Anyone want to join me? I'm starting tomorrow. Have had great success on CD before but 2 babies and a hellish 2012 have led to a terrible weight gain.

I know some people disapprove, but it works for me. Previously I used it to lose weight and then maintained eating a healthy diet with plenty of protein, veg and occasional fruit and starchy veg, a bit of brown rice every now and then. Nuts, seeds, small amounts of dairy. It worked really well and I felt great for years. As soon as I started snacking on sugary crap because I was so stressed and upset, the weight piled on and I craved carby meals. I couldn't face my usual healthy , tasty meals which I previously really enjoyed. Totally vicious cycle. Anyway, the stress has gone and I'm determined to fix my weight and my health.

I want to keep this thread positive, motivational and free from talk of food and cheating!

Start weight 14.3 (yikes)

Sarayu Wed 02-Jan-13 16:23:21

I need a buddy! Day 1 of slim and save for me. Currently 225lb :-( want to lose roughly 5 stone but will see how I feel when I get near that. Not the first time I've done a VLCD but am desperate AGAIN. My husband is away for 2 months so desperate to lose at least 2 stone x

Sarayu Wed 02-Jan-13 16:24:27

PS Slim & save is cheaper with a wider option. I found my CD counsellor wasn't actually that helpful. I've only told my husband I'm doing it, no one else.

Pompbear Wed 02-Jan-13 19:01:10

Yay! A reply!

Just off to look up slim and save....

2 stone is easily do-able in 2 months!

Sarayu Wed 02-Jan-13 19:25:49

smile Hello! 2 stone is my starting point, got a loooooooong way to go. Not been too bad today except for tea time. Couldn't resist some ham but it's nothing compared to what I normally eat.My S&S order is coming tomorrow and I'm actually excited about trying the meals and having the bars. Having 4 packs a day should help me through. Have you got an order tomorrow or already got some in the house? x

Sarayu Wed 02-Jan-13 19:26:42

Whoops just realised I posted about food AND cheating. I promise to try harder tomorrow.

Pompbear Wed 02-Jan-13 20:07:44

Haha!

I have some in but not a lot, hope CDC gets back k go me asap so I can get more. I think I'll also order some slim and save - thanks for the tip. Its)'s SO much cheaper!

Sarayu Wed 02-Jan-13 20:44:04

Is your CDC any good? I found that mine didnt motivate me at all. If I can get through till Monday I'll be ok. Back to work and the kids back at school, usually so busy that I don't have time to think about it.

pink90 Thu 03-Jan-13 13:12:35

I'm starting cambridge tomorrow - just been to get my stuff today - hopefully going to do a few weeks then try and low carb - just like the kick start of the big weight loss

Sarayu Thu 03-Jan-13 13:25:50

Good luck pink90. Day 2 for me. The kids are driving me insane so it is testing me to my limits angry

Pompbear Thu 03-Jan-13 16:49:15

I don't really bother with my CDC much, just grab my shakes and run! Haven't started today as had no response and only have enough for a few days. Low carving until I can get more. Going to order some slim and save tonight because I just want to get started. I think it will be easier when school starts back, our aren't back until weds! Driving me mad at the moment with constant arguing over toys.

Pompbear Fri 04-Jan-13 09:08:25

Picking my packs up tonight, phew! And ordered a slim and save intro pack so starting today. Have a really awful cold so hoping that will help anyway as no appetite...

How's everyone else? Me and my DH are in competition now. Whoever loses he most as a percentage by 1st April gets £50 to spend on whatever (assuming we have a spare £50 that it is!)

I'm really competitive so this should help keep me on track.

ThePippy Fri 04-Jan-13 16:28:01

Hi, can I join in? I am (re) starting Lighter Life next Wednesday (9th). I lost 7 stone with them 4 years ago, but 3 pregnancies (1 miscarriage and 2 babies), a bout of PND and lots of stress later and I am probably looking at needing to loose the same again!

I have reached the desperate point though, which I think I need to be to find the motivation to get started on a VLCD, so I am feeling quite relieved that I have signed up again. My only worry is my DC2 is still not sleeping through at over a year and so I am knackered and I have memories of feeling quite tired on LL previously (and that was pre-kids wearing me out), but something has to give as I feel like my weight is out of control right now.

Anyway, good luck to everyone else and I will let you all know my starting weight after the meeting next week.

leelteloo Sat 05-Jan-13 08:51:56

Yea, found some cd dieters grin. I thought mn would be the last place and if I posted anything about it I would get slammed with the usual "it's dangerous, you put it all back on bla bla bla."
I know it's probably not as "healthy" as healthy eating but I like results and I'm an all or nothing person: and been having way too much ALL.
So I started cd 2 days ago and this is killer day 3, should be in ketosis by tonight. I have not cheated and lost 4 pounds already grin.
I was 11.5 and want to be 9.7. I am going to do soul source for 2 weeks and then probably stay on it during the week and come off but eat healthy at weekends, see how that goes. I've got loads of social things coming up, usually I have no social life. Just typical!
The hardest thing I have found this time is cooking for my 3 year old. She eats like a sparrow and hoovering up her left overs has become a bad habit. Last time she was still just a baby. My son is 4 months and sometimes sleeps through but I am mostly up for one night feed and up with both of them by 6. So used to being tired.
I am also in competition with my dh, he has more to loose than me but its more about who can stick to it longer: I will not be the first to crack!
Good luck to those starting today or tomorrow grin. We can Do It!

Pompbear Sat 05-Jan-13 18:04:39

Day one was OK, this cold is terrible which is actually helping. I feel bloody awful but no appetite.

Been heating my Choc shakes up and they're really lovely as a hot Choc ( I can't taste much but I don't think you'd know it wasn't an ordinary hot Choc!).

My top tip for tiredness is Q10 supplement and additional iron supplement once or twice a week, have to be careful of constipation. I take lactulose before bed twice a week to help.

Hope everyone who has started is doing OK today. You can do it Puppy, the weight will be off in no time!

leelteloo Sat 05-Jan-13 21:33:18

I like them warm too, in the morning I make my choc shake with filter coffee: it's like a mocha and gets me moving. I use one of those smoothly blenders, makes all the shakes and soups really fluffy.
Well done to everyone who got through today. I managed to go through Md drive through and it didn't kill me, nearly did though wink

Pompbear Sun 06-Jan-13 20:25:03

Still doing OK, how's everyone else? Had a sneaky peak on scales and am 5lbs down in 4 days of low Carb and now CDC so I'm pretty happy! Not finding it too hard yet either!

Am do SO focused on my goal it really helps. Another thing that has helped is thst I bought 4 tunics and some new leggings. Just cheap stuff but I was so uncomfortable squished into clothes much too small and I looked terrible. I'm not going yo win any style awards but I look presentable, there is no flesh escaping (!) And im comfortable! Been making effort to do hair a bit and put a little bit of makeup on so I feel better. Really seems to help motivate me. I had really given.up on myself before christmas and I was ready to give up and me fat. But no more! Slim I will be!!

leelteloo Sun 06-Jan-13 21:08:19

Bought a new dress today too Pombear, it's all about the motivation! I just keep the phrase "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" running round my head. But I am getting bored, I love to cook and making the evening meal is a big part of my day and big glass if wine is a big part of relaxing. So I just feel at a loose end really. But that's another day done and dusted. Off to bed with a camomile tea.

Pompbear Sun 06-Jan-13 21:22:20

Ooh, what's it like?

I have lots of baths and early nights to get me through it.

We can do it!

mamatwinnies Sun 06-Jan-13 22:16:23

Hi everyone, staring the Cd sole source tomorrow and am all excited. Hope to be on it for two months( how possible is that!) . Am presently size 18 but hoping for 12/14' . Leelteloo and pompbear are you guys exercising already?

Pompbear Sun 06-Jan-13 22:47:55

Hiya, nope just because of this bloody cold. But I'm hoping to walk and possibly swim. Its tough as you have little energy but I'm going to try.

