but I've been backed for about a week, did two mahoosive poos last night and am now 1.5 lbs less than yesterday. What the fucking deuce?

WiseKneeHair Sat 12-Jan-13 09:26:38

Notfootball well done on the poo. I think I need one of those.
Changing your calorie goal is done by going to your profile and changing the amount you want to lose per week. I changed from 2lbs to 1lb and my calories went up from 1200 to 1360.
I have a friend who drinks the vinegar from the pickled onion jar when she is feeling a bit bunged up. Apparently, it works a treat. grinShe certainly lost about 4 stone.

GetOrf Sat 12-Jan-13 09:45:08

Urgh at pickled onion vinegar!

I have lost another lb so am 10 stone 4. So, eating a load of bollocks all in one go as long as it is under cal limit is evidently the way to go hmm

I am just off ot the gym, weights, row and swim, and then breakfast after (they do healthy cal counted breakfasts at the gym). But then meeting SIL in a cocktail bar, will stick to martinis, low cal, and not bright pink sweet cocktails.

PoohBearsHole Sat 12-Jan-13 10:12:01

Notfootball, bet you feel better now you have "performed" grin all that backed up in you cant be good!!!!

I did log and it wasn't quite so bad as I thought, although will be healthy today hmm so far had Rachel's coconut yoghurt with blueberries and pineapple (yum) and two pieces of wholemal toast. Off to log but am likely to miss lunch as doing supermarket shop then!

Morning all. I foolishly left DH to make breakfast while I shredded and was presented with fried eggs, bacon and toast. It was delicious but has thrown me out of whack, calorie-wise.
We're going for lunch later so I've already picked way I'm having. Weirdly the moules and frites is less calories than a ribeye steak and broccoli.
Anyway, I'm left with a teeny amount for dinner...

MaureenShit Sat 12-Jan-13 11:11:37

cripes

scales raised me from 106 to 10. 10 overnight

mad panic

kicked scaled - still 10.6.6

MaureenShit Sat 12-Jan-13 11:12:20

btw is 1200 cals a day the lowest MFP offer you when you start?

I set up my account two months ago and then went off it - I cant remember at all.

TheCrackFox Sat 12-Jan-13 11:14:20

Made the boys pancakes for breakfast whilst I made do with a bowl of porridge with a handful of raisins.

Just done 5km on the crosstrainer.

Fuck, I'm miserable but I am choosing my hard.

Lizzylou Sat 12-Jan-13 11:34:00

Good start to weekend, food shop, lots of healthy low cal stuff (cost a bloody fortune) and then gym.

Have a seafood feast for dinner tonight, well me and DS2, DS1 and DH hate anything fishy. Mussels and Sardines, lots of salad.

Feel rather good today, all energised and positive smile

Will prob pass out asleep on sofa this afternoon.

TigerFeet Sat 12-Jan-13 11:41:00

Wow you lot have been talkative, I haven't been on here for a couple of days and you're half way down thread #2.

Porridge with blueberries for me this morning, the dd's said it looked revolting grin

Love the thread title, particularly apt for me as I love taking the piss out of indigenous populations it was thigh chafage last Saturday despite wearing jeans that spurred me into action.

I AM NOT GOING TO MEASURE MY THIGHS. I have a hefty, matronly buzzoom, the thinnest part of me is just under my bust so my chest size isn't too bad (34/36) and I am currently a J cup. I don't look that big chested though as my horrible flabby stomach balloons from my only thinnish bit and my norks kind of rest on top of it blush so I look kind of in proportion until you see my massive arse.

GetOrf Sat 12-Jan-13 12:06:39

Lol at jicking the scales. Bastards.

Maureen am sure 1200 cals is the lowest mfp wil ever give you.

MaureenShit Sat 12-Jan-13 12:08:52

Lol at indigenous.

MaureenShit Sat 12-Jan-13 12:09:37

I've got 1000 cals left for a curry tonight.

