2lbs a week for 35 weeks- anyone in?

I have a pretty big move coming up in just under 9 months. want to be at my ideal weight by then. This will involve losing a minimum of 5 stones (70lbs). I have come to the conclusion that doing a crazy all or nothing weightloss plan isn't going to work for me. what ordinarily happens is that I lose loads to begin with, then it all goes to pot and I put it all back on again.
So... would anyone like to join me. My first target is 10lbs by the end of november. I will just be eating lower carb, less snacking, more exercise where possible (7 mo dd and dh who works shifts, so a bit of a challenge sometimes!).

HowlingOScara Wed 24-Oct-12 16:31:10

I'm in.

I has lost about 85lbs (but needed to lose more) but put a significant amount back on during pregnancy and post birth. Baby is 4months old now and I need to get started on shifting it again. None of my clothes fit and I need to be back in my work wardrobe by the time I go back next year.

Ideally, I'd be back in the gym 5 times a week but that's just not possible with a small baby and DP working long hours so I'll be walking more when weather permits and cutting down on the snacking that I was doing loads of when breastfeeding. Back to counting calories too as that has always been quite effective for me.

I'll weigh myself in the morning and assess the damage <scared>

theowlworrier Wed 24-Oct-12 16:58:49

I weighed myself this morning, so how about thursday weigh ins- if you don't want to post your actual weight, just post your change over the week!

BTW- congrats on the baby smile

HowlingOScara Wed 24-Oct-12 19:11:33

Ok, so I may have fallen at the first hurdle as I have just taken a banana cake out of the oven. D'oh! I will make DP take it to work and force feed it to his colleagues just to get it out of the house.

Thursday weigh in sounds good. I shan't be posting my weight <denial> but will post the loss each week (hopefully!).

We can do this! smile

Overreactionoftheweek Wed 24-Oct-12 19:16:45

I'll join - although I am just about to eat a Chinese takeaway blush

I've lost 3.5 lbs so far...haven't been dieting for long, I'm counting calories but only exercise is pushing the pram at the mo.

I'm maid of honour in Feb at my sister's wedding so really need to get the weight off.

HowlingOScara Wed 24-Oct-12 19:39:57

Oh good, another recruit smile

Very jealous of your Chinese, over envy Certainly beats my (not terribly diet friendly) tomatoey, chorizo, haloumi concoction. Enjoy!

ijustwanttobeme Wed 24-Oct-12 19:47:36

Can I join please? I always seem to notice these threads three weeks in or so, and feel I can't join then ( any excuse I know )

2lbs a week sounds good , but not sure if I should calorie count or do some low carby type diet. Lost loads a few years ago doing Atkins, , but piled on and then some when began eating properly again sad

Have got my fitness pal app though so suppose counting is best

Good luck everyone smile

Can I join? I have three hen weekends and three weddings next year.

I am.wobbly and lumpy.

Im 5'2, in 14 sized clothes, and shit scared to weigh myself. will weigh first thing in the morning, promise.

BikeRunSki Wed 24-Oct-12 19:57:56

I've been doing Slimming World for 4 weeks, aiming at 2lb a week for 18 weeks, to shift 2.5 stone. Weigh in is Thursday, last week I'd lost 8lb. Can I join you? I am 5'8" and just getting back into a 14.

MotherWithoutACare Wed 24-Oct-12 20:00:30

Another one here, also need to lose about 70lbs. Going for an eat less move more approach so not sure how much I'll lose in a week. May end up going on how my clothes look/feel rather than weight but will still join in Thursday weigh ins.

OohMrDarcy Wed 24-Oct-12 20:02:57

oh oh!!! Can I join please?!?!

Seriously need to get losing, next year is my 5 year wedding anniversary and I would love to do a secret 'rock the frock' type photo shoot to surprise DH with (cheesy I know) I am also doing a 26 mile walk next summer in aid of a charity close to my heart so being a few stone lighter would make a huge difference

I'm up for a thursday weigh in - am weighing in just lb because then I don't have to think about how many stones I am [embarrased] currently 226lb

MrsLHofstadter Wed 24-Oct-12 20:17:51

<hands remainder of mid week cake baking session around thread sabotage grin>
can I join please?! Need to lose about 75 lbs. Weighing in lbs sounds like a good idea to me. Currently 231lb. Good luck to everyone.

MrsLHofstadter Wed 24-Oct-12 20:21:10

My phone clearly thinks I need to join this thread, posting twice!

theowlworrier Wed 24-Oct-12 22:41:30

Oh yay smile loads of people since i got home. Well, hows about thursday weigh ins (if we get more recruits, we can perhaps stagger the weigh ins).
Am going to have a baked spud and cottage cheese for tea. Realise that is no way low carb, but its in the house and i need to use it up.
Got a gym pass on friday and sunday (working around DHs shifts!)
So as you have all posted your motivators, mine is that we move back to the UK in june after three years away, and i dont want to look like a real porker when i get back. Also dds 1st birtjday in March so if i can lose a chunk by then i will be well chuffed. My biggest challenge is the office. There are always biscuits and cake around. Need to just say no...!

NewNames Wed 24-Oct-12 22:42:48

Marking my place smile

AyeWhySWIM Wed 24-Oct-12 22:56:06

Hi could I join you please? Am arguing with myself over whether to even bother as I have 5st to lose and no idea how I'm going to do it. The weight has just been creeping on over the last 8 yrs since getting married and I certainly haven't managed to get any control over myself since having ds last year. I just don't know where to start as I feel so down about it - every morning I start with the best intentions but end up sabotaging myself every single day and I'm sick of it. The same cycle every day - not even every week - depressed at bedtime, full of good intentions in the morning and then I find myself eating some tasty crap by evening time. Often by lunchtime.

In the last year I've joined Slimming World twice plus another local group but have just failed miserably to stick to it and then dropped out each time. I don't know how to get a grip on myself. I don't know what is going to make the difference but I can't bear the thought of going on as I am. sad

Will give this a go, hoping that hearing everyone else's tales and hopefully successes will have some influence on me.

HowlingOScara Wed 24-Oct-12 23:03:56

Yay, more folks! smile

I have a bigger motivator that I've been putting off confirming a date for...I'm supposed to get married next year! If we can ever decide on where to do it. I'd like to go somewhere hot so would need to look good in a suitably light/skimpy dress.

Suggestions for possible wedding destinations great fully received smile

Succumbed to a very small piece of banana cake...well, I couldn't inflict it on DP's workmates without first checking that it was edible, could I? blush

Porridge for breakfast tomorrow and planning a good long walk with DD in the pram. Then I need to sit down and plan a shopping list of healthy meals and snacks for the next week.

HowlingOScara Wed 24-Oct-12 23:11:05

Aye, I've been thinking of joining slimming world as there's a class just around the corner. Can I ask why you didn't stick at it? I've always been dubious about slimming classes but I feel like I need to do something different to get me kick started and the threat of a public weekly weigh in might be enough to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Checking in. Currently 155lb.

First event is first week of March, so 19 weeks away. At 2lbs a week, therefore, my first targets is to lose 38lbs in 19 weeks and weigh 117lbs by 1st March.

A few weeks ago I bought the 30day shred dvd but its still in the wrapper blush

Ooops! Currently 166!! Did my adding wrong.

So need to be 128lbs by 1st March.

HowlingOScara Thu 25-Oct-12 09:56:26

I hate my scales.

I need to lose 44lbs just to get back to the weight I was pre-pregnancy. Arse. How did I let myself put back on more than half of what I'd busted my ass to lose before I got pg?

Oh well, no point moaniing about it now. Just need to do something about it!

Onlyaphase Thu 25-Oct-12 10:59:13

Came on here to post my tale of woe then found that spookily AyewhySwim had already done it for me. Identical stories, other than I've been married for nearly 11 years, and had DD 6 years ago.

I weigh 215 lbs (sounds much better than in stones!) and really can't go on like this - none of my clothes really fit me, I've lots of size 18 tunics hanging in the wardrobe that I can't wear any more, my health is suffering, I can't sit on some stools and chairs, I can't go on rides at the fairground with DD, I struggle to run around with her, I can't go on the trampoline with her, it is just a big list of things that I can't do at the moment. Plus a friend and contemporary of mine died suddenly last week and this has made me look at my health. Not to be too grim about it but I'd like to be around to see and play with my grandchildren, and this won't happen at this rate.