I'm aiming (I might be mad) for 5 stone in 4 months. So I really need to do some exercise if I can.

I'd like to be a 10/12!

Good luck for tomorrow.

leelteloo Mon 07-Jan-13 07:19:19

Wrote really long post and stupid and it disappeared when I went to post....grrrr bloody mn app, don't you know I have very low blood sugar and I'm extremely irritable!!!!
Any how, hi Mamatwinnies, your weight loss plan sounds doable on the cd but at the beginning I doubt you'll have energy to exercise. You don't need to on ss, you loose weight any way.
Pombear, evening baths sound like a good idea. My dress is a black fitted number that doesn't look that great but hoping it will look lovely on my birthday next month.
Have a good food free day today all.

Pompbear Mon 07-Jan-13 09:21:21

Woah! Feeling it today. The dreaded dsy 3/4. No energy, starving, headache. Going to be a struggle. Cold still going strong too, worst cold I've had in years, hardly slept because of coughing which doesn't help. Off for some red bush tea. Positive thoughts, positive thoughts!w

Bring on ketosis.... hopefully tomorrow?!

Hope you all have a good day!

namechangecity Mon 07-Jan-13 12:00:29

ok I am in - I saw some photos of me at xmas - all the motivation I need. what is red bush tea?

namechangecity Mon 07-Jan-13 12:11:04

I do hope we can converse the other side of 5 stone - that would be marvellous and we could do it by June!

ThePippy Mon 07-Jan-13 12:47:53

Morning all. Well done to all who have started and stuck to it so far. 3 more days or normality for me then start on Thursday (late lighter life meeting on Wednesday night). I can't wait to get going as I feel like a whale now. I am up for a 5 stone target by June. I know its going to be tough but hoping that I will get in the groove like I did with LL the first time. Hope you all have good weeks and looking forward to seeing those pounds tumble!

namechangecity Mon 07-Jan-13 13:28:25

ok for the dense among us shall we start a roll call that we can add to so that I at least can try and keep a handle on who is here?:

name target loss (realistic)

name change city 4 stone

namechangecity Mon 07-Jan-13 13:29:03

we may want to add a start date too for late arrivers so can the next person add third column of start date?

Pompbear Mon 07-Jan-13 14:14:41

We can/ will! Skinny for summer! Redvush or rooibos tea, its herbal no caffeine but not sweet. I don't drink black tea buts its prob v similar. I drink gallons when.on CDC. Also fizzy water as it seems so much nicer to drink.

If I'm desperate for something to chew, I eat cubes of cucumber.

TwoFacedCows Mon 07-Jan-13 14:52:23

hi guys,

I did Cambridge earlier last year. Hats of to you, it nearly killed me!! I did lose 3 stone though!

I have lots of soups and shakes left. I wondered if anyone wanted them?

anyone interested, pm me and I can send you a list of what and how many I have!

Pompbear Mon 07-Jan-13 15:03:12

Sorry, didn't notice roll call!

Pompbear. 5 stone.

Sole source for 4 stone.

leelteloo Mon 07-Jan-13 15:07:24

Good plan re the stats but I can't cut and paste on the app on my iPod. So I'll add me when I get the lap top out; if I can find the energy to climb the stairs.
Finding coffee is making me feel really sick and light headed so going caffeine free as of now.
Food shopping for the little one today nearly killed me. confused

Pompbear Mon 07-Jan-13 15:26:45

Oh duh I should have pasted, will do it properly lately. Blaming my cold for fuzzy brain!

gobbymare Mon 07-Jan-13 16:12:56

I have been debating wether to start the slim and save diet but I'm a little worried about it due to doing LL 3 years ago and being really ill to the point I was bleeding from somewhere I shouldn't have been.

I have a holiday booked in may and know I won't be happy with myself or comfortable when there. ... so I guess I'm asking how long people stay on these diets and any success stories or advice to help me make my mind up either way.

leelteloo Tue 08-Jan-13 13:49:15

Wrote another post that disappeared confused: very frustrating! It's hard enough to type on this silly iPod!
I was saying that I didn't know slim and save, but I know cd works if you stick to it and it works fast. I've lost half a stone in a week.

Pompbear Tue 08-Jan-13 17:53:31

My slim and save stuff arrived and - tried a coconut bar and it was quite nice. Not fantastic but pleasant iykwim.

Will try a shake later. I also bought their "white wine" water flavour. I don't have high hopes but its got to be worth a shot. Gunna try it in chilled sparkling water later on. I shall report back!

I'm in ketosis now and feeling pretty good - if only I could shake this bloody cold!

Low carbing for a few days before starting really helped, the first few days were far less traumatic than they have been in the past after a Carb binge.

And I've lost 7lbs already!!! Chuffed to bits! In 4 days CD and 3 days low Carb. You just can't beat it.

Slim and save looks to be just like cd but you buy online and its a lot cheaper. I'm doing a combo, Choc bricks from my CDCabd powdered shakes from SS. SS also do meals and soups but I have never liked the CD soups so don't want to waste money trying other flavours when I know what I like!

How is everyone else doing?

I'm so fat I can't wait to feel normal again. This time last year ( ish) I was 4,.5 stone lighter. And I remember sharing a cake with my dcs at a cafe in a zoo and feeling proud that I had lost my pregnancy weight and could have a treat with the kids without worrying if other parents were thinking what a bad example I am to my kids for being so overweight and still eating cake. I never eat anywhere like that now as I just feel so shit, and judged. People probably don't even notice but I'm so annoyed and ashamed at my weight that I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking like that anyway. I think it of myself. Anyway, not for much longer and never again!!

MayTheOddsBeEverInYourFavour Tue 08-Jan-13 18:15:40

Hi everyone, I am back on the vlcd wagon (mixture of exante and slim and save)

I'm on day five now and I'm very happy in my little ketosis bubble grin hot baths and lots of coke zero have been my saviours so far

Hope everyone's managing ok today

Pompbear Tue 08-Jan-13 20:05:27

Well so far slim and save is a winner. Just had a chic shake and it was really nice. Not much diff to CD, maybe slightly nicer.... white wine drink powder smells funny which has put me off. Tastes OK. Like a v delicately flavoured water - elder flower or similar.

Will stick to my sparkling water and red bush tea tho.

Cannot wait to be slim again!!

namechangecity Tue 08-Jan-13 23:22:11

how comes you can have coke zero and how much?? Does it not affect ketosis?

namechangecity Tue 08-Jan-13 23:23:46

by choc bricks do you mean the tetra pacs?

Pompbear Tue 08-Jan-13 23:59:03

Yes sorry, tetras - always have one in my bag for emergencies! I think coke zero is OK as no citric acid but my memory is vague. Although tbh, diet drinks never seem to effect my weight loss...

leelteloo Wed 09-Jan-13 05:13:45

I'm sticking to black leaf tea or coffee and water for 1st 2 weeks, was told not to have diet drinks. Yesterday was much easier, phew!

cakehappy Wed 09-Jan-13 12:23:13

Can I join in too? I did CD last year in April for 8 weeks and lost almost 3 stone, Im ready to do the last of the diet, will do another 8 weeks with a weightloss of 3 stone I hope. I am currently 13.3 st and 5.5 inches so a bit on the heavy side...sighhh...Doing CD, 3 "meals" a day plus 125 g of protein. usually chicken. Hope this goes well!! I am sure it is. I had a gradual start over the last 3 days (and already lost 3lbs) and today is the first full CD diet day. I am drinking green tea does anyone know if thats okay??

PortiaPony Wed 09-Jan-13 14:52:39

I'm on day 3 of All about w8 which is similar to CD. Chose this one as there's a local counsellor whereas no-one for CD and the LL person i met was barmy. So far its ok, but i'm just trying to keep busy. Work is fine, its the evenings.. i have a feeling the house will be very tidy until these evening cravings disappear! I have a real habit of snacking watching TV to crack. Need to get rid of this baby weight (baby is now 2 blush ) and get back to who i am which i lost totally post baby.