I'm
Starving all day for it. (Well maybe some no point veg soup)

laurenamium Sat 12-Jan-13 12:14:51

I've had my "bad meal" for the week. And all the pizzas/ rubbish food is gone out of the freezer now too so only healthy ish food for another week now! I'm going to attempt to still be under calories (using exercise cals) by the end of the day too!

theowlworrier Sat 12-Jan-13 12:19:45

Is mfp down for anyone else?? I wanted to log my virtuous oatmeal breakfast and i keep getting a server down message.

sassytheFIRST Sat 12-Jan-13 12:19:53

Bloody sick of living in the plague house. I've been under par for a month - a Month! - starting with flu, then hangover cough/no energy and now daily squits at 3am. Mr and dd1 are just getting over flu and this morning dd2 says "I'm freezing" whilst being boiling hot to the touch.

And I've eaten Nowt but dust And I haven't drunk since NYD. Yet still no weight loss this week.

Enough to drive one to the muffin tin, it is.

laurenamium Sat 12-Jan-13 12:49:09

What are people logging shred as on MFP? When I was doing it before I was logging it as circuit training but not sure?

DoubleMum Sat 12-Jan-13 12:53:08

theowlworrier MFP home page (but not the other pages) was down for me yesterday but turned my computer on and off and it worked again.
Just had shredded chicken tikka in a pitta with lots of salad and am now stuffed to the eyeballs. Been to Sainsburys to buy food for entertaining tomorrow - won't be the best meal and I'll definitely be over calories but will log it faithfully.
Sassy that does sound tough, hopefully you'll all recover soon and life can get back to normal.

GetOrf Sat 12-Jan-13 13:27:32

Laura I always logged shred as calisthenics.

theowlworrier Sat 12-Jan-13 14:14:09

Ah, not just me, then. Seems to mostly be working now, bar the apps page... which is cack, because I am planning to do a couple of nice long walks with DD today, and I wanted an app to track the precise distance/ pace etc.

bleedingheart Sat 12-Jan-13 15:28:55

Is it too late to join? I was reading the previous thread and intended to log in but it moved on too quickly!
Have been using MFP and have lost a kilo but want to lose another 7, ideally 10.
Chocolate is my weakness and the 2pm-5pm lull where I crave it like no ones business!
I'm doing okay for fats and carbs on MFP but sugar is over every day. I don't add it to anything but I love my daily dairy milk!
I want to get rid of this 'wearing a rubber ring under my clothrs' look so the chocolate must go!

DoubleMum Sat 12-Jan-13 15:40:53

Come on in bleedingheart. If you let us know your name on MFP we can friend you there. Well done for losing your first kilo.

nilbyname Sat 12-Jan-13 15:43:18

Shred could be logged at circuits, as to me that is what it is most like?

I went round the shops with a toddler in tow....lots of walking round in round in circles....wonder if that burned anything? i did buy some new NIKE trainers. woot woot!

RandallPinkFloyd Sat 12-Jan-13 16:34:38

Add it as walking nilly there's and option for slow pace 2 miles per hour. Still burns more than you think.

Well, I've totted up what I imagine will be consumed this evening and it only takes me to 100 over, and as long as I stay in my calories tomorrow and Monday I'll still be 2,000 under for the week. That's not too bad is it? <desperately clutches at straws>

DoubleMum Sat 12-Jan-13 17:02:57

That's really not bad. grin

RandallPinkFloyd Sat 12-Jan-13 17:12:24

Straw gratefully clutched!

I am going to officially join you all. Instead of just hanging onto every word. I downloaded My Fitness Pal at the beginning of the last thread and have been going a week tomorrow.
Add me as a friend same name as on here.

DoubleMum Sat 12-Jan-13 18:04:01

Hi there missnevermind welcome to the mad house. grin

WiseKneeHair Sat 12-Jan-13 18:34:17

Welcome missnevermind.
Struggled today, but chose my hard.
Have had tortillas on the menu from before I started MFP and DS1 would have left home so not all bad if we hadn't had them. I made a massive salad to go with it and was v restrained.
I can have a glass of wine and two chocolates tonight and only be 44 cals over. If I wasn't injured and could have shredded, I would have been under.

BupcakesAndCunting Sat 12-Jan-13 18:41:00

Evening chiefs.