Plan is porridge in the morning, hot portion controlled lunch and supper, no snacks, no sugar and no seconds. Nothing to be kept in the house that isn't something I should be eating. Plus, keep busier so I don't hang around the kitchen snuffling round the cupboards and opening the fridge

SparePants Thu 25-Oct-12 11:09:46

Hello grin. I'm in, if you'll have me. Just weighed myself at 199.5 lbs, and would like to lose around 60 of those. 2 sounds good to start with though. I have a whole barrel of things to motivate me (health, a possible wedding, my DS, etc) but nothing is quite as motivating as a block of chocolate sad. I have been doing WW for the last few months, but only in the sense that I pay the money.

Onlyaphase Thu 25-Oct-12 11:14:13

sparepants your last sentence did make me laugh!

theowlworrier Thu 25-Oct-12 12:32:12

238. The shame. Not my heaviest, but not far off... Today's goal: no snacking at work. This will be difficult, but will have a salad and yoghurt for lunch, and i don't know what for dinner. I will worry about that later. Protein bar for breakfast when i get to work!

SparePants Thu 25-Oct-12 14:20:16

Onlyaphase I'm sure it makes the WW leader laugh too (all the way to the bank...)

I like this pounds rather than stones business. Makes it seem more achievable somehow.

BikeRunSki Thu 25-Oct-12 14:23:46

Buggery blx. Half a pound on this week, that makes me 13st 13lb, or 195lb. Ah well, I had a good time at DD's birthday party last week - cake and champagne.

OohMrDarcy Thu 25-Oct-12 19:41:18

weighed in today and I was right, starting point 226lb

love that everyone likes my logic - its only good because to work it out I'd have to really want to know and open my calculator on my phone etc.... CBA with that!

AyeWhySWIM Thu 25-Oct-12 20:27:27

Hi sorry I've not been back before now, been having a hectic week. Howling - tbh I think SW is as good as any other 'diet' if you bother to stick to it. Thought that was a brilliant comment by SparePants and so true - I was really only a member by virtue of paying my money and starving myself a few Tuesdays so I could turn up to the Wednesday class feeling like I'd tried blush.

I do think that if I was going to try a group again that WW would be the one for me as it's easier just to have to count everything. On SW it seems that there are loads of free foods. Which there are. But the things that join them together to make meals have to be counted and I never quite got my head fully around Syns and Healthy Extras etc. What I would really like is to make sustainable changes to the way I feel about food and not have to be working things out all the time. So I've decided that the way forward, for now anyway, is just to try my very best to make healthier choices and get through each day one meal at a time without losing the plot! Babysteps! I just feel like i'd be kidding myself to launch into some big plan or strategy right now.

Well, Onlyaphase, you do sound a lot like me - including your wardrobe! Though I trump your 215lbs as have just weighed in at 231. My heaviest ever sad sad sad.

Do any of you have any good tips for getting your mind into the zone? I know all about health reasons, really don't like the way I look right now but somehow the temptation of tasty food always wins me over and I hate that!

theowlworrier Thu 25-Oct-12 20:31:42

Hmm. I always find diong a good proper shop and stocking up on what you need (making a list) is a good way to start. I also don't buy any junk because I will just eat it. Usually in one sitting. Leaving work early today to drop by supermarket and pick some stuff up, too. Also having stuff in the cupboards means I am less likely to get to 7pm and think I can't be arsed going to get ingredients, I will just get takeout/ a pizza/ whatever and more likely to actually cook.

theowlworrier Thu 25-Oct-12 20:32:21

That didn't make a huge amount of sense. I mean the shopping thing gets me in the 'zone'.

Onlyaphase Thu 25-Oct-12 20:42:25

Like theowlworrier to get in the zone I'm going to purge the cupboards of binge food, and only get decent food at the supermarket - I don't mean I plan to live on steamed carrots, because this clearly won't work for more than 3 hours, rather that the junky sugary food can stay in the shop and I'll get more meal-type food than snacks.

I'm also going to eat more spicy food, as at least I know I've eaten something then rather than bland pappy food.

To avoid the pitfall of snacking continuously from 5pm I'm going to plan supper in advance and prepare what I can earlier. Ideally I'd bung something in the oven and then leave the kitchen until it is ready as hanging round the kitchen leads to picking at whatever I can find. Having a stew or whatever hot and ready means I'll eat that rather than pick for 30 mins and then eat supper.

AyeWhySWIM Thu 25-Oct-12 21:18:57

Shopping well really does help, I must prioritise the time to do this. I also tend to pick from the time I get home and make ds' tea. My real issue is that I almost knowingly sabotage myself on a daily basis. As in buying rubbish at the petrol station or supermarket when I call in for things. I will also binge on just about anything in the house, nothing is out of bounds.

Anyone else just feel that there are so many points in the week that just become inextricably linked with eating...and drinking? Friday night means takeaway, wine and ice cream. Saturday night is cooking a nice meal and more wine. Sunday, well how can I make healthy choices when it's the weekend...and after Friday and Saturday what's the point?! I also have one weekday when I don't work so that day usually involves treats of an edible kind. Then the night before that feels like a Friday so there we have pretty much the whole week. Argh! I feel like I just can't get on top of this!

MrsLHofstadter Sat 27-Oct-12 22:09:01

Chinese, red wine, x factor...oh dear wine

OohMrDarcy Sun 28-Oct-12 08:51:50

Rosé, Chinese and x factor here... I did get out with the kids for a nice walk too though ... <oops>

NewNames Sun 28-Oct-12 10:15:00

I've just eaten half a dozen mini croissants. I am starting tomorrow! Wondering if i should join a gym or something. Even if what i do doesn't burn oodles of calories i find exercise helps me do the healthy eating and vice versa.

I will report back as I go smile

ijustwanttobeme Sun 28-Oct-12 18:49:22

Aagh, have had a weekend eating nothing but crap, so will start again from tomorrow.

I might be able to redeem myself and lose 1lb ( fingers crossed) by Thursday's weigh in.

This is when I think fuck it, I'll never lose weight. But I must try harder as am now at my heaviest non pregnant weight ever! And that's almost two stone more than my ideal sad

MissNJE Mon 29-Oct-12 23:40:53

I am def in. I put one five stones in the last five years without a lifestyle change. I have just been diagnosed with PCOS and I am on medication now and the weight is finally coming off. I am weighing 180lbs at the moment and I would like to lose at least 50lbs.

juneybean Tue 30-Oct-12 00:09:44

Ooo I'll join, I was 235 on Thursday last week!

MrsLHofstadter Thu 01-Nov-12 13:48:27

How has everyones week been?

juneybean Thu 01-Nov-12 13:58:40

I've had a bad week but only put on half a lb so am now 235.5 gah!

MrsLHofstadter Thu 01-Nov-12 21:35:20

I've had a not trying, eating what I want when I want week and stayed the same. Must try harder next week.

juneybean Thu 01-Nov-12 21:38:08

I saw another group on here have a nifty google spreadsheet to record every one's weigh ins, I have no idea how to go about setting it up though

MrsLHofstadter Thu 01-Nov-12 21:59:43

Ooo which group? I'll go have a sneaky look.

juneybean Thu 01-Nov-12 22:03:07

I think it was the low carb little black dress group, they just started a new thread so I saw the link in the OP grin

Can I join? I lost about 50lbs before my 40th, and put it ALL back on and more. Am about 215 and size 18 is too tight blush

Just had 2 Crunchies after dinner and am on a night out tomorrow, trying not to get derailed before I even start!

215 lbs not 215 years of age!

juneybean Thu 01-Nov-12 22:15:03

Welcome OnThe smile

MrsLHofstadter Thu 01-Nov-12 22:41:32

Come on in OnThe, love your name by the way. Derailed before even starting sounds all too familiar, I'm sure you'll fit in well.

MissNJE Fri 02-Nov-12 11:58:56

I hope it works Spreadsheet

It is not as fancy as BIWI's one but we can still use it and hopefully lose the weight together soon.

juneybean Fri 02-Nov-12 14:39:40

It's set as "view only" is there a way to make it open confused

juneybean Fri 02-Nov-12 14:40:30

P.S. Well done for putting it together!

ThePinkNinja Fri 02-Nov-12 14:46:28

Hi smile late to the party, but please can I join?
Crazy overweight and starting to feel like publicly sharing is only way forward....

I am EBF 6 week old ds2, so may take me awhile to figure out how is best to go for it, but really need to stop scoffing entire packets of biscuits and get on with losing 60-80lbs (yikes!)

Gained weight bf'ing the last time and so I'm desperate not to do it again as lost weight after both pregnancies....

Hmmm calorie counting or ww? (calorie counting has worked for me in past, but not sure how best to adjust cals during bf'ing? While Ww has a bf plan.... Anyone else bf'ing and trying to lose?)

juneybean Fri 02-Nov-12 14:53:12

Myfitnesspal.com has the option to adjust calories for breastfeeders

MissNJE Fri 02-Nov-12 20:11:17

I am not at home now but will change it first thing tomorrow morning.

