another motivational monday, another reason to continue

(971 Posts)

New thread for those of us who need a little kick every now and again. Remind me of your reasons for doing this again? I need to be a healthy weight for possibly the first time in my adult life.
We all have blips. Days, sometimes even weeks off. And the scales stay the same or even go up. But long term, you should be losing weight and learning new habits to maintain. Think of it like house prices - they fluctuate and go down as well as up (apparently they do go up!). But over a long period of time you're unlikely to regret buying a house.
welcome yoghurt smile you'll find all the support and virtual kicks up the bum you need here.

yoghurtisnoticecream Mon 10-Sep-12 10:41:06

Thank you stealth smile

I will certainly need a few kicks .

<polishes best kicking boot>
grin
I will start by confessing I've just had a chunk of cadbury caramel blush. However that will be it until my crispbread/houmous/cucumber lunch

Thanks for the shiny, new thread Stealth. I hope it's going to be filled with the same success of the last one. And a bit of success for me too.

What did you do with the rest of the bar? I hope you put it somewhere hard to get to so you can ration properly. grin

It's in the fridge smile but it is my "bar for having a piece of" not my "bar for eating in one go" iyswim.
I know... I have issues

BonkeyMollocks Mon 10-Sep-12 11:11:40

Marks place.

Today - so far so good.

Iswym don't worry. Good for you! grin

obrigada Mon 10-Sep-12 11:37:38

Ok if I join you?

of course obrigada smile Why do you want to lose weight, and what are your plans for doing it?

reastie Mon 10-Sep-12 12:01:26

Marking place. Things not going too well here today <gets ready for a good kicking>

What's up reastie?

sleepychunky Mon 10-Sep-12 12:38:17

Marking place here too - at work so can't post but will be back later tonight

Marking place so I can get it on the app.

reastie Mon 10-Sep-12 13:01:03

Just really hungry stealth and eating too much - really getting me down but don't feel strong enough to deal with hunger. Also because of work and getting barely any sleep all week end I haven't been to the gym in over a week and will only get to go once this week - I think I knew things would get worse when I went back to work until I settled into my new routine but it's still frustrating.

I'm wearing my size 18 jeans today but they are so tight I can't get the button on and the zip is pretty snug fit, but they make me feel like I'm achieving something even if they won't do up given I was a size 22 just over 2 months ago.

reastie just wondering if a DIY, low fat graze box would help at work? I think is fab you've lost 2 dress sizes. And in only two months. Don't worry about today. You seem pretty determined to do this so don't let one day hold you back.

Thanks for the new thread Stealth. I'm just marking my place here as I'm not doing that well this week.

reastie Mon 10-Sep-12 13:18:40

theone it's been more like an off week if I'm honest blush . Nothing even too bad, just eating more than I was before I was back at work, Oh, and I'm not quite 2 dress sizes less yet, more like one I just made myself squeeze into these jeans today as my other ones fall down and I refuse to buy a new pair in the hope I will fit in these properly soon

sloth why not so well?

LardBean Mon 10-Sep-12 13:24:01

Room for a large one?

reastie, that's brilliant - sounds like you've done so well so far. Don't let an off week put you off.
Hi LardBean smile

what would you put in a low cal graze box?
Ned some inspiration as it sounds liek a good idea

eightytwenty Mon 10-Sep-12 13:32:22

Great new thread stealth.

Welcome newbies.

Reastie. Chin up. That is fab progress. It's much harder to Fit exercise in when back at work. But shred is good for time poor! Though I'm still resisting today. Also try to have as much protein as possible. I'm sure that is the solution to hunger. Though I refuse to go low carb.

I posted earlier but lost it I think. 2lb on after holiday. At least I'm in good company this week. But I have realised I've lost and now regained those 2lb since I got back from France a month ago. Need to work harder to hot December goal!!! Lunch was lentil and bacon soup and hummous with v yummy crisp breads (which I thought were 39 cals each, but are only 9 cals. So started with 3 and ended up having 6! But still better than toast).

Just need to navigate 2 day trip to London and hazards of hotel food and coffee aka cake breaks. Own snacks is probably the answer!

LardBean Mon 10-Sep-12 13:32:36

A hard boild egg? Approx 78 Cals and mostly protien.

reastie Mon 10-Sep-12 13:42:30

Healthy graze box? mmmmm. Maybe rice cakes? I know they're for children but I really like the Annabel Karmin tomato rice and corn snacks hmm . I love the food doctor soy nuts as they really fill me up and are a good source of protein, but they aren't that low in fat or calories.Dried fruit? Would be interested to hear others' ideas too.

reastie Mon 10-Sep-12 13:44:22

Forgot to say, thank you so much for your encouraging comments - really helps - think without this thread I would have just given up ages ago. At present I'm considering giving up work for many reasons (although in fairness I'm always thinking about giving up work since I returned from mat leave!) which would free up lots more time to go to the gym. Wish we were more financially secure though as not sure it's fair to DH for me to stop working.

MrsPnut Mon 10-Sep-12 13:45:39

Great new thread.

I'm not feeling so motivated this monday but will try again tomorrow.

BonkeyMollocks Mon 10-Sep-12 14:16:07

Well i have just snaffled a tuna bagutte, but if i have something light later hopefully i can come in on cals .

Welcome newbies !

Realised today as i was scoffin bagutte that my goal for Christmas is not going to happen if i keep having days weeks where my heart isn't in it.
2st 4lb by xmas! Still doable? confused

Love the idea of a graze box. I bought some dried apple and mango today and they are both lovely. Defiantly hits the sugar craving!

I think so bonkey but ikwym , I o the same, put it off and put it off then realise I'm running out of time. I want to be 11st by end of Oct (so near enough a stone off) then 10st by Christmas. seems doable but I'm not doing it.

obrigada Mon 10-Sep-12 14:27:07

Thanks for welcome Stealth, want to lose weight in order to look and feel healthier, am fast approaching 50 and feel about 10 years older, energy levels low. Going to use the next few days to set up a healthy eating plan starting on Saturday - am on a week off from work next week (badly needed) - and going to use that time off to kickstart a healthy regime!

Good for you smile
Right, graze box, as of Thursday. Good plan about egg, if I cut it into quarters, especially. Carrots, celery, apple. Ryvita things snapped into 4.

Welcome newbies. I forgot to say that before. blush

I have no idea what to put in a graze box but the others have some good ideas.

I just bought some delicious satsumas for the dcs but there may not be too many left by the time they get home. How many cals in a satsuma?

<goes of to google>

Ooo only 18. They could go in a graze box too. smile

KatoPotato Mon 10-Sep-12 15:07:06

Good afternoon all! Stealth I like what you've done with the place, it looks very... Motivational!

Thanks for everyone's lovely wishes, my DH has been an absolute star and I think DS has been a welcome distraction for everyone too.

My goal is 10st for by xmas as a starter, with a target of 11st by Halloween (no particular reason) I am 11st 8 today so think it's achievable so long as I keep away from the cakes and chips and keep up my exercise schedule!

Had a meeting this morning with a colleague I've not seen since 3 stones ago! Was nice to see her reaction but again I'm rubbish at responding to compliments!

Oblomov Mon 10-Sep-12 16:00:49

Marking place. Thanks Stealth.
Am trying to decide what my goal for Christmas should be.
I should be 9 stone, so I should aim to be under 10. Which would be an 11 lb loss. Which may indeed be achievebale for some. But as we all know, I neither gain weight, nor lose, even when I really apply myself.
So I really don't know what to aim for. Maybe 10 1/2 is more realistic.
I know you might all scoff at me only losing 4 lbs, which is what most of you lose in a week, but I wonder if it is physically possible for me to lose even that.
Off to read the rest of the thread, and the end of the old one.

Oblomov, no one is scoffing. I tend to find I lose weight when I first start, at the moment I'm struggling to do 1lb a week. I think you have less to lose than me some of the rest of us too, so that is harder as its a bigger proportion of your overall weight.

Oblomov Mon 10-Sep-12 16:13:41

Have read end of old thread.
Sorry for Stealth and Kato's loss.
I was errr, kind of wondering. I find it hard to keep track of who is losing. I wonder if we could have a summary, like a congratulations post, maybe once a week. Listing and thus rounding up, all those losers, who we need to encourage. Then I could see who has lost and congratulate them. Or is that not a good idea, Stealth?

Well I'm easy. I haven't lost in about a month but I will this month you wait and see. <determined>

You are not alone when it comes to it not moving.

Oblomov Mon 10-Sep-12 16:28:49

I have been very very good , today and testerday.
Shall I make you mouth WATER wink
We had friends over for BBQ. I made Char sui Tenderloin of pork - Hoisin sauce, 5 spice, ginger, soy, garlic. Was divine.
I also made bbq huge racks of ribs :paprika, sea salt, cayenne pepper, mustard powder, black pepper, oregano.
and ketchup, cider vinegar, honey, Worcester sauce, garlic.
I made salad: sweetcorn, beetroot, cherry toms, cucumber, spring onion.
There was minted new pots, plain new pots and green salad.

And I ate the remains for lunch today.
Trying to remember when I last ate anything bad. Has been a few days, I think.

BonkeyMollocks Mon 10-Sep-12 16:31:59

I am with you there. i haven't lost for about a month either and gained 1 lb!

I have 3 months to get my arse into gear!

KatoPotato Mon 10-Sep-12 16:53:04

I was 12 9 at the start of the original thread. (14 7 to start last June) today I'm 11 8 so celebrating a stone off since start of the club. no regular pattern of loss, many stalls, loss after eating rubbish but not when good... Just keeping it up and enjoying Friday weigh days instead of Mondays!

KatoPotato Mon 10-Sep-12 16:53:39

And thanks Oblomov for the food porn!!!

reastie Mon 10-Sep-12 17:11:27

I like the idea of stats every week to see how much everyone has lost/gained so we can support and congratulate - do we set a day (maybe Friday?) and write on here our gain/loss and then everyone who wants can copy and paste and add to the list (or do phones not do copy and paste)? [clueless]

fivegomadindorset Mon 10-Sep-12 17:11:43

Afternoon all, will catch up later feeling a bit wobbly so just scoffed some granary bread and marmite.