Not a good day for me today but twas expected as I did my cookery school then lunch with much wine.

Had lobster ravioli with foamy stuff, duck with celestial and apricot and Franciscan tart. am stuffed like a ducking Christmas turkey now sad

nilbyname Sat 12-Jan-13 18:46:09

bups that was total food porn!

I will log it thanks randall, it all counts doesn't it.

I remembered a really good tip today, and wise you reminded me aabout it...we should have a big salad or some raw veg as a starter to a big meal to "wake up" out digestive systems and then to fill up on good stuff before the main and probably more calorific event.

DoubleMum Sat 12-Jan-13 18:46:14

Sounds really delicious Bupcakes
Have just done our fried rice, very nice, and am similarly stuffed.

DoubleMum Sat 12-Jan-13 18:48:13

nilby when DH & I did SW years ago (pre-kids) and did well, we are salad or fruit (or a small bowl of veg soup) before our main meal. It definitely helped to have smaller portions.

BupcakesAndCunting Sat 12-Jan-13 18:54:15

ffs CELERIAC AND FRANGIPAN

nilbyname Sat 12-Jan-13 18:55:00

double yes, it is then an actual FACT!

RavenVonChaos Sat 12-Jan-13 18:57:10

Oh dear. Met a friend for lunch and we are both dieting. We ordered vegetarian Greek meze for two. They brought out a delicious platter of halloumi, courgette fritters, etc etc.

Absolutely gorgeous, but enough for SIX people. I kid you not! smile

No dinner for tonight.

DoubleMum Sat 12-Jan-13 19:14:28

Bupcakes I think the celestial and Franciscan sounded nicer...more exotic!

WiseKneeHair Sat 12-Jan-13 19:36:00

Raven but all the veggies are low cal shame about the batter stuff
Glad to help re the salad. I just didn't want a half empty plate.
bups sounds like a very civilised way to spend a Saturday, rather than mine of trying to stop 3 DS's trying to kill each other.

spamm Sat 12-Jan-13 19:48:52

Wow - everybody is doing such a great job - even at the weekend!

The gym was great this morning. I am the ultimate exercise-o-phobic. But I am really enjoying going to the gym - having a Personal Trainer helps, as he is great a showing me what to do properly, so I am not just wasting my time on the weights and things. I figure that the cost is worth every single cent - if it helps me lose weight, get healthy and stay healthier longer! My dh and ds go to Taekwondo, and the gym is my thing.

I even signed up for a spinning class tomorrow evening - it's going to kill me, isn't it? It will be my first time, but it looks like serious exercise.

The first time I had a PT session - I literally could not walk down stairs for 3 days. I had to either walk sideways, or go down on my bottom. My dh just laughed his head off every time I walked down stairs.

RandallPinkFloyd Sat 12-Jan-13 19:50:53

Buppers that sounds fucking amazing envy

I'm hiding out on here as my wonderful friends are all eating Thai noodles!

spamm Sat 12-Jan-13 19:53:50

Bupcakes - that sounds amazing - was the the cookery school menu you worked on? Would you be able to replicate it at home, or was it just too complicated?

aJumpedUpPantryBoy Sat 12-Jan-13 19:55:15

BupCake, that sound lovely.

I made pulled pork today - had never made it before but it was delicious. I could have eaten twice the amount but I managed to show some portion-control-restraint

GetOrf Sat 12-Jan-13 19:58:22

Bups that was an epic couple of typos grin

Sounds lovely as well.

My day went to ratshit really, 4 cocktails, bruschetta and some chicken satays, then home, bag of crisps, bite of cheese, then to gym and 5000 m on the rowing machine pissed and a desultory lift of weights.

Home with a hangover and scouring the house for something to eat, fuck all in without cooking (urgh)

Signing in for the Day. Not had as good a day as yesterday as was out for lunch at I-Ls. But still avoided all carbs until 630 but then fell on a pizza with my mouth open. Only thing keeping me within sight of my 1200 calories today was the run to and from the doctors with DS because his chest infection is getting worse.