MissNJE Sat 03-Nov-12 20:27:18

Took me some time to change it, but now everybody should be able to change it.

juneybean Sat 03-Nov-12 21:07:11

Fantastic! Thank you for creating it!

isthiswhatitfeelslike Sun 04-Nov-12 01:10:01

Hi can I join as well? I'm on another thread but this one is newer (don't feel as much like a new kid grin) and I also am aiming for 2lb loss per week. I'm doing ww and myfitnesspal for calorie counting. Joined ww about 2 months ago. Was 195, now down to about 180 so steadily coming off. I'd like to lose another 50 to get me down to about 130. I'm 25 and have a 4-month-old but not bf so I have no excuse to lose.

I live in America, land of the lazy, and definitely have a sedentary lifestyle. I'm more concerned about restricting cals at the moment and then when I get down to about 160 I'll probably feel a little better about getting more exercise in.

Biggest failures I've had in the past with diets is trying to force myself to eat lots of fruit and veg, which I don't normally eat. So it gets me into the "diet mentality" and I end up quitting in a frenzy because I just don't fancy fruits and vegetables. It may not be the "healthiest" way, but I am sticking to this more than I ever have by continuing to eat mostly bread, meat, and cheese just in smaller portions. I also have at least 1 coke zero every day (best invention ever!!)

My weigh ins are on Monday's so I'll be sticking to that. Was 181 last Monday so really hoping to have dipped below 180 this week...haven't been less than 180 for about 2 years or more, I was 200 in January 2011, down to 180 in October 2011 then got pregnant and ballooned up to 235. Dropped tonnes of weight straight after baby settled at 195-200 in August this year then started ww beginning September.

Good luck to all of us!!!

MissNJE Sun 04-Nov-12 11:40:58

Welcome! Your current weight is similar to mine and your goal weight is identical. I am currently at 178 lbs and I would like to go down to 130 lbs. I am going to NYC for Christmas and I want to be at least 170 lbs by then.

PLEASE stop drinking soda, even diet soda e.g Diet Coke an Coke Zero is so ba for you and can stop your weight loss. I hard to learn the hard way. Although I occasionally drink the odd glas of Diet Coke or Coke Zero I have stopped my daily consume of 4 liters!!! blush

Why do you not like vegetables and fruits? I am a huge fan of fruit but can't eat it as it has too much sugar. However I love vegetables. Can you not try cooking it mixed with meat, mince etc? It can make your portions much bigger without many extra calories.

If you want, you can enter your stats into the spreadsheet.

Good luck!

P.S: Where is everybody?!

juneybean Sun 04-Nov-12 11:54:00

Perhaps they fell off for the weekend grin

juneybean Sun 04-Nov-12 11:56:22

Oh I have to agree with soda, I used to drink 2 litres of Pepsi Max, two red bulls and a cup of coffee every day and I decided to give up Caffeine because the amount of artificial sweeteners I was putting into my body was ridiculous.

If I ever want a treat I go for 7up as it's clear, caffeine free and additive free

MrsLHofstadter Sun 04-Nov-12 16:11:20

I'm here! Trying to put stats in to spread sheet but it doesn't seem to be working. Will try later when I can get to the laptop. Had EXP trying to feed me this weekend so will have to get back on it tomorrow. Should be able to do 1lb by Thursday, fingers crossed.

isthiswhatitfeelslike Sun 04-Nov-12 17:20:44

I do have one portion of vegetables with supper every day, usually carrots or broccoli, but sometimes peas. I just never learned to eat fruit and veg as a child and don't have the taste for it (I will be making sure DS has plenty as he is weaned to prevent this with him!!)

- I occasionally like grapes or bananas as far as fruit goes...but it goes off so quickly I waste most of what I get and then think sod it, won't buy it.

MissNJE Sun 04-Nov-12 18:51:44

I ate a lot of rubbish today. It is Sunday and I needed a break. :D Ate some cake, a slice of bread - ops not very PCOS and low carb friendly. Tomorrow I am def back to healthy eating.

Chocchip88 Sun 04-Nov-12 20:10:52

Can I join please?
I have a LOT to lose, I'm 5'8" and when I joined Slimming World last week I was 275.5 GAH!!
I have 15 week old DS2, I lost all my pregnancy weight in the first couple of weeks but its gradually creeping back on, last time I was breast feeding I gained 2 stone if that happens this time my fat arse will get wedged in the front door!
So, my first goal is to lose 3 stone by my brother's wedding at the end of March which works out at exactly 2lb a week.
I'll add my stats to the sheet if that's ok.
Hope everyone's weekend went ok.

juneybean Sun 04-Nov-12 20:24:55

Hi Chocchip! Welcome grin

isthiswhatitfeelslike Sun 04-Nov-12 21:38:41

Welcome from someone who joined yesterday grin

I'm going to do couch to 5k I think, starting later today or tomorrow as its beginning of the week. Found an app that will let me listen to music and gives verbal instructions when to walk/jog at the same time so going to give it a go.

I've had a really sad day today and trying v hard not to give in and eat crap, although there's a tub of toffee ice cream in the freezer calling my name. I am also having a super strong craving for homemade biscuits. Help me sad

juneybean Sun 04-Nov-12 22:46:26

Be strong! Or have a last blow out and start tomorrow.

I started the couch to 5k a few weeks ago I'm only up to week 3 so far but as someone allergic to exercise I found it easy going.

readyforno2 Sun 04-Nov-12 23:05:05

Can I join? I'm around 5 ft 5 and probably weigh around 185lb.
Ds2 is 19 weeks and I am bf. managed to lose around a stone in since he was born but have lost momentum and self control.
Going to Florida in June and would love to be lighter.

isthiswhatitfeelslike Sun 04-Nov-12 23:52:04

Started the couch to 5k, figured it would put me off the biscuit craving, or at least counteract some of the calories if I still indulged grin - as you say juney I'm allergic to exercise as well! It wasn't too bad, but I'm tired so glad it's only 3x a week.

About to have supper - grilled chicken breast and peas. Had no coke zero today smile

juneybean Mon 05-Nov-12 10:44:39

Well done for not having any coke zero! grin

I'm very naughty I weigh myself every morning and this week is looking much better than last week, hope it keeps up til weigh in day!

Chocchip88 Mon 05-Nov-12 10:48:08

I did Couch to 5k a couple of years ago, I really enjoyed it actually. I tried again after DS1 was born but found my joints just felt really loose, someone said it was because of breast feeding. I think I may just have used that as an excuse though.

MissNJE Mon 05-Nov-12 11:22:55

I had three scrambled eggs for breakfast after having such a crap carb loaded day yesterday. I will try and start the 30 day shred again. It is tough BUT it is great.

Welcome to all the Newbies!

MissNJE Mon 05-Nov-12 11:24:27

and just a quick reminder: It would be great if everybody enters their stats here Spreadsheet

Joiningthegang Mon 05-Nov-12 12:36:10

Just weighed myself - 205 lbs -eeeeekkkkk

Can I play?

MissNJE Mon 05-Nov-12 18:01:15

What a busy day. All I managed to eat today was three scrambled eggs. Waiting for Ocado to come now so that I can make salmon and vegetables for dinner with a salad. I treated myself with a new haircut and a manicure.

How was your day?

Chocchip88 Mon 05-Nov-12 20:14:30

How on earth have you survived on just 3 scrambled eggs? I would have eaten my arm! Hope ocado aren't late.
Good day food wise here, managed to resist the smell of frying onions at the fireworks!

MissNJE Mon 05-Nov-12 21:50:46

Slept until late, had three scrambled eggs for 'brunch' and then left for a day at the hairdressers and nail studio... didn't come back until 6pm and then waited for Ocado to come and deliver our food. Had a large portion of salad and salmon for dinner with a spoonful of quinoa. I follow a low sugar, low carb (95% wheat free) diet because of my PCOS.

isthiswhatitfeelslike Mon 05-Nov-12 22:05:41

Today was my weigh in, I've lost 3.6 pounds this week, despite massive brownie and pizza overload on Saturday!! Yay! So now I'm 177.4 pounds.

Today I've fasted as I was challenged to do by some friends since the presidential election is tomorrow. So will feel ok if I indulge later in the week. Good luck to everyone weighing in on Thursday!

juneybean Mon 05-Nov-12 22:22:18

Well done isthis !