KatoPotato Mon 10-Sep-12 17:16:37

I suggested a shared googledoc (like on MFP) but not sure who's all keen?

BonkeyMollocks Mon 10-Sep-12 17:35:27

I don't mind a shared google doc (no idea how to use it) but I ma up for it. may help me stay on track!.

Just had a slight wobble, ds has been invited to a pool party and I am petrified of water, he has never been swimming before. No idea what we are going to do yet. I felt the need to comfort eat, so i munched my way through a handful of grapes and I feel better! No shit has passed my lips!

MilkshakeMaker Mon 10-Sep-12 17:36:56

Hello every one, I havnt been on here for a few days but have been very well behaved and weighed this morning and now.11st8 which is a loss of 4lb since last week! and I've done a sneaky weigh in every day and its been 11.8 since Friday so def safe to say it Wahoo!

Stealth and Kato I'm so sorry to hear both your news, my thoughts are with both of you and your familys, glad to see you are both still here though..

All of these losses is great, it just goes to show its our hard work and support to each other that really does the trick, so good!

reastie Mon 10-Sep-12 17:53:58

I've never done googledoc kato but would do it if someone told me how . Can we do it on MFP or do they not do that kind of thing

bonkey what are you going to do re: pool party?

milkshake well done

fivegomadindorset Mon 10-Sep-12 18:11:12

restie don't beat yourself up about it, if i lack sleep i east way more.

Oblomov I saw your thread about the ribs, did cutting the spice bits in half help?

Welcome newbies.

yes to a googledoc or whatever

Bonkey could someone go with him? How old is he.

I think I may have started a revolution today, which wouldn't be bad if they weren't prisoners hmm

BonkeyMollocks Mon 10-Sep-12 18:11:33

I think google doc is better. Not every one is on mfp, and I only use it as a counter.

I'm going to try and get dh to take him this week so he has at least been to a pool. Problem is, the only time they can go is thurs eve after 6, which is too late really. Ds is knackered with school at the moment. Will have to play it by ear.

I am considering telling dh to take a sicky or at least finish work abit earlier so he can take him. confused . I honestly don't think I could do it without crying blush . I don't want ds to pick anything up from me iyswim!

Well done Milkshake ! smile

KatoPotato Mon 10-Sep-12 18:17:42

Right, I'm officially volunteering to create the googledoc. Details to follow!!! (be good to keep my fragile emotions occupied in the evenings)

I think for now if everyone posts their username and a starting weight (real or modified if you're feeling self conscious) we'll make the date effective from today :0)

BonkeyMollocks Mon 10-Sep-12 18:20:06

Bonkey
Starting weight : 12st 9lbs
Present weight : 12st 4lbs

reastie Mon 10-Sep-12 18:22:18

Is our starting weight our fattest weight before current weight loss or our weight at the point of joining this thread?

BonkeyMollocks Mon 10-Sep-12 18:34:56

reastie My starting weight is both of those grin I found this thread about 5 days after i decided fat need be gone!

fivegomadindorset Mon 10-Sep-12 18:35:11

Oh Fuck, a friends daughter has just been diagnosed with leukaemia, went into Southampton yesterday and started chemo today. We sat down on the beach the saturday after Expats daughter died, having a bottle of fizz, throwing flowers in the water and praying that none of our children got it.

shit. that;s awful. I hope her treatment is not too demanding. How old is she?

fivegomadindorset Mon 10-Sep-12 18:37:29

MilkshakeMaker Mon 10-Sep-12 18:42:36

fivegomadindorset Mon 10-Sep-12 18:44:18

My starting weight - 16lb 5

Off for my first ever zumba class later - absolutely bricking it! Hope I'm not the fat one in the corner without a clue what to do, although to be fair I do have good rhythm and I can follow instructions, so hopefully that's good enough. Won't have time to eat anything before I go though as have to get DCs in bed first, so will be starving when I get home. Wish me luck smile

fivegomadindorset Mon 10-Sep-12 19:00:26

Good luck at zumba, I will be there in spirit.

Wow! Loads of posts since lunchtime.

fivegomadindorset Mon 10-Sep-12 19:44:11

And the drama continues, we now have first responders and a car ambulance here as one of our guests isn't well.

BonkeyMollocks Mon 10-Sep-12 19:51:27

Do you think we should start a soap? confused

I still want to know about the prisoners revolt. grin

fivegomadindorset Mon 10-Sep-12 19:56:27

OK, I work for the clinical side of the substance misuse team in a prison, we run iinformation groups for the prisoners who are on prescriptions to help, the other side of our team want to take over these. The prisoners are not happy, they are putting in complaints and one of them is starting a petition.

Well I hope it's resolved peacefully!! shock

Not sure how much I weighed when these threads started. I was 16st6 in July 2011. Am now 11st13.

BonkeyMollocks Mon 10-Sep-12 20:46:22

Oblomov Mon 10-Sep-12 21:21:24

sorry to be a dimwit. but what weight is that? What is 177 or 173 or how do I calculate my weight?

marriedinwhite Mon 10-Sep-12 21:31:05

Yay stealth >>bows<< thank you.

I am menopausal, well probably post menopausal and on HRT and have had thyroid problems for more than 20 years. I have been hefty for about 4 years and reached breaking point when I weighed more than the night before dd was born at 41.5 weeks sad.

Joined weightwatchers on 19th June. It has been hard work, hard hard work. At weigh in tonight I had lost 1.5lb. That made my total loss 14.5lb. When I started I lost 1/2lb in the first week and put on a brave face and said that if I lost a stone by Xmas that would be great and I would be in a better place. At ww tonight we were told it was 12 weeks to Xmas. If I can lose 6lb in 12 weeks that will be a total loss of 20.5lb. I would be happy with that - more than happy with that.

Oblomov Mon 10-Sep-12 21:35:45

five in dorset, yes the cutting out of the cayenne, worked a treat. Must go back on that thread and update.
I THINK I have updated Kato's spreadsheet.
I didn't even have a google account til a few minutes ago. Shows how un-techy I am !!

BonkeyMollocks Mon 10-Sep-12 21:37:32

oblomov the numbers are lbs smile

Oblomov Mon 10-Sep-12 21:39:18

KatoPotato Mon 10-Sep-12 22:33:24

Yup nice one bonkey! Can you work out how to make it do sums???

LardBean Mon 10-Sep-12 22:43:53

Well that's not very motivational! I'm living up to my name by being mahoosive compared to everyone else. Hey ho only a week in and I am after all tall, "big boned" etc etc blush

PooPooOnMars Mon 10-Sep-12 22:46:22

lard Do you want on?

And who is the random numbers? grin

LardBean Mon 10-Sep-12 22:50:49

LardBean Mon 10-Sep-12 22:51:54

Is it me? My name is there when I click the link

PooPooOnMars Mon 10-Sep-12 22:54:58

Lard. Sorry! I really do have a very small build! So at the moment have a double chin and cellulite arms, thighs that rub together etc despite only weighing what i do. Its a bit weird. I think Im one of those people who don't look what they weigh.

Although saying that my scales are crap and last time i went ww their scales put my weight at half a stone heavier than mine so its probably not accurate. But only having crap scales Im going by what they tell me as a guide.

Hope you lot don't mind my being here!

PooPooOnMars Mon 10-Sep-12 22:56:16

Wow stealth! Haven't you done well!

LardBean Mon 10-Sep-12 22:56:45

Don't appologise! My goodness my weight is my own fault!

BonkeyMollocks Mon 10-Sep-12 22:56:48

PooPooOnMars Mon 10-Sep-12 23:06:22

PooPooOnMars Mon 10-Sep-12 23:13:45

Good morning everyonesmile,
Early shift today, well done on the google doc, it's impressive.

There's an edit button at the side, click it (for a currently empty row) and a text box pops up. Add name and click "submit"

sleepychunky Tue 11-Sep-12 06:40:00

Morning everyone, just taken a look at our lovely sparkly Google doc - thanks Bonkey!

I did zumba last night for the first time. Oh.My.God it was fast and hard, but I absolutely loved it! Was sweating like a pig afterwards but felt so good. Am feeling a bit achy today and think it might be worse tomorrow, but I am definitely carrying on with that.
And on a good note I have lost another lb so have now lost 21lb in total, but that is unofficial until next Monday!

Oblomov Tue 11-Sep-12 07:08:36

Weigh in: - 10 12 1/4. Put on 1 and 1/4. haven't done weigh-in for many weeks. Now I know why I haven't wanted to! So, my partying, holiday food bingeing etc have finally caught up with me.
Lard, please don't feel bad. Remember some of us are 'vertically challenged' wink I, myself am not even 5' 2''.
Walking to school today. I can do that am and pm, 4 days a week, if the weather is nice. One day I need to drive, to get d2 to a pre-school further away, and then back to work, but I'm sure if i did walk on the days it wasn't chucking it down with rain, it would make a big difference to my weight loss.

Oblomov Tue 11-Sep-12 07:21:00

others who could be added to the list:
chipsandmayonnaise
Lollipop Violet

......... thinks of more.
where is everyone. Have all the old timers slipped off the thread?

MrsPnut Tue 11-Sep-12 07:30:13

Morning, I need to grab the minute bit of motivation I feel this morning.

I have an appointment at 9:30 this morning and then I am going to force myself to go for a bike ride today.
I also could do with some refresher ideas of lunches without bread, I need to cut it out if I am going to lose another 2 stone before Christmas.

MrsPnut Tue 11-Sep-12 07:31:36

I've added myself to the doc but I can't bookmark it on the iPad.

MilkshakeMaker Tue 11-Sep-12 07:54:11

Sorry guys, I've been anal and added borders!!

I've got a 40 min walk then a 75 min walk planned today..sadly it would actually be 20 and 45 min walk if I didnt have ds with me so will be going so slow I dont think I can count it!