PortiaPony 2 1/2 stone
All about w8 (4 packs plus a high protein meal)

PortiaPony Wed 09-Jan-13 14:54:04

cakehappy - green tea is fine, actually some evidence its speeds up metabolism esp in those low carbing.

PootlePosyPerkin Wed 09-Jan-13 15:00:30

Hello everyone, may I join you? grin

I lost 5 stone on CD three years and - like the OP - a mixture of pregnancy and mega stress has seen it all come back (well, four stone of it anyway!).

I am starting again tomorrow (10th) - my total weightloss goal is 8 stone blush, but am focusing myself on two stone at a time "mini-targets".

Best of luck everyone!

leelteloo Wed 09-Jan-13 16:12:31

Hello to all the new joiners grin. Not feeling any problems today, just that funny sweet taste and needing to pee ALL the time. 7 days today: just 7 more of ss before I go up a step.!! Bring it on!

PootlePosyPerkin Wed 09-Jan-13 16:42:09

I have just had a look at the Slim & Save website and decided to give that a whirl instead of CD, as I much prefer being able to order online & get the full choice of flavours. My previous CDC only used to stock things she knew people would buy - makes sense as she had to buy big boxes of stuff & pay for it, even if she couldn't find customers to sell it on to!

I will still be starting tomorrow though as I have 4 full days worth of CD shakes to use up & will move on to the S&S after that.

PootlePosyPerkin 2 stone (initial target)

CD Sole Source until 14.1.13 then Slim & Save

ThePippy Thu 10-Jan-13 11:19:31

Morning all,

So I had my first LL meeting last night and I am now feeling really excited to get on with things, especially as I weighed in at an eye popping 17.5 stone!!! Still, a stone per month off with LL should soon see that starting to drop dramatically.

Hope everyone is on track an in ketosis now.

PootlePosyPerkin Thu 10-Jan-13 14:04:25

Just checking back in, have started today on Day 1 of using up leftover CD stocks! My Slim & Save order arrived this morning too, so will be giving that a go from Sunday.

Just hoping my willpower holds out over the next 3/4 days - I'm pretty sure if I can get through that I will be OK.

My first target is to lose 2 stone which I'm hoping to do by Easter (31st March). Hope everyone else is doing well today smile.

ThePippy Thu 10-Jan-13 14:30:18

Hi Again

So I think the idea of the roll call is great, so I thought I'd put a bit of effort in and get it off the ground....

I have listed everyone in order of when they joined the thread and have gone for .... name (plan e.g. CD, S&S etc) Start weight/size (start date) then the goal.. Apologies if I have got anything wrong, some of the info was gleaned by reading through the posts etc...

Pompbear(CD): 14.3st (3rd Jan) Goal = 9.3st
Sarayu(S&S) 16.1st (2nd Jan) Goal = 11.1st
Pink90 (CD) ?? (4th Jan) Goal = ??
ThePippy (LL) 17.7st (9th Jan) Goal = 9.7st
Leelteloo (CD) 11.5st (3rd Jan) Goal = 9.7st
Mamatwinnies (CD) size 18 (7th Jan) Goal = size 12/14

PootlePosyPerkin (S&S) ?? (10th Jan) Goal = lose 8st

AyeOopMoose Thu 10-Jan-13 15:35:50

Ladies,

I have been inspired by you. I did LL about 10 years ago and lost about 5 stone, kept it off for years then met DH and slowly crept up and up and.....

Two DC later and I find myself needing to lose 8st. I would like to say I feel better for writing that. But I don't I feel ashamed and unhealthy. I hate the fact that already I struggle to keep up with DC and feel judged by people when I walk down the street. I am dreading going back to work after maternity leave because of how I look.

I want to be slim and be able to do things with my young DCs. I have tried SW and Diet Chef recently but it is too slow and I have the option of "cheating".

I need a way where there is no negotiation about what I can have and I want fast results. I have just ordered a month of slim & save for delivery tomorrow.

2.5 stone initial target by holiday in March
7 stone target for summer holiday in August

Roll on Tuesday when I should be over the worst!

How's everyone else getting on?

leelteloo Thu 10-Jan-13 15:49:39

Awesome role callgringringrin

leelteloo Thu 10-Jan-13 15:58:36

Well done Ayeoopmouse; you are over the first hurdle of deciding nows the time to start dieting! I'm sure we can meet our goals if we support each other.
I'm having a hard day, really really feel like giving in!! What's that all about, it's only been a week and a day. I don't feel hungry, I'm just craving all sort of food and driving my self nuts. I also want wine, now!!!!
Ah well, I know I'm not going to cave, I can't be the first. Luckily I am very competitive and that's what's keeping me away from the left over curry in the fridge at my mums hmm
Hope you lovely ladies are having better days.

leelteloo Thu 10-Jan-13 17:18:04

I am in competition with dh by the way not any of you; would not judge anyone for giving in, it is very very hard!

leelteloo Thu 10-Jan-13 17:20:31

What is up with this stupid stupid ap???? Every time I post something it bloody disappears! It is proper driving me NUTS.
Any way just wanted to say I am in competition with dh not you guys. Cd is so so so tough.

busyhouseof8 Thu 10-Jan-13 18:23:02

Can I add myself to the end of your roll call? Was on CD last year and lost 5 stone. Following complete idiocy I find myself back at 14.10st - put back 3 stone!

So...........off I go again. Started on Monday and already 6lbs down hooray!

Dad's joining me and the kids on hols in August so really must be back to around 11.5st for then - can't face the inevitable comments from him and want to bound about in my cossy like I did last year. I actually walked down the whole beach and took the kids swimming in the sea and they loved it.

Pompbear(CD): 14.3st (3rd Jan) Goal = 9.3st
Sarayu(S&S) 16.1st (2nd Jan) Goal = 11.1st
Pink90 (CD) ?? (4th Jan) Goal = ??
ThePippy (LL) 17.7st (9th Jan) Goal = 9.7st
Leelteloo (CD) 11.5st (3rd Jan) Goal = 9.7st
Mamatwinnies (CD) size 18 (7th Jan) Goal = size 12/14
Namechangecity (??) ?? (7th Jan) Goal = lose 4st
MayTheOddsBeEverInYourFavour (S&S) ?? (4th Jan) Goal = ??
Cakehappy (CD) 13.3st (9th Jan) Goal = 10.3st
PortiaPony (W8) ?? (7th Jan) Goal = lose 2.7st
PootlePosyPerkin (S&S) ?? (10th Jan) Goal = lose 8st
busyhouseof8 (CD) 14.10st (7th Jan) Goal = 11.5st

leelteloo Thu 10-Jan-13 19:43:37

Hi Busyhouse grin

Pompbear Thu 10-Jan-13 21:40:49

Wow! Great roll call, thanks Busy!

Still going good here. I tried the slim and save mac cheese.... it wasn't great. to my tastebuds, better than the CD tom soup I once tried that literally made me gag for days just thinking about it. But I won't be eating it again.

The sauce is like the nacho cheese sauce you get in cinemas and the 'pasta' is crispy... weird. No more experiments for me. Choc shakes all the way.

Glad to see more of us here!

I had a black coffee in starbucks today and the queue was huge so I had loads of time to stare at the cakes and argue with myself. Anyway, I abstained. I didn't really want anything. I'd been window shopping and rather than feeling crap, i felt really upbeat. it's only a few months before I'll fit in smaller sizes again. I just keep focusing on the fact that my huge size (I am ROUND! as I am also a short arse) is temporary.

I did my hair, put a bit of makeup on and wore the best of my new fat clothes which makes me feel so much better than when I wear crappy stuff becaus e'there's no point making an effort at this size'. I'm really trying to make an effort wiht my appearance to help keep me motivated.

Anyway, another good day, loads of water, vits, fibre etc and my cold is going!

Hope you've all had a good day, and remember your FIBRE!!! :-)

ThePippy Fri 11-Jan-13 11:31:14

Morning all. So I survived day 1 and it wasn't too tricky. Day 2 today and already finding it hard going. I am a bit diet coke drinker and think I am missing that the most, but I am also really hungry. Hoping that tails off soon!!