My name on MFP is WillStillNeedTeaAndGin. I'd really appreciate some MN Official Monitors for moments of weakness. Thanks.

Chants. I'm in it for the long haul and I've chosen my hard.

DoubleMum Sat 12-Jan-13 20:20:59

Tea have sent you a friend request.
I seem to have chosen my hard too, but am feeling a bit guilty as DH is struggling quite a bit with no alcohol (long story, but we are dry in Jan for him) and needs really nice food to help him along.

DoubleMum Sat 12-Jan-13 20:22:50

jumped did you make the pulled pork in the slow cooker? I've just remembered I've got some in the fridge from a couple of days ago and am now kicking myself for not getting it eaten up today!

laurenamium Sat 12-Jan-13 20:25:37

Welcome missnevermind come on in!

I didn't get round to excercising my calories off so I'm 100 over sad but I don't log cleaning and exercise that I do everyday (shopping etc) so it's not too bad I suppose!

I need to start shredding again because I have been so lazy!

Thanks Double

I wonder whether I can get extra calories for Gin for arfing at the image of pissed rowing on the machine. Now imagining GetOrf in a Henley Regatta type blazer.

saintmerryweather Sat 12-Jan-13 21:51:11

Im always way under my calories but im just eating the amount i want to eat. except today where all ive had is a weetabix, 4 pieces of cake and a curry. but apparently my riding.lesson this morning burnt 300cals ... not sure thats right

aJumpedUpPantryBoy Sat 12-Jan-13 21:54:31

Doublemum - I cooked it in the low oven of an Esse (like an Aga). I stuck in in with some barbecue marinade, a chopped up apple and some ginger syrup and left it for 9 hours. Then I removed the fat, shredded it and mixed in some ketchup, worcestershire sauce and wholegrain mustard.

It was very nice. There was loads left over. Usually I'd pick at it but I've left out enough for tea tomorrow and lunch on Monday and frozen the rest.

PoohBearsHole Sat 12-Jan-13 21:55:11

DoubleMum Sat 12-Jan-13 22:04:41

I love pulled pork in sliders and on top of baked sweet potatoes.
Pooh I have 2 birthdays to come very soon but this is why they are not taking place in my house LOL!

PoohBearsHole Sat 12-Jan-13 22:14:13

It's worse

It was at someone else's house!!!!!!

<wobbles at lack of self control>

DoubleMum Sat 12-Jan-13 22:33:31

Did they have any Little Gems? <always a sucker for Little Gem biscuits>

wanders into thread

I'm starting again tomorrow, all the Christmas chocolates are gone. I'm logging back into MFP now sad

TheCrackFox Sat 12-Jan-13 23:06:17

Can we all stop talking about lovely food (pulled pork, I ask you?). Drool.

juneybean Sun 13-Jan-13 00:21:25

I had lovely food for tea and it was very low calorie... twas fajita mix without the tortilla wrap! Just chicken, peppers, onion, mushroom, packet of spice mix and a squirt of salsa served on couscous.

RandallPinkFloyd Sun 13-Jan-13 02:19:58

I only went 10 callories over, 10!

I logged as I went so I'm already down to 500 cals left for today but I reckon that's doable if I just low carb for a day!

Morning.

I am in the zone

Please add me on MFP, I'm HitlerSpringtime on there.

karatekimmi Sun 13-Jan-13 08:10:06

Well if I didn't need any incentive to lose weight mini karate (7 months) was rooting and instead of finding boob, he latched on the round mass of my fat belly!! NO!! its a good job I help him or he'd die trying to find the right bit after trying all the other flabby fleshy bits!

nilbyname Sun 13-Jan-13 08:20:18

randall I was 6 calories, I think that is totes acceptable on a saturday!

laurenamium Sun 13-Jan-13 08:43:39

From looking at all of the lovely low cal food you have been making I have realised one of my problems is I can't cook. I've never even heard of some of the food you have been talking about and wouldn't know where to start with cooking them! sad I need healthy cookery lessons!

