I'd love to lose a stone...

Classic case: been dieting for 10 years on and off, have a hubby who is probably a little underweight, have a 8mth old who needs stuff to be mashed, and I'd love to lose a stone. Saw a picture of me at a wedding yesterday, after I'd lost my pregnancy weight (only put on 6lb), and I nearly cried, looked massive.

I'm 25, a size 12-14, 5 7, and 11 st 8lb so a little chubby. I work 3 days a week and work in retail gardening so run around a bit and do lots of lifting.

I'd like to know if there's anyone who's managed to lose that last bit and if there's any tips?

Thank you

Bazinga12 Mon 31-Dec-12 14:07:04

I'm pretty much exactly same height/weight as you and looking to do the same.

I managed to get down to 10st from 11st 7lb in about 3 months just over a year ago. I did it through eating healthily and exercising loads (yawn). Now have a 4 month old and back to 11st 7lb.

I'm in if you are.

daisydee43 Mon 31-Dec-12 14:30:49

Ok sounds like a challenge lol

So...
When to start?
What's goal weight?
Deadline for loss?

Could do weekly weigh in and write anything that could help ie meal ideas, exercises, how to beat cravings?

DancingInTheMoonlight Mon 31-Dec-12 16:51:07

Can i join? I recently lost 4 stones but have put one on in the month of December :-( . Id like to lose it again so i can fit in my clothes! I'm about the same height and weight as both of you (i plan to weigh in first thing tomorrow). I think my strategy will be trying to keep under 1200 cals a day and having a dry January :-\. I want to be slim by my 30th at the end of Feb....

MOSagain Mon 31-Dec-12 17:20:19

I need to lose 2 - 2 1/2 stone sad so, starting again tomorrow!

Bazinga12 Mon 31-Dec-12 17:57:10

1200 calories a day sounds pretty ruthless, but I think that sounds about doable. I was originally hoping to lose a stone by Valentines day, but I think end of Feb sounds a bit more realistic.

I'm currently checking the calorie content as I eat my way through the junk food in the cupboard. I working on the basis that if I eat it tonight it will be less tempting when I start the diet tomorrow.

Weigh in tomorrow then? (smile)

DancingInTheMoonlight Mon 31-Dec-12 18:02:25

I dint think it will be too bad. Alpen porridge (breakfast) is about 150 cal, ww meals between 300 and 400, bananas about 100, yoghurts about 100, 1/2 tin baked beans 200 etc etc. if i have no alcohol then i have more cals to play with :-)

outtolunchagain Mon 31-Dec-12 18:40:21

I also need to lose a couple of stone , have joined threads in past but never manage to keep up. This year will be the one

daisydee43 Mon 31-Dec-12 19:03:20

Ok so here it is, we will weigh in 2moz and the goal is to lose the stone by end of feb so that's aprox just under 2lb week we have to lose... Ps I think dry wine is only 100 cal and yes ww meals are great!!! Xx

See u 2moz grin

daisydee43 Mon 31-Dec-12 19:23:50

Dancinginthemoonlight- of course you can join, welcome along smile

Bazinga12 Mon 31-Dec-12 19:30:25

Well I'd best finish off this Baileys then, can't have it going to waste.

Happy New Year

DancingInTheMoonlight Mon 31-Dec-12 19:46:24

Dry January to help my liver recover after a heavy Christmas... Apparently wine is 147cal for a small glass... (so will be introducing that in Feb :-)). Google is going to be my calorie counting friend..

Matildaduck Mon 31-Dec-12 19:51:34

Can i join, i have a stone to loose to take me back to the good old days pre children.

Will weigh in tomorrow.

Also going for a dry Jan, also need to cut down portions and snacking.

Bazinga12 Tue 01-Jan-13 09:41:07

Ok so the results are in. I'm officially 11st 7lb. A whole 1st 7lb heavier than this time last year. Yikes!

jammin Tue 01-Jan-13 09:45:34

I'm in, I need to lose a stone too. I did it a couple of years ago by eating 500 calories/day less than I normally eat. For me that meant dropping down from ~2200-2300 blush to 1800. Didn't do any exercise either. I had tried 1200 calories/day with exercise 3 times per week previously, and it didn't work as well as 1800/day with no exercise!

AoifesmummyJo Tue 01-Jan-13 09:52:47

I have lost 2 stone since September & hubby has lost 3 using the My Fitness Pal app. It's free and very easy to use. It's basically calorie counting without the hassle as they have a huge database of food and you can barcode scan stuff too. Still hoping to lose a bit more by doing a bit of exercise as it's all been dieting so far!

I've just lost umm nearly three stone with WW. The last half a stone over christmas. It's easy. Of course in my case I'm spending upwards of six hours a week running around a stage (ie exercise helps a lot). Just do a little more moving and more drinking at mealtimes (water).

And assume it's inevitable that it will happen. It will. smile

Happy New Year.

fatcuntroller Tue 01-Jan-13 10:01:26

Marking my place for when motivation starts at the weekend...too much yummy food and booze left to be starting today!

I had lost 1.5 stone. Too scared to get on the scales following the xmas binge-fest!

sassytheFIRST Tue 01-Jan-13 10:03:57

I'm the same height and weight as you, op, tho frighteningly top heavy. I'd like to lose about a stone - to be under 11st would do for starters.

Going to use my gym membership properly, play more tennis when the weather allows and also eat a lower carb, more fruit and water-filled diet.

fiddlemethis Tue 01-Jan-13 10:13:13

Can I join, I have totally binged this xmas knowing that a healthy eating and exercise regime was coming which means I've eaten food that I didnt particularly want to eat. I'm going to finish off the booze today and start tomorrow. I'm going to join the gym too, I find if I exercise then I don't want the junk and booze half as much. Will weigh in tomorrow, eek.

DancingInTheMoonlight Tue 01-Jan-13 10:25:35

I've weighed in at 11st 7. A stone heavier than id like :-(. Started the day well tho. I also have my fitness pal but not sure how to use it!

summerglory Tue 01-Jan-13 10:26:24

Hello
Please can I join this thread. I'm 5ft 8 & weigh 12.6, have just had a baby (6 wks old) but would love to get down to 10st - haven't been that weight for yrs. Pre pregnancy I was 11st, snacking is my vice. I lost 1st in the first week after he was born AND I'm breastfeeding but half a stone seems to have creeped on! hmm

DancingInTheMoonlight Tue 01-Jan-13 10:33:17

If you are anything like me summer the excess weight will be lattes, cake and other convenient fatty and sugary things in between feeds to to get a quick fix in terms of hunger and blood sugar. I lost 4 stone when my ds was young and still bf doing ww (basically cutting out processed food). It comes off quickly when you get going!

daisydee43 Tue 01-Jan-13 10:33:54

Hi welcome to everyone! Happy new year is in and so is my weight, I am a lovely 11 stone 8lbs have just made a bacon roll for hubby and am using fitness pal app on myself. Look forward to hearing everyone else's weigh ins and tips

Good lucksmile

anteena Tue 01-Jan-13 10:44:05

i'm a large lady, getting an underactive thyroid after my second child. I sort of went on a denial as i resented putting on all the weight and not through the good way of over eating. I have finally seen sense and need to lose 10 stone this year

Sweepsgirl Tue 01-Jan-13 10:44:27

I'm going to join u guys too... I am trialing a natural detox and weight loss system which guarantees 7-12lb weight loss in the 1st 9 days!I'm planning on starting in the next few days and i am really excited as heard great things!! I will update regularly on here as to my progress! Good luck everyone and happy 2013!!!

OOh can I join? I am 5'5" and weigh 12.7 stone. V annoying as just before Christmas I weighed 12.3 but I decided not to make an issue over calorie counting during the festive period! I would like to lose another 2.5 stone

I have lost 3 stone over the last 3 years (but also had a baby in that time) by calorie counting (I aim for 1500-1800 p/d) and I go to the gym/run 2-3 times a week. My method is to try and eat as much as possible for as few calories as possible grin My DH has also lost a similar amount of weight with no real exercise (other than 10 walk to work each day x2) and he eats the same crap/junk food just less of it (1800-2000 p/d).

The best thing for me has been to move away from ready meals to home cooked stuff as I can eat more for the same amount of calories and we have cut out having chunks of bread and cheese grated on every meal.

daisydee43 Tue 01-Jan-13 10:47:28

Dancing- with fitness pal you press HOME at the bottom and then ADD TO DIARY where you can press the barcode looking button and scan the item or search for the food. I mostly scan. Then press PROGRESS button to see your chart. It should prompt you to enter your weight once a day but you don't have to do it that often.

daisydee43 Tue 01-Jan-13 10:51:15

Anteena- yes that's what happened to me after pregnancy but was put on medication straight away, turns out I think it's too strong now but I will have to have more tests. It definitely makes losing weight more difficult but I've know people over come it

thebluenailbrush Tue 01-Jan-13 11:11:58

Hi,
i'd like to join. i want to lose around a stone- defo no more and need to tone up.

I'm hoping that eating smaller portions, cutting back on so much fat i.e the bad habit i've got into of slathering butter on most things and eating less bad snacks- ideally eating no snacks as i truly believe snacking is not needed unless you need some energy pre /post working out.

Also want to start exercising again- run 3 times a week and follow that up with a few upper body exercises.

I'm ok with it being a small weight loss weekly. 1 pound pw would be fine. i find mindful eating very helpful.

I didn't weigh in today and am having celebration meal this evening so will start tomorrow? Mindful eating doesn't mean cutting out every treat so i don't need to worry about the 2 boxes of chocolates still here from Christmas.

count me in as of tomorrow! (we Glaswegians have to have our big steak pie dinner for Ne'erday). I had a gastric bypass 5 yrs ago and went from about 22 stone to 12 st 9lb. After having my 2nd baby in 2010 tho I started to regain and am now at 15st 9lb. Need to take it in hand now before I end up back where I started!