Mrs Pnut, are your lunches for at work or home?

marriedinwhite Tue 11-Sep-12 07:55:18

I added myself. Don't know if it saved though. All a bit techie for me.

PooPooOnMars Tue 11-Sep-12 08:08:27

Thank you bonkey. My dh doesn't think i need to lose weight but its how i feel that matters and for me my start weight was chubby. Rubbing thighs can be so uncomfortable!

Morning all. Mars this thread is for everyone who wants to lose some weight. You are welcome here.

Hope everyone has a good day spurred on by our new spreadsheet. Thankyou to those who did it.

It's ds2's first day of pre-school nursery today. He's going full time so it's like his first day of school. He looks very sweet in his new jumper but I am really going to miss him. sad

Oops. My point was I think I'll be too nervous to think about food. grin

Or anything else obviously blush

MrsPnut Tue 11-Sep-12 08:20:07

At home for now. I get bored with omelettes quickly and don't always have any leftovers from the night before.

PooPooOnMars Tue 11-Sep-12 08:27:57

I find tuna salad good. The protein makes it filling. With balsamic vinegar rather than mayo.

Sometimes when i don't have many calories or fancy a bigger dinner i just have vegetables with gravy on! I love that. Sometimes with mint sauce as well. Might sound a bit weird but i only eat fish, not meat so have mint sauce in non lamb situations. Sometimes i do a bit of stuffing to go with it as well.

How about making some soup in batches and freezing?

LardBean Tue 11-Sep-12 08:33:19

I have a balsalmic vinegar spray in my handbag to add flavour on the go Poo, tuna salad sounds like a good idea for lunch

PooPooOnMars Tue 11-Sep-12 08:41:30

Wow! That's committed!

[wonders where i can get a spray]

Warm green beans added to the tuna salad can be good as well as a hard boiled egg, avocardo (sp), olives, beetroot, etc depending on what calories/points you have available.

LardBean Tue 11-Sep-12 08:51:20

Feel I should add that I'm currently on Exante so Tuna Salad is food porn at the moment grin

KatoPotato Tue 11-Sep-12 09:32:46

I want a balsamic spray?! Where do you find such a thing?

What about lettuce wraps as well. You replace the wrap with lettuce and have your filling as usual.

LardBean Tue 11-Sep-12 09:39:42

Spray
I bought a spray for £3.85 at a foodie market, pricey but as its a spray you tend to use less.

PooPooOnMars Tue 11-Sep-12 09:49:50

What's exante?

MrsPnut if you look at the top left of your iPad screen there is a box with an arrow pointing out of it. Click on it and then click add bookmark you can save it.

To retrieve it you click on the book icon at the top left and then click on the one you want.

LardBean Tue 11-Sep-12 10:01:40

It's a bit like a cross beween Lighter Life and slim fast. You can just use the shakes or you can have a meal too. I know it's not ideal but I have so much to shift I need to get rid of it quickly to stay on track. It's not for everyone but it seems to be working for me.

PooPooOnMars Tue 11-Sep-12 10:15:29

Oh i see. Do they recommend following any sort of healthy eating plan once the weight is off? My friend has done lighter life many times but goes back to eating huge plates of fried stodgy food (her nemesis) once she finishes so it just goes back on. For me the challenge is not to go back to eating 6 chocolate bars a day. (bit of an addiction . . . Low calorie hot chocolate is helping at the mo!)

yoghurtisnoticecream Tue 11-Sep-12 10:38:55

Hello all , still here and still sticking to the eating healthier thing .

The shred is however still in its wrapping .
Will read back now , thread moves fast .

nochipsthanks Tue 11-Sep-12 10:42:41

morning thanks for the new thread. marking place and going back to read...

nochipsthanks Tue 11-Sep-12 10:56:12

Hi again- I think I added myself to the spreadsheet. Hi Oblomov, have things settled down now with your friend?

I have given myself a couple of 'freebie' days. Never mind, back on it now. My goal now is to just lose between half a pound and a pound a week until I am 9 stone 7. The next major thing I 'Have' to look good for is not until August next year I think, so I will just settle into slow steady weightloss hopefully

LardBean Tue 11-Sep-12 11:15:04

Yes Poo, they have various stages that ease you back into eating and making sure that you are eating healthily. It's less hardcore than LL aswell. If I had less to lose I would try WW or SW but I need to see results quickly or I wail and blame the world grin
Once I'm down to something vaguely healthy I will go low carb low cal. I basically need to stop eating what DH does.

PooPooOnMars Tue 11-Sep-12 11:31:51

That's good then. LL does seem very harsh.

My dh has been doing mfp alongside me and its been eye opening for us both to see what he can eat alongside what i can. The difference is huge!

I've explained to DH why cutting us the same size portion of cake/pie is actually not fair, as he's 8in taller and a man, so his calorie needs are more than mine.
This lunchtime I had chicken pasta bake, and felt full 2/3 of the way through it. In the past I would have pushed on and finished it, then slumped into full sleepiness, today I threw the remainder in the bin.
Would BMI be a good thing to measure on the spreadsheet too? Mine was 38, is now 34.5. It should be doable if we input height and use weight to calculate BMI.

PooPooOnMars Tue 11-Sep-12 12:10:15

Ooh that's a good idea!

PooPooOnMars Tue 11-Sep-12 12:12:39

Mines gone from 23.2 to 22.5.

(again . . . Im of small build!)

MrsPnut Tue 11-Sep-12 12:30:50

Thanks for the ideas.

I need to go and poke around in the kitchen for some lunch. I had 2 boiled eggs on 2 crumpets with just vegemite on them which was a nice change for breakfast.

BonkeyMollocks Tue 11-Sep-12 12:34:20

Ugh!
Feel.all.bloated. Due on this week. sad
So far all i have had today is dried apple, grapes, and a banana. No idea for dinner yet, must get back into planning!

Question: Can i make cadburys highlights with milk?
I know it would be more cals but i hate drinking things made with hot water and i want to try the halzelnut one!

PooPooOnMars Tue 11-Sep-12 12:42:47

I've made it with milk before, it works just fine.

PooPooOnMars Tue 11-Sep-12 12:43:05

Didn't know there was a hazelnut one!

BonkeyMollocks Tue 11-Sep-12 12:48:33

I didn't either.
Found Fudge, halzelnut and caramel ! smile

eightytwenty Tue 11-Sep-12 14:24:27

Thanks Bonkey - but am I going mad with calculations?

I thought you calculated x stone * 14 + additional lb?

So 10 Stone 3lb would be 143lb?

I've ammended document on that basis - albeit with higher start and current weights....Let me know if I'm wrong though - am having a technologically challenged day!

Also just realised that as well as having 2 day work trip to London, I fly home on Thursday night, and then back again on Friday lunchtime to go to friend's 40th in London on Saturday. Temptations galore.

BonkeyMollocks Tue 11-Sep-12 14:26:49

I use the conversion calculator on my phone.

14lbs in a st.

I have 10st 3 as 144lb (rounded up to the nearest number)

BonkeyMollocks Tue 11-Sep-12 14:28:02

Oh wow, we have %'s and all sorts now!

Clever people! grin

BonkeyMollocks Tue 11-Sep-12 14:29:56

Ive just put my starting weight in and its come up 180 instead of 177 confused

obrigada Tue 11-Sep-12 14:31:51

Not sure of my weight as haven't weighed in a few weeks, have made a decision to join WW on Thursday evening so will post my weight on Friday. Have resisted joining any slimming club for a long time but am only deluding myself by thinking I can do this on my own.

BonkeyMollocks Tue 11-Sep-12 14:39:04

weight conversion calculator

Its at the top of the screen. does it come out the same for you?

BonkeyMollocks Tue 11-Sep-12 14:41:55

Ok, I have it! I think

In the something lost bit it goes all weird. i have lost 5lbs but its telling me I have lost 7. The numbers on my weight are what the conversion thing changed 12.9 and 12.4.

How does that work? confused

BonkeyMollocks Tue 11-Sep-12 14:48:33

Nope can't suss it!

<remembers why i go in st/lbs!> grin

eightytwenty Tue 11-Sep-12 15:45:15

I think the convertor is reading 12 stone 10 oz as 12 stone 1 - ie working in decimal places.

Can't find a way to do automatic conversion, though there must be a tool out there some where. Otherwise manual conversions will have to suffice.

Oopsblush, I just got roundly flamed for suggesting that it might be possible to lose weight by eating less and doing more exercise, silly me, thinking that my eating less, exercising more and losing weight could be linked in some way.
None of my flamers explained why it wouldn't work, they just sighed and attacked me. Does anyone here know (please, in a non-attacking way, I actually can't see where the argument falls down)

Where was this?
The starvation mode theory is very popular - that if you eat too little your body hangs onto the cals and becomes very good at keeping the cals you do consume. Sounds good but I'm not actually convinced. I'm with you - for the majority of people who don't have health complications, eating less and moving more should lead to weight loss. Easier said than done of course grin

PooPooOnMars Tue 11-Sep-12 18:31:04

Where was that?!

BonkeyMollocks Tue 11-Sep-12 18:33:00

IMST I bet all those flamers, are the people who believe you can eat 5000 cals a day and still lose weight hmm .

Eat less, move more is basic weight loss!

PooPooOnMars Tue 11-Sep-12 18:36:56

Yep they're acting like dicks.

reastie Tue 11-Sep-12 18:45:34

lard what a fab idea

OK, I think I've added myself to the google thing - could someone check I am officially on there and not just on the one on my computer please?

Went to the gym today at last - 450 kcals burnt - horrah grin

IMST how dare you say such a shocking thing which obviously can't be true wink [sarcastic]

BonkeyMollocks Tue 11-Sep-12 18:47:37

Reastie I can see you.