WiseKneeHair Sun 13-Jan-13 08:48:57

randall was your cut off for the day midnight, rather than when you went to bed? grin That's genius. After years of SW where it was drummed into me that a day is from when you wake up until you go to bed, I've never thought of doing that.
Next time I'm in need of extra alcohol and crap, I'll just wait till after midnight.
Off to watch DS1 play football in the freezing cold, unless its called off. please, please, please be called off

WiseKneeHair Sun 13-Jan-13 08:50:16

lauren look at the bbcgoodfood website or app. It's got some good, healthy recipes which are quite straightforward to do.

Lizzylou Sun 13-Jan-13 09:05:53

Lauren, Jamie's 15min meals book or the Hairy Dieters Diet cookbook are worth a look?? And yes, BBC Goodfood website has good healthy section.

Off to Kettlecise now. Hoping it's the v good instructor and not the mad old bird who bounces around randomly to Bon Jovi wearing a bandana.

I hate soft rock.

DoubleMum Sun 13-Jan-13 09:10:21

Lauren I've just got the Hairy Dieters book - there's loads of lovely stuff in it including pies and curries, and obviously good instructions for making them. It's £7 on Amazon and it was £4.99 on Book People if there's a free delivery code floating around.

Notfootball Sun 13-Jan-13 09:13:40

Lizzylou kettlecise sounds good. I planned to shred before breakfast this morning but DH is I'll in bed so I had to come down with the mini footballs to get breakfast going. Hope he's not ill all day <unsympathetic face>

BupcakesAndCunting Sun 13-Jan-13 09:15:48

I also use the Hairy Dieters book a lot. The chicken jalfrezi is phwoar and also the harissa chicken and bulgur wheat salad.

laurenamium Sun 13-Jan-13 09:16:57

Thanks everyone ill download the good food app now and will get the hairy bikers book too! I know the basics cooking wise and can make toad in the hole and things. But I'm terrible and things that don't come from jars so a book should help grin

I'm exactly the same laurenamium, will download that app now.

laurenamium Sun 13-Jan-13 09:49:23

Wow I'm definitely meal planning for next week from the good food website! I've already got this weeks shopping so ill be having another carb week but will try to be under calories every day still!

Might try the leek, potato and bacon bake tonight. It's probably easy but I'm only just starting to earn to cook. blush

*learn

karatekimmi Sun 13-Jan-13 10:51:39

wise a diet tip I used was count from midday to midday, or 5pm til 5pm if you eat most of your calories in the evening, then count them first. You could (well I could) cope during a work day on only 200 - 300 cals in the day if I get all my calorie allowance in the evening!!

Not sure how you'd do it on mfp and Im not saying its a great method but when I did WW it helped me keep within points!

Lizzylou Sun 13-Jan-13 11:11:43

Notfootball, kettlecise is my favourite class, it is quite like the shred in parts.

Have to think what I can have for dinner as dh came home yesterday with one of local butchers lovely pies for him and dc.

Thanks for that!

CarriedAwayAnnie Sun 13-Jan-13 11:21:45

I didn't Shred yesterday so that was two days without blush. It's soo difficult to do with 2dc around. On weekdays dd2 will just potter around me jumping around like a loon but with both dc here it's ner enough impossible.

STBXH took them to the park this morning though and I used my childfree time to excercise shock I think I deserve a medal for that.

Stood on the scales this morning for the first time in 3 days and since Monday (when I started eating better and Shredding) I've lost 4lbs!

I have no idea what to do for dinner. I was going to do the Chicken and white bean stew Pooh linked to earlier in these threads but I forgot to get the haricot beans and cannot face a supermarket with two dc in tow on a busy Sunday so I'm going to have to think again.

Lizzylou Sun 13-Jan-13 11:27:44

Thats fab carried!
We can do this, can't we? Everyone is doing so well.

CarriedAwayAnnie Sun 13-Jan-13 11:28:16

Oh and I made American pancakes for the dc this morning for breakfast and didn't have any shock

CarriedAwayAnnie Sun 13-Jan-13 11:31:49

Thanks Lizzy.

I think you when start seeing a difference in your clothes/shape etc, that's when it really motivates you to carry on. So hopefully it will get easier for all of us soon.