MABS Tue 01-Jan-13 12:45:57

started a very similar thread yesterday! i'm in too

CooEeeEldridge Tue 01-Jan-13 12:55:32

Can I join too please? I did the half stone by Christmas one, and found thinking if the thread really helped me resist temptations! I'm 5'7 and weigh 10st 10, I'd like to get to 10st, or just under. I've put it on in the past year due to joining a new gym with rubbish classes, I've found a new one and an back into attack / combat / pump so I'm hoping that will help.

My problem is sweet stuff though, I just can't resist!! It frustrates me as I KNOW if I could resist the weight would drop off. My meals are generally healthy, it's just chocolate!!!

daisydee43 Tue 01-Jan-13 12:59:43

What is everyone's motivation? Mine is the fact I have to wear shorts at work in the summer sad been getting away with jeans the last few years but it gets so hot. Also, nothing fits me nice, I have bits sticking out

CooEeeEldridge Tue 01-Jan-13 13:14:22

With you on clothes daisy, I have loads of clothes I either don't wear now or do but am conscious they don't look great, a little effort and I'll have pretty much a new wardrobe!

DancingInTheMoonlight Tue 01-Jan-13 13:19:03

My motivation is that I'm 30 at the end of Feb and want to look nice rather than frumpy. I'm back to being in between sizes and all my weight seems to sit on my tummy :-(

I don't actually have anything planned yet but just to feel good and comfortable in my own skin and in any photos would be great

thebluenailbrush Tue 01-Jan-13 13:22:20

Exercise: my main motivation is health- specifically :exercise lowers risk of heart disease and strokes . i'm in my mid 40s now and to stave off a worsening body shape i HAVE to start doing something now .I also want to have a fit old age. I walk a lot but need to start doing than just that.

Weight loss/ changed body shape : ditto what daisy said, clothes are a bit tight, lumps and bumps. Also i have a slightly chubby face, worse in photos- just seen some from Christmas day where i look awful.

I bought some new jeans in the summer that were very tight and i was going to slim into them- no way was i getting a size up, anyway they are still very tight- they do up but are too tight to wear, so I am aiming to get comfortably into them within 3 months.

daisy shorts to work! Poor you!

thebluenailbrush Tue 01-Jan-13 13:25:32

dancing and CooEee am with you both on the clothes thing. Have so many lovely things i no longer wear but for the want of losing a smallish amount of weight.

Also feel frumpy and middle aged- well i am middle aged but there's no need to look frumpy. Getting my Mojo back would be fab.

Bazinga12 Tue 01-Jan-13 13:54:02

My motivation is to try and look nice for my wedding anniversary in March. I was 4 months pregnant when I got married last year (strumpet), so didn't look how I'd envisioned myself in my wedding dress. So thought I'd at least try and look a bit better for our first night out after baby.

Def with you all on the clothes thing. I stupidly threw out all my size 12-14 clothes when I lost weight about a year ago. Can't bring myself to invest in clothes when I don't want to be this weight. As such I'm still wearing maternity clothes and leggings blush

Matildaduck Tue 01-Jan-13 14:04:03

Ok so i'm 9 stone exactly, i'm 5.5" but i have a tiny frame.

I'm lighter than i expected but much less toned than ever before. I'm guessing my loss of muscle is making me lighter.

My ideal is about 8 1/2 stone so maybe not a whole stone to loose but i have a band of mush around my middle which will not be easy to shift.

kiwigirl42 Tue 01-Jan-13 14:20:13

I'd love to join you. Having a hysterectomy sometime in February and would love to lose some weight before then.
I'm going to do alternate day fasting (see the 5:2 threads already going for much better information than I can give). I starting doing it before and found it easier than calorie counting (gave up due to being sick and laziness)

hurryup Tue 01-Jan-13 14:24:12

Can I join to please? Have at least a stone of flab to lose. I'm 41 going on 61

daisydee43 Tue 01-Jan-13 14:31:21

Welcome along! Anymore weigh ins yet?

thebluenailbrush Tue 01-Jan-13 14:35:34

i shall be brave and weigh in tomorrow!

hurryup Tue 01-Jan-13 14:45:18

Will weigh in tomorrow morning. Has anyone tried the 5:2 diet? I have no excuse now as since yesterday Im a sahm and in a week all 8dc will be back at school 9-3 and 3 horses to exercise each day and dogs to walk. My problem is food and drink. I need to cut out snacking, worst is around 4-8pm, also too much caffeine and alcohol.

MOSagain Tue 01-Jan-13 15:50:33

8 DC? dear god! No wonder you drink wink
Weighed myself this morning and then went for a 6 mile walk to try to get me off to a good start. I'm hoping to lose 2 stone before I go on a charity trek in May. I know I've taken on far too much and it will be a HUGE challenge but I'm going to focus on the fact that it is for charity and hope that will make me stick to my diet.

Another incentive is that DH has just booked a holiday to Egypt in 6 weeks shock Am hoping I can lose a stone by then so I don't look too much like Shamu by the swimming pool

outtolunchagain Tue 01-Jan-13 15:51:59

Have weighed today at 12 st 1.5 lbs ,am going to use mfp , used it last year quite successfully, just got to stick with it .If anyone wants s friend on there I am mrswoodentop

daisydee43 Tue 01-Jan-13 16:01:48

Great to hear everyone has made a positive start. I have been weighing/measuring to get the right portion size on fitness pal otherwise I feel you can go over by a lot. Measured out 100ml milk for cereal this morning and was shocked to see how little I got but that's what I'm going to continue with!

mrsbjunior Tue 01-Jan-13 16:12:47

Hi all - could I join you happy motivated bunch. 5ft 7inches and 12stone 2lbs. Got down to 12 2 before Xmas. Am going to start the 5:2 diet tomorrow - DH and I have choccies and wine to finish tonight!
Dry January from tomorrow as well.
Will probably use Wednesday as my weigh in day

Going on holiday in Feb and would love to lose as much as possible before then

Good luck

MOSagain Tue 01-Jan-13 16:41:38

blush 12.10

mrsbjunior Tue 01-Jan-13 17:26:58

opps - realised that I have managed to already lose 10lbs by bad typing!! I'm actually 12st 12lbs blush Would like to get back to the stage where people were asking if I'd lost weight - that's always a good feeling

MrsPear Tue 01-Jan-13 17:41:02

Hi can i join too? Had DS 2 9 weeks ago (he was 9 weeks early and i have no excuse for the amount of weight i gained blush ) - the good news is that i now have a normal bmi. The bad news is that it is 24.5 and before baby it was 21. So i am 10st 11 and want to be 9st 4. Gulp. No more biscuits, no more crisps, no more crap for lunch, no more snacking. More water and less tea. When DS 1 is back at pre -school i am going to dust off the exercise DVD and do that, no excuses. The size of my arse /thighs/stomach is just horrible. I look so wide and deep! sad

daisydee43 Tue 01-Jan-13 17:43:55

Welcome mrspear, don't panic were all going to get there!!

MOSagain Tue 01-Jan-13 18:18:42

congratulations on your new baby MrsPear, must have been rather frightening having him that early and I hope all is ok now?

Have you looked into something like buggy boot camp in your area? I joined one a few years ago when DS (now nearly 4) was tiny and it was great. A group of mums wishing prams around and exercising. You could make new 'baby' friends and lose weight.

pleasethanks Tue 01-Jan-13 19:24:28

I'm in. Am currently a stone heavier than I want to be (10 stone 12 pounds). Although I am 5ft 6, I don't carry this weight well and am bursting out of some size 14s at the moment. Just feel minging and want to take better care of myself again.

Have found weightloss resource website really helpful for tracking calories in the past, so might try that again.

daisydee43 Wed 02-Jan-13 08:12:07

Good luck for everyone starting today, I have a great day yesterday stuck to my 1200 cals and have been drinking lots water. Back to work today so I have set breaks to eat in so won't be grazing but I have to do lots manual work so see what my energy levels are like later ...

How's everyone else doing? smile

DancingInTheMoonlight Wed 02-Jan-13 08:16:03

Doing well. Stuck to 1200 cals yesterday. First day at work today but brought my lunch :-)

sassytheFIRST Wed 02-Jan-13 09:10:09

Starting today. Taking kids to theatre this pm so eating out - will just have eggs and toast mid-morning to compensate. And lots of housework to burn off some cals.

Bazinga12 Wed 02-Jan-13 09:11:12

Yup managed 1200 cals as well. Not feeling too hungry yet either.

Just wondering how anyone else copes with family meals? Do you make yourself something totally different, like a ww ready meal or just have a smaller portion or what everyone else is having?

MABS Wed 02-Jan-13 10:02:43

dreadful yesterdya, off to gym later and will be good with food.

daisydee43 Wed 02-Jan-13 11:03:11

Bazinga- I had a Chinese bag meal from morrisons yesterday which sounds terrible for diet but its all we had in so I read the calories and found I could have 1/4 of the meal for 400 cals and gave dh the other 3/4. I tend to do dd her own meal as she's still on babish mashed food. 2 nights a week I normally have a ready meal on own and then go out and sometimes dh doesn't want dinner if he's stressed so I will keep a store of frozen ww meals ready

happybubblebrain Wed 02-Jan-13 11:15:56

Happy New Year.

I would like to drop two dress sizes. I'm a size 12, although some size 12 trousers are a bit tight, I was a size 8 before having a child 6 years ago. I think I look best at this size. Right now I look chubby with a big belly. I never weigh myself, just take weekly measurements. In the last 6 years I've tried low-carbing, but I didn't loose anything. I've also tried being vegan, again I didn't loose any weight. So now I'm trying to just eat healthy and no more than 1400 calories a day. I might also throw in some really low cal days. I'm vegetarian. I already exercise quite a bit. I'm 40 and have a slow metabolism so I think it might take me the whole year to loose it. Yesterday was day 1 - and it was fine, I wasn't starving. I usually find the first 3 days of a diet the hardest.