Hope you are all having a good day.

cakehappy Fri 11-Jan-13 12:51:23

Great roll call!! Great that there is so many of us!! We can do it!So far I have done okay, there has been some shift on the scales which is good! I dont think that I am in Ketosis yet, I thought I was yesterday due to funny breath but I am not sure. I must admit I am a bit cranky these days, as I am just getting used to the changes in diet! Anyone else a bit moody??

leelteloo Fri 11-Jan-13 16:03:50

We're becoming quite a gang now grin. Easier day today. Yes, to the moodiness at the beginning.

Pompbear Fri 11-Jan-13 16:15:07

Another good day for me. Been out with D's one in the cold all day and survived.lunch in a lovely cafe so feeling v pleased with myself.

I would say, if you find it really tough and a diet coke would keep u from jacking it in, have one, or a coke zero.
Better that than something full of sugar and carbs.

Ghats partly why j drink sparkling water. Coke makes no difference to my weight loss at all...

Never did in atkjns either

Well done all of us. Its tough, ESP in winter but come summer we will look AMAZING! So keep going.

People new to the diet. Do do do remember fibre!! I cent tell you how important it is!! You will regret it if you don't. Its a nightmare. I also take lactulose 2 eves a week to be on the safe side.

Vlcd constipation is not pretty!

What do you mean by fibre Pom? X

Pompbear Fri 11-Jan-13 17:51:21

I take psyllium (sp?) Husks.

Sorry for typos on.phone and screen is broken!

There is no fibre (or v v little) in the shakes and soups so it can play HAVOC with your digestive system! And you won't realise until its too late and you're in agony. Plenty of water, a good fibre supplement and a mild laxative in case of problems, and you will be fine!

Sarayu Fri 11-Jan-13 17:53:48

I totally forgot to check back in! Day 10 for me and I am 8.5lbs down, very happy. Really enjoying my shakes/meals and feel motivated. Had to go to tesco today and buy some smaller work trousers as my others were falling off. They were a little big anyway. Goodbye size 22! Hang in there over the weekend, it is worth it smile

Pompbear Fri 11-Jan-13 18:46:38

Yay!! Good for you sarayu!

Fab loss!

ThePippy Sat 12-Jan-13 14:30:36

Well done sarayu, hope we can all be so successful!

I am resisting diet coke at the moment as I am a total addict and was hoping to use this time to break that. I could never just have one!

Made it to day 3 though with no slips, yay!

Finding it easier today so hopefully day 2 was just the hunger.

Nice weekends to everyone.

Came here for some motivation. Day 1 was ok, even after taking DD2 to A&E last night (fell on her head)-usually would have picked something up on the way home but v focused.

So day 2 now and I am soooo hungry. I think it's really kicking in. I am going to weigh every day for the first week, as suggested, to keep focus.

Well done Sarayo that's the sort of inspiration I was looking for!

I know that tomorrow will be better...

Sarayu Sat 12-Jan-13 19:08:49

Wohooo it wasn't 8.5lb, it was 10lb. The app I was using to track was wrong. Hang in there everyone, think of the summer

Pompbear Sun 13-Jan-13 18:46:29

Woohoo, weigh in day, 12lbs off!!!

Dh doing low fat and lost 2lbs.... so I'm winning by quite a bit. I feel great too. Not struggling at all so far.

Of course getting snowed in could change all this!

How is everyone else?

Wow 12lbs is awesome! Well done pompbear. Can't wait for my weigh in on Wednesday evening now. 4 days down now and starting to feel a bit easier, or at least just the norm now.

leelteloo Sun 13-Jan-13 20:49:20

WTG Pombear, that is awesome. So pleased for you grin

Ooh, hello. I'm at the end of day 4; the last two days have been awful, but I'm hanging in there.

I'm going to swap the vile leek and potato soup, vegetable soup and maple and pecan porridge tomorrow. I can still smell the leek and potato soup. YUCK.

Am preferring the shakes, despite being a savoury lover.

I am huge - would like to lose 5-6 stone.

Thanks! Nearly a stone already, so so pleased!

To anyone suffering in the early days, just stick with it. It gets better, benefits:

Stomach feels great, no bloating
Masses of energy when.ketosis kicks in
Amazing weight loss

The first bit it hard but it really works so just get through it.

If you're really struggling, eat something low fat and low car, like a few slices of ham.or chicken. Have a diet coke or a skinny cappuccino. Anything that will keep you going without totally giving up.

Remember any cheating will throw you right back yo the start and you'll have to endure the really hard few days again.so its just not worth it.

In a few months you will be CONSIDERABLY slimmer!!! So stick with it!

Red bush and green tea fine. I drink gallons.

I hate the soups. I stick to Choc shakes but I do crave savory like mad!

Keep going everyone and wrap up warm! I'm always freezing on this diet!

busyhouseof8 Mon 14-Jan-13 08:21:24

Hooray hooray. First week done and lost 10.5lbs!

I had said to myself that if I could stick to plan for a week then I would carry on, so it looks like I'm on the bus!

Have a good day everybody. xx

TantrumsandBananas Mon 14-Jan-13 09:58:43

Hi folks,

I did Exante last year and lost two stone, but gave up and have put it all back on....

So starting again Wednesday, only just ordered, hoping it will arrive tomorrow

I need to loose 4/5 stone.

Its the only thing that works for me. I don't tell anyone I'm doing it, apart from DH as people can be so negative, and try and put you off. Thing is I can be so easily swayed - I get confused and doubt myself and think its all wrong!

Does that make sense? Its lack of confidence I think.

Excellent, Busy! It's reading these weight losses that is keeping me going. Day 5 for me and I'm still hungry! I've been 100% to plan and thought ketosis may be in by now. And no sleep again until gone 3, ggrrrr.

Does anyone else use minimins? There are some fabulously inspirational posters, you've just to get past the tickers, hunning and many posts ending 'xxxxxxxx'. Bad, grumpy Lawrence.

<hauls self from sofa for apple and cinnamon porridge>

What does make me laugh is that, on the back of the soup packs, it reads something like "our delicious soups can be enjoyed by anyone". Yeah, if I wasn't a heffer, I'd choose a rank space soup over any other hmm

Have a great day all you other skinnies-to-be.

Based on advice on here I just whizzed up my black coffee with a pack of chocolate shake to make a "mocha". Less awful than I anticipated! I've run out of porridge and couldn't face a cold shake after freezing on school run.

PP - I played some sort of dance game with DD at the weekend on the Xbox. I was hopeless, but it gave the kids a laugh and was an excellent way to shake my booty and I ended up out of breath so I can recommend. Got some sort of fitness thing for the Xbox turning up soon but then that requires me to actually do it on my own, which I'm less good at. Why can't I be less lazy??

I know what you mean about the photos Pom and Tis.

DD who is 9 had to take an A4 photo of her mum in to dance class as they are all going to hold the pictures up in their show. Off her own back she told her teacher that "mum doesn't like photos of herself" so she was allowed to draw one! Quick thinking for her but a bit mortifying - why have I got to this position that I can't even look at a photo of myself.

Bloody hell - time to get sorted! xx

Bloody hell! I have to update as I am SOOOOO pleased.

On S&S since Friday and in those 3 days I've lost 8lbs!!!! I know that won't continue but what motivation (I am HUGE, mind).

Can't wait for Friday weigh in now. Keep going everyone, it's hard but it will be so worth it come summer.

Also for anyone considering S&S so far what I've had is really good and I've tried 'em all CD, LL, W8! Varied and tasty well as a foodpack can get

Also added myself to the roll call below:

Tis TBH I am treating S&S as other VLCD and not calorie counting.

I just have the 4 packs but if you want to add the protein/restricted veg I'm sure you could. I just find it easier not to eat anything! I wouldn't worry about the exact calorie count.