I'm actually so tired now I cba to eat....thats a first! shock

Thanks for defending me poopoo (it's the John Briffa MN academy course thread)

It has not been a great day at work for me. I got "volunteered" to help a poor hedgehog outside nursery. As I donned gloves I was informed that it had in fact been there for a couple of days "but it definitely moved yesterday". You've probably guessed it was not a live hedgehog, I had to pick up the corpse and put it somewhere safe (in a bush round the corner) while the nursery DCs looked on, then pretend it was still alive and had shuffled off somewheresad. I suppose in a way it hadblush.
Why do I get all the disgusting jobs?

Sorry imst that has made me snigger. Did you have to make snuffly noises too, but throwing your voice of course?

KatoPotato Tue 11-Sep-12 19:50:46

I'm finding when asked by others 'how've you done it?' and I answer 'eat less move more' they are disappointed or suspicious!

It's not rocket science, I've finally realised this! If I eat seven kitkats guess what?

I hid the MN academy witch hunt thread in the end (the first thread I've ever hidden), there was a core of posters very evangelical about their cause, they jumped on everything I said about anything. If they're representative of those attending the course, they can keep it thanks.
I put in a formula for the total group current weight, we've lost 260lb (or thereabouts)grin yay for us!

Luckily they were out of earshot, but I had to keep my face cheerful as they all looked so expectant. It was somehow stiff and squelchy , I suspect it had been hit by a car, then kicked about a bitsad.

PooPooOnMars Tue 11-Sep-12 19:56:06

Yeah its not worth it inmysparetime. They probably don't want to believe its that simple.

BonkeyMollocks Tue 11-Sep-12 19:57:44

I have just read that thread and shock.

Defensive much??!!

Thanks for adding me to that, whoever did it smile I'm going to look whe I get home as only have phone.
Feeling very motivated at te moment. 750 cals yesterday, abt 850 today. Careful day tomorrow and thursday, stir fry thurs nigh. Then take away on Friday (after funeral) but NO BINGEING. surely ill havelost something by then?

Just read thread. As I suspected starvation mode ahem principles.
All of you should sign up to stealth's weight loss plan. Send me a fiver and I will send you a carrot in the post. And no doubt buy loads of chocolate with the money grin

Can someone get a formula for group total lost? I can't edit that box.
Also, does the SUM formula "grow" to fit additional lines? If not, could someone change it to include box C20?

If no ones done it by tomorrow I will - not really pulling my weight grin

BonkeyMollocks Tue 11-Sep-12 20:12:39

Aye? confused

<lost with all the technical stuff> grin

fivegomadindorset Tue 11-Sep-12 21:14:16

Evening all, I am mightily impressed by the spreadsheet.

IMST - didn't you know that you don't lose weight by eating less and exercising more grin

I got taken out to lucnh by my manager today, Thai, I hope I made good choices.

MrsPnut Tue 11-Sep-12 21:52:18

I've fiddled with the formulae a bit, making them simple sum instead of using IF Sum.

I was going great guns today until I went to the pub for the PTA meeting, I ended up having a few drinks and then staying to have a few more after the meeting finished.

marriedinwhite Tue 11-Sep-12 22:43:27

I have had breakfast, lunch and dinner today. And some chicken bites, some left over pasta with tomato sauce and two glasses of wine. sad

Good morning everyonesmile,
It looks like quite a wet Wednesday, so I can't really potter about on my bike. I'll do my pilates DVD instead, and perhaps go on the wii fit as well.
DH wants takeaway for dinner, I would like to have a good number of "spare" calories left for that.

fivegomadindorset Wed 12-Sep-12 07:28:29

Oh well, the lbs I have lost have been shoved on but clothes still loose so hoping that they will be easy to lose (the lbs not the clothes)

Morning all smile sorry to hear that five. I sem to have to lose the same weight 2 or 3 times at the moment before it stays off. Not like the good old days where I could skip chocolate in front of the tv and find id lost 6lb!

reastie Wed 12-Sep-12 07:33:35

kato I think people want something specific they can do to lose weight so are a little disappointed when you say eat less move more. It's like they want you to say you lost all the weight by eating nothing but McDonalds or something hmm

stalth I'm finding the same thing - somehow I just lost 2 or 3 lbs a week over the summer and now I've been staying the same a couple of weeks or so. Don't tell me I've reached my plateau! I've still got 2.5 stone to go!

Dh and I both now caught DDs bug so feeling very tired and miserable

So frustrating isn't it. I can feel it working though. The size 14s that were tight on the waistband are definitely a lot more comfortable. My stomach is almost flat as long as I suck it in. My thighs, which I've always hated look so much better. Ultimately if we keep at it, the weight will cone off. I feel loads healthier for not being obese. Have not done shred for ages though sad need to get into a new routine

I was looking at our spreadsheet and I have to congratulate Stealth. I wish I was as good at losing.

IMST people can only take so much truth. Well done for hiding the thread.

It was a good day yesterday. I'm hoping for the same today. smile

MumOfAPickle Wed 12-Sep-12 08:00:28

Good morning, can I join? Read through the thread last night but too tired to post. I'm another short one at 5" 3 but somehow managed to get up to nearly 13 stone at one point blush That was 5 years ago and I lost 3 stone for my wedding but have since had 2 babies and am now stuck at 10st 10. It doesn't sound massive I know but i feel flabby and big. Sometimes I feel ok (i've been losing and gaining the same half a stone for about 6 months) but then i'll catch myself in a shop window or a photo and just feel bleaurgh.

Sorry for the essay!
So, start weight: 11st 3
Current weight: 10st 10
Goal: 9st 7 by xmas

Good morning MumOfAPickle. Losing 3 stone is fab. It sounds a good end weight to me. Mine's supposed to be 9st 6 and I'm 5'5. I despair of ever getting there though.

LardBean Wed 12-Sep-12 09:07:45

Morning Ladies

MumOfAPickle Wed 12-Sep-12 10:23:34

Thanks. I know 9 and a half stone should be doable but I haven't been under 10 stone for about 10 years so it seems a mountain to climb.

MumOfAPickle Wed 12-Sep-12 10:26:51

Oh and I have been presumptuous and added myself to the spreadsheet but my weight loss/% hasn't come up. Have I managed to do it wrong?

Welcome mumofapickle and hi everyone else. How is everyone?
Just read throgub my last post again and it sounds so boasty, sorry sad I am far from thin, but just so pleased I'm getting there - this is the first time I've engaged willpower successfully and the novelty still hasn't worn off.

Welcome mumofapickle and hi everyone else. How is everyone?

MumOfAPickle Wed 12-Sep-12 12:00:32

You absolutely should be boasty, you've done amazingly well! Honestly I think losing weight is so so hard (especially when you get to my age) and you need to celebrate successes.

PooPooOnMars Wed 12-Sep-12 12:10:13

It didn't sound boastful at all!

If we are going to share though . . . Im rather pleased because I've lost a bit of the fat around my face! I feel like i look like me again!

Its weird isn't it because i see people twice my size who still have lovely slim faces yet mine disappears under chub the minute i put on a few pound!

I didn't read it as boasty. I had to go back and have a look what you were talking about! grin

Even if it was you have very right! I would be shouting it from the rooftops if it were me.

That's great Mars! It's good when you can see the results for yourself.

Poopoo that's brilliant. Ikwym about people's faces - I don't feelblike my face gets fat too easily which helped me delude myself for so long. Can feel a difference now though which is nice.

How come the phone didn't ring all morning, then within the 40 minute pilates DVD it rang 4 times?
How does my mum/my boss/recorded PPI message/telesales rep know I'm doing Pilates which requires focus?angry
On the up side, mum invited me to go to Amsterdam in half term to celebrate DBro's 21st birthdaygrin. I will finally get to spend Euros <note to self, "must get out more>. The last time I went to mainland Europe I was pregnant with DS who turns 11 next weekblush.

BonkeyMollocks Wed 12-Sep-12 14:05:50

Afternoon.

So far today I have had a fresh banana milkshake (182 cals) , and have a roast chicken planned for dinner. I'm thinking I may just have chicken, stuffing and veg with gravy and skip the fattening, greasy bloody yummy roasties and yorkie puds!

Hi MumOfAPickle

Not boasty Stealth ! You should be proud of what you have achieved!

Well done poo still chickle when I write your name grin

I'd ditch the stuffing and have roast carrot or parsnip instead. Stuffing is surprisingly calorific.
Roast sweet potato is a good alternative to potato, it cooks faster too.

reastie Wed 12-Sep-12 14:15:35

IMST isn't it always the way re: the phone!

poopoo well done on the non fatty face - we now have to wear name cards at work round our necks with our photo on. They were taken in July. I look awful - it literally looks like I've eaten 3 people blush . I keep looking at it to shame me into motivation!

I think I'll be up to 200kcals over my MFP again today. Still within the maintain allowance though so hopefully no damage done. I left my salad at work when I came home for the day at lunch time so had to opt for an egg and mushroom sandwich hmm

In other non weight loss news - I found a big large insect in my shopping bag last week from my online supermarket delivery. It looked like a cockroach shock but I can't be 100%. Whatever it was it shouldn't have been there! I emailed sainsburys and it took them 6 days to reply and when they did they just fobbed me off with an £18 voucher angry . I've rung environmental health about it as if there's a problem I don't want other people getting bugs in their shopping too.

Afternoon everyone. I've just spent 2 1/2 hrs up a wobbly stepladder scraping wallpaper from dd's room. That's got to be reasonable exercise. I'm booked in for my first aqua aerobics tomorrow. I'm a bit nervous.

I love a midweek roast. I'm envy.

BonkeyMollocks Wed 12-Sep-12 14:16:02

IMST I know, but I bloody love it blush . I cannot have roast chicken without it, its a crime! T'is only sage and onion, no sausagemeat. Tries to redeem self .

Have parsnips and carrots as well.

Have factored all cals in before I ate anything else today. I have it down as 602.

reastie Wed 12-Sep-12 14:17:56

theone I used to do water aerobics - it's fab - I loved it. Don't be nervous - you don't have to be that coordinated and it's really nice on your joints being in the water. It looks a bit odd from out of the water but you do feel like you're really working if you have a good instructor

Thanks reastie. I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow. smile

<waves>

I'm back from holiday. And, amazingly, I weighed today, and am back at 12st 12 after putting 2lbs on before I went...