Good luck to all of you.

morning all. weighed in at 15st 8.5lb this morning so aiming for 3st to get me back to my pre-Molly weight. I won't be counting cals or anything, just trying to eat more sensibly. I have the advantage of the bypass element of my surgery which means that I don't absorb all the calories (particularly from fat and protein) that I eat so I should, in theory, find it easier to lose than I ever did in my pre-op days. The week I got my +ive pos I had just got into my first pair of size 14 jeans, having previously been a size 32, and now I'm squeezing into size 20s. DH will be working away mon-fri from next week so will be able to just sort out kids and myself foodwise which should help as dh lives on high cal junk most of time. good luck everyone xxx

PseudoBadger Wed 02-Jan-13 12:12:21

Hello - can I join you?

I'm carrying an extra stone after gaining early pregnancy weight then having a miscarriage, then christmas/comfort eating sad

I have weddings to go to from March so am aiming to lose at least a stone in two months. I'm doing WW as have had great success before.

Good luck everyone!

thebluenailbrush Wed 02-Jan-13 13:01:53

pseudo so sorry about your MC. I had one early last year and gained weight in exactly same way you describe. I lost that additional weight by the summer but was always a stone heavier than i liked so i'm trying to lose that now.
Age wise my pregnancy this time was always risky . Good luck to you.

PseudoBadger Wed 02-Jan-13 13:08:52

Thank you Thebluenail smile

daisydee43 Wed 02-Jan-13 14:40:27

Mosagain- thanks for the idea, have signed myself up to a local buggy fitness group starting next thurs so looking forward to that, suits me better than an evening fitness class as I'm out quite a few eves a week anyway.

MABS Wed 02-Jan-13 16:48:49

did half hour run, nearly killed me, had to though coz weighed myself at heaviest ever sad 5ft 8 and 11 stone. am horrified

daisydee43 Wed 02-Jan-13 17:07:22

Been very tired today as dd was up all night teething but still stuck with it. Am sitting at work in front of a pile of cake and choc and don't feel tempted, keep it all going!!!

belleshell Wed 02-Jan-13 17:09:40

can i join but not till saturday, im off back to ww.....since getting divorced and then meeting DP i have put 2 stone on nothing fits, and i feel terrible.....

DancingInTheMoonlight Wed 02-Jan-13 18:34:04

Had a good day and don't feel as hungry as yesterday. Splashing out on the posh chilled ww meal for lunch helped! Think i got dehydrated late afternoon as had a crushing headache which went after a big glass of water :-) lesson learned!

daisydee43 Wed 02-Jan-13 19:18:01

Had dinner and still got 235 cals left, dreaming up what I can use them on smile

DancingInTheMoonlight Wed 02-Jan-13 20:05:44

Wine? ;-). I've just had dinner and had loads of veg to fill me up. Think I've about50 cal left so may go over and have a, low fat yoghurt lol. Was under yesterday and got told off by mfp lol

thebluenailbrush Thu 03-Jan-13 08:29:01

i remembered to weigh in. I'm 8.12 so probably gained 2 pounds over Christmas- but don't weigh myself often so not sure.
Anyway my birthday is just under 7 weeks away so my short term goal is to reach 8.5, then another 7 weeks or so to get to 7.12- 8 stone (ish). I'm short BTW!

I don't calorie count, prefer to eat better and drop the snacks and up the exercise. I find the first few days the hardest- especially the initial hunger. Today I guess is day 1 for me.

Well done everyone who has started. Keep it up!

MABS Thu 03-Jan-13 08:41:01

no wine yesterdy, hideous bad headache today sad

PseudoBadger Thu 03-Jan-13 08:41:13

I'm currently 5'2" and 10st 7lb. So aiming for at least 9st 7lb by March.

daisydee43 Thu 03-Jan-13 09:42:01

Had a lovely steak last night with just a green salad but have realised I did not add the oil I cooked it in so added it to today and has set me back 62 cals! Going to invest in that spray oil today

sassytheFIRST Thu 03-Jan-13 09:45:57

MABS - me too! Ironic that I haven't had a hangover the whole Xmas period but do having not drunk!

(May be more dependent than I realise...)

mrsbjunior Thu 03-Jan-13 10:15:32

Doing my first fasting day of the 5:2 programme and already craving bacon sandwiches. Randomly quite enjoying my hot water with lemon rather than tea though.

Daisy -spray oil is great although you need quite a few sprays to cook well.

MABS Thu 03-Jan-13 11:11:40

me too Sassy....

daisydee43 Thu 03-Jan-13 13:40:24

Mrsb- I'm sure ken hom off the telly fries in water? Going to try grilling instead

daisydee43 Thu 03-Jan-13 18:21:22

Does anyone get heartburn when they start to cut down on food? I always do and am feeling it now, I guess gaviscon has calories in

DancingInTheMoonlight Thu 03-Jan-13 19:22:20

Not yet daisy but i had a terrible nights sleep last night :-(. Everything had calories according to my phone :-(

daisydee43 Thu 03-Jan-13 20:29:00

Just watching hairy dieters, apparently there's calories in black pepper, 5 per tsp! But salt doesn't
Had another good day, stuck to the calories, dinner was in edible (thanks morrisons) so had ww meal instead,

How's everyone getting on?

Bazinga12 Thu 03-Jan-13 21:21:19

Good work Daisy!

I'm 55 calories over my limit today. Taking the Christmas tree down and it seemed a shame to throw away the leftover chocolate decorations. Currently ganging head in shame.

sassytheFIRST Fri 04-Jan-13 09:10:07

2lbs off this morning so 11st 6. Mostly water I know, but feels goooood.

MABS Fri 04-Jan-13 09:13:01

well done Sassy, daren't weigh myself! bad day yesterday and out to dinner today and tomorrow so know i will be bad sad not driving either. will really try from Sunday. crap i know...

sassytheFIRST Fri 04-Jan-13 09:22:00

To be fair, MABs, I prob weigh substantially more than you to start with! Are you still off the booze? I am - and feel crap again. Hoping to feel better tomorrow. Going to the rugby tonight so will drink coffee rather than beer (warming, if nothing else)

CooEeeEldridge Fri 04-Jan-13 09:38:58

Well done sassy! And Bazinga, you had choc decorations actually left on your tree?! That is an achievement! smile

I'm generally under my calorie limit but it's all bad stuff!! Had 3 biscuits already today, I need an app that highlights all the fat I'm eating really... Ah well!

MABS Fri 04-Jan-13 10:19:57

Sassy, you don't weigh that much more i assure you! did have two glasses wine last night i ashamed to say, no excusesjust no will power. You are all doing so well! WELL DONE

MOSagain Fri 04-Jan-13 10:36:20

Arse! have been really good since NYD and have done lots of exercise and this morning was 2lb heavier! WTF?

MABS since when do you need to lose weight? shock unless of course you overindulged on your exotic christmas holiday? wink

Wommer Fri 04-Jan-13 11:39:45

Am gonna jump in here too if that's ok. Got 1.5st of baby weight to lose by may - 30th birthday and neeeeed to fit into the rest of my clothes by then!

MOS - could be your period coming? I always have major water retention then.

Wommer Fri 04-Jan-13 11:40:11

How often are people weighing in btw?

DancingInTheMoonlight Fri 04-Jan-13 12:41:30

Hi all! Ds just off for a nap so have time to check in :-). I'm doing well so far. On or under 1200 cals but feeling full, eating healthily with one treat per day. I'm good at the beginning but i find eating out/meeting friends for coffee difficult... Using mfp is a and has highlighted deficiencies in my diet so an eating better and taking multivitamins..

MABS Fri 04-Jan-13 14:52:55

Mos - am 11 stone! was 9 and half a year ago!!

MOSagain Fri 04-Jan-13 15:31:04

<mos wishes she was 11 stone!>

daisydee43 Fri 04-Jan-13 16:00:19

Wommer- I think I will be doing a weekly weigh in as daily results can be misleading

Coo- the mfp app does show how much fat etc is in the food you eat. At the top it says SUMMARY, DAILY, WEEKLY- press DAILY to get nutrition info

Getting on really well, don't get time to eat breakfast which is prob bad but I can enjoy a nice lunch. Am absolutely addicted to WW products, have stocked up on goodies. Been cooking the same family meals but instead of having veg/pots etc on the side, I've been having a plain green salad so have found that very easy

WELL DONE EVERYONE - KEEP IT GOING!!!

daisydee43 Fri 04-Jan-13 17:41:30

Night 2 of dh and I not talking to eat other, really want to hit the biscuit tin but I am not going to let him spoil what I've done

DancingInTheMoonlight Fri 04-Jan-13 18:28:51

Just ignore him and make yourself a nice tea and treat yourself to a pampering session :-)

Wommer Fri 04-Jan-13 19:02:26

Ah daisy that sucks. Treat yourself in other ways instead - have a nice bath and listen to angry music grin

Good idea with the weekly weigh in instead of daily.

sassytheFIRST Fri 04-Jan-13 20:17:42

Here's my top tip. I'm supposed to be out watching rugby but am at home with dd1 who is ill. While watchung Brave, I have poured myself a wine glass (the vessel is important) of sparkling flavoured water. Feels like wine, tastes ok, stops me feeling deprived.

DancingInTheMoonlight Fri 04-Jan-13 22:30:10

Great idea sassy! I struggle to resist takeaways or eating out... I think i need tolearn how to cook my favourite dishes more healthily but its never the same :-(

belleshell Sat 05-Jan-13 11:54:57

ok here goes weigh in. started a very busy WW group today. im 5ff6 and 12 stone... i havent been that since my daughtewr was born (11years ago!) im 40 in june....i dont want to be fat and 40!
SO HERE GOES

daisydee43 Sat 05-Jan-13 13:04:44

Great to hear it belleshell! How's everyone finding dieting at the weekend? Feeling but more hungry as am at home and food is well within reach...

DancingInTheMoonlight Sat 05-Jan-13 13:23:20

Finding it ok but succumbed to 1/2 a toasted tea cake at soft play (although I've calorie counted it). Dh is trying to lose weight too so that helps and banning alcohol for the first month has made it much easier. I've actually really enjoyed the change of menu/food this week as we tend to eat the same each week...