Pompbear Mon 14-Jan-13 21:20:23

I just have 4 packs. Any food just sends me off track.

Great loss Ayeoop!

namechangecity Mon 14-Jan-13 21:34:19

I am here -fell right off wagon as had to host 2 parties in last 7 days. I am BACK ON TRACK tomorrow - someone please remind me! smile

I'm losing a pound a day at present; very happy smile

Pompbear Wed 16-Jan-13 08:23:48

Ever so slight blip for me. Heating broke so I've been frozen and tired and grumpy. Anyway, not dwelling on it. Back on track now!

How's everyone else? I feel the cold so much more on this diet. Thankfully British gas have fixed ours now! Its seriously miserable trying to sleep in 8 degrees!

I'm just started an evening class. It's 12 weeks so I should look.significantly different by the end of it. Can't wait!

Have a good day everyone! Just keep going

atallskinnylatte Wed 16-Jan-13 11:19:19

hello
please can i join?
I am starting cambridge today.. using packs left over, not going to a councellor, so need support!

busyhouseof8 Wed 16-Jan-13 12:02:49

Hello atsl welcome to our group!

I'm also using up my leftover packs for now. Finally going to see my old CDC next Tuesday by which time I'll have been back on the diet a couple of weeks.

Keep going - you know the first few days are the hardest but Paracetamol sorts the inevitable headache and it is worth it!

Does anyone know which shakes taste alright mixed with hot water? Can't face cold drinks at the moment!

Have a great day everyone. smile

atallskinnylatte Wed 16-Jan-13 12:30:21

thanks bho8
I am having my first shake now. Cappuccino... Im worried i will stick to it for a few days then lose motivation.. I need to think more positively. I may do what you are, see how i go then book to see a CDC.. I have previously lost 4 stone and i have put a stone back on - a slippery slope so want to do something about it now. I am 10 st 5 pounds and would like to be 9 stone 3 to 5 pounds... I am going on holiday on 18th Feb, do you think it can be done by then?!

busyhouseof8 Wed 16-Jan-13 13:33:42

Why not - I lost 10.5lbs last week. We know a lot of that is water in the first week, but still losing about a pound a day so your goal is achievable.

I lost 4.5 stone the first time round. I've put 2.5 stone back on (groan) so that's why I'm back in the game. I've decided that rather than beat myself up, I will just think positively that I am still more than 2 stone lighter than I was at my worst and I'm dealing with the rest.

atallskinnylatte Wed 16-Jan-13 14:01:18

well done, 10.5 pounds - wow..are you doing sole source? any tips on how to survive the first 3 days? I am getting a headache already!

leelteloo Wed 16-Jan-13 17:40:51

I always have my choc shakes hot; either whizzed up with coffee or hot water. I only have choc shakes and veg soup as I don't like any others.
Tips for getting through first days.... None really, it's bloody hard but so worth it.
I'm coming off the diet tomorrow for a few days as I've got loads of social stuff this weekend, so I'm going to have to go through the 3 days pain again next week. I'll then do another 2 weeks souls source to bring me up to my birthday.
I just hope if I come off the cd diet I will be able to get back on: saw my bum in a shop mirror today and its still maHousive!!!!!!

clpsmum Wed 16-Jan-13 21:07:37

Due to be weighed on Friday and got my sodding period today. This is week one for me so hoping and praying I've lost something or think I may lose motivation!

ThePippy Wed 16-Jan-13 22:15:43

Evening all. I had to post to let you all know I had my LL meeting tonight and have lost 12lb in my first week. Totally shock but thrilled about it. Made a nice dent in the rather hefty 8 stone I want to loose.

countrykitten Thu 17-Jan-13 11:00:38

Been there, done that and now my 'stable' weight is a stone heavier than I used to be and losing weight is SO much harder. I am not knocking any of you for doing CD - I did it too and lost a lot of weight. For a year. And now I am fatter. Just remember that it's a business and relies on people ending up on a yo-yo dieting rollercoaster. I wish you all the best but am not convinced that you will keep it off.

Plus - please consider the loose skin if you have lots to lose - it's too rapid for your body to cope with which is why (as an over 35) I would never consider a crash diet. I did CD as a twenty something and my skin handled it but I know it wouldn't now.

But as one who has been there and felt dreadful about my fatness - I do genuinely wish you all the best.

ThePippy Thu 17-Jan-13 12:24:45

countrykitten have you considered that it could just be your age that is making your stable weight higher and the ability to lose weight harder? I have done LL before, lost 7st (loose skin was not an issue and I was 38 when I finished it) and have not found things any different since. Yes I gained the weight back, but like any diet if you do what you always did you will get what you always got, and for me that means I went back to eating badly. No VLCD is a work of magic that will rid you of the weight once and for all. I'm sure everyone on this thread understands that and realises that the really hard work starts when we've reached our goals. This hard work is the same no matter what route you have taken to get there, but for me plodding on 1lb or so a week at a time for 8stone is not an option I seem to be able to stick to, but the motivation of losing so fast on VLCD keeps me going to the end. The reasons I slipped back to bad eating last time were due to an emotional response to things that wont be happening again, and while I know there will be other things I have to deal with, starting a new family, miscarriages and PND will certainly not feature, so I would rather not have people spreading doom about how I probably wont keep it off before I have even started thanks. Not really sure what your motivation for jumping in on this thread was, but I will say thanks for your best wishes and ask that you comment no more please.

countrykitten Thu 17-Jan-13 12:44:11

As I said in my post (trying to explain what can happen) I wish you all all the very the best. I have been there and know what it feels like to be depressed about my weight. Btw, I do not take kindly to being told where I can and cannot post.

ThePippy Thu 17-Jan-13 13:38:56

In that case thank you for your insight country. I didnt tell you where you could and couldn't post, I asked that you please make no more comment, a request with a please! I only ask because we are all doing this regardless and this thread is supposed to be about support and positivity. All I meant was you've said your piece.

clpsmum Thu 17-Jan-13 14:05:26

Let's all keep motivating each other and stay positive- no doom and gloom wink

Well handled Pippy; we know what lots of people think of this kind of diet but its horses for courses and we're all ok on our course and don't need to be dismounted, thanks smile.
Re adding things, I believe as long as it is a pure spice, like chilli, nutmeg, cinnamon etc its ok: but things like season all or curry powders are not ok as not a pure spice. No soy sauce or anything like that either.

atallskinnylatte Fri 18-Jan-13 09:47:17

morning all, day 3 for me. I had some chicken yesterday, which i think is ok to have from what i remember? doing ok, but tired.. i went to the gym yesterday too.. i do not want to get obsessed with the scales and weigh myself everyday! Am going to hold out until my first "weigh in" next wednesday.... aim to lose a stone by 18th feb

Pompbear Fri 18-Jan-13 10:09:15

Atall hang in there! Day 3 and 4 are tough but you'll be on day 5 before you know it. Stick.to it and you'll lose a stone by 18th Feb!

Didn't I bang on about fibre a while ago?? Well I ran out, missed 3 days and I am regretting it! Maybe I'm v sensitive to it?

Slim and save is starting to taste funny. Not sure I can last another 3 or 4 months on it. Might have to revert back to my trusty CD Choc tetras.... even though they're so much more expensive.

You know, if we can do vlcd in the weather, we can do anything.... !

Have a good day everyone. Make sure you drink.plenty of liquid even.tho its cold. Have hot water, tea, just keep your fluid intake up.

And fibre, remember the fibre!

atallskinnylatte Fri 18-Jan-13 10:11:38

thank you pompbear you really picked me up, i feel today is going to be a TOUGHIE... i will update later x

clpsmum Fri 18-Jan-13 10:43:07

Thanks leel ill make sure it's only pure spice I add.

First weigh in today and lost 4lbs quite pleased with that as I'm only on day 5. Hoping for a bit more by next Friday when ill have done a full week between being weighed.