Hi LV did you have a good time? We now have a spreadsheet showing our losses, to keep track of what losers we all aregrin.
Look back through the thread for the link.

I had a lovely time, thank you IMST smile

I shall have a look at the spreadsheet now smile

reastie Wed 12-Sep-12 18:26:31

Nuts, the day was going averagely bad and then I just got one of my IBS attacks where only eating will help and had to eat a yoghurt, some oat muesli, some rice cakes and a fruit/nut bar. OK it's not that 'bad' in what I chose but it means 150ish kcals over MFP allowance has gone up by another at least 300 kcals sad

Hope no one minds, but I've added myself to the spreadsheet smile

I'd like to break out of 180 range next week - although I've not got much time lol smile Gym tomorrow - yay! smile

Hullo all
What busy bees you've been while I've been stuffing my face trying to get back on the wagon! I'm massively impressed with the spreadsheet smile I've taken the liberty of putting myself on there (weight pre-binge as I daren't get back on the scales). Have I done it right? The percentage thingy at the end is blank.
Hope everyone is doing ok. There's some impressive exercise and willpower being demonstrated here. I hope you inspirational lot can force me back on the wagon some time soon before I undo all my hard work!

Welcome back lollipop hope you had a good holiday.

<gives sloth a kick back onto the wagon>

I can't help with the percentages. You'll have to ask one of the clever people. grin

You lot had lost me another 10lb grin easiest 10lb I've ever lost! But even with that added back on it still says I've lost about third of my starting weight!! not too far off I suppose

But thank you blush I am grateful to you lot for putting me on there smile

PooPooOnMars Wed 12-Sep-12 22:33:56

I don't think sage and onion stuffing is too bad really. I LOVE that stuff!

PooPooOnMars Wed 12-Sep-12 22:34:54

(no one else has noticed my non fat face yet, perhaps Im deluding myself)

I don't think people tend to comment on how fat your face is or isn;t looking smile can be touchy

I got a "thinner round the face" comment from a friend, and a "wow, you go in at the middle!" [proud] Perhaps I just have very forthright friendsgrin.
I have a cold (again), it comes of hanging round with snotty toddlers all day. I'll have a quiet day on the sofa and try to rest it off before Saturday, which is very busy. I could do without a cold then.
Our combined weight loss is more than any one of our individual weightsgrin.

PooPooOnMars Thu 13-Sep-12 08:07:57

A few months ago a friend was talking about a friend of theirs who always puts weight straight on their face and then looked at me . . . and lingered just that bit too long!

MilkshakeMaker Thu 13-Sep-12 08:48:32

Well its mid week weigh in and i'm still the same as monday.. I guess its good to maintain rather than put on but was really hoping to loose a lb and be at a milestone (would have been 11.7 if i had)

Oh well, Should get off my arse and do some exercise really!!

KatoPotato Thu 13-Sep-12 09:45:03

Good morning! I have Pilates pain (but I did a beastin shoulder stand and a three minute plank) and its fast day! Gulp!

Love that everyone like the spreadsheet! Thanks to pnut for correcting my bum formulae! Haven't we done well! smile

Milkshake... Try weighing on a Friday... I'm converted! (and only Friday!)

Well I just had a big try on of all the clothes in my wardrobe and had a bit of a clear out. I wish I'd done this last week when I was just starting to fall off the wagon and it's given me a huge incentive to get back on it. I've got some work bits that fit but others that would look and feel much better if I lost 7 or 8 pounds.

TOWTH, thanks for the kick grin Much appreciated!

I've got a friend coming round for lunch today and after that I am back on MFP and back to feeling motivated and back in the zone! RAWH! (War cry against my fat face!)

Kato three minutes shock. Thats bloody good going. My longest was 90 seconds and I'd probably do about 20 if I tried to do it now.

Anyway off to aqua aerobics. Wish me luck! smile

KatoPotato Thu 13-Sep-12 10:59:42

Wahhh!! Scary face!!

Wardrobe clear outs rock

KatoPotato Thu 13-Sep-12 11:00:19

I did a fair few five second drop to knees though...

Good luck Hair , I will not be exercising today, I spent 10 minutes psyching myself up to walk to the kitchen for a cup of tea.

KatoPotato Thu 13-Sep-12 11:07:47

Good luck hair aqua aerobics sounds fun and tough!

reastie Thu 13-Sep-12 12:26:50

Theonewiththehair how was aqua aerobics? Hope you enjoyed it.

kato wow to the 3 mins of plank - I only managed 20 seconds before I collapsed at the gym on Tuesday blush

My work timetable has altered slightly, it means in a few weeks I may be able to do bodypump before work once a week - I've done it a little a few years ago and remember it was a bit scary hard even with teeny weights - anyone here that does it? Can someone who really isn't very fit at all and very overweight manage it?

MumOfAPickle Thu 13-Sep-12 12:45:22

Afternoon all. Well done all on exercise classes and wardrobe clear-outs. I've just come back from a morning out with DD and I'm ravenous. I mean like properly, weak at the knees hungry. This is my main problem with dieting, I can't get from meal to meal without feeling starving inbetween and then my motivation crumbles. So, I've had a packet of M&S popcorn (2 points) and am now battling not to wolf down the rest of DD's cheese toastie. I'm going to put her to bed & then do davina dvd & then eat lunch. This thread is definitely help motivate me! What time for weigh in tomorrow?

I felt a bit better this afternoon, so cycled to the drum shop to sort out DS's birthday present for Monday.
The shop closed at lunchtimesad.
I'm exhausted now, and haven't actually achieved anything through wearing myself out.
At least I got some exercise today <grasps at straws> I hate colds, how can tiny viruses floor me so easily?

Afternoon all.

I hope you feel better soon IMST. I hate having a cold. sad

Well aqua aerobics was great. I loved it but I think my arms will be dead tomorrow! It wasn't too hard though but I feel really up for having done some proper exercise iyswim.

I met two lovely women there who have encouraged me to do a body balance class before the aqua aerobics on Monday so I've booked in for two classes. shock hope I survive. Has anyone done body balance.

reastie they also said that body pump is a brilliant fat burner but not too bouncy.

Food wise I'm doing well this week so I really hope to see some reward for all my efforts. I may have to weigh before school rather than after on Monday now because that class is at 9:30.

MumOfAPickle Thu 13-Sep-12 14:17:16

Yes INST when I've got a cold all I want to do is curl up and eat so you're going great guns to have got on a bike! And absolutely just see it as an exercise session!
theonewiththehair 2 classes!? Right that's it I'm signing up for zumba <determined look in eyes>

grin Go for it!!

reastie Thu 13-Sep-12 14:31:59

theone I've nearly done body balance a few times at the gym but always chickened out as tbh I'm really not sure what it is - it sounds a bit like pilates???? Let me know what exactly it's like!

KatoPotato Thu 13-Sep-12 15:43:50

I do body pump on a Monday and I love it! Body balance is a mix of Pilates yoga and something else! It'll be core strength so expect planks!!!

reastie Thu 13-Sep-12 16:55:16

Kato how long did it take you on weekly body pump before you could walk down the stairs the next day without being in too much pain [bad flashbacks]

KatoPotato Thu 13-Sep-12 18:47:17

Three weeks tops! I'm actually a not disappointed when I do make it downstairs without incident! Do it!!

reastie Thu 13-Sep-12 19:41:11

Nut fluff - kato my MIL chilcare work issues have had a bit of a bashing today - won't be able to do bodypump pre work sad - could do it at week ends though hmm but I know that ones a popular one so will need to book in first thing this Saturday for the following week <sets alarm>

sleepychunky Thu 13-Sep-12 20:13:17

Hi all, just checking in after a couple of days of radio silence. Have been busy with work and DH working night shifts. A friend came round last night who I hadn't seen since the beginning of July before I started on MFP, and she instantly commented that I looked really good, so that was really nice smile
DH is on a night shift again tonight and I'm on my own, so have stuck Mamma Mia on the TV and just getting dinner ready (last night's leftovers!) and looking forward to just chilling out a bit.

Good morning everyonesmile,
I need to buy DS's present today (a drum kit), hopefully the weather will settle down before I go on my bike.
Who weighs today? Are Friday weights going under Monday's date on the spreadsheet?

MrsPnut Fri 14-Sep-12 06:52:56

Morning,
I need to weigh in this morning but right now I am watching the final Chris Moyles show on the red button and I don't know when I will be able to prise myself away.

That's good sleepychunky smile I am about to start a very busy time, funeral today sad then all hands to the pump for dd's birthday do on Sunday grin today - make Minnie mouse cake,.tomorrow - ice Minnie mouse cake!

MilkshakeMaker Fri 14-Sep-12 07:11:44

I've just checked and its 14 weeks till Xmas. 14 weigh ins left.

MilkshakeMaker Fri 14-Sep-12 07:12:25

Good luck for today stealth, hope it goes smoothly

Hope it goes ok today Stealth.

Another good day for me yesterday. I'm not putting what I've eaten because although it's low cal I think it's not particularly healthy. blush

shock Only 14 weeks. Omg!!

MrsPnut Fri 14-Sep-12 08:24:07

Hope it goes OK Stealth, thinking of you and your family.

I took a deep breath and weighed myself, I've lost 2 of the 3lb that i put on last week but I haven't been especially restrained this week. I start back at work on monday so that might stop the mid afternoon looking in the fridge.

Thanks everyone .
Well doe mrspnut!
Hair I am intrigued now, tell us, we won't judge much

MrsPnut Fri 14-Sep-12 09:21:05

I needed the loo after the school run so reweighed myself afterwards, have lost another 1lb. Never one to pass up an opportunity. grin

Well done MrsPnut. grin

<sigh>

Ok it has been

Breakfast: Belvita
Afternoon snack: breakfast bar
Dinner: a proper meal

Very, very lacking in vitamins. I've not had any fruit since the satsumas earlier in the week.