Choose your hard chiefs.

We can do this!!

nilbyname Sun 13-Jan-13 11:43:25

carried you have done really well 4 pounds is great! I am weighing in on Wednesdays so am trying to be good till then. I might shred tonight my ankle feels loads better...and I bought really nifty new trainers.

We are going out for lunch now...am hopeful I can have something fishy and without being too carby. Dh will probably have fish and chips. Bastard.

RandallPinkFloyd Sun 13-Jan-13 12:08:50

Yep, midnight made it Sunday in my world!

My food diary for today is looking worrying though, so far all it contains is cider and a fucktonne of hula hoops!

DoubleMum Sun 13-Jan-13 12:17:16

Ooh carried well done!
So far I am still exactly the same weight as when I started. sad But it's early days.

PoohBearsHole Sun 13-Jan-13 12:29:38

Me too doublemum but am hoping for progress! Roast chicken for lunch with roast potatoes for the dc!

CarriedAwayAnnie Sun 13-Jan-13 12:45:00

I'm guessing my 4lb is all water

CarriedAwayAnnie Sun 13-Jan-13 12:49:24

I'm thinking of getting a fridge magnet and a sticker for the biscuit tin saying 'Choose your hard'.

Do you think that would help?

Either that or a photo of me naked but I think that could scar the dc for life!

Well done carried

I need to buy some scales, I don't actually know what I weigh.

spamm Sun 13-Jan-13 14:06:49

Carried - I like teh fridge magnet idea! I need one of those!

I have been brutally honest with my food diary for yesterday and it was not great. I gained 700 calories via exercise and I wasted much of that, as we went to an impromptu party at our Taekwondo DoJang. Chicken wings, noodles - aggghhhhh. At least I was driving so I could not join in the drinking games....dh slept in the basement and I bet he is not looking very pretty right now! I also did the cleaning after the party, while they continued drinking, and I walked the dog - so that will help a bit.

Anyway, I have a spinning class tonight, so that will likely make me work very hard! I'm off to walk the dog, as dh is probably still passed out on the couch still asleep.

WiseKneeHair Sun 13-Jan-13 14:21:02

Well done carried
karate I meal plan anyway, so have been putting in my dinner earlier to give me an idea how much I have left.

It was fucking freezing watching DS1 play football this morning AND they were selling bacon baps, which I resisted.

Off to polish my halo now.grin

ScarfHatSunglasses Sun 13-Jan-13 14:32:09

Hmm we went to Wagamama for lunch, I tried to choose a dish that looked reasonable - teriyaki chicken donburi. I looked it up on MFP and it's a scary 900 cals!

I left quite a bit of it though and I am the fullest I've been all week grin

Now I know that the hard bit will be not deciding to gorge as I've lost today anyway.

Choosing your hard is bloody hard!

PoohBearsHole Sun 13-Jan-13 14:39:16

At wagamams always go with the beef salad..... No carbs smile

ScarfHatSunglasses Sun 13-Jan-13 14:48:15

Ah thanks Pooh. The urge for sugar now is strong!

MaureenShit Sun 13-Jan-13 15:06:04

i too have spinning tonight * looks around*

GeekLove Sun 13-Jan-13 15:13:01

10st 7 now. Bastard!
I blame the kebab meat on Friday also I had chicken kebab with salad and ditched the pitta.
No Shred until Thursday although I will Zumba after DSs bedtime. Running after the boys and getting the housework done at least is adding to the steps though. 7000 and counting and I've not even done the vacuuming!

MaureenShit Sun 13-Jan-13 15:18:15

What are you aiming for? Me too 10.7.
I don't take any count of housework. That's shit imo

CarriedAwayAnnie Sun 13-Jan-13 15:29:09

If housework, childcare or walking killed calories I would be stick thin by now. #excitinglife

TheCrackFox Sun 13-Jan-13 15:35:15

A fridge magnet with "chose your hard" is an excellent idea.