Btw discovered a great free app called daily water that tracks how much water you drink. You can also set reminders. I've found this to be really useful

atallskinnylatte Fri 18-Jan-13 14:02:09

ok, update.. i have had 2 shakes so far today and i am finding it tough, i need to get past this stage as if i let it go now, i will be harder to start again... i am hungry :-( only day 3 on sole source. think i have a headache setting in too

AyeOopMoose Fri 18-Jan-13 14:11:16

atall You can do this hang on in there. Just think tomorrow morning how will you feel if you stuck at it? And if ate something? It is worth it.

So my update...1 week in and 15lbs lighter. I know some of it's water, I know it will slow down. But so bloody what?! 15lbs wooohoooo grin. When you've got as much to lose as I have it's great motivation.

Am well into it now and have turned into Delia in the kitchen! DH & DC have never had so many healthy home cooked meals. Eating by proxy I think.

Still enjoying S&S just had a cottage pie- nice for a change. The spag bol is lovely especially in the cold weather.

atallskinnylatte Fri 18-Jan-13 14:29:25

aom, you are right, i remember that feeling of waking up the next day thinking, i had succeeded the day before... ive just drank a load of water, but the symptoms are kicking in.. heachache etc.. and Im cold...
well done on your 15 pound weight loss! perfect motivation to keep going! what is S&S?

AyeOopMoose Fri 18-Jan-13 14:57:00

S&S= slim and save, internet based. Like CD etc, lots of choice and I think cheaper than others.

If it helps you could have a can of coke zero or dr pepper zero (no citric acid). Some people frown on this but if it keeps you going....

cakehappy Fri 18-Jan-13 15:33:20

Hi Everyone! Glad to see lots of lbs being shifted, thats great! I really struggled in the first week and my consultant has recommended 4 packets a day now, phewwwf, at least for now! However, I am down to 12 st 12 lbs, which is fab! I am seriously intending on losing a stone by Valentines day!
Im so convinced I even bought a size 12 dress online as extra motivationsmile or maybe it was just an excuse to shop....anyways! onwards and downwards! by the way to those who are worried about gaining weight back, I lost 2.5 stone in early 2012 on the Cambridge diet and 10 months later I am getting the last 2.5 off, and all those months I only gained 4 lbs. So dont worry!

Pompbear Fri 18-Jan-13 16:57:34

Aye that's exactly what I do, loads of lovely home cooking. Bizarre isn't it?!

At all, hot bath and an early night to get you through the worst?

Its only for a day or so more, and this time next week you'll have lost heaps! Just get through the tough bit.

Eat some ham or chicken if you think it will help and won't lead to u going off track

atallskinnylatte Sun 20-Jan-13 14:01:46

hello all, how are we all doing?
Well i had a sneaky weight in and i have lost 4 pounds since last Wednesday :-) i have had a few slip ups but have managed to get back on track... have to say i am getting better and the hunger pangs are getting less...
good luck everyone, keep going :-)

AyeOopMoose Sun 20-Jan-13 19:04:12

Well done at all that's a great start, keep going.

I was EVIL yesterday. Poor DH. It felt like the worst PMT ever, I knew I was being awful and just couldn't stop myself blush.

I wasn't hungry but I think I felt really resentful that it was the weekend and I wanted to "treat" myself to some nice high fat food. In the end I took myself off to bed for a couple of hours, mainly to give everyone a break!

Today I decided that I was going to go out for lunch. It was nice but in reality the thought was better than the actual food. Lesson learnt.

Back on the packs, no problems but not going to weigh until Friday now.

Have a good week everyone!

busyhouseof8 Mon 21-Jan-13 10:16:30

Hi everyone. So end of week 2 and "only" lost 4.5lbs last week. Bit disappointed really, but then I know I've not been drinking as much water as I should so what did I expect?

Still - wouldn't have lost a stone in two weeks any other way, so I know I should be positive. Going to see my CDC tomorrow and she's usually great to keep me motivated. I'm going to make a huge effort to drink this week and see if that makes a difference. Already had 4 glasses of water so just 4 more to go today!

Do any of you use the water flavourings or are they just a gimic?

Have a great day.

leelteloo Mon 21-Jan-13 14:26:49

Right I'm back after my long weekend off cd. It's hard getting back into it and I've put on 2 lbs. I did enjoy the weekend though grin.

leelteloo Tue 22-Jan-13 19:21:46

Gone very quiet... How's everyone getting on?

busyhouseof8 Tue 22-Jan-13 20:01:43

Went to see my CDC today. She was fantastic about re-motivating me.
Did a long dog walk across the snowy fields - surely got to help!

New flavour of shake - cookies and cream. I had it hot with a teaspoon of instant coffee to get rid of the sweetness and it was alright.

After a couple of weeks I might try the new bar - yogurt something or other. New since I last did CD.

Hope everyone had a good day.

Pompbear Wed 23-Jan-13 09:28:23

I've been mad busy trying to work at home with the dcs off school because of the snow.

School's open again now thank goodness!

I have drunk hardly any water for days because I'm just too cold. Still going tho.

I'm now 1 stone down in 2 weeks despite my slip up so pretty pleased

Cambridge diet 4 stone goal now, yay! Onwards and downwards!

Hope everyone else is doing well and keeping warm!

ThePippy Wed 23-Jan-13 15:36:48

Well done pompbear, you will be at goal in no time.

I have my second weigh in tonight and I am looking forward to it. I hope I push over a stone off too which should be achievable although last time I did LL my second week loss was rubbish (about 1 pound) due to I think my body just taking stock. I have stuck to plan 100% though so I know I couldn't have done any better, so it will be what it will be.

My coke cravings seem to have gone although I did really miss having a glass (or several) of wine at the weekend, especially when hubby was head down in laptop doing work catchup. I know that over time this all becomes the norm and I will miss it less and less.

Already feeling slimmer, sleeping better and my skin has improved (all the water I think) so enough there to keep me motivated.

Hope everyone else is on track in this miserable cold weather!

ThePippy Thu 24-Jan-13 10:06:22

Hi all. Weigh in last night and lost another 3lbs. Not stunning but week 2 is always a lower weight loss from experience, and it both brings my loss to over a stone and my BMI under the horrible morbid obese 40 mark - I'm just obese now yay!!

Good to all and keep going, it will all be so worth it xx

I've done CD (twice) but didn't like having to go and weigh etc and S&S seems more convenient/varied. I think there are pluses and minuses to both.

Day 1 today and I'm ok. Tip for when you're desperate or cold - a small dab of CD or S&S water flavour in hot water is lovely. It tastes like herb teas should. Herb tea always smells nice but tastes a bit meh but the water flavours are lovely. It just seems more filling than cold water.

cakehappy Thu 24-Jan-13 22:44:54

Hi, weigh in and I am down to 12 9. Not too bad, really want to get under 12 stone by Valentines day, so lose 9 lbs. 3 weeks so I should be able to do it...glad to see the many lbs lost from all of us, we are so good!!

clpsmum Fri 25-Jan-13 09:41:53

Sat waiting for CDC to arrive for week two weigh in. Eeeek very nervous!

clpsmum Fri 25-Jan-13 11:23:11

Another 4lb off which I know is quite good but feel a little but disheartened

leelteloo Fri 25-Jan-13 12:40:28

Struggling so badlyhmm. Just so cold and miserable. My knickers felt baggy this morning which is good but I am lacking motivation and I'm so tempted just to give up. Think having the weekend off last weekend messed things up, I've spent the week struggling to get off the lbs I put back on.
I am doing ss plus and that's why weight is coming off more slowly. I couldn't cope with ss, wish I could have managed ss as I would be a lot slimmer by now. One more week of cd for me and then I'm going to try 5:2 for a while and get on my rowing machine!!!

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance Fri 25-Jan-13 17:41:27

2lb a week is a good loss, but I understand why you're disheartened. I used to be able to shift that on WW or SW- when I was much younger though. I stuck at a certain weight for weeks on CDC but when I went up a level, I started to lose again. Why not try that rather than blowing the whole thing?