How did you get on last night with your dh?

daisydee43 Sat 05-Jan-13 13:43:38

Well he eventually gave in, will never let him stop smoking again lol. I actually finished the day with around 200 cals left.

Doneinagain Sat 05-Jan-13 14:07:32

May I join please? Am 5ft 5 and a 1/2 the 1/2 is iimportant and weigh a whopping 12.6lb the worse thing is I think I've lost all sense of my body shape since I had my 2 DD's. it was while looking at some pictures relatives had taken over Christmas that I realised I look big!! How could I not have noticed before? Does anyone else feel like this? So am on day3 of Ww am doing it online and I am hungry/ bored but trying hard not to give in. Couple of questions...what weight do you think I need to reach to look noticeable different as I don't trust my own judgment anymore? I am a size 12/14. Thanks and good luck everyone!!!!

daisydee43 Sat 05-Jan-13 14:49:38

Hi doneinagain!! I think the best way to find out what weight to reach is to look at your bmi which you can easily work out by googling it. It checks your height against your weight and gives a pretty good answer. Personally I just try and remember to when I was slimmer and what shape I looked. Currently am 11.7 but have been as low as 8.10 before and I feel around 10-10.7 is manageable for me and I will be around a size 10-12.

I am also a size 12-14 currently and I also feel I have no shape. As for being hungry/boredom - treat yourself by going shopping for ww products, I went the other day and got some great meals, snacks and desserts, they're mostly on offer and easy to add on your food diary. I haven't been hungry so far, am eating lots green salad, drinking water and soups which all keep me full,
Looking forward to hearing your progress smile

Wommer Sat 05-Jan-13 15:56:21

Hi all,
Just realised I forgot to put my first weigh in up yesterday... Am 14 st and 6ft. At my most skinny since puberty was 11st 12 (the day before poas with DS!). Would love to get down to 12 st 7 before my 30th in may.

Defo know what you mean about suddenly realising you're "big". I look ok(ish) from the front but have realised how far I am front to back! Not good!!

belleshell Sat 05-Jan-13 16:47:01

Hi donein...... today at class they worked out my 10% weightloss goal which is 10.11, my actual goal willbe 10.7 so thats what im aiming for and im a simliar height weight to you. all those doing WW Poundland often sell WW stuff, but becareful cos sometimes its more expensive than supermarkets, morrisons and i think M+S also propoint their diet range but not all the stuff and tesco used to, so its actually better to get them products cos its cheaper...

im going to make soup i think for during working week...to keep points lower. then i can eat similar meals to rest of family just substitute some stuff for more veg..

good luck everyone with this week. and im loving this thrread

princessfifi9 Sat 05-Jan-13 16:58:38

Hi doneinagain.

I am the same height as you and was 11 stone when I weighed myself after Christmas feasting. I have struggled with my weight all my life and have ranged from 8 stone 5lbs to 13 stone. I am going to try and lose a stone as I will look and feel better than I do now.

Perhaps try the same, lose 1 stone then see how you feel.

I am also hungry today but it is my own fault as I have not planned my food properly today as driving DD round to do her hobbies. I usually make a load of WW soup to snack on as it is 0 or low points and low cal plus filling.

As one of my former WW leaders used to say ...nothing tastes as good as slim feels... she obviously hadn't tried Lindor chocolates grin

Doneinagain Sat 05-Jan-13 18:25:22

Thanks for all the responses! To avoid eating out of boredom I left the DD's with DH and took the dog out for a vigorous walk around the park! iPod in headphones on....don't remember the last time I tried to do that!

I will aim to lose a stone.... And then see how I feel. Going on the BMI thing the lowest weight I have ever been was 67kg before I got married and my BMI was still 26. The thing is I was really happy with my weight then and didn't think I needed to lose any more weight but my BMI said otherwise. Does anyone else think the BMI's healthy rate is a little extreme?

Making the Ww soup is a good idea....where can I get the recipe please?

Also as I'm doing Ww online I'm not going to any meetings. Because I walked for 30 minutes today I earned 2 extra pro points but when I entered in on my app it didn't give me any extra points to my daily allowance? Is that normal? Can't wait to keep this up just imagine how well we will all look!!!!

daisydee43 Sat 05-Jan-13 19:29:17

Doneinagain - well done for getting out with the dog that's very inspiring! As for bmi, I tend to go for the middle of the 'normal' range as this best fits me. I am buying ww soups as not brave enough to make them, they start from 51 cals a can!! And they are really satisfying smile

PseudoBadger Sat 05-Jan-13 19:34:35

Doneinagain, they should be showing under Activity Points on the top right (iPhone app?), you only go into them once all your weeklies are gone smile

Doneinagain Sat 05-Jan-13 19:48:09

Thanks pseudo was starting to get desperate....right well I have 31 weekly points to last me until end of Tuesday plus my daily points and five active points!!!! Come on!!!

How much is everyone looking to lose a week? Or is that not how you are calculating it?

PseudoBadger Sat 05-Jan-13 20:02:02

That sounds positively gluttonous rations Doneinagain

PseudoBadger Sat 05-Jan-13 20:02:40

I have -2 points left - new week tomorrow thank god!

Doneinagain Sat 05-Jan-13 20:23:59

Ok just had dinner so only have 25 weekly points left.....it's my first week pseudo don't know how far these weekly points go!!!!

It's my niece's birthday party tomoro help me keep away from birthday cake and the obligatory jam sandwichgrin I'm not picky....

daisydee43 Sat 05-Jan-13 20:35:38

Doneinagain - hoping to lose 2lb week, have lost 1lb so far and weigh in on tues so fingers crossed. Think you will be ok at the party if everything is in small portions, maybe bulk up on wotsits and jelly as they are low cal? Hold back on pastry things and a jam sandwich prob isn't that bad

PseudoBadger Sun 06-Jan-13 08:16:56

Just weighed in - 2.5lbs lost, down to 10st 4. It's probably first week effect, but I'm happy!

Doneinagain Sun 06-Jan-13 09:17:27

Wow pseudo amazing well done!!! I'd be well chuffed with that!!!!! Onwards and upwards!!!!

MABS Sun 06-Jan-13 10:22:15

well done to you all smile i could lie, but dreadful fri sat and will be today coz am going out , fresh start tmrow...

DancingInTheMoonlight Sun 06-Jan-13 11:10:00

Well done pseudo! My weigh in is tomorrow but i couldn't resist and got on the scales this morning and have a 2lb loss :-). Whilst i would have loved the while done to drop off in the first week im happy I'm doing it slowly and sustainably tho I'm still impatient. On the plus side I'm loving the change if foods and am feeling like i have more energy!

daisydee43 Sun 06-Jan-13 13:48:00

Weighing in on tues so hopefully have reached the 2lb mark. Definitely feel more sexy and healthier that I'm not shovelling in a big bag of donuts everyday. Dh is trying to put on weight so he's eating anything that might tempt me so that helps. Have just made myself a lovely pepper stuffed with a little rice and low fat cheese, yum smile

Doneinagain Sun 06-Jan-13 13:52:55

Go on * Daisy* I know you can do it! Managed to avoid any major pitfalls at the birthday party... About 4 Dorito's a quarter of a cheese sandwich and another quarter of a jam sandwich that Dd shoved into my mouth!!! I had no choice honest guv!grin came home very hungry so toasted a whole meal English muffin and poached one egg with spinach..... Who needs Bernaise sauce? It was delicious!

Will now try to avoid clock watching until dinner time..might try out the slow cooker I was given for Xmas! Any good recipes out there?

belleshell Sun 06-Jan-13 15:54:44

have you tried raosted butternut squash soup....its delicious and free ww points. try googling it, if not it is roughly a normal sized butternut squash, 1 red pepper, 1 medium onion. chop into chunks and roast all veg for approx 30 mins 200.c then boil in veg stock cube and ?? 1.5 pts of water. add 1 tsp of curry powder once boiled for 20 mins then blend........ tis lovely honest and really filling..

im at day 2 and no points left today, but did take dog so a walk, and still have all weekly points should i sucumb to the evil rich tea biscuit..

Doneinagain Sun 06-Jan-13 17:56:19

belle that sounds delicious!!!! Thank you will add butternut squash to my shopping list!

Are you going to the WW meetings or doing it online? What's the deal with the weekly points are we meant to have any left over or are we supposed to use them all?

Have just recruited a friend to come and try Zumba with meshock we start on the 23rd so will let you know how that goes!! On Tuesday....which is weigh in day I'm trying out a Pilates class that's meant to focus on abs....maybe wishful thinking but really hoping to tame this mummy belly.

belleshell Sun 06-Jan-13 18:48:01

hi you are meant to use them all, if not you will be under eating and thats not good either....so enjoy your dailies, and if needed use some weeklies...and all those active points u will be 2 stone lighter not a stone.... my meeting is a sat so if i get any more tips i will pass it on.......oh forgot my friend said butternut squash chips are fab too.....bake in oven sprinkled with paprika...free and scrummy.

PseudoBadger Sun 06-Jan-13 18:55:18

Donein - you must use all your dailies but don't have to use your weeklies if you don't want to. You'll still lose if you use weeklies, just not as much. I lost 2lb this week using all my weeklies, but some weeks I won't lose as much by doing that.

Doneinagain Sun 06-Jan-13 19:43:30

Damn those cheeky weeklies and their come to the biscuit tin eyes!!!!

Ok have 21 weekly points left to last me until Tuesday night...will try and leave a few over, you know just to be politewink

Doneinagain Sun 06-Jan-13 19:53:58

daisy are you here?? Just reding back you mentioned all the great WW products I should try. Have seen the Ww desserts but not the ready meals or the soups. For fear of sounding really thick where would I usually find these in the supermarket?

Will have the two DD's with me so if I know where I'm supposed to be looking hopefully it won't take too long!

Doneinagain Sun 06-Jan-13 19:55:34

And thankspseudo and belle feel like I'm armed with all the relevant information now Onwards!!!!!!