Sound like me smile btw I have defected to the kellogs breakfast biscuits. Nicer imo.

eightytwenty Fri 14-Sep-12 09:55:15

Good luck stealth. Hope birthday a distraction.

On phone do can't so spreadsheet but happily now at 12st 6 1/2 lb. navigated the hotel lunch and avoided cakes (minus one small biscuit - oh and another on the flight home), though did go to the best Indian in the world for old times sake - rasa.

Now got to get through the weekend. So muh nicer to see a loss rather than a regain.

Have a good weekend all.

KatoPotato Fri 14-Sep-12 10:09:19

I've added my 2lb loss! to the spreadsheet! Yesterday was a fast day that was taking bites out of DS's aldi pizza and half his pom bears with a protein shake breakfast...

No exercise yesterday though.

Well you've done so well Stealth that I shall take heart.

Off to bed now. (working last night) I'm out for my wedding anniversary tonight but I feel I will make good choices. Have a good day everyone.

KatoPotato Fri 14-Sep-12 10:26:29

Gah sorry Stealth, didn't notice funeral day sad Hope it all goes as well as can be expected.

I'm taking Mum and 88yr Nana to Leeds (from Glasgow) on Monday to my Uncle's Funeral. Should be a hoot - We get to ride the assistance buggy!

KatoPotato Fri 14-Sep-12 10:49:22

OMG... Just found this site:

http://foodgawker.com/

reastie Fri 14-Sep-12 13:56:34

<salivates at foodgawker.com>

stealth hope it's going OK. Thinking of you.

Weighed myself this morning and finally in the 14 stones - just - 14 st 13 3/4 lbs! I did have a dodgy tummy in the night though so I'm not logging it quite yet on the spread sheet - will wait and see in the next couple of days what I am

kato hope Monday goes OK

MrsPnut Fri 14-Sep-12 15:00:09

Foodgawker looks great but the recipe I really want to try uses 2 boxes of cake mix sad I have never bought a box of cake mix and I am not about to start.

I'll have to have a tinker about and see if I can replicate them using proper ingredients.

reastie Fri 14-Sep-12 15:23:39

Which one is it mrspnut ?

MrsPnut Fri 14-Sep-12 15:40:08

I made a drum kit cake for DS's birthday (pic on my profile).
He doesn't know I made him a cake, it'll be a surprise, he does know about the real drum kit they're picking up tomorrow.
I'm 12 6 this morning, will see what I am on Monday.
I did lots of cycling today then negated it with a cheese and ham panini but didn't eat any cake or icing while I was making the cake.
I may have a slice of chocolate cake later, it's been in the cupboard since Tuesday, I actually forgot it was theregrin How times have changed!

MrsPnut Fri 14-Sep-12 16:17:47

That looks great IMST, I hope he loves it. grin

KatoPotato Fri 14-Sep-12 16:28:32

Brilliant IMST... on both counts!

It's fab IMST! smile

reastie Fri 14-Sep-12 18:14:55

IMST how inventive - love it grin

mrspnut never seen anything like those <wipes drool>

Bleugh, going to be in the gym hideously early tomorrow. I am not a morning person, but if it means not waiting for the bus in the cold, I'll tolerate the early start.

LV hope your gym session went well.

Good morning everyonesmile
I feel better in myself today, but nobody told my nose I'm better, it's streaming like anything.
I have a training day at work today, I'll be the one sniffing and nose blowing at the back sad.
Still, at least I'm going on a car-based treasure hunt afterwards, and I get to see DS's new drum kit all set up in his room (he's very excited, he roped DD into helping tidy his floor shock without being asked).
What do you lot have planned today?

KatoPotato Sat 15-Sep-12 09:03:54

I'm spinning at 1030... Need to dig deep!!

MilkshakeMaker Sat 15-Sep-12 09:16:00

Morning!

I've been really really good thurs and yesterday, Dp is at a wedding in the middle of nowhere this weekend so predicting a well behaved weekend too as he won't be around to wave forbidden foods in front of me.

We're going on holiday next week and I really don't want to have a week off but sort of feel it ruins it if I'm cal counting, what do you wonderful ladies suggest?

Spinning?? Body Pump?? You lot are far, far more adventurous than me, walk and occasional bike ride to work is hard work for me!

I've not been to the gym yet, had to do some little bits first. Weighed myself and think I'll be celebrating on Monday smile

Love the drum kit cake - hope he likes the real thing too smile
MM I'm the same. I do (or rather did) shred, but my only other real exercise was when I used to leave my car at work and walk to my hotel in the centre of york, then the opposite the next morning. As the nights get darker though, won't be doing that much from now.
Funeral went well, it was a lovely service and they had some fantastic pictures of him up. But I couldn't get over the fact that he should have been there boring everyone with his stories about when he came off his motorbike and had to have plates in his leg, or when he had his ear cut open to remove a lump (he enjoyed the medical stories smile). I also got upset when the vicar talked about ending his pain and suffering, yes, he was obviously suffering at the end but I felt that was something he said in every funeral of an elderly person, and my grandpa was not, in general, in pain or suffering. He loved life. Apparently the "climbing on the roof of his caravan" thing was in August.
Anyway, sorry to be so depressing. Diet was off yesterday, off again today and will be off tomorrow blush as it's DD's party. Never mind, back on to it on Monday with a vengeance!
Kato, hope Monday goes OK, sounds like a very long journey for you as well.

KatoPotato Sat 15-Sep-12 13:03:34

Morning everyone! Spin done! It was a different instructor and I actually thought I might pass out but thankfully everyone did and the consensus was that it was a toughy!

Stealth, I fear a bit of generic funeral chat pops up every time and I hope our fella treads carefully on Tuesday! Train tickets have cost a bomb! I'm at a calorie deficit this afto so reckon a v light lunch and a treaty dinner!

I went to the gym, and did some extra walking round town with my boyfriend smile Which is good because we shared a pizza for lunch blush but we didn't eat it all so there's hope for Monday still smile

reastie Sat 15-Sep-12 18:39:59

Could I please thank kato as I was all set to put off the gym till tomorrow then saw her post saying she was digging deep for spin today so thought if she can manage so can I and I did an epic workout burning 460 kcals (I have no idea if this is alot for fit people, but for me it's a pb). I even managed the plank for 30 seconds non stop (again, rubbish for fit people but good for me)

stealth I'm so glad everything went 'well' (if it can go well).

Today was a crappy food day, bacon sandwich for breakfast, training at work, they provided sandwiches, then the treasure hunt ended with chips as the only food choice, and a free Freddie chocolate for taking part.
Still under 1200 cals but more by small portions than nutrition.
Back onto proper food tomorrow.

KatoPotato Sat 15-Sep-12 20:29:31

Well done reastie I think that's a mighty impressive calorie burn! I hate nearly dying on the cardio wave and seeing I've only burned like 88 cals!!

And there's no shame in dropping to knees for 5 secs to recover during planks! X

sleepychunky Sat 15-Sep-12 22:45:51

Hi everyone,

Well done reastie - isn't it good how just reading someone else's efforts makes you more determined not to just say "sod it, I can't be bothered today?" Hooray for us!
Completely didn't eat anything all day until 5pm blush food sort of passed me by as I was so busy. Have now caught up though but still under 900 cals for the whole day. Have been in pure heaven watching Strictly tonight well except for any bit of it where I have to listen to Bruce or Tess, which unfortunately means most of the show and can't wait for Downton tomorrow. No chance of getting me off the sofa for any exercise on Sat or Sun nights between now and Christmas!

KatoPotato Sat 15-Sep-12 22:49:34

Sleepy I had a bit of a boogie with DS to strictly tonight! And as he weighs less than I've lost I'm amazed I find it tricky to dance with him in arms for any length of time!

I also made it through the day on a protein shake and a teaspoon of pb! Have more than made up with an epic Chinese feast!

Good morning everyonesmile, Happy Sunday!
I'm having a quiet day to rest off the tail end of my cold. I am in charge of food today (so it will be proper home cooked food with vegetables in).
DS loves his drum kit, we got practice pads to mute the sound for the sake of ourselves the neighboursgrin. He doesn't know about the cake, but he did let me have 2 of his flying saucer sweets to use as cymbals on the cake "for some craft I'm doing".
The treasure hunt was great, we came second last, I got drenched (driving round the block holding a bowl of water), a stranger photographed us all inside the same phone box, we were pipped to the post on the "enormous cucumber" front when someone had a 19"er.
An odd day, but lots of fun.

MrsPnut Sun 16-Sep-12 08:05:53

Morning.

IMST, that does sound like fun.
Reastie - well done for gyming it.

Yesterday was a bit of a write off, I had quite a healthy breakfast then sandwiches for lunch at belton house but because we had to return DD1's school shoes after I got back, I was persuaded to have fish and chips for dinner. It was delicious but not on my menu plan.

Back to it today, with roast chicken, veg, and yorkshires.

Today was a good food day.
Pasta omelette for lunch (like Spanish omelette with pasta instead of potato)
Salmon stir fry with noodles for dinner.
Planning a glass or two of wine later too.

BonkeyMollocks Sun 16-Sep-12 18:31:09

Well its my time of the month nd i am.fighting a losing battle with my eating.

Bastard hormones just want me to eat sad

Gah ! I have a few good days and then fuck it up angry

Dh is not helping either buy bringing home chocolate most nights he works. I think we need.to have words!

reastie Sun 16-Sep-12 18:34:52

bonkey I know the feeling - hormones raging here too. If you're anything like me a couple of days and it will settle down - just put down the chocolate and get something else to munch on!!