Welcome to joining

Chocchip88 Tue 06-Nov-12 10:13:56

Well done isthis, great loss.
We were meant to be having last nights leftovers for tea tonight but I burnt it and there was only enough for one meal. Oops!
I now have to go to the supermarket, something I normally try to avoid with 2 little ones. Oh well, perhaps the stress will burn some extra calories.

juneybean Wed 07-Nov-12 01:19:42

I was slightly over today but not too much, I'm still doing well considering it's TOTM.

juneybean Wed 07-Nov-12 01:20:22

Don't forget our [[https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqCgrEoP_irMdDNnWllaTTBSQmNvZmFZd0VTc0t2U3c#gid=0 spreadsheet] grin

juneybean Wed 07-Nov-12 01:23:28
Chocchip88 Wed 07-Nov-12 18:41:36

My weigh in was tonight. I lost 1.5, was hoping for 2 but after 7 last week I can't really complain. I stuck to my plan all week though, no 'out of control' eating so I'm pleased with myself.
I keep telling myself I've got a bad week ahead but actually it's just 1 meal, I'll enjoy it and not use it as an excuse to over eat the rest of the weekend...hopefully!

juneybean Wed 07-Nov-12 21:07:38

Well done chocchip!!

I'm a serial weigher and I'm annoyed that I put a pound on today, but hopefully it'll still be a good loss come weigh in on Friday!

MrsLHofstadter Wed 07-Nov-12 22:30:23

I've sat and had a good stern talking to from myself tonight. Tomorrow I'm going to get off my ever increasing bottom and do some exercise. DS will be wrapped up and strapped in to the buggy and we will go for a walk. The fact that I'm having to gear myself up for this has made me realise how lazy/much of a mess/hermit like I've become and enough is enough blush.

Weighed myself today as I didn't have the willpower to wait until tomorrow. Weight is at 232 and AF arrived yesterday so not sure how to feel about it.
I shall report back tomorrow, good luck to everyone who is getting weighed.

isthiswhatitfeelslike Wed 07-Nov-12 23:41:18

Good luck for weigh in tomorrow ladies. I've felt crap today. Not sure if it's lack of vitamins or I'm coming down with something. Could be a coke zero deficiency grin wink

I've had two large slices of honey wheat toast with butter and jam + 2 eggs today and that's it. I'm feeling rather blah. sad

ThePinkNinja Thu 08-Nov-12 10:39:09

Good luck to everyone weighin in today.

Today is my official start day smile and my weigh ins will be Fridays (if it's Thursday I may not have the motivation to be good on a Friday!)

I am at 224.4. Yikes.

I feel more motivated than I have in a long time.... But have a long way to go to actually start behaving myself and lose some fat.

Chocchip88 Thu 08-Nov-12 15:30:08

Hi pinkninja it's so good when you're feeling motivated, if only that motivation would hang around. I'm so determined at the moment but I have a very long way to go, hoping my motivation keeps up.

ThePinkNinja Thu 08-Nov-12 22:15:34

Hi chocchip smile I know what you mean and I have a long long way to go myself.
Funny enough when I read my post back I laughed. I do feel motivated... In so far as I FINALLY did my first day of eating moderately in more than a year.... I finally felt motivated enough to at least make a start on "dieting" smile

It's tough to sustain any motivation.... I'm telling myself if I can just stick with it long enough to see the first results then I will get some more motivation to continue....

At the minute even "one day at a time" sounds like a lot... Its more like taking it "one hour at a time"

Made it through the day tho smile stayed within my calories and had no crack coke zero and 1 coffee.

Hope everyone else did well today smile

juneybean Fri 09-Nov-12 08:46:26

230lbs this morning, that's 4lbs off since last week!

ThePinkNinja Fri 09-Nov-12 08:50:51

Congrats juneybean that's fantastic!!! V excited for you

Chocchip88 Fri 09-Nov-12 10:12:35

Wow juneybean! Good work!

juneybean Sun 11-Nov-12 16:38:16

Thank you!

How's every ones day been today?

MissNJE Sun 11-Nov-12 20:43:21

I seem to stop losing weight. I ate healthy all week (mainly salad and vegetables) and put on two lbs. awww lets hope that next week is going to be better.

juneybean Sun 11-Nov-12 21:08:43

Aww no I'm sorry MissNJE are you calorie counting? Maybe you need to eat more as daft as that sounds!

MissNJE Sun 11-Nov-12 22:21:17

No i am low carbing. Can't follow any other diet due my PCOS. However I got my period tonight, which explains the weight gain.

juneybean Sun 11-Nov-12 23:14:59

Ahh I see! Well hopefully the water weight from period will drop in a few days!

OTTMummA Mon 12-Nov-12 07:22:27

May I join you ladies? Weighed myself just now an am 272.8 lbs sad. Baby is now nearly 4 months and I need to stop talking about doing and bloody put down the cake(s). I am going to cut out White bread, rice, pasta bf will be having soup for one meal a day. I cut out coke when DD was born ( was addicted to it ) but need to start looking at everything else I consume.

Chocchip88 Mon 12-Nov-12 09:11:05

Welcome OTT DS2 is nearly 4 months too, hope you're getting some sleep!

I'm a bit of a serial weigher and Sat morning showed a 2lb loss but after the party on Saturday I've gained it back, oops. Hoping to magically lose it again by Wednesday evening, not sure that'll happen though.

juneybean Mon 12-Nov-12 14:13:21

Welcome OTT! Add yourself to the spreadsheet and make yourself at home.

I too am a serial weigher and am very upset about my 1lb increase that won't go away!

OTTMummA Tue 13-Nov-12 07:22:51

Well not the best start yesterday, hadn't really thought it through and ended up having hummus and crisps for lunch ( run out of veggies ) but did have soup for dinner.
I am off to the market to stock up and get some eggs and a set of scales (mine broke in the recent house move) while im at it.
Also need to start drinking more water so have a 1.5lt jug in the fridge now.
I am usually an all or nothing kind of gal, and find it hard to keep going if i fal off the wagon IYKWIM, it's a really negative pattern of behaviour that i would very much like to break/overcome.
I will tell myself not to weigh in every day,,, but,, i know i will most likely cave, i just can't help it.

Hi Chocchip88 how is your LO doing? DD will be 4 months on the 18th, she is growing too fast for my liking! wish i could slow it down, it is going so, so quick.

Chocchip88 Tue 13-Nov-12 08:10:27

Hi OTT DS2 is doing well, he's 4 months on the 24th, he was 3 weeks early but 9lb 3oz so a big boy! He's having jabs today so I'll get him weighed then. My Slimming World Consultant is v concerned about how my diet might be affecting his weight so it will be good to (hopefully) put her mind at rest.
I also really struggle once I've had a 'bad' day, on Sunday it was a real battle not to just eat all the food left from Saturday's party, I was v proud of myself that I managed to stick to the diet and yesterday was easy again. Phew!

juneybean Tue 13-Nov-12 12:15:31

Urgh serial weighing is getting me down I've put 2lbs on since weigh in day and I'm not entirely sure why.

Chocchip88 Wed 14-Nov-12 20:02:54

That's the problem with serial weighing, I just can't help myself though.
Luckily the scales were kind to me at my weigh in tonight and I lost 3lbs! Am chuffed!
Hope everyone else is doing well

juneybean Wed 14-Nov-12 22:19:57

Yay well done!

I managed to stay away from the scales today, been swimming but eaten over my calorie allowance (although didn't eat all of my swimming calories so hopefully that'll count for something!)

toomuchdisneynotenoughJack Thu 15-Nov-12 13:22:40

Ooooh can I join please!! I need to drop at least 70 lbs !! I would rather it happened quickly than slowly but I know it needs hard work to do it and make it last!! Really struggling this time and annoyed with myself as I have done it before , when dd was 8 months old ( lost 6 1/2 stone but calorie restriction and huge exercise ) but since then had Ds and put it all back on and some !!! joined weight watchers online a week ago and also am listening to easyloss virtual gastric band hypnotherapy each night ( seems to have helped with the snacking) ! So fingers crossed I can do it too!

juneybean Thu 15-Nov-12 14:21:45

Welcome toomuch !

I'm having a discouraging week stuck to calories for the most part but no loss so far, weigh in tomorrow

juneybean Fri 16-Nov-12 16:19:12

Argh up 2lbs, whyyyy?!

Chocchip88 Sat 17-Nov-12 19:46:00

Argh juneybean that sucks. Did you do anything different this week? Any reason you can think of?
Don't let it dishearten you (hard I know), hopefully just a blip and you'll make up for it next week.

juneybean Sun 18-Nov-12 01:04:35

I went out for a family meal last Friday and I didn't seem to shift anything for the rest of the week despite being fairly good AND going swimming for 45 minutes!