DancingInTheMoonlight Sun 06-Jan-13 19:59:23

The best ww meals are in the chilled ready meals section. In our supermarket (asda) its on the same aisle as the fresh pasta :-)

DancingInTheMoonlight Sun 06-Jan-13 20:18:22

Also a tip to help those (like me) with chocolate cravings. Try to by the selection box (snack size) version. A cadburys buttons mini pack is only 75cals and most are under 100cals. Its curbed my hormonal choc fest :-)

Doneinagain Sun 06-Jan-13 20:29:51

Good idea dancing right now I'm allowing myself 3 segments of Terrys chocolate orange ( a Christmas leftover) which is about 4 points....it keeps me going

daisydee43 Sun 06-Jan-13 20:41:44

Doneinagain - I went to morrisons for desserts and yogs in the chilled section where other yogs are. They also do frozen desserts near other frozen desserts. Also got cake slices where other cakes are. Iceland is also good for offers

HomeintheSun Sun 06-Jan-13 21:47:17

Hi I have just joined the My fittness Pal. I am 5ft 3 and weigh 163lb I want to lose 30lbs at about 2lb per week. I have 2 children, we are going to start walking to school and nursery every day instead of taking the car (approx 4 miles per day,for me) so as long as I can stay off the chocolate, drink more water I'll be able to lose it.
I start tomorrow smile

freerangeeggs Sun 06-Jan-13 21:58:17

Can I join in?

I'm not very good at keeping up with threads like this but I have good intentions!! grin

I was 11st 6 before I went on my holidays in July, and since then I've managed to get down to 10st 9.5. All I've done is cut out snacking and tried to eat more healthily/walk more. I also changed contraceptive pill, which I suspect has made a difference (although the downside is I'm basically now just a massive walking spot). I'd like to get down to about 9st 7.

I'm going to continue this way, because it's worked well so far and it's nice not to feel like I'm on a diet. Previously lost 5st with WW (shock) so I know these things work, but I've pointed/counted cals since I was ten years old so this makes a pleasant change.

No vigorous exercise though!! The one week I did loads of exercise I GAINED 2.5 lbs. I think that was water weight but I'm going to leave the exercise until I'm closer to my goal - it seems to complete things. Lots of walking though.

freerangeeggs Sun 06-Jan-13 21:58:37

*complicate, not complete!!

happybubblebrain Mon 07-Jan-13 00:23:02

Day 6 complete for me. I've been eating lots of homemade soup and vegi chilli. I'm finding it easy while I'm off work, but on Tuesday things will get harder as I'm back. I eat because I'm bored and at work there is no getting away from the boredom. Also, I can't eat a proper lunch or breakfast (as I never feel like eating at 6.30am) so I have to eat something at my desk, same again with my lunch. It's much tricker without a fridge, cooker, choice of healthy food etc. I'm going to give it a good go though.

I'm trying to stick to eating 1500 healthy calories for the whole year and I hope to lose about 2 stone in this time, although I don't weigh myself because I find it off-putting when I don't lose anything. I already do lots of exercise.

DancingInTheMoonlight Mon 07-Jan-13 08:13:30

Hi all. Weighed in this morning at 162.4lb so 1.4lb off. (although i forgot to weigh in ore breakfast and coffee as usual). Happy with the loss but hoped for more as previously i have lost alot in the first week. That said, i have always had much more to lose than a stone and i know when i was losing the last stone before it took ages! Today is my day of but first say back at toddler groups with biscuit temptation- wish me luck!

MOSagain Mon 07-Jan-13 09:04:02

sad I seem to have put on 2lbs

MABS Mon 07-Jan-13 10:08:33

it's probably muscle MOS. had a heavy w/e but gonne start again today and will weigh on Wed.

daisydee43 Mon 07-Jan-13 11:15:53

Hi morning all, weighing in 2moz but couldn't resist it this morning and found I have lost 3lb in 6 days! Was really pleased as I have been giving it everything and although I'm still eating what I fancy, I'm making sure its only in small portions to stay under my cal limit, really pleased, don't think I could have done it without all your help/encouragement.

Great to hear everyone else's losses, mos don't get disheartened that you put on weight out bodies are funny things, I'm sure you'll be pleased this week - what diet are you doing?

daisydee43 Mon 07-Jan-13 11:16:58

Welcome to freerange!!

daisydee43 Mon 07-Jan-13 11:19:22

Happy- I tend to take everything made up to work so I know how much I am allowed- like taking tins of soup at the mo which are really low cal, do you find your hungry all day?

happybubblebrain Mon 07-Jan-13 12:01:13

Yes, work involves lots of planning. I find cold food less filling for some reason. I think I confuse boredom with hunger when I'm at work. Being surrounded by people scoffing huge sandwhiches, cakes etc doesn't help either. It's just much harder, and getting up really early doesn't help the day. I find myself eating a big breakfast which means there aren't enough calories for the rest of the day.

I'm going to take soup and crackers and lots of fruit. I jut have to think of something for breakfast which I can eat at my desk which is filling and low-cal. We're not allowed to eat cereal or hot food at our desks.

Well done to all of those who are sticking to their plans.

daisydee43 Mon 07-Jan-13 14:55:01

I'm on my lunch now, bit of a late one. Am having a ww soup in mug (can you have that at desk and pretend its tea?) and packet of Special K crisps smile

belleshell Mon 07-Jan-13 15:18:28

Donein.morrisons have ww meals for half price in chiller section.happy, how about fruit and yoghurt....loads of fruit chopped with a nice yoghurt over top...i have 2 rich tea biscuits...i cant eat at 6.30 either... i do like the yoghurt and fruit mid morning..i also do fruit chuncks in a bag ie apple and grapes... and eat them out of bag, i trick myself into thinking its something like crisps (its NOTHING like crisps!!!!!!!) i have also discovered lychees, they take forever to peel and are messy but by time i get to what im menat to eat the bordem is relieved..

Wommer Mon 07-Jan-13 16:04:14

Daisy that's brilliant! Well done!!
Had a sneaky jump on the scales this morning (weigh in isn't 'tip Friday for me) and had only lost 1/4 of a pound...
However (TMI alert!!!!) I also remembered that I hadn't been to the loo since last Thursday! Guess that would make quite a big difference wouldn't it?
Guess I'll find out tomorrow (as finally had a bm this morning... Oooooh thank god you're all strangers!) when I have another sneaky jump on the scales!

freerangeeggs Mon 07-Jan-13 19:00:34

Thanks daisy dee smile

I had breakfast before work this morning for the first time in ages and it's made a big difference. I made a smoothie with a banana, dollop of low fat yoghurt, four prunes, bit of apple juice and a tsp of honey. It was lovely and really filled me up for the rest of the day.

Lunch was roast potatoes and ratatouille. Dinner was a Thai vegetable curry.

I feel very virtuous and smug :p

DancingInTheMoonlight Mon 07-Jan-13 20:12:41

I'm managing to do well too. Porridge for breakfast, ww meal for lunch and homemade low fat cottage pre for dinner. Got a low call homemade soup in the slow cooker cooking for tomorrow. Treated myself to a biscuit at toddler group and still have spare cals. :-)

(a to for those who love mash like me. Cook a cauliflower at the same time and drain and mash. Then add it to your potatoes when mashing. Reduces cals, makes it less stodgy and a great way of getting more veg onto you and dcs)

Doneinagain Mon 07-Jan-13 21:10:44

Hey good to see everyone is full of high spirits (if not literally!!!) felt like I had a good day too. But most importantly I don't feel so hungry all the time so Im hoping my stomach is shrinkinggrin weigh in tomoro gulp!!

Wommer Mon 07-Jan-13 21:11:43

Does anyone else get excited to weigh themselves the morning after a really "well-behaved" day?
.... Or is that just meblush

GossipWitch Mon 07-Jan-13 21:15:11

Can I join you, I started slimming world before Christmas, I weighed 12st 4lb and have lost 6lb to date, I now weigh 11 1/2 stone and need to lose 1 more stone to get to my target weight, I'm 5'6" and have large boobs so that's why I haven't opted for less than that, slimming world is working for me but would love some more online support smile

DancingInTheMoonlight Mon 07-Jan-13 21:22:39

Hi gossip! Well done on your weight loss so far :-). I'm really impressed at how everyone is doing! I got another motivation today when my dsis called to say she wad visiting for my birthday and has booked us in for a photoshoot with my ds! My dsis is a pretty size 10.... Put all thoughts of wine out of my mind!

HomeintheSun Mon 07-Jan-13 21:26:28

I have had a good day, I have made chocolate chip cookies for the kids and only had 1 myself, after my dinner I cleaned my teeth and am only drinking water now, I find that the evening snacking is one of my biggest downfalls.

Wommer Mon 07-Jan-13 21:26:52

When's the shoot dancing? That would be an amazing motivator for me!

Are you doing a dry January too?

DancingInTheMoonlight Mon 07-Jan-13 21:40:56

Will be end of Feb/beginning if march when she is over. Its a groupon voucher... It is a massive motivation (although turning 30 was one already) esp now there will be photographic evidence of my physical state at 30 ;-)

daisydee43 Tue 08-Jan-13 09:11:10

Wommer- yes love weighing in after a good day it's better than choc! So far don't feel deprived, it's great to have so much support!

So.. What's everyone going to reward themselves with after losing the weight? I got £100 in various clothes shop vouchers for Xmas so gonna go on massive shopping spree - cant wait!

PseudoBadger Tue 08-Jan-13 09:11:56

I hope I'll reward myself by getting pregnant grin

daisydee43 Tue 08-Jan-13 09:12:32

Gossip - I did slimming world a few years back but unfortunately my body doesn't like carbs that much. What plan are you on?

Doneinagain Tue 08-Jan-13 09:49:14

Ok so just did a weigh in and In week one I have lost 3 1/2 lbs!! That feels good obviously can't really feel the difference so am trying to stay up about it and manage my expectations....am really trying to build up my confidence to get out now and go to that abs building Pilates class... Am worried it will be too hard and I will humiliate myselfhmm

Wommer Tue 08-Jan-13 11:44:13

Done in that's brilliant! 1/4 of a stone!!