It's a tough enough diet when you see a good loss but it can be soul-destroying if you don't get the losses you'd like.

busyhouseof8 Fri 25-Jan-13 19:19:04

I'm the same this week (week 3). Looking at my scales I only seem to have lost half a pound since Tuesday! Very disheartening.

It is my busy time for work (I do tax) so I am chained to my desk. I'm hoping that a bit more activity this weekend and in the coming week will help get things moving again.

(Double) chins up everyone - we can do this!

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance Sat 26-Jan-13 08:47:19

5lb off in the first 2 days.
I know it's glycogen and water but it still means I'm 1/4 of the way to my 20lb goal.
Woo hoo!

leelteloo Sat 26-Jan-13 10:23:09

Thanks for the encouragement! I haven't quit smile. I am sticking with it for another week and then it's my birthday and January will be over. I am then going to do 5:2 or day on day off fasting to get the last 5lbs off and row row my boat!

leelteloo Sat 26-Jan-13 18:38:13

Feel great today, going ss, must have been just the hell of getting back into ketosis! smile. This week should be much easier. Hope everyone is doing on?

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance Sat 26-Jan-13 19:00:36

Yes that's probably why you felt horrible. Glad you feel better.

I've got a big party to go to next Friday and though I won't be drinking alcohol, I will be going out for a meal first. I hardly ever get to go out to a 'do' so I'm prepred to put up with the fall out of getting back into ketosis rather than be full of resentment on the party night and decide 'stuff it' and give up altogether.

starlight12 Sun 27-Jan-13 13:17:54

Hi everyone, im new to Cambridge, I am going on holiday mid march, how much weight do u think ill be able to lose until then , and how do I maximise the weight loss.

atallskinnylatte Sun 27-Jan-13 18:03:42

hello everyone, have been on for a while and had a blip and will start again properly tomorrow (split with bf so i have been turning to food :-(...
starlight12 - welcome. My councellor said to me about a stone per month. Maximise by drinking LOADS of water. It is not easy to start with.
can anyone explain how ketosis works?

Joolspudding Sun 27-Jan-13 19:42:43

Hi , I hope I'm not too late to join in. I'm starting CD tomorrow and also need to lose 5st !! I'm 14st and need to get to 9st 6lb. Well done to you all for your amazing weight losses so far !! :0)

leelteloo Sun 27-Jan-13 20:44:30

Hi new guys, I've been on ss & ss+ since jan 2nd with a long weekend completely off and I've lost a stone. I am sure it would have been more if I'd done ss only and not had the break.
Ketosis as I understand it is the mode the body goes into when the calorie intake is severely restricted. The body begins to use its fat store for energy instead of calories. Therefore you don't feel hunger.

Mudwiggle Sun 27-Jan-13 23:17:09

Marking my place until slim n save packs arrive. Did LL a long time ago, but two kids, emigrating, then coming back to UK, blah, blah, blah - anyway 4 stone to lose which is very daunting on any other diet, but with VLCD's should be less than six months! Woo-hoo.

If I end up doing really well (fingers crossed) I may go the whole hog and aim for 5 stone as well, always good to have a bit of wriggle room - which is ironic cos I have no wriggle room whatsoever in any of my clothes ATM....

I thought I would never do a VLCD again, but was speaking to my son's TA at a Xmas party and she showed me a photo of her a year ago. Wow! I've only known her since Sept but assumed she was always a naturally skinny groomed lady. I see her twice a day 5 days a week so am hoping to use her as my daily motivation, along with this thread obviously.

Well done to those of you dropping the pounds - this is a very inspiring thread.

clpsmum Mon 28-Jan-13 17:57:57

Heeeelp! I've cheated! I've had a really bad day today and eaten loads of junk really, don't know what came over me. Gonna be strict for the rest if the week but worried that ill have put on when it comes to weigh in on Friday. If I've put on weight I'm not sure ill have the motivation to stick with it. I'm so disappointed with myself

AyeOopMoose Mon 28-Jan-13 19:18:29

Help me too!

I ate last week and haven't been able to get my head back in the right place. I'm ok until about 3-4pm and then I cave in. I'm not even particularly hungry.

Advice? Hand holding? Kick up the (still massive) arse?

namechangecity Mon 28-Jan-13 19:52:55

not form me - fell off after day 3 and finding it v difficult to restart. if you have to cheat eat protein only - turkey steaks, eggs etc. Look at me preaching when I cannot do it myself!

leelteloo Mon 28-Jan-13 20:27:51

This diet is a real struggle and I think you should be proud of your progress. Tomorrow is always another day and you can restart. I doubt you can put weight on from one day falling off the wagon. I did a whole 4 days indulging and boozing and I only put on 2 lbs, which was probably water.
I am now back on ss and feeling ok. I am drinking lots of black decaf coffee with 3 sweeteners; I make one to have straight after my cd shake or soup and I've found that this fills me up and helps with any sweet craving.
Drinking heaps of fizzy water too.
Hope anyone struggling has a better day tomorrow. smile

busyhouseof8 Tue 29-Jan-13 12:38:16

Hello everybody. I know how hard this is, but I also know it is worth it.

I sorted out drinking enough water the last couple of days - I found if I use a 500ml sports lid bottle of water (refilled from tap of course) then somehow it's not so hard to drink a pint of water in one go. Only have to do that 4 times a day and I'm on track. Somehow it seems easier than 8-10 glasses full. Stupid mind games but whatever works!

2nd weigh in today with CDC and another 2.75lbs off, which didn't feel like alot. BUT - CDC had a demonstration pound of fat sitting on her desk and I held it next to my belly and imagined 2.75 of them having come off and suddenly it looked like quite a bit. What a boost!

I now have a good target to aim for - off to run a conference in Turkey at the end of Feb. I'm 13st 4.5lbs now and would love to be 12.5st by then. I look OK at 12.5st - not great but definitely OK. I haven't seen any of the attendees for a year, so would love someone - just someone - to say "have you lost weight, you look great". A girl can dream....

Hope we all have a better day today. smile

ThePippy Wed 30-Jan-13 15:03:50

Don't give up those who are struggling! The thing with these VLCD diets I have found is that the longer you do them the easier they get, but in the early days/weeks you really need to just take it 1 day at a time. Once you have a few days under your belt you can see the end of the first week, once a few weeks are done the results start to really kick in (on the scales, in your clothes, in the mirror, in the way you feel) and then motivation gets easier to find. So please just grit your teeth and get a few solid days in a row and I know you will start to feel better.

leelteloo Wed 30-Jan-13 16:26:01

That's so true Thepippy! My skirt nearly fell down in asda yesterday. I will need to get my size 10 stuff out of the loft and get three years of dust off them! Stick with it everyone, once your fully in ketosis, you don't feel hunger. It is dull though.
I am 7lbs off my target weight and I'm going on the 5:2 from tomorrow. So good luck to everyone and maybe I'll catch up with you on the 5:2 thread later on. Thank you for the motivation, has made a real difference to me knowing we have all been going through it together. smile

ThePippy Thu 31-Jan-13 09:47:00

Third weigh in last night and lost another 6lbs. I am totally thrilled especially as I got through last week having an awful cold and a baby waking me up all hours of the night with a cold too. I have lost 21lbs now which is 1.5 stone in just 3 weeks. I love this diet!!

All gone very quiet on this thread!! Hope everyone is hanging in there!

I am STARVING today. Not sure why, but I am thinking about food a lot. I have started watching cooking programmes so I can drool over the food. Sick I know, but I can't help myself.

I'm still here - sticking in for the long haul. smile

AyeOopMoose Fri 01-Feb-13 14:09:06

Well done leelteloo. I plan on doing 5:2 when I get to my target.

Pippy amazing! I think we started about the same time but I've had a couple of wobbly weeks. It's really good to see your weight loss for my motivation- I don't want to leave restarting a few weeks and see that you've lost loads more and think that could've been me as well. It WILL be me as well grin

Restarted 100% today. Fortunately I can still remember how good I felt in that 1st week once I'd gone into ketosis.