MrsLHofstadter Sun 18-Nov-12 12:36:27

A conversation with DXP this week has got me thinking. How do your DP's feel about how you look now, you're desire to lose weight and your end goal? Also do you take that in to consideration when dieting/setting goals?

Got weighed on Thursday lost 1.25lbs this week, in the right direction at last smile

MrsLHofstadter Sun 18-Nov-12 12:38:14

*your. Damn my fat thumbs this phone!

doyouwantfrieswiththat Sun 18-Nov-12 13:18:25

hi, can I lurk/join.

I need to lose at least 49lb, and stop rummaging through the kids party bags & halloween plunder to save their teeth grin, my doc suggested looking for low GI diets when he heard my creaky knees.

just had a twix while I do the ironing, in need of moral support.

will change my name to broccoliflorette if it helps.

MrsLHofstadter Sun 18-Nov-12 13:48:18

Welcome doyou. Is there any way in particular we can support you?

doyouwantfrieswiththat Sun 18-Nov-12 13:59:45

I think having people going through the same process is a good support, aiming for the weekly weigh ins could be the incentive I need. Would also be interested what experience people have after weight loss regarding loose skin, I have a caesarean 'apron', will weight loss make it worse? does anyone know any exercises to deal with it?

juneybean Sun 18-Nov-12 16:17:44

I worry about that doyou I can already see it's happening to my upper arms (bingo wings) and my inner thighs. I haven't even had children yet so can't even use that excuse, gah! I don't know about any exercises though.

Don't forget about our spreadsheet

SilveryMoon Sun 18-Nov-12 16:22:06

Not read the whole thread, but I'm in!
I'm not too good at diets at all!
In fact, I've tried very few. I did quite well on the Paul McKenna one and was losing about 5lbs a week, but after a few weeks, I fell and could no longer say no to chocolate.
2lbs a week sounds manageable doesn't it? Although I've been trying to shift the last 2lbs to get me to 15st forever!

SilveryMoon Sun 18-Nov-12 16:23:24

Wow! Check out the spreadsheet.
What day are we weighing?

MrsLHofstadter Sun 18-Nov-12 21:10:16

Hi SilveryMoon I think thursday was said for weighing but I think some people are weighing different days. I've just noticed the dates on the spreadsheet are fridays so I may start weighing then.

I've managed to put myself on the spreadsheet at last and I think comparing myself to everyone else that week might be the push I need. Competitive, me?

Chocchip88 Mon 19-Nov-12 10:39:00

Hi everyone!
I go to SW and weigh in there on Weds night I think the 'official' day was Thursday but the dates on the spreadsheet are Fridays! So whenever really!

MrsLHofstadter Mon 19-Nov-12 10:58:47

How easy is SW? I've been thinking about doing it but can't really afford the meetings. I did the old one about 6 years ago but know it's all changed since then.

Chocchip88 Mon 19-Nov-12 18:06:56

I am finding it really easy at the moment, it's only been 3 weeks and I've lost 11.5 pounds smile ask me again in a couple of months and it may be a whole different story.
They are updating all their handbooks etc in the new year so it might be worth it for you to go to a meeting in Jan (bound to be offers on) and get all the new literature.

Chocchip88 Wed 21-Nov-12 20:34:13

I am going to sound smug and boastful but I don't care (and am a lot heavier than most of you!) I have lost another 3.5 pounds! Seriously thrilled gringringrin

MrsLHofstadter Wed 21-Nov-12 23:26:50

<drags in bean bag that I'll have to roll out of because I'm so fat and flops down>

Evening all, that time of the week again is it? Chocchip if you carry on like this you're going to be a lot lighter than must of us. Tell me to mind my own but do you mind me asking how old/tall you are? Oh and well done on your weight loss.

juneybean Thu 22-Nov-12 00:04:16

Wow well done chocchip! Keep it up!!

I'm doing a bit better this week, but will update spreadsheet come friday!

Chocchip88 Thu 22-Nov-12 08:02:27

Thanks both!
MrsL I'm 33 and 5ft 8. If only I was a couple of feet taller I might be in proportion!

MissNJE Thu 22-Nov-12 08:04:50

I have lost 1 lbs. not much but I have to get used to the fact that due my PCOS I lose the weight slower than other people. I started the shred again and I am on day 9. My muscles are in pain but I start to see a difference. I really need to drink more.

How is everybody else getting along?

Chocchip88 Thu 22-Nov-12 08:26:47

Well done MrsNJE 1lb is great!
I am v impressed you're doing the Shred. It terrifies me!

XBenedict Thu 22-Nov-12 08:32:37

Can I join? I have 3 stone to loose sad I am the heaviest I have ever been and now have a wardrobe full of clothes I can barely wear. Something needs to change. I don't know how to start, what plan to follow but as I do no hardly any exercise I'm hoping if I start moving my arse the weight should come off. Any tips, help, support, encouragement would be so gratefully received smile

Chocchip88 Thu 22-Nov-12 10:10:21

XBenedict welcome!
I do Slimming World, I think a few people on here do low carb. Have you looked at My Fitness Pal? It tells you how many cals you need to eat to lose 2lbs a week (or whatever you want) and then you record all the food you eat and any exercise you do.

MrsLHofstadter Thu 22-Nov-12 10:26:06

Well done MrsNJE.

Welcome XBenedict have you seen our fancy spreadsheet?

annlopes Thu 22-Nov-12 10:30:04

Message deleted by Mumsnet for breaking our Talk Guidelines. Replies may also be deleted.

doyouwantfrieswiththat Thu 22-Nov-12 21:16:34

I'm 2lbs less on the scales than last weighed, don't want to weigh again in case it changes.grin

still on track, having mumsnet as peer pressure is my incentive. The low GI diet info is good for making me feel full sooner (smaller portion sizes) and for longer, now I just have to tackle the boredom/comfort snacking.

juneybean Fri 23-Nov-12 08:37:46

I'm down 3lbs since last week, will update spreadsheet when I get onto the computer!

juneybean Fri 23-Nov-12 09:01:44

Will anyone be taking a few weeks off from dieting at Christmas? I'm already dreaming of the food I'm going to buy (namely cheese) blush

juneybean Fri 23-Nov-12 09:18:55
MrsLHofstadter Fri 23-Nov-12 20:30:45

I tend to spend all xmas grazing rather than eating meals, with the exception of xmas dinner and a family birthday where we have a meal out. I also eat things I would never let myself eat normally never mind when on a diet!

juneybean Fri 23-Nov-12 21:21:14

Ahh the tragic moment where you try to pinch the children's haribo and can't open the packet. That'll teach me sad

MrsLHofstadter Fri 23-Nov-12 22:01:13

Haribo are far too tasty sad

Has anyone ever tried anything other than diet and exercise for weight loss?

juneybean Fri 23-Nov-12 22:27:23

I was trying those XLS medical tablets but didn't really notice a difference :/

MrsLHofstadter Fri 23-Nov-12 22:59:30

I was reading about those recently, people seem to have really mixed views on them. Heard two girls talking about inch loss wraps and laser lipo this week, not sure if I'd do anything like that though.

Chocchip88 Sun 25-Nov-12 15:25:02

It's all gone horribly wrong. Can someone kick me up the arse/wire my jaw shut?

juneybean Sun 25-Nov-12 17:21:22

Come on choc, start again tomorrow, forget about today. I had a hen weekend so I too need to get back on it tomorrow. We can do it!

MrsLHofstadter Sun 25-Nov-12 22:53:19

I wouldn't let one day/weekend get you down after how well you have been doing. You'll get back on it and put us all to shame as usual wink.

I've broken my scales blush I think the last 6 years have been too much for them, the constant up and down and then further up than before has taken it's toll at last...

juneybean Sun 25-Nov-12 23:09:43

Oh no!! That's terrible, how will you be a serial weigher now?!

MrsLHofstadter Mon 26-Nov-12 00:45:00

I've no idea, it's actually stressing me out not being able to weigh myself several times everyday. I think I have scale addiction.

ellargh Mon 26-Nov-12 00:50:14

I'm in. I decided tonight that I need to start shifting this weight. I am a size 20 and I need to lose 5 stone according to my 'True Weight' calculator for Dukan. The problem with Dukan is that I can only afford to spend £40 shopping for a family of four and eldest DD doesn't like meat so the Dukan would be pretty difficult. There would have to be almost no meat and a diet of just oat bran and eggs :/.

So I'm going to use MyFitnessPal again. My calorie intake will be no more than 1400 a day, I'll eat well with potatoes, some meat, fish, vegetables etc but cut right down on bread and no sweets/cakes/chocolate. It's going to be hard but I'm giving myself until next summer as the Dukan plan told me I could do it by mid-August.