Don't worry about the class- everyone will be so worried about themselves they won't have time to watch you smile

Wommer Tue 08-Jan-13 18:08:37

Hi kitty
I've tried various things - for me personally low/no carbing works best and is QUICK, but can't do that this time as still BFing Ds (and its bloody expensive!)
I'm doing a combo of cutting out crap and all alcohol filling up on fruit/veggies and portion control.

DancingInTheMoonlight Tue 08-Jan-13 18:21:51

So i want Chinese.... I must resist....but i really want it :-(

daisydee43 Tue 08-Jan-13 18:33:21

Dancing - I had Chinese on sun, had beef in black bean and noodles and wasn't actually that bad when add up the cals. But don't want to be devils advocate lol

GossipWitch Tue 08-Jan-13 19:00:24

daisydee I'm on the easy plan, it fits in to things I generally eat but more careful about fat content and bread and pastries and gravy !!! but I have decided to syn gravy.
kitty you sound like my double !!

GossipWitch Tue 08-Jan-13 19:01:19

Oh and I had a major achievement today, I passed my driving test !!!!!!!!!!

DancingInTheMoonlight Tue 08-Jan-13 19:26:06

Congrats Gossip! Daisy i behaved and had a fish finer sandwich which i have calorie counted :-). Still want Chinese tho lol

freerangeeggs Tue 08-Jan-13 20:02:49

Congrats Gossipwitch!

kitty, I lost 5st on Weightwatchers and loved it. This time I'm just being careful - three sensible meals a day, no snacks.

Today I had:

banana smoothie for breakfast
smoked salmon bagel and a banana for lunch
veg curry with rice for dinner
banana smoothie afterwards

I eat a lot of bananas...

DancingInTheMoonlight Tue 08-Jan-13 21:45:42

i think it was a very wise move on my part having a dry January as i dont think i would be losing any weight otherwise. Nothing quite like tv and a glass of wine on a cozy night in after work :S. Making do with peppermint tea tho and reviewing the 8 days of successful calorie counting tho grin.

Is anyone meal planning or are you just buying in healthy food and making it up? Im trying to come up with exciting healthy options to reduce the chance of me falling off the wagon... Cant say my dinner of stir fry tomorrow is inspiring me tho...

Wommer Tue 08-Jan-13 22:01:36

Dancing - I pretty much am making it up.
DH is sahd and makes dinner every night (not a stealthboast I promise!) I'm having the same but more veggies and less carbs.

Tbh we eat quite healthily anyway - it's all the shite that causes problems for me. That and portion control and stopping eating when I'm full - ie not going and getting a slice of bread and butter out of habit when I really don't need to etc.

daisydee43 Wed 09-Jan-13 11:02:27

Yes same as you wommer - I have normal dinner but small portion with salad or if like last night when I did pie and chips, I had ww ready meal and salad sad

Freerange - mmm salmon bagel! Does it have many cals?

daisydee43 Wed 09-Jan-13 16:06:19

REALLY craving cake! Am substituting it with a ww hot choc sad won't be having my dinner til 8 tonight as going straight from work to my driving lesson, hope I survive until then

Wommer Wed 09-Jan-13 16:43:36

Urgh am with you daisy - it's the 4 o clock crash! Too long since lunch and not within reach of dinner yet!
Have had a cheeky hot choc (not ww) from our machine. Has the consistency and appearance of sugary dishwater though so it's prob not too bad smile

Got rabbit stew for dinner.... Never had it before but the bloke over the road gave DH 3 rabbits on Sunday (useful kinda chap to know grin)

daisydee43 Thu 10-Jan-13 08:56:43

Had a sneaky mid week weigh in and so far lost another 1lb!! Really pleased last week wasn't just beginners luck. Got a few obstacles this weekend tho - sat lunch at beefeater which won't be too bad as can look up menu online and prob have salad. Sun lunch at a friends house won't be as easy to control as no idea what I'll be eating, last time I had chilli which was cooked quite healthily so hopefully just eat small? Argh!

GossipWitch Thu 10-Jan-13 10:21:39

Ok so I had a weigh in yesterday and over the entire xmas period I put on 1lb which is good, considering the amount of chocolate and crap i ate smile

Wommer Thu 10-Jan-13 21:15:19

How's everyone getting on today?
Got my weigh in tomorrow...
Really not sure how it will be tbh just don't feel any thinner yet!

happybubblebrain Thu 10-Jan-13 22:24:11

I made a really yummy Chinese vegetable and tofu curry with sticky rice for dinner, it was delicious. I didn't eat much at all through the day as I was super busy so I treated myself with a delicious dinner and pudding.

It's already the end of day 10, just another 355 days to go, probably. I'm feeling a tiny little bit lighter and my skin looks a bit better. So, all good so far.

daisydee43 Fri 11-Jan-13 07:56:58

Wommer - I got my weigh I'm on tues but have been weighing myself throughout the week and I have already lost my 2lb for the week so very pleased. Have been giving it all tho and no cheating, did buggy fitness yesterday which nearly killed me but feel very determined. Have noticed my stomachs a bit flatter but that's all. So your not feeling that positive atm? How you been getting on?

Wommer Fri 11-Jan-13 09:08:40

Hi daisy,
Have lost 2lb this week which is good but I'm a a bit.... meh.
I guess it's cos the last time I dieted I did a very strict low carb which was super effective. I'm just not used to doing it slow and steady.
Will carry on though - 2lbs a week is a stone in less than 2 months isn't it?! The idea of being a stone lighter by the end of feb is amazous grin

Well done on yours - that's supercool.
Will use this page to remind me to carry on slogging.

daisydee43 Fri 11-Jan-13 14:40:31

Wommer- 2lb is great and you will definitely be a stone lighter by end feb, I think this is the most you should lose a week (I know mfp won't you lose more)

Wommer Fri 11-Jan-13 15:42:46

Thanks Daisy smile I know you're quite right. I'm just really impatient!

assumpta Fri 11-Jan-13 17:34:55

Hi, well done all you ladies. A stone is what I need to lose; well want to lose, I could probably do with a stone and a half, but maybe I am being greedy!

I am doing 1200 calories a day and started on Monday. I have been finding it ok, but I always do the first couple of weeks fairly ok, then lose momentum. Is it ok to save some daily calories for some weekend wine? I have had a good breakfast, only a light lunch, and am doing homemade aubergine curry, chicken tikka, basmati rice, and cucumber raita for dinner, which still leaves me quite a few calories. If I have 2 glasses of 175ml wine, maybe less, each 130cals, will this affect my weight loss, or does it not matter as long as I have enough calories to cover it?

daisydee43 Fri 11-Jan-13 17:41:36

I tend to save enough cals for a glass of wine with dinner. I don't want to get into the habit of saving cals for weekend as I feel I might deprive myself during week

assumpta Fri 11-Jan-13 18:02:09

Yes, I agree if I deprive myself I tend to go overboard with too much of something.

I try to keep calls for a small treat each evening, but no wine during the week. So I would only be holding some cals from today for wine today and cals from tomorrow for wine tomorrow. So do you think that would be ok?

DancingInTheMoonlight Fri 11-Jan-13 18:20:56

Also the minimum recommended intake in a day is 1200 cals i think so if you eat less your body will go into starvation mode and you won't lose weight....its also not very healthy!

daisydee43 Fri 11-Jan-13 19:52:32

So do you not have enough cals at end of weekend days for wine? I believe in ww you can save up cals for treats and that works so I don't see why it'd be a problem

assumpta Sat 12-Jan-13 10:51:32

Hi, I do have enough call, I just don't usually bother with alcohol during the week, then I get that nice Friday feeling, when I am getting our dinner ready. With body going into starvation mode, I don't presume this would happen unless you were not using all your calories for a few days in a row? Would it?

assumpta Sat 12-Jan-13 10:52:33

'cals'

daisydee43 Sat 12-Jan-13 13:55:10

Not sure 100% how the body works with cals, maybe google it?

Just had a hot dog and a few chips at bowling, feel bit guilty but was the healthiest option sad

freerangeeggs Sat 12-Jan-13 18:30:51

Lost a pound this week WOOOOOO

I had a lovely thing during the week: roasted veg (butternut squash, beetroot, courgette) with a lovely sauce I got from M&S. It comes in a little glass pot and says 'very clever' on the label. It has chillies, shallots etc in it and it made my vegetables really delicious - in fact I just had a massive plate of roasted veg for tea on Thursday and nothing else.

daisydee, salmon bagel is probably calorific but I'm too scared to check because our school canteen doesn't have many low-fat options! Besides, I like it... I just have to make sure I'm good otherwise I suppose smile I'm not counting calories. I can't do that forever, so I want to cultivate a proper healthy attitude to food as opposed to the endless dieting I've been doing since I was nine years old.

My new year's resolution was to eat more of the things I like, and fewer shitty snacks and lazy meals. So I had a Thai red curry last night and it was AMAZEBALLS.

Today I've had a banana/special K for breakfast, and a banana for lunch, and a chocolate digestive. Dinner is fish and beans and some sort of veg. Maybe a handful of wotsits.

Hope to lose another pound this week to bring me down to 10st 7.25

Wommer Sun 13-Jan-13 10:34:08

Omg!!! Just had a sneaky hop on the scales and since my disappointing 2lb loss (which if im totally honest was only 1.5lbssad) on Friday have lost another 2.5 lbs!!!

Amazous!! gringringrin

Hope everyone else's weekend is going well smile

On the subject of wine - I find more than the cal input I have a tendency to bloat and retain more water if I drink alot. I'm having a totally dry January to see what effect it really has.