Everything progressing slowly here still - tried wearing a pair of size 18 trousers I found in the cupboard today - wayyyyy too tight and admitted defeat an hour later for my size 20's - one day I will make it in to size 18.....then I'll be one step closer to size 16 grin [glass half full]

KatoPotato Sun 16-Sep-12 18:50:54

You sure will reastie! I was there this time last year!!

reastie Sun 16-Sep-12 18:51:32

<excited voice> my engagement ring fits again grin . this is a big deal - I ahven't been able to wear it for nearly 2 years as my fingers have been too fat. Wedding ring still too small as it's half a size smaller than engagement but I'll get there I won't mention that my finger throbs with the ring on as it's a bit tight as I'm so excited that it will just fit on my finger again

reastie Sun 16-Sep-12 18:52:05

xposted - thanks kato

KatoPotato Sun 16-Sep-12 18:55:51

<high five> but not too powerful what with sore finger- that ring will be spinning round your finger soon enough!

KatoPotato Sun 16-Sep-12 18:56:49

Oh and a bittersweet 'non scales victory' my funeral dress is a size 14.

sad Kato tho good it is a size 14
Rrastie that is brilliant grin
Love the sound of pasta omellete what else do you put in? Can't stand potato in omellete but that sounds lovely

Cook pasta in stock then drain. Chop peppers, spring onions, add peas, eggs.
Bake the lot in a greased metal frying pan, ideally with grill and oven at once, until it all goes brown and lovely.

thatlldopigthatlldo Sun 16-Sep-12 19:08:24

stealth, are you on MFP?

thatlldopigthatlldo Sun 16-Sep-12 19:29:00

ok,i'm in. what do we do on this thread then?

i've lost 8lbs in the past month since deciding to get my arse into gear.

need another good week this week.

This thread is not about a fancy pants weight loss regime, we eat less, move more, do our own thing really. It's mostly a support forum.
We help each other back on the wagon, offering sympathy or a kick up the bum whenever appropriate.
We celebrate losses, move on from slip ups, and keep going to get excess weight off and keep it off.
Not because society says, because we want to.
It sounds a bit militant there, we're nice really.

Thanks imst, sounds lovely and a good way to get pasta fix without too much pasta!
Hi pig smile general chat and support plus arse kickibgs and no excuses! Why are you losing weight and how much do you hope to lose? 8lb in a month is a brilliant start, well done

thatlldopigthatlldo Sun 16-Sep-12 21:04:30

i want to lose weight and get fit so i can enjoy exercise like i used to, so that i can where the clothes i like, rather than what looks ok on me, and so i can be a healthy.
yup 8lbs gone after 4 weeks. nice and steady 1-3lbs per week. so i feel like i'm on the right track now.

eightytwenty Sun 16-Sep-12 21:43:36

Fabby weekend but terrible eating! Home made cheesecake and 2 slices of homemade millionaires shortcake. AND the most amazing dinner cooked by best caterers in london (Alison price - if you're in same league as her majesty, David Cameron or George Michael).

Worth falling off the wagon for and will be extra good in penance.

reastie Mon 17-Sep-12 06:45:25

<does a little dance> weigh in this morning - 2lbs lost grin , and, I'm still wearing my engagement ring - the throbbing has stopped now. It keeps glinting it's diamond at me grin

eighty wow - dinner cooked by such amazing caterers? Lucky you envy - what did you have?

<waves to that > this thread is fab - I joined a month or so ago and it's really helped me get back to it when otherwise I would have given up

IMST has your DS now seen the drum cake? What did he think?

Not yet, we're waiting until DH wakes up.
I added silver balls, a pedal and a stool yesterday, it looks pretty darn cool if I do say so myselfgrin.

reastie Mon 17-Sep-12 07:23:36

Second excitement of the day - I'm wearing a size 18 dress grin grin - I've been trying it on every week for a couple of months and last week it was nearly there but the zip wouldn't do up - today it does just . I'm feeling very proud of myself (and excited that I have something else to wear despite the fact it's a bit tight in the chest area !).

PooPooOnMars Mon 17-Sep-12 07:47:02

Wtf! Weighed myself this morning and i appear to have put 2lb on! Seeing as Im eating 1200 calories a day how is that even possible?

(hoping i just need a giant poo)

Morning everyone.

Happy birthday to your ds IMST. Did you show him the drum cake yet? smile

reastie well done you. That's a great boost for an MM morning.

mars strange thing about this thread is that we've all had weeks where we've tried really hard and gained and then fallen off the wagon and lost. I bet your hard work shows on your next weigh in. Don't give up! smile

I'm now 11st 7lbs. I'm really happy to have got to the half way point to get to 11st. After weeks of stalling I feel I'm getting somewhere at last. Also I have body balance and aqua aerobics today so that will help too.

marriedinwhite Mon 17-Sep-12 08:08:47

Oh well done reastie

WW tonight. I am hoping the scales will say I have lost 1/2lb. Not done too well this week.

BonkeyMollocks Mon 17-Sep-12 08:18:44

Weigh in: No loss no gain .

How the hell do I get away with it? confused

Im going to give the fast day another go I think. Dh is working tonight so it will be easier.
If i fail with that then at least I will be back on cals like last time!

Have a good MM everyone!!!!

BonkeyMollocks Mon 17-Sep-12 08:19:45

Well done all the losers! smile

Poo Probably just water. It will be off at next weigh in if you stick with oysters!

BonkeyMollocks Mon 17-Sep-12 08:20:16

Ffs stick with *it ! hmm

Flojo1979 Mon 17-Sep-12 08:22:40

Can I join....again blush
It's proving much harder than I thought it would be to stay focussed and stop compulsive eating in the evenings.

PooPooOnMars Mon 17-Sep-12 08:24:00

Was thinking i needed to eat lots of oysters then! grin

Hi again Flojo and welcome - what exactly are you struggling with?
reastie, that is brilliant grin Well done!
Poopoo, I agree with Hair, we've all complained about that in the past, it's your body trying to fool you into thinking screw this and filling it full of all the things you fncy. DO NOT GIVE IN. You will get there smile
Hair, well done. I am 3lb above you and desperate to get to the stage where I refer to myself as eleven and a half stone rather than just under 12 iyswim.
married, is that a half or one or two?
Bonkey, me too - I have eaten everything I've wanted since Friday. Today I am still 11lb10 which is wonderful. But am I? Or are a couple of lb lurking somewhere ready to pounce when I least expect it? Seriously - if I've eaten the food and my weight is still the same, can I assume it's not suddenly going to catch me?
I am so tempted by the fast days but really don't think I could, I am going to attempt to have a week where I stick to 900/1000 cals though - not having put anything on has really motivated me. This time next week i could be 11 and a half stone. I have 6 weeks in which to lose 10lb.

yes, lol at the oysters - what on earth happened there? grin

Just realied I need to meal plan - thats where I'm going to fall down if I don't

OK breakfast each day: an egg
Lunch each day: ryvita/houmous/cucumber thing
Dinner - tonight: TBC
Tuesday: TBC
Wednesday: TBC
Thursday (work): pasta, cheese, mayo salad
Friday (way back from work): edamame bean noodle salad

sleepychunky Mon 17-Sep-12 11:07:11

Weigh in for me - 1lb loss smile so 21lb in total. I did dip down to 22lb during the week but that was unofficial and I'm hoping it will ping off next week. Off to zumba again tonight. Is somebody updating the Google spreadsheet for us all or shall we do it ourselves?

thatlldopigthatlldo Mon 17-Sep-12 11:26:05

well done sleepy,
I'm in a predicament. Am recovering from surgery (dental) and am really restricted in what i can eat, in fact everything other than ice cream and marshmallows is painful. I also can't exercise til this has all settled down.
Trying hard not to comfort eat but can't eat my usual diet that's been working for me for the last month and having to have a rethink.

soup soup and more soup? hmm

also the codeine and tramadol are playing havoc with my digestive system.

meh. motivate me please.

nochipsthanks Mon 17-Sep-12 11:28:33

Morning all. 1 pound on for me this week (had a massive roast dinner last night with all trimmings, so hoping it is that....).

I feel so dispirited and keep losing motivation, so this week I am trying to make just small changes which hopefully add up to a regular weightloss.

So I am going to do a food aim, a drink aim and an exercise aim, and then not think about things beyond achieving those things. This week;

Food aim - to have 'green juice' only until noon. (I am juicing a cucumber, lettuce, knob of ginger, two apples and a lemon and drinking that. It tastes okay, and I think my skin is noticeably clearer).

Drink aim: To drink 6 pints water a day. (And to have achieved that before I drink any wine).

Exercise aim: to do at least 30 minutes exercise every day.

That is all. I think I can do that. If I can lose just a pound a week I would be thrilled.

shuffles in quietly

I am back on it after a three day trip to France with work that involved steak, mussels, chips and a whole tonne of wine and ice cream. And then this weekend of drinking and cake consumption. Sigh. I haven't dared weigh myself but am starting the 5:2 thing today to try and kick start it all again. Ugh.

Well done to you all for having far greater willpower and control than me!

Weighed in this morning.

12 stone 11 pounds.

Soooooo.... drumroll

I've lost half a stone!

Yay! Day off today, got some personal admin stuff to do, forms for volunteering at CAB mostly, so tomorrow will be a case of, go to the jobcentre, get my nails done, then go and hand the forms in, go to the fabric shop for wool, then go to the gym smile

PooPooOnMars Mon 17-Sep-12 11:44:40

Yay lollipop!

Well done LV
Welcome back littlemiss, sounds like you had a good time grin
nochips, how much of that "green juice" do you drink? And does it really taste OK?
Pig, not sure, sorry. How long is recovery likely to take?
sleepy, thanks for reminding me about the spreadsheet, is today the official day - suppose it is MM grin

nochipsthanks Mon 17-Sep-12 12:42:14

Hi Stealth. I currently drink a half pint of the green juice. When I first started I was over enthusiastic and started by drinking a pint, and I got the most dreadful stomach pains, bloating and [whispers] gas. So I scaled it right back to a 1/4 of a pint for several days and now I have half a pint and I am fine. About 3 weeks doing this now, and I really do think my skin looks better.