I'm very nervous as I can't get in a lot of exercise due to a painful condition so walking will just have to suffice.

I start at 8am. I am incredibly nervous.

MrsLHofstadter Mon 26-Nov-12 01:31:37

ellargh I'm sure you will find all the support you need here, there is always someone around (I don't sleep, seriously).

Add yourself to the spreadsheet if you like and dive right in. We don't bite, as long as we've been fed grin.

I use food focus which is essentially the same as my fitness and have 1500 cals a day. Maybe we could start a menu/recipe swap?

MrsLHofstadter Mon 26-Nov-12 01:44:42

Speaking of someone always here, has anyone seen theowlworrier around? Hope she is ok and doing well.

juneybean Mon 26-Nov-12 10:48:41

Welcome ellargh!

I'm pleased that I only put 1lb on over the weekend (a lot of food and cocktails were consumed!)

Don't think I've seen theowlworrier around.

MrsLHofstadter Mon 26-Nov-12 11:32:02

Ahem, as you were.

Chocchip88 Tue 27-Nov-12 08:05:29

Ok I'm back on track. Weigh in tomorrow evening. Gulp!
Welcome ellargh smile
juneybean only 1lb after a hen weekend? Amazing! We're you dancing lots?
MrsL nightmare! Can you afford new ones at the moment?

juneybean Tue 27-Nov-12 08:44:10

We were in a spa I suspect I steamed it all off haha

MrsLHofstadter Tue 27-Nov-12 12:34:01

No I'm counting the copper for Christmas scales will have to wait. Instead I'm going back to my trusty tape measure. So here it is 48-40-48-28 blush. Help me!

Glad you're back on track Chocchip.

juney I wouldn't sweat over 1lb. Which spa did you go to?

juneybean Tue 27-Nov-12 12:46:34

Seaham Hall, it was amazing.

What's the 28in for?

We are very similar though I think, haven't measured this week though.

MrsLHofstadter Tue 27-Nov-12 15:47:20

My thighs sad.

juneybean Tue 27-Nov-12 15:57:05

Oh mine are exactly the same. I can no longer wear jeans as my waist and hips have gone down but thighs have stayed the same.

MrsLHofstadter Tue 27-Nov-12 17:35:12

Jeans are a nightmare!

juneybean Wed 28-Nov-12 12:10:12

Good god I've put more weight on since the weekend, it's catching up to me I think! I was good today and yesterday though so hopefully I'll have a loss or STS by Friday weigh in!

juneybean Wed 28-Nov-12 12:10:41

Oh I meant to ask if any one was on MyFitnessPal, I'm jefnerf if you want to add me smile

MissNJE Wed 28-Nov-12 13:49:19

I've had three really bad days and I guess I put on weight. Aaaw not feeling great at the moment. I was in hospital on Monday because my breast is inflamed and I get Penicillin. I am in a lot of pain because of it and can hardly move.

Is anybody of you on Twitter?

juneybean Wed 28-Nov-12 16:20:18

same username for Twitter as in my previous post smile. I don't use it very much, its linked to my goodreads account.

juneybean Wed 28-Nov-12 16:20:46

sorry to hear you're not 100% sad

Chocchip88 Wed 28-Nov-12 20:09:34

Hi all,
juneybean still time to get that weight off by Friday!
MrsN sorry you are feeling rubbish. Hope you feel better soon.

Despite my blip on the weekend I have lost another 3.5 pounds. Am hoping the fact I'm doing so well will enable me to have some self restraint over Christmas....hmmm...

doyouwantfrieswiththat Fri 30-Nov-12 09:51:35

blush been a bit rubbish this week, will give myself a slap round the chops & lay off the crisps.

juneybean Fri 30-Nov-12 14:19:37

Lost half a lb since last week so not too bad at all!

MrsLHofstadter Fri 30-Nov-12 17:21:11

I think I've lost weight confused. Got weighed in town on scales which are always 3lbs heavier than at home, if that's still true I've lost 4lb this week hmm. However I'm now going by those scales so 231lbs it is sad

MrsLHofstadter Fri 30-Nov-12 17:23:30

Back where I started ffs!

Chocchip88 Sun 02-Dec-12 09:43:53

MrsL don't worry about the actual numbers, you know you've lost weight.
How has everyone got on so far this week? Not been too bad this end, a little bit of unplanned snacking, will have to be extra good over the next few days.

juneybean Sun 02-Dec-12 11:05:33

I'm being bad at the minute, totm is one reason but ugh its so cold I just want to.comfort eat, I suspect I'll never see the 15s

MrsLHofstadter Sun 02-Dec-12 12:09:50

I'm thinking about joining the gym, do I dare?

juneybean Sun 02-Dec-12 12:18:33

Well that all depends if you want to throw £20 a month away feel free to throw it my way!

But if you think you'll actually go, then why not, shop around though, there might be cheaper ones in leisure centres.

Chocchip88 Sun 02-Dec-12 16:37:57

I do miss going to the gym. Used to hate the idea of it but felt a lot better after I'd been.
I want to eat everything in sight today, I blame the cold weather. Is it too early for dinner?!

MrsLHofstadter Sun 02-Dec-12 16:48:04

Leisure complex near us has full membership £15 and I'll get student discount on top of that for the next few months.

juneybean Tue 04-Dec-12 21:08:54

That sounds like a good deal if you can get the discount too.

How are we doing this week?

MrsLHofstadter Wed 05-Dec-12 14:33:01

Not sure how I feel about this week, I've had days where I have eaten a lot and days where I have missed meals. Getting weighed later so we shall see what it has done to me. Hope everyone else is doing better.

Chocchip88 Wed 05-Dec-12 18:40:33

I lost another 3lbs this week, I'm starting to let old habits slip back in though, I need to start being a bit more focused before all the old habits reappear! Also want to be as good as possible before Christmas!

juneybean Wed 05-Dec-12 19:21:12

Well done chocchip !

MrsLHofstadter Wed 05-Dec-12 19:55:33

Well done Chocchip. I've stayed the same this week.

MrsLHofstadter Wed 05-Dec-12 22:36:14

Added this weeks column to the spreadsheet if anyone wants to add to it.

juneybean Thu 06-Dec-12 00:38:02

I'll weigh in on Friday but suspect I'm going to stay the same this week.

doyouwantfrieswiththat Thu 06-Dec-12 19:48:17

chocchip you're doing well on the spreadsheet.

MrsLHofstadter Thu 06-Dec-12 20:23:51

She's doing amazing isn't she? How are you getting on doyou?

doyouwantfrieswiththat Thu 06-Dec-12 21:20:37

not as disciplined as I should be but slowly going in the right direction...which actually describes the rest of my life too grin

MrsLHofstadter Thu 06-Dec-12 22:28:02

I know that feeling!

Chocchip88 Fri 07-Dec-12 08:01:40

Thanks all smile I have never lost weight this quickly before, I'm really very determined at the moment and don't want my boys growing up with a mum always on a diet, avoiding uncomfortable situations etc I don't think there can be more motivation than that!
Everyone else is doing well too, this time if year is really hard, I'm sure come Jan everyone's motivation will go through the roof.

MissNJE Fri 07-Dec-12 09:53:22

My last two weeks very just awful. Ocado came this morning with lots of vegetables and salad and I will be back to my low carb diet from tomorrow.

juneybean Fri 07-Dec-12 10:23:05

Ooh welcome back MissNJE!

As suspected I've stayed the same!

MrsLHofstadter Fri 07-Dec-12 19:02:08

Since I have nothing better to do on a friday night, I've been and joined the gym.

juneybean Mon 10-Dec-12 19:27:50

Oh well done!

I had an anomaly last night, I got on the scales late at night and had magically lost 4lbs, but alas this morning it was back again...

juneybean Tue 11-Dec-12 11:32:05

Bumping because this doesn't show in my threads I'm on anymore hmm

Chocchip88 Tue 11-Dec-12 12:59:28

Oops I fell off the thread two.
How's everyone getting on this week? No Christmas parties for me yet so still plodding along! Weigh in tomorrow, my scales were kind to me today, we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Chocchip88 Tue 11-Dec-12 16:47:02

Too not two blush Lack of chocolate is obviously detrimental to my brain power!

Chocchip88 Wed 12-Dec-12 18:14:35

Only 1lb this week, I was pretty good as well! Hopefully it'll show up next week. Mustn't get demotivated!
Hope everyone else does well

juneybean Wed 12-Dec-12 19:36:11

A loss is a loss! My weigh in is Friday! But still haven't lost any thing so far (but to be fair I haven't been too good!)

doyouwantfrieswiththat Fri 14-Dec-12 00:05:53

Huzzah, back on track. Must be all the walking about doing christmas shopping.

juneybean Fri 14-Dec-12 19:44:19

Well done doyou keep at it.