In the long term though everything in moderation I reckon.

daisydee43 Sun 13-Jan-13 21:08:10

Hoping this weekend hasn't let me down - big hot dog at bowling on sat and yummy homemade cottage pie with cheese and all the trimmings followed by apple crumble and custard cooked by friends - both days only had that all day plus light brekkie so fingers crossed smile

DancingInTheMoonlight Mon 14-Jan-13 08:43:43

Total weight loss to date 6.8lbs :-) i love mfp!

daisydee43 Mon 14-Jan-13 11:10:05

Well done dancing that's amazing bet you feel great! Got my weigh in 2moz but total weight loss so far is 6lb which I'm very pleased with. Have gone down 2 holes in jeans belt!!! Ditto love mfp

DancingInTheMoonlight Mon 14-Jan-13 13:02:50

Feel great and am optimising my meals so i dont feel hungry or deprived! Dh looks to have lost weight too! Just need to keep up the motivation now...

specialsubject Mon 14-Jan-13 13:06:29

OP, you are the same height as me and a few pounds lighter. I'm not massive and nor are you. I need to lose maybe those few pounds.

size 12-14 is perfectly normal at our height.

can I suggest getting real? And stop dieting, just eat properly.

DancingInTheMoonlight Mon 14-Jan-13 13:36:27

Surely as an adult that is OP's own choice to make....Everyone has different builds and comfort zones when it comes to feeling healthy and comfortable in their own skin. Height and weight aren't a full representation. As far as i can see noone is eating unhealthily here and whether its called dieting or healthy eating is semantics as if you read the thread most of us are making healthier good choices and reducing calories. If you don't like the threads direction, you don't have to contribute...

daisydee43 Mon 14-Jan-13 14:21:30

Yes special subject, this thread is for people who are looking to loose a stone or perhaps a little more. Personally I'm a 12-14 and feel better being a 10-12. Everyone is doing really well and feeling better so I would appreciate it if you don't spoil everyone's hard work, thank you

Wommer Mon 14-Jan-13 22:03:43

^^ what daisy and dancing said!

This isn't and "AIBU to think I need to lose weight?" - it's a support thread for those of us who feel better slimmer... So YABU for criticising!

daisydee43 Tue 15-Jan-13 07:37:49

Official weigh in today have lost 4lb this week!!! Don't know how, did the same as last week but with a few treats at wknd. This takes my total weight loss so far to HALF A STONE!! Very pleased, couldn't have done it without all your support smile

Wommer Tue 15-Jan-13 09:07:16

Daisy that's brilliant! Half way there and only 2w into January!

Looking forward to my weigh in on Friday now. smile

Wommer Tue 15-Jan-13 14:40:04

Am going to try and not weigh myself until Friday morning.
Have got into the habit of jumping on the scales every morning which sort of makes a weekly thing a bit pointless.
Also can be disheartening with the day to day fluctuations.

How's everybody'a day going?

daisydee43 Tue 15-Jan-13 18:06:23

Yes I kno it's a bad habit to get into. Days going well, have been so busy I have barely thought about food. Getting into a habit of eating same as dd 8mths which I don't know if good or bad thing lol. Pleased to be half way down tho

DancingInTheMoonlight Tue 15-Jan-13 19:24:25

Phew! Glad to be home after a busy day! Brought my own tin of soup to work tho so was good :-) Also ordered the 30 day shred which should be arriving in the next few days. Want to tone up my mummy tummy!

DancingInTheMoonlight Tue 15-Jan-13 19:24:58

Well done daisy btw! Goes to show good old calorie counting works!

rusmum Tue 15-Jan-13 20:12:26

Am I too late to join? Need a stone off, lost 3 last year but put Half a stone back on

daisydee43 Tue 15-Jan-13 21:06:19

No not too late rudmum, everyone's got different weigh in days. How are you looking to lose the weight?

rusmum Tue 15-Jan-13 21:11:49

Running 3x week (stared couch to 5k), and mfp. Weighed in last week at 10, 12 but had a bad week so will start again thurs morn !, aiming for 10 stone ish

daisydee43 Wed 16-Jan-13 08:49:49

Morning all! Got new motivation, booked dds christening mid April so hoping to get a nice dress. Want to see if I can get down to 10st by then

daisydee43 Thu 17-Jan-13 17:26:26

How's everyone going? Hope your all being good. Felt like I was picking off plates yesterday so have been strict again today. Remember- nothing tastes as good as looking good feels smile

Wommer Thu 17-Jan-13 18:48:15

So I weighed myself this morning. (Yeah, I know, I wasn't meant to be until Friday and its not Friday yet...) and had put on the 2 lbs that I thought I'd lost at the weekend.
Tried to tell myself that it was most likely water weight as am due af next week but was still mightily pissed off.
My mum came up to London today to meet me for lunch and I just couldn't bring myself to order a salad....
Didn't so much as fall off the wagon as take a huge running leap yelling wooohoooo here I go!!!!
Had Steak, and chips (and a tiny side salad) AND chocolate ice cream. And a coffee. But I didn't eat the biscuit that comes with the coffee so it's not that bad?
Right?! grin

Maybe I just won't eat anything except lettuce and rice cakes until next tuesday and it will all be fine.

(Yeah right. wink)

Wommer Thu 17-Jan-13 18:50:42

Daisy good news about your dds christening - that's a great motivator!
How old is your dd?

daisydee43 Thu 17-Jan-13 19:35:13

Wommer don't panic, I find that a bad day often means that when you go back to your diet your body is kick started again, don't just eat lettuce tho as you won't be able to keep it up lol. Keep going, you are doing so well! Dd is 9mths btw

DancingInTheMoonlight Thu 17-Jan-13 19:46:27

I'm doing ok. Went it fitter lunch with work yesterday and had a steak sandwich and chips BUT i Cal counted it and just had a yoghurt ww choc brownie for tea so i stayed under cals for the day. I feel better and lighter despite AF :-). Got the week off work next week tho...

Wommer Fri 18-Jan-13 08:11:47

Well done dancing - that's what I should have done but didn'tsmile

Thanks Daisy. Turns out that af came early (by a whole week! DS is 7months and I think things are still settling down) and today have lost those 2lbs again grin

So still on track for my stone by the end of feb wooop woooop!!

Am going to be ever so good today as am feeling quite skinny smile haven't been this light for over a year!

(And this morning also got on the scales and had DH lift my massively huge BFing boobs up and lost another 5lbs!!!
Amazous!!!!) gringringrin

DancingInTheMoonlight Fri 18-Jan-13 13:02:46

Well done Wommer! I hold my weight in my belly boobs too. I'm surprised i haven't fallen off the wagon yet but i think the big 30 is motivating me! I really don't want to be fat and frumpy... I'm finding mfp is much easier than ww and Sliimming world for me to follow so I'm not greeting annoyed at trying to count points/syns! Has anyone got any treats planned once they get to goal?

daisydee43 Fri 18-Jan-13 19:44:08

Urgh diet soft drinks are poo! What ones are nice?

DancingInTheMoonlight Fri 18-Jan-13 20:12:30

I find them ok and mainly drinking Pepsi max and the zero products at the moment. What about fizzy flavoured water?

Wommer Fri 18-Jan-13 21:57:23

I'm not a big fan of coke etc but love squash and fizzy water. Can easily get through 2-3L per day!
Worth a try as its loads cheaper - tescos fizzy water is 17p for 2L - and you can use no added sugar squash.

leepy123 Sat 19-Jan-13 11:40:48

Hello everyone I would love to lose a stone ive gone up too 9 stone 13 and certainly not happy im 42 getting older is one thing but getting fatter just no good.It wold be great to hear how everyone else is getting on and it would motivate me too.

DancingInTheMoonlight Sat 19-Jan-13 13:50:08

Hi Leepy! We are all using different strategies to lose weight. I'm using mfp and a 1200 Cal diet which is working well for me. What are you thinking of doing?

freerangeeggs Sun 20-Jan-13 11:59:42

My favourite alternative to fizzy drinks are the big bottles of flavoured fizzy water, Perfectly Clear. Really cheap and available in all the supermarkets, often on offer. It's honestly lovely and next to no cals.

I lost 1.25lbs this week. I'm still kind of shocked that this is going so well. I've eaten cake, digestive biscuits, lovely meals, and haven't counted a single calorie. I suffer from IBS and my belly is feeling great, not bloated at all. I made a jokey New Year's resolution to eat more fatty foods and that's what I've been doing - eating nice, good quality food. I feel great! It's crazy because I've been dieting since I was nine years old and as such this feels a bit weird, but my mood is better and everything!

daisydee43 Sun 20-Jan-13 13:34:58

Hi guys need help,

Have hit a dieting stalemate - have been counting cals as normal this week and have not lost an ounce. Had a few extras yesterday as went out for meal do prob went over, had glass of wine and 2 vodka diet cokes and as I've not been eating much I've got a stinking hangover and am craving junk!!!

DancingInTheMoonlight Sun 20-Jan-13 14:25:37

Sounds tough daisy. Could it be water retention?i find at particular times of the month (just before af) i retain lots of water and also crave junk... Just keep at it, make sure you are eating regularly and healthily and the weight will come off.

freerangeeggs Sun 20-Jan-13 17:13:53

daisy, there will be times when you won't lose weight. The difference between successful and unsuccessful dieters is how they deal with disappointments smile

Glass of wine and two vodka diet cokes is barely anything calorie-wise. Just be extra careful this week. Hangover = dieting nightmare though. I always buy in low-fat crisps like cheesy wotists/skips for those times, to try to minimise the damage!! Good luck!

daisydee43 Sun 20-Jan-13 17:57:56

Luckily the hangover is making me feel sick so most food seems to be a no go. Have had toast, soup and few choc biscuits so far and don't feel like dinner. Going to start 2moz with positive attitude and get back on it, hopefully my body will re boost. Thanks for the support

daisydee43 Sun 20-Jan-13 19:41:37

Ok so been reading online and I might need to make sure I eat 1200 min cals a day as your body adapts to low calories and stops losing weight. This week I have been eating well under 1200 cals on few days so this may be why I'm struggling - onwards and upwards!