Dreaded weighing today as I thought I'd put most of what I'd lost back on. Not as bad as I thought, put 4lbs on so that can be off in a few days. Aiming to tidy up that 12lbs this week to a round 17st (no pun intended!).

Well done for getting back on track AyeOop, you were my diet twin (in terms of amount to loose) so pleased you are still in the game. We WILL get to goal, and it won't take that long on this plan.

I have extra motivation now as my niece just got engaged, so a family wedding is on the cards and I WON'T be the fat aunt on the photos!

busyhouseof8 Mon 04-Feb-13 12:26:27

Oh dear. Yesterday was not good for someone supposedly on sole source.

Took kids to McDonalds for a treat and I had a grilled chicken salad with a bit of balsamic dressing - ok I think as it's only about 150 cals.

Then...cooked a leg of lamb in the evening and had meat with some broccoli. I love lamb and just couldn't resist even though I knew I had already screwed up at lunchtime.

What do you reckon - am I doomed??

CDCKirsty Mon 04-Feb-13 15:00:34

Im a cambridge weight plan consultant based in Merseyside, just wanted to offer my support to anyone that may find it useful.

Best of luck!!

AyeOopMoose Mon 04-Feb-13 19:23:16

Thanks Kirsty-it's nice to know there are people rooting for us!

busy how've you been today? I find it really hard if I eat something to get back on it the same day. Don't buy lamb in the future wink

Pippy as an only child, it's nice to have a twin! V exciting about your niece's wedding. Think what a pleasure it'll be shopping for an outfit.

Day 2 (again) has been tough...but I've done it. Yay!

busyhouseof8 Tue 05-Feb-13 13:33:24

Hi AOM. Lamb definitely off the menu for the foreseeable. It is my kryptonite.

Back on the diet yesterday and today which feels better. But think I've only lost a couple of pounds again this week. Is this all worth it - can't I just lose a couple of pounds a week by eating less normal food?

AyeOopMoose Tue 05-Feb-13 15:36:15

Busy- well done for getting back on. What I found before with VLCD is that one, maybe even two weeks I'd have a "low" loss (2lbs is still 2lbs) but then the next week I'd drop a big amount.

Also, I'm no scientist here, but when you eat after being on a VLCD your replenish your glycogen which is about 5lbs, so that may be some of it too.

Keep going grin

busyhouseof8 Tue 05-Feb-13 19:25:14

AOM - thank you for giving me a boost.

We shall see what the weigh in brings tomorrow...

busyhouseof8 Wed 06-Feb-13 12:32:27

OK. So by my scales I'd lost 3lbs this week, but by CDC's it was 5lbs!

Either way I suppose it's not too bad and I did get to stare at her 1lb blob of replica fat on her desk and imagine at least 3 of those coming off me. Always good for a boost.

AOM - thanks for keeping me going the last couple of days. How are you?

Busy, that's great news. Just think even if it is the 3lbs and you do that again next week, that's almost half a stone in 2 weeks and if it's the 5lbs well.....grin

I'm good, had a slight wobble with the DDs fish finger left overs tonight but threw them in the bin before my fingers could stray.

In my view, meal replacements are the easiest or hardest diet, depending on where your head is. Fortunately at the moment I'm in a positive place. Feeling focused, in control and happy.

I think with everyday that passes my resolve to do this grows. I feel like one of those people in the weather houses, where as one goes in the other moves out. Fat me is slowly going and slim me is coming out thinks maybe the lack of food and toddler and baby have made me a bit confused today

Knowing you are all here and plodding on really helps too. Don't want to be left behind!

ThePippy Thu 07-Feb-13 09:11:10

Morning all. Well done to those who have got back on track. Had a bit of a blip myself yesterday. No idea where it came from (other than maybe time of the month and struggling with hunger all week, plus my scales at home not moving all week) but I ended up eating some ham initially (thinking this would have minimal impact) but that then led to me going all out and shovelling a couple of chocolate bars down!! Stupid too as I had my weigh in last night so what a crazy day to cheat!! Anyway luckily I still lost 2lbs taking me down to 15st 12lb now. Feeling more motivated today again so fingers crossed I can stick to it.

Hello everyone!

I went away for the weekend and thought, well if I can't manage this, I'll just eat something but...I didn't. Really pleased with myself that I stayed focused.

Had a quick weigh today and I'm down to 17.4. It's a slog, it's boring but it's worth it.

Hello all. Glad everyone's still here.

This week has been OK apart from eating (lots of) the chicken out of the chicken casserole I made on Saturday night.

I'm working at this conference at the end of the month and all the clothes I tried on out the wardrobe fitted but would look so much better if I was half a stone smaller! So why did I eat on Saturday???? So stupid. blush

Good news is that I bumped into someone I hadn't seen for a while in Sainsburys today and she said I looked like I had lost weight. Hooray!

busyhouseof8 Wed 13-Feb-13 12:02:21

Where is everyone? Are you all OK?

So I woke up at 4.00 this morning with the most unbelievable stomach cramps. Let's just say whatever bug I have means I'm no longer constipated....every cloud!

Was supposed to see CDC for weigh in this morning but have put it off till Friday. Husband has banned me from leaving the house and actually took the children to school before going to work. However, I still need to sort out Valentines card so I'm going to brave it. Immodium seems to have settled everything down, but what with that and CD I may not go again for a month!

Let us know how you are getting on. x

AyeOopMoose Wed 13-Feb-13 12:26:02

I'm still here!

Had to laugh busy, I know in the past when I've done VLCD I've prayed for a stomach bug! This time doesn't seem so bad though, but I am drinking loads of water. Don't risk going out-that's what online card sites are for!

I'm still doing OK. V grumpy at lack of pancakes yesterday but I consoled myself with the fact there will be other pancake days and I can be wearing a size 12 then!

My official weigh in is Fri too, so will post again then.

Keep going everyone, it will be worth it grin

AyeOopMoose Fri 15-Feb-13 09:25:07

Yaaayyyyy!!!

16.13st that's 26lbs in 3 weeks actually 100% on S&S.

Next target is 16st, that will take my BMI from morbidly obese to just plain old obese wink

Busy, how's your weigh in gone?

Anyone else still here?

busyhouseof8 Fri 15-Feb-13 11:44:42

Hi AOM.

Weighed in today and 12.8st on her scales (12.6st by mine). By her reckoning I lost 6lbs last week. Amazing what not eating does.

So that's 30lbs since 7th Jan. Not bad at all.

This time last year I was actually 16.7st so I am 4 stone lighter than then. Hooray - well on target to be 12.7st by the time I go to the Conference in Istanbul on 27th Feb.

I'll update our current weights on the list.

I haven't disappeared, or stopped, just been low carbing for a few weeks as my CDC guy was on holiday and im really struggling with slim and save - the taste has got me a little. Now off with a chest infection so had a few sugary drinks to keep me going a bit as have been really quite poorly.

anyway, i don't think i've done any damage, i think I've lost a few extra pounds. I need to check MFP to see what my ast weigh in was.

now going to loo through the thread. hope everyone else is still going strong

AyeOopMoose Fri 22-Feb-13 14:33:44

I've just eaten a sausage. And a twix. FFS.

Am very cross with myself.

I am tired and DH has upset me for a variety of reasons. No excuses but I am such and emotional eater.

I'm posting this to draw a line under it.

Back on 100% as of now.

AyeOopMoose Wed 27-Feb-13 15:02:55

Is anyone still here?

I'm really struggling. I've eaten a couple of times and am desperate to get back on track. I need some motivation and to know that there are others still at it!

Purplehearts Sat 02-Mar-13 22:01:14

Hi, I would like to join, started Cambridge yesterday so have just completed day 2, felt ok today after having an awful headache and dizziness yesterday! I know the next 2 days are probably going to be very tough!

I have around 4 stone to lose, had dc3 6 months ago and am now the heaviest I have ever been, I feel like this is my last chance, have tried and failed to lose weight so many times since dc1 and hope this will work for me!! Good to read about everyone else's successes