I lost a 1lb this week.

juneybean Fri 14-Dec-12 19:58:22
Chocchip88 Sat 15-Dec-12 10:58:38

Looks like everyone is back on track this week. Has anyone got much going on to tempt them off track this week? My Christmas work's meal is not until Friday so hopefully I'll do ok again on Wednesday weigh in. Although my husband is off for Christmas now (teacher) so need to make sure he doesn't persuade me to have any takeaways etc!

juneybean Sat 15-Dec-12 15:52:39

I'm meeting a mumsnetter for lunch on Wednesday but hopefully that's all!

juneybean Thu 20-Dec-12 12:06:04

How we doing?

juneybean Thu 20-Dec-12 12:08:43

I just added final two weeks for 2012 and will create a new sheet for 2013?

doyouwantfrieswiththat Fri 21-Dec-12 10:29:49

too many mince pies...sad, but it's a good thing to be here because it stops me mindlessly snacking.

juneybean Fri 21-Dec-12 10:45:18

I lost a pound, I think that's it now, time for Christmas! grin

doyouwantfrieswiththat Fri 21-Dec-12 10:55:11

Happy Christmas Juneybean hope it's a good one. smile

Chocchip88 Thu 27-Dec-12 08:46:58

Weigh in tonight. I have been 100% unhealthy and over eating every day over Christmas and a sneaky weigh in this morning shows a 5lb gain! Will see if the scales agree tonight. I'm back on plan today, giving myself the next 2 weeks to get rid of Christmas weight then I'll carry on aiming to get 3 stone off by my brother's wedding.
Has anyone managed not to gain weight this year?

shellyf Thu 27-Dec-12 15:42:10

Can I join please?I had lost 23lbs but have put 3 on this week.Would love to lose another 20lbs.

juneybean Thu 27-Dec-12 15:47:43

Happy Christmas all! I'll weigh in tomorrow morning but I think I've managed to only put on a couple of lbs!

Then I've got til July to lose at least 45lbs!

Chocchip88 Thu 27-Dec-12 16:54:30

Hi Shelly of course you can join.
Well done to you and juneybean for minimum gain over Christmas, very jealous!

juneybean Sun 30-Dec-12 11:04:33

I've entered you and I onto January spreadsheet

Welcome Shelly, feel free to add yourself!

shellyf Sun 30-Dec-12 18:16:54

Thank you.Will do.

Chocchip88 Sun 30-Dec-12 18:18:19

Thanks Juneybean. Today the scales told me I have lost only 1lb of my 5.5 gain. How come it's so easy to gain and so hard to lose?

juneybean Sun 30-Dec-12 18:24:13

A lb loss in a few days isn't bad! But I know what you mean, I think I've held back over Christmas because I was frightened of putting weight on.

juneybean Tue 01-Jan-13 19:01:28

Oh it's all gone terribly wrong since weigh in day, dreading Friday!

Chocchip88 Wed 02-Jan-13 12:06:54

Me too juneybean confused was giving myself 2 weeks to lose Christmas weight but think I've probably gained this week. Will find out tonight.
Stupid cake.

Chocchip88 Wed 02-Jan-13 21:24:26

Somehow managed to scrape 1 1/2 pounds this week. Really not sure how, 1 good day, the rest if the times my meals were good but snacking was out of control! However I did watch some of my 30 Day Thread DVD today, maybe just watching it burned a few calories! Really hoping for 4 pounds shock next week to get rid of Christmas gain. Think I'm asking a bit much!

juneybean Wed 02-Jan-13 23:49:11

Well done chocchip ! You can do 4lbs! I believe in you! grin I'm still munching festive food so will start properly on Saturday I think!

Chocchip88 Thu 03-Jan-13 11:45:18

Aah thanks juney, hope so.
Hope you get back on track on Saturday, have you got something to aim for this year?

juneybean Thu 03-Jan-13 12:56:30

Yes, hoping to lose 45lbs or so to get down to BMI of 30 so I can TTC later this year.

What about you?

Chocchip88 Thu 03-Jan-13 18:46:31

Ooh exciting! I wanted to lose weight before I TTC but I didn't seem to have the motivation - which is ridiculous really. The only time I've not over eaten was when I was pregnant though, I think DH put on more weight than me finishing my leftovers!
My first goal is to get 3 stone off by my brother's wedding - end of March - and then 5 stone off by the time I go back to work in August. I still have plenty more to lose but I'm just focusing on them for now.

juneybean Thu 03-Jan-13 23:01:10

That's a good target, I think it's best to be realistic, like BMI of 30 for me is 13st 5 and I know that's still overweight but it's somewhere to get to then after that I can reassess and maybe look to getting down to the 12 stones.

Because I think if I had said I want to get to 10 stone from my original 19st 5 I'd have lost motivation.

juneybean Sun 06-Jan-13 21:33:45

Put another pound on by Friday argh! So that's 3lbs on over the holidays but now I'm back on myfitnesspal recording everything I eat!

MrsLHofstadter Mon 07-Jan-13 09:52:23

Oh it's all gone horribly wrong! Aim is to lose as much as I can by april and then see where I am at.

juneybean Mon 07-Jan-13 19:19:42

Good idea! Get yourself on the January spreadsheet and see how we go!

MrsLHofstadter Mon 07-Jan-13 20:01:34

Possibly starting a new job in April so would be nice to lose a bit before then. And once I'm not at home in the day I know I'll lose weight anyway.

juneybean Mon 07-Jan-13 20:05:08

Oh fingers crossed for you then grin

MrsLHofstadter Mon 07-Jan-13 20:06:38

Possibly starting a new job in April so would be nice to lose a bit before then. And once I'm not at home in the day I know I'll lose weight anyway.

MrsLHofstadter Mon 07-Jan-13 20:07:39

Thank you.
Why does my phone like to double post on this thread only?!

Chocchip88 Tue 08-Jan-13 08:11:39

Maybe it's because you are twice as committed to this thread wink
I posted at the end of last week and it's not showing, odd!
Finding it really hard this week, I'm just about sticking to plan but every non mouthful of chocolate is a battle. Hopefully my hard work will show in the scales tomorrow.
Onwards and upwards (or inwards and downwards!)

juneybean Tue 08-Jan-13 16:59:05

I can't remember what diet you're doing chocchip, if calorie counting, no calories left over for a niblet of chocolate?

Chocchip88 Wed 09-Jan-13 21:09:01

5.5 off!! So pleased gringrin

Chocchip88 Wed 09-Jan-13 21:10:21

juneybean I'm doing Slimming World. I have chocolate everyday, usually a kit kat along with a hot choc (and sometimes another kit kat), it's just I've been wanting to bathe in chocolate all week!

juneybean Wed 09-Jan-13 21:28:56

Ohh wow!! Well done on the 5.5lbs!! That's fantastic grin

Well I think you can bathe in chocolate, just keep your mouth closed wink

juneybean Fri 11-Jan-13 11:16:41

I'm back to my pre christmas weight so 3lbs off this week!

Chocchip88 Fri 11-Jan-13 18:57:47

Excellent juneybean!!! Good loss and good to be back to normal. You have lost so much weight so far, you must be thrilled

juneybean Fri 11-Jan-13 19:19:41

Thank you! I lost 20lbs between September and December last year and I know I have done well but there's still this niggle that says you could have done better! Argh!

You are doing brilliantly though, we can do this!

doyouwantfrieswiththat Fri 11-Jan-13 19:58:18

oops..new year, new start.

At least my activity levels have increased slightly, even if I don't have enough self control to stay off the christmas goodies.

juneybean Fri 11-Jan-13 22:01:53

Ooo welcome back doyou grin

juneybean Fri 11-Jan-13 22:05:16
juneybean Fri 18-Jan-13 10:56:09

Where are you all?

flipflopper Fri 18-Jan-13 15:21:29

am i too late to join you?

I started my diet 2 weeks ago, and have lost 5lb since then.
Im not following a diet plan, just being sensible and trying to do more exercise!
I dont really have a goal weight but I would like to fit into a size 12, am a 16 at the moment. Ive just been letting myself get bigger over the past couple of years, and had a baby last sept,so im ready to lose it now!

MrsLHofstadter Fri 18-Jan-13 15:50:57

I am so out of control, it's scaring me.

juneybean Fri 18-Jan-13 17:25:18

No hop on in flipflopper! Well done on your 5lb loss!!

Oh no mrslhof have you lost motivation?