MaureenShit Sun 13-Jan-13 16:36:18
juneybean Sun 13-Jan-13 17:31:36

I've lost my christmas weight plus a pound so far but am waiting til Monday to update MFP as that's a week since I started with you chiefs!

hugoagogo Sun 13-Jan-13 17:48:54

Oh dear, chinese pork followed by a stroopwafel may have tipped me over the edge today. dh was cooking and I haven't told him I am dieting.

It seems stupid, but if I tell him he will probably start as well and lose a stone in a week whilst still having chocolate. envy

DoubleMum Sun 13-Jan-13 17:50:22

Well done juneybean.
Pretty cheap for a fridge magnet of our own design?
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Personalised-Photo-Custom-Fridge-Magnet-/221166363415?pt=UK_Collectables_Kitchenalia_RL&hash=item337e8ae317

Maureen for some reason your link only opens Google for me.

laurenamium Sun 13-Jan-13 18:27:52

Hello everyone! I knew I was going out for a big lunch today so never had breakfast to save calories for then! I'm still full now too so probably won't have tea so ill be under my calories grin I know it's not the healthiest way but one day won't hurt puts head back in sand

CarriedAwayAnnie Sun 13-Jan-13 18:32:14

DoubleMum Great find! I'm going to order one I think!

I can't open the link either Maureen.

Pooh - Made the chicken and white bean stew today and it was lovely. Thanks for the recipe tip smile

DoubleMum Sun 13-Jan-13 18:47:04

Lauren I've done just the same today. And I refused new york cheesecake which was quite hard!
Carried I think I shall order one too.

RandallPinkFloyd Sun 13-Jan-13 20:17:40

Well, using my iron willpower today I've managed to haul it back from the brink.

Over the two days I'm only over by 7 calories!

Wait, I didn't log the walk back from the pub, I'll be back.

RandallPinkFloyd Sun 13-Jan-13 20:19:40

And I'm under, boo yah grin

DoubleMum Sun 13-Jan-13 20:35:11

Looking at your diary, that really was cast iron willpower, LOL!

RandallPinkFloyd Sun 13-Jan-13 20:44:47

I've never scarfed down a plate of vegetables with so quickly!

'twas lovely though smile

laurenamium Sun 13-Jan-13 20:52:53

Randall your diary made me grin too! You did well to log alcohol on a night out though! I'm out a week on Friday and I think ill struggle to remember logging!

aJumpedUpPantryBoy Sun 13-Jan-13 21:20:01

I've just looked at my MFP weight report for the past year. Depressingly if I lose 10lb more I'll be back to the weight I was this time last year.

Still, at least I'm back on track.

I've also planned evening meals for the next 4 days which means there is no excuse for stuffing myself with rubbish food when get home from work.

saintmerryweather Sun 13-Jan-13 21:26:39

For some reason having only managed to do 1 day of level 1 and 2 of level 2 of the shred (which i am now thoroughly bored with) i decided to have a go at level 3 today. oh my god i thought i.was going to die (so i stuck with anita grin) might go back to level 1 for a bit now but i can hear my knees groaning and creaking. cant stand that noise! The dog is getting a bit porky too so i reckon he can join me on c25k when i finally buy some decent trainers

CarriedAwayAnnie Sun 13-Jan-13 21:43:21

I've got about 400 cals left. I don't understand how.

I'm not hungry but feel I should eat as MFP is telling me off.

I don't know what to have though. It seems daft to eat when I'm not hungry and I don't want it.

RandallPinkFloyd Sun 13-Jan-13 22:03:07

Tbh we just sat around a table in a couple of local pubs, no fancy wine bars or clubbing or anything, so all I did was enter one pint before I left then I just changed the quantity on my phone each time I got back from the bar.

I know it's not exactly 'correct' to have logged it over the two days but it's really helped me to stay on track and not just give it up as a lost day iyswim.

gobbymare Sun 13-Jan-13 22:11:20

I am in the same boat carriedawayannie I'm genuinely not hungry.

PoohBearsHole Sun 13-Jan-13 23:41:00

I told you the chicken and bean stew would be a good filler!!!! grin

I made it and then used it for making soup the following day/ day later. It was fab!