DancingInTheMoonlight Mon 21-Jan-13 09:52:10

Weigh in day! I have lost 1lb this week giving a total of 10.4lb according mfp :-). That's good news daisy- that you have a solution i mean :-) i have a fortnight off so have to behave myself! Hoping diy will burn some calories!

daisydee43 Mon 21-Jan-13 11:07:32

Ok so haven't seemed to put on any weight after this weekend which is good. Had a double whammy of protein for breakfast and trying to cut down on bloating foods ie carbs, salt, sugar etc so hopefully by weigh in 2moz I will be ok

daisydee43 Tue 22-Jan-13 08:44:02

After all that worry I have managed to lose 1lb this week which is pretty good considering. Total weight loss so far is 8lb, 6lb to go!!

Wommer Tue 22-Jan-13 15:13:18

Daisy that's great! Well done for being over half way!
You must be noticing a difference in your clothes and the way you are feeling generally now?

Am going to be supergood between now and Friday and hopefully will have a good result. Might try reducing the carbs for a few days and see where that gets me.

daisydee43 Tue 22-Jan-13 15:56:51

I was so relieved! Yes feel much slimmer, my jeans don't fit me anymore but I'm holding off buying new clothes until the big reveal. Had a happy meal with dd today so only got 360 cals left for today, wish me luck

daisydee43 Tue 22-Jan-13 15:57:46

Btw reducing carbs is a great idea, makes you feel less bloated and the scales like it too

freerangeeggs Tue 22-Jan-13 19:57:54

Well done daisy dee smile

I agree completely re: carbs. I've cut right down and it's made a big difference. I feel fuller, too. I'm not low-carbing or anything, just trying to avoid bread etc. I used to be a vegetarian but I've started eating fish again and I love it.

GossipWitch Wed 23-Jan-13 13:55:37

I managed to lose 2lb in a fortnight, not really been very good though but will be on it today with a vengeance, and I will be starting a zumba class on friday!!

daisydee43 Wed 23-Jan-13 14:45:04

That's great considering you say you've not been good. Any loss is a plus and I only managed 1lb this week and was very good. Zumba sounds good, I want to start Pilates again so will get DVD

daisydee43 Wed 23-Jan-13 21:17:55

Very excited, my bmi before diet showed I was overweight but now I'm a normal weight grin

DancingInTheMoonlight Thu 24-Jan-13 10:05:02

That's great daisy! I'm struggling to resistthe temptation to eat crap food after a particularly difficult morning with a stroppy toddler. He's at his childminder now tho so I'm going to focus my negative thoughts into during my house (hopefully)

LouiseFisher Thu 24-Jan-13 14:54:42

I lost a stone within a month, through sheer exercise (yawn) and controlling my eating habit. I don't recommend cutting everything out, make slight changes and increase this slowly overtime. Remember to lose weight effectively in the long-run you can't be starving to death. Simply, make changes that you can adopt overtime effectively, without losing the will and going back to old routines.

Good luck everybody x

daisydee43 Fri 25-Jan-13 10:20:43

Feeling really sick today, had some soft fruit in a bit to make me healthier but its back fired hmm have lost 1lb so far this week tho which can't be bad. Just eating dry toast atm as all that can stomach

daisydee43 Sat 26-Jan-13 20:14:21

Hey how's everyone weekend going? I've had a bad sat but hopefully not too bad - have lost 10lb so far and I actually didn't enjoy the few treats I had today which is a great step in the right direction.

DancingInTheMoonlight Sat 26-Jan-13 20:21:59

Not great as it was my ds birthday on Fri and his party today :-(. Still I've been angelic until now so I'll just get back on the wagon

daisydee43 Mon 28-Jan-13 08:15:21

Really need your support ladies have put on 2lb after an appalling wknd of eating for the sake it's the wknd. Didn't enjoy any of food and feel ashamed of myself. Need to eat what I know is good at wknd so I can still enjoy the food and lose weight. Feel angry that I've now got to re-lose the weight. Determined not to give up as I have always done - feel bloated and fat hmm

DancingInTheMoonlight Mon 28-Jan-13 08:40:06

I did the same daisy (eat crap i mean). It was ds birthday and i took it as licence to stuff my face. I even bought a huge bag of pick n mix which i ate by myself :-(. I darent weigh myself so just going to be really strict this week. Felt crap after all the refined sugar but its addictive and once id had some i just continued....

However I'm on a mission to lose this last half sooner before my birthday so going to find a fat picture of myself and stick it to the fridge lol

DancingInTheMoonlight Mon 28-Jan-13 10:13:39

Could you meal plan daisy? Or make a special healthy meal to motivate you?

daisydee43 Mon 28-Jan-13 10:53:03

Dancing - that sounds great about the picture on the fridge. I could meal plan but tend to eat out on wknd so I just need to pick more sensible choices which I know I can do. Sugar is addictive I don't even know why I started. Am eating porridge and black coffee so off to good start grin

DancingInTheMoonlight Mon 28-Jan-13 12:32:42

I'm not doing as well.. Had some cake which was left over and left over spam in a sandwich (think I'm hormonal or something). However i think I'll just have to have something very low calorie for tea as I'm determined to stay in calorie budget today

daisydee43 Mon 28-Jan-13 15:30:16

That's good, as long as you're in the cal allowance it doesn't matter what ya eat

DancingInTheMoonlight Mon 28-Jan-13 16:03:31

Yeah i just feel rubbish with all the refined sugar after eating so well!

daisydee43 Tue 29-Jan-13 09:29:13

Shouldn't beat myself up too much have still lost 1lb in this weeks weigh in so I have lost weight each week I've been dieting smile

DancingInTheMoonlight Tue 29-Jan-13 20:19:30

So i wanted Chinese takeaway but i made veg stirfry. :-) progress i think!

daisydee43 Fri 01-Feb-13 20:26:13

Just discovered that ice cream isn't that bad cals - morrisons soft scoop mint choc chip is only 99 cals and you get a big bowl for it, yummy smile

daisydee43 Sun 03-Feb-13 16:08:46

Been away this wknd and was my challenge not to eat for sake of it. Did have few extras like cookies from the snack bag but apart from that I didn't do too bad. Made pack lunch on sat and i had tuna salad and nutrigrain bar, sat eve had the low cal pizza range at bella italia and had egg on toast at little chef (don't go there btw it's gross, even my dustbin baby refused the toast), and now I'm home I'm enjoying a nu-me couscous pot. Hopefully it all pays off

freerangeeggs Sun 03-Feb-13 16:09:14

Daisydee, how often do you weigh yourself?

daisydee43 Sun 03-Feb-13 21:38:18

Well I do it everyday just to keep a track on if but my official weigh in is once a week and I enter that on calendar. How about you?

Last May I got on the scales and was utterly horrifed to find I had crep to up 12 stone 1 lb. I am Five foot seven. Eight months later and I am at my goal of nine and half stone, through eating less and moving more and sheer bloody willpower! Remember, the chair is the enemy so keep moving!

Amothers- that's great, have you managed to keep it off? I'm same height and trying to get to 10st as I think 9st 7 will be hard to maintain? I weighed 12st 8 last summer after having dd and lost a stone by end of year by low carbs. Since jan I have managed to lose 11lbs by cal counting and was pleased not to have put on any weight after this wknd away which shows I'm changing my ways with food now and picking better options, remain confident for weigh in 2moro

Ednate- yes I have been following 1200 cals a day but not low carb (although you tend to cut down on carbs anyway cos they're high cal) so far I am 2lb away from losing a stone since 1st jan!!

Hi sorry I've not been about! We have had a bit of drama as ds was rushed into hospital on Mon. All out and fine now tho.

I've been reasonably good considering, avoiding takeaway even tho i really wanted one! Don't think I've lost any weight but def haven't put any on... The good news is I'm now a comfortable size 12 so have ordered myself a swimsuit which will fit (rather than one two sizes too big) do i can go to a spa for my 30th birthday celebrations :-). Still going to lose another 4/5lbs tho!

daisydee43 Fri 08-Feb-13 10:20:35

Dancing - I'm sorry to hear about your DS, can't imagine how stressed you have been. Great news that you are happy with your new size that's really positive. I remember going to a spa day with my friend who is size 8 and I only wished I was slimmer then. Keep it up!!

DancingInTheMoonlight Fri 08-Feb-13 13:35:25

I'm going with my sister who is a size 8 but she hasn't had a child so i don't compare myself to her anymore lol. Besides she's way more self conscious than me! Ds is fine, its an ongoing condition so its becoming the norm now :-( previously tho it has lead to seriously crap food being eaten...

daisydee43 Fri 08-Feb-13 18:21:49

Bought some size 10 jeans today for the first time in probably 7 years. When I looked at them I thought these are way too small but they're like a glove grin

DancingInTheMoonlight Fri 08-Feb-13 21:46:05

:-) fantastic! I think the challenge well be to stay in then definitely in my case

DancingInTheMoonlight Mon 11-Feb-13 07:53:19

daisydee43 Tue 12-Feb-13 18:37:52

DancingInTheMoonlight Tue 12-Feb-13 19:15:24

I've ordered Chinese tonight-first takeaway since new year! Normally its one a week at least. Going to split it over two nights to limit the calorie damage!

DancingInTheMoonlight Tue 12-Feb-13 19:16:15

Well done daisy! I'm also looking to lose another half stone or so to give myself a birthday buffer lol

daisydee43 Wed 13-Feb-13 15:27:01

Chinese not too bad really - I had takeaways every night last week and still lost 2lb, the trick is portions and getting something not too bad to start ie instead of korma I had tandoori chicken - good luck

daisydee43 Thu 14-Feb-13 08:27:12

Have lost a stone now!!! So pleased feel very sexy for valentines and going to rummage old wardrobe for outfit - belly is almost flat!! How's everyone?

DancingInTheMoonlight Thu 14-Feb-13 16:54:20

I've had a but if a blip again.got complacent after my takeaway and have had a massive cheese burger and biscuit for lunch. think i need to practice not letting the flood gates open after every treat!

daisydee43 Sat 16-Feb-13 12:20:48

Defo hard to do - once you've started you can't stop. I always feel guilty so I tend to have something I really want instead of having the fattest thing because I can

Am having few days off because of various meals out but had salad at restaurant last night and didn't drink wine so hopefully not too much damaged caused