Ruprekt Fri 18-Jan-13 17:28:57

Get yourselves on the low carb thread!

It is ackshully lifechanging.

I lose 8lb in week one and DH lost 6.5lb.

It is a complete revelation as a WW follower for25years

flipflopper Fri 18-Jan-13 19:04:42

i looked into the low carb diet, and it looks good, it obviously gets results, but what do you actually EAT??? i dont want to eat loads of meat, and i dont think long term it is good for you to eat high fat??Just my thoughts!

I think sensible eating and trying to avoid processed foods, and upping your activity is the best way to go (in an ideal world, obv)!

MrsL, hope you are ok?

Ruprekt Fri 18-Jan-13 19:50:22

You need to embrace the whole way of eating. WOE.

And read the links that BIWI posts to see the evil of sugar and carbs.

DH and I are thoroughly enjoying it.

MrsLHofstadter Fri 18-Jan-13 20:24:32

I think my body may go in to shock if I went low carb. Toast with too much butter is making up about 50% of my diet currently.

All Christmas food has gone, I shall be buying nothing tasty in it's place.

The toast needs to go.

juneybean Fri 18-Jan-13 21:42:15

I'm quite happy with my calorie counting thank you smile

You can still buy tasty, just healthy tasty! I had fish and roast veggies for tea delicious!!

doyouwantfrieswiththat Sun 20-Jan-13 00:18:45

still here and (very) slowly diminishing. Being snowed in is good for my walking exercise regime. grin

Chocchip88 Sun 20-Jan-13 09:45:27

Hiya, I'm still here too.
Bad week last week, DS2 was up every 2 hours every night (it will be night 12 of sleep hell tonight, although things are beginning to look up!) and sleep deprivation also deprived me of kit kat resistance. Still managed to scrape a pound though so I was pleased.
I've been pretty good this week but have had a couple of slices of freshly baked white bread, too hard to resist when it smells so good!
MrsL we need a plan to get you back on track! I found it really hard after Christmas so I did it in stages. The first week I ensured all my meals were healthy but I was still snacking and then on the second week I managed to snack more to plan. Also why do you want to lose weight? If you stop and really think about the reasons perhaps that will help with motivation.

juneybean Mon 21-Jan-13 07:45:26

A pound is great, especially in this cold when we just want to eat comfort food grin

Chocchip88 Wed 23-Jan-13 19:39:25

Another 2 pounds this week so still on track for the 3 stone for my brother's wedding grin

juneybean Wed 23-Jan-13 21:44:36

Fantastic! You're doing brilliantly!

juneybean Fri 25-Jan-13 10:42:46

Good losses this week!

MrsLHofstadter Fri 25-Jan-13 11:22:57

Well done this week everyone. Think I'm getting back on track, despite being 3lbs heavier then when we started in October.

Thank you for your little talk on Sunday Chocchip it's got me thinking this week. Think I'm possibly a little bit depressed and realised my messy love life is getting to me.
I am working on doing this for me and my DC to be healthy and putting everyone else 2nd to that.

Chocchip88 Fri 25-Jan-13 12:26:59

Well done everyone! A great week!
mrsL sorry you're going through a tough time. I seem to really struggle with food when I'm going through a rough patch, but if you can get on top of your diet then I'm sure having control of just one part of your life will help you feel a bit better.

flipflopper Sat 26-Jan-13 10:04:00

Hi all,
Ive lost another 2 pounds this week, I have really got into the healthy eating, ive never been able to do it before.
Every time i think about eating something unhealthy, i just think is it worth getting fat for? At the rate i was going, i would just keep going up through the dress sizes, you cant keep doing that can you?

Hope everyone has had a good week.

Chocchip88 Sat 26-Jan-13 10:54:06

Well done flipflopper great to see the pounds coming off. You're sounding really motivated grin

juneybean Sat 26-Jan-13 11:15:40

Well done flipflopper ! Great loss!

doyouwantfrieswiththat Sat 26-Jan-13 15:16:22

still going....onwards & downwards.

Chocchip88 Sat 26-Jan-13 17:27:39

Well done fries! Bring on February!

Chocchip88 Thu 31-Jan-13 08:50:30

Hi all, I've had a shocking week. By some small miracle I lost 1/2 pound though!
I'm going to be absolutely 100% on plan this week to make up for it.
Hope everyone else has had a better week.

juneybean Thu 31-Jan-13 10:15:57

Oh no! Still a loss is a loss. Not sure I'll have a loss this week, have been poorly and medicating with soothers and cough mixture which I am sure are full of sugar!

Chocchip88 Sun 03-Feb-13 08:05:48

Well done MrsL!
Juneybean at least you know why you gained sad are you feeling better now?
I'm back on track this week, we'll see what Wednesday's Weekly Weigh-in holds.

juneybean Sun 03-Feb-13 11:04:59

Yes feeling much better thank you, hopefully I will be back on track this week!

Good luck for Wednesday!

Chocchip88 Thu 07-Feb-13 12:37:52

3.5 off this week grin
Hope everyone does well tomorrow

juneybean Thu 07-Feb-13 19:44:00

Wow brilliant loss! Well done you!

juneybean Fri 08-Feb-13 11:20:37

I lost the 2lbs I put on last week! Pity I wish it could have been a 1lb more

Chocchip88 Thu 14-Feb-13 09:59:33

Well done anyway juneybean, 2lbs is still a lot in one week.
I gained 0.5 this week confused although my scales at home show a loss and finally in the 16s! I ate loads before my weigh in for some reason so hopefully it will show up next week. I have a wedding on Saturday so will have to work extra hard the rest of the week.
Hope everyone else has a better week!

juneybean Thu 14-Feb-13 21:06:55

I've been very naughty this week and tonight blew it all for a takeaway so will expect a gain tomorrow! But back on it next week!

Chocchip88 Fri 15-Feb-13 09:12:14

Hope you enjoyed it!

juneybean Fri 15-Feb-13 11:20:39

I did! But I do have morning-after guilt today haha!

I've updated the spreadsheet, a 1lb on so not too bad!

juneybean Fri 01-Mar-13 12:11:21

I've added March if any one is still around!

Karbea Sat 02-Mar-13 14:34:23

Can I join? I think I've only got 8lbs to loose but I really need some support, I'm only 5ft so loosing that'll make a big difference.
Last week I jogged and did shred level one on mon, tues, weds and thurs. on thurs and fri I did David kirschs 24hr detox - which was hard!
This morning I tried to carry on with the first day of the 5 day detox, but the shake was gross, tasted like cake mix, but in a bad way! Just ate some chicken, lettuce, yellow pepper, celery, and sinned with humours and half a thin rice cake (hopefully not too bad).

Really need tips on how to keep up exercise and good food as I last a couple of days then I'm back on the couch with a creamy high fat curry sad

MrsLHofstadter Tue 05-Mar-13 12:39:09

Hi Karbea, not sure where everyone is. I've not been around myself for a while.

Thanks for doing the spreadsheet juney. I'm too scared to step on the scales so shall wait until the next weigh day now and see what they say, eek!

Is anyone else still around?

BambieO Tue 05-Mar-13 14:14:30

I'm a newbie smile please can I join?

I am 5ft 11 and weigh 195lbs. My DS is six months old and I will be going back to work soon and really don't want to be feeling this bad about myself. Would love to get some new clothes and feel fabulous.

I am doing low calorie on MFP and weigh in day will be Thursday. I am also doing the 30 day shred, on day 3 so far

You have all done so well I hope I can join in the losing!

BambieO Tue 05-Mar-13 14:15:25

Ps I only started Sunday but fingers crossed for a loss still

juneybean Fri 08-Mar-13 19:37:09

I lost a 1lb this week smile

BambieO Fri 08-Mar-13 19:45:04

Ah well done juney that's brilliant!

I lost 4.8lbs but I cut right back from my normal junk/alcohol diet so it will slow down now but was very pleased.

Is it ok to join you all?

BambieO Fri 08-Mar-13 19:48:29

I see you have put me on the spreadsheet, thanks very much I have updated smile

juneybean Fri 08-Mar-13 19:57:40

Brilliant loss Bambie grin it's a great incentive even if it is the alcohol wink

BambieO Fri 08-Mar-13 19:58:57

Haha I agree! It was a nice positive start so I just have to try and stay on track, hopefully these threads will kick me into shape

juneybean Fri 08-Mar-13 19:59:49

Our poor little thread here is a bit dead so I also dabble on the Chiefs one if you've seen it around. I've added a few of those on MFP to keep me focused. I'm jefnerf on mfp if you add folk.

BambieO Fri 08-Mar-13 21:25:22

Haha ok I will check that one out smile just added you