I had popcorn for my evening meal sad what was I thinking?

spamm Sun 13-Jan-13 23:51:14

OMG - I nearly died! But the spinning class was weirdly fun, in a "I managed to not throw up, I am so proud" kind of way. I will definitely go back! If I can ever walk again...

Pooh - is popcorn that bad? it should be a good food, unless it was covered in butter or caramel.

I am making Korean beef for supper, and cooking veg soup to have around and kill temptation over the next few days. Keep it up chiefs, we can do this!

MaureenShit Mon 14-Jan-13 00:12:52

I spin twice a week. Love

MaureenShit Mon 14-Jan-13 00:13:05
laurenamium Mon 14-Jan-13 07:56:37

Morning chiefs! If I can get through this week without gaining weight I will be very happy. It's the week before my period and I always hold water weight and get really bloated angry

GetOrf Mon 14-Jan-13 08:40:59

Spin is great.

I am going to do a gym triathlon tonight - 20 lengths, 5 miles bike, 2.5 miles run.

Have not done it before but dd has.

My weekend went all over the place - no exercise apart from semi-pissed rowing, and eating all day yesterday.

Back in the zone today.

Forgot to weigh myself this morning as had to leave the house stupidly early, so will see what it says tomorrow.

BupcakesAndCunting Mon 14-Jan-13 09:22:46

Morning chiefs.

Well I just want to cry this morning. Just weighed myself and I appear to have re-gained the 4lbs I lost over the last week! WTAF?! I feel so disheartened and ANGRY. I know I did some good eating on saturday but I was only about 400 cals over and I definitely had cals left over from other days to absorb that.

I am pissed off. Also, I am wondering whether my anti-depressants are to blame. I am sure that they are the reason I stacked this weight on in the first place (started taking them last January and have piled 3 stone on in that time) and I am wondering whether they are stopping me from losing the weight?

Pfffffffft. I'm not giving in though.

GeekLove Mon 14-Jan-13 09:28:09

Today is weigh in day - aiming for twice a week as I don't see the point in doing it more often. Hopefully there will be a deficit. I miss Shred but with 2 DCs to love on my own it ain't happening!

DoubleMum Mon 14-Jan-13 09:42:43

Bupcakes at SW they always say to look at your weight over a longer period - say over a month rather than a week.

BupcakesAndCunting Mon 14-Jan-13 09:47:10

This is not right for me, though.

Whenever I've started calorie counting in the past, I've dropped at least 5lbs in a week

sad sad sad

RandallPinkFloyd Mon 14-Jan-13 09:51:10

Oh buppers that's really tough.

How often are you weighing? Have you tried measuring as we'll maybe? My weigh-in day is going to be Wednesdays so might bite the bullet and start measuring from this week.

I don't know anything about anti-depressants but it does sound very coincidental. Your food diaries look really good, you haven't cheated, I can't see what else it could be.

Keep going though, don't let it dishearten you for too long. You can do it chief!

BupcakesAndCunting Mon 14-Jan-13 09:51:31

Should have said in the first week.

First week is always going to be your best loss isn't it? So if I've failed this week, the chances of dropping any next week are not good.

RandallPinkFloyd Mon 14-Jan-13 10:00:40

You haven't failed. You've done everything right. It's just a blip that's all.
We're in this for the long haul remember.

shine0ncrazydiamond Mon 14-Jan-13 10:01:42

Bups - can you post a day or two of what you are eating on here? Also are you writing everything down?

BupcakesAndCunting Mon 14-Jan-13 10:02:03

I know, I know. I'm not put off, just frustrated.

I am seriously thinking about stopping my anti-D's. I've been considering it for a while anyway as I think I'm OK now in terms of anxiety, and I think that this has just made up my mind. Will ring the doctors now...

shine0ncrazydiamond Mon 14-Jan-13 10:02:38

Or have you already and I missed it?

juneybean Mon 14-Jan-13 10:04:34

have you had a poo? /blunt
are you due on? full of water. I bet you haven't really put it on, its your body playing funny buggars but I know how disheartening it is.

I lost lb yesterday which I've regained today and am same weight I was for 2 weeks before Chr