It does taste quite good. This morning was not the best one, because I used a whole head of romaine lettuce. That was a bit stong. But the two apples and the juice of a lemon cuts through the 'green taste' which I know puts people off. So it tastes pretty refreshing. I sometimes top it up with coconut water, or just tap water. I like the thought of getting a whole lot of lovely nutrients first thing in the day with no fuss!

nochipsthanks Mon 17-Sep-12 12:45:21

(Plus I hope it outweighs the hotdog I am having for lunch)

grin

Am tempted to give it a go...how long does that all last?

nochipsthanks Mon 17-Sep-12 12:54:36

How long did the pain last? That lasted about a week, but I think if you start on a small amount it would be fine. (actually, the raw detox website I got it off recommends you start on 8 fluid ounces. Typically for me, i launched in with an 'all or nothing' mindset and nearly scuppered myself! I was so bloated that DH looked at me and said 'you know, you are actually fatter'.). It has settled down now. I feel it when I skip a day, and feel quite energised after it.

We have a 20 year old juicer so I am not sure how effiecient it is, but the above quantities of veg makes pretty much bang on a half pint.

A whole cucumber and a whole lettuce and two apples....half a pint?? Really? I thought you were going to say you kept a jug in the fridge for a week!

nochipsthanks Mon 17-Sep-12 12:58:44

Yep! I know!! I was buying 7 cucumbers and 7 lettuces in one go last week.

I do think our juicer is not too efficient though, as the bits it chucks out (the fibires) seem pretty wet.

Afternoon all. You've been having a good old chinwag this morning haven't you?
grin

Well I went to my classes and I know I will feel it tomorrow. Bonus is that I walked there and back too.

It did make me so hungry though and I've just had a jacket potato, cheese not that much and beans. No butter. I'm so confused about calories and low carb etc that I have no idea if that's high calorie or low. Help please. smile

Hullo all,

Nice to read back at some of the successes people have had over the past couple of days. Horaay for exercise classes, smaller clothes, rings that fit and lower numbers on the scales. I'm riding on the coat tails of your success but feeling the power of a motivational monday.

I go back after mat leave on weds sad I need to pack a little stash of healthy, low GI snacks to nibble on during the working day, to keep me awake and stop me buying chocolate. I'm thinking peanut butter, oatcakes, almonds. Any other suggestions??

Pitta bread
Olives
Cherry tomatoes

pickled onions good for savoury craving

I'm in a bit of a dilemma - I've just put my dinner in MFP and I'm on just over 600 cals today - shall I cut my bread portion down a bit and do the 5:2 thing?

Only if you think you won't get hungry and snack later.

It was ok for me I think today. I've not stopped moving so that has to count for something! smile

Has ds enjoyed his birthday IMST?

Oh and IMST are you on an early or late shift tomorrow?

I had some of my Aunt's pasta salad as no one else wanted it. It had loads of veg in it but it was pasta, and has pushed me well over the 500 limit, but was worth it smile I'm currently on 730 cals.

BonkeyMollocks Mon 17-Sep-12 19:03:56

Evening,
I'm have had 2 crumpets with 2 eggs -400 cals

A homemade fresh banana milkshake (which may well become my new diet food of choice!) for 182 cals

Providing i can stick 582 cals is bloody good for me at the moment!

You know I promised a photo of me at my friend's wedding?

Here it is!

MumOfAPickle Mon 17-Sep-12 19:49:33

Evening ladies, been a busy week-end but weighed in this morning and I'd lost 1lb! So hurrah! So back on it for this week but had cake for breakfast this morning blush It's my DD's 2nd birthday on Thursday so had a little party this morning then we're out for dinner Thursday & then a bigger family party on Sunday. Basically if I get through this week without putting on any weight it will be a miracle so I need you lot to make sure I'm super good on the days when I can be.

Can I ask how you all deal with special occasions? Are good? Do you say fuck it? And if you do eat cake or whatever do you record it all or just record up to your limit and forget the rest grin

Thanks for your snack suggestions.

I've had a good day as a 2 different people have commented on me looking slim. I haven't actually lost any weight since I'd seen them last probably put on to be completely honest but it was very nice to hear. I'm sure it was down to the fact I bought some new clothes at the weekend and I was also fitted for new bras! After reading a thread on here, I went to Debenhams rather than M&S. What a revelation! I'll never go back to M&S ever again.

Lollipop you look fab!

Pickle, I find it easier to get back on track the next day if I've recorded my excess on special occasions. It's often not as bad as I think but even if it is, somehow it helps me keep focus by recording it.

PooPooOnMars Mon 17-Sep-12 20:09:37

Looking lovely lollipop smile Who's the chap?

The chap is my lovely boyfriend of nearly 11 months smile

PooPooOnMars Mon 17-Sep-12 20:23:18

Ooh-oh! smile

MumOfAPickle Mon 17-Sep-12 20:33:00

Sorry meant to say well done to INST, kato, sleepy, hair, Pnut, reastie & lollipop on all your losses and lardbean is that a 5lb loss I see?! Huge congrats you should be very proud smile

Must interrupt to say I've lost the equivalent of an average house cat and I'm now UK on the global fat scale. grin

Lollipop you look lovely in that picture and so does your bf.

Well done everyone who lost today!!

LardBean Mon 17-Sep-12 21:27:52

Well done everyone who lost this week. I really need to get off my arse exercise wise. I vowed to swim 3 times this week... not squeezed the lard into lycra yet....

marriedinwhite Mon 17-Sep-12 21:38:55

Phew 1/2lb down but I didn't eat today blush. You looked lovely Lollipop.

sleepychunky Mon 17-Sep-12 22:12:57

Well done everyone else who lost this week - I sort of wish weigh-in was Tuesday as I do zumba on Monday night which always make the scales very friendly on a Tuesday!
The DSs decided they wanted to weigh themselves after their bath tonight and I realised that if I lose another stone then I will have lost an entire DS2! Considering how heavy he is to carry (he's 2.10) that's quite a target but it's given me something else to aim for although, thinking about it, by the time I've lost another stone he will probably have put on weight so I will be on a constant race to catch up

Hair late shift, and DS had a great birthday. We went to Giraffe for dinner, they gave him a huge sorbet for pudding, he actually looked full!
He loved the cake, noticed all the details and everythinggrin.
I'm still getting my head round the fact my little boy is 11 though shock

Awww. It sounds great IMST. No sympathy for 11yrs as I have one of 16 now!! grin

MrsPnut Tue 18-Sep-12 06:52:42

Morning, I have read back but I've got my head up my arse at the moment and haven't got time to reply to everyone.

I started work yesterday for the first time in a few months, and after a lovely summer, woke up with a really sore throat yesterday morning.
My voice is going and I can feel the rivers of snot starting. sad
I did eat pretty well yesterday, I took only healthy food to work and had dinner but no snacks then was in bed by 7pm.

Good morning <hands giant box of tissues to mrsPnut >
Busy day yesterday, TOTM (great start to the dayhmm)
early shift at work, went to the bike shop on the way home to collect DH's mudguards, time for a cup of tea then out for dinner for DS's birthday. Got back at 8, then straight out again to bible study group.
Is it any wonder I was singing "I don't like Mondays" on the way back from it?
At least I was careful with food, I had a small lunch so I could have a quesadilla for dinner.

Hi everyone smile MrsPNut, hope you're feeling a bit better soon
Happy birthday to IMST's DS! My DD is 3 today smile

Happy birthday to stealthPolarCubgrin

LardBean Tue 18-Sep-12 11:56:59

Woo Hoo! Reached a stone lost today! Rather hungry but Woo hoo anyway grin

Happy birthday to your cub stealth. Three is a brilliant age!!

How is everyone doing today. I know it's only Tuesday but I think I'm doing ok. Dh is out 3 nights this week so food is not difficult. He's slowly getting used to the fact that I eat less than him but he's not got his head around 'healthy' yet.

Kato I hope today is ok for you and goes as well as can be expected.

I'm happy, DS gave me one of his drum cakes for lunch, I had homemade (dairy free) fish pie, and it was nice, but now my mouth is all cakey and I can still taste icing, I feel lovelygrin.
Is it sad that I'm really looking forward to a long soak in the bath after I get the DCs to bed?
Hair how did your Pilates class go?

thanks IMST smile

Woo hoo LardBean, that is fantastic!

Oh! My! God! shock

Pilates is so hard. I am really going to hurt tomorrow. I did ok but I can't sit up slowly without using my arms. blush

Just had Belvita and a cereal bar today. Cottage pie for dinner. smile

LardBean Tue 18-Sep-12 14:13:22

Thanks Stealth, hope you are enjoying the cub's birthday.
InMySpareTime not sad at all, me too!

reastie Tue 18-Sep-12 16:09:42

Please will someone hold my hands down? There is a chocolate chip muffin in the kitchen with my name on. It's gluten free left over from a lesson earlier (I'm gluten free so never ever eat cakes). It's been so long since a gluten free cake has been in sniffing distance from me I'm really struggling. I might have to force DH to eat it.

Due to go to the gym after work today but epic fail as AF is literally gushing today (sorry for TMI) and I really can't face exercise. I haven't been able to sit down in my lessons as it all gushes when I stand up again blush . Not good. Parents evening tonight too - don't think I can manage that one standing up wink

lardbean well done you

kato hope everything has gone OK

stealth and IMST happy birthdays to your households

lollipop lovely photo. I love your dress btw grin

Reastie are you likely to be able to 'afford' it later on?

reastie Tue 18-Sep-12 16:21:17

No! I must resist!! I've asked DH to eat it - he didn't want it but I forced him!

Lol! Well done at the willpower. I always think muffins look lovely but never live up to expectations - always a bit dry. So you wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as you think you would anyway

LardBean Tue 18-Sep-12 16:33:21

Well done Reastie and MrReastie!

Well, having congratulated you on your willpower, I've been picking at dds birthday cake. Yoiu know , just neatening up the edges etc. I WILL log it.

Flojo1979 Tue 18-Sep-12 17:57:30

Hi, sorry I did my usual, join and run!
I must try harder, I lost a stone by being really ill for a couple of wks and crept it back on again.
My trouble is I've somehow associated watching tv with eating and now its like I can't sit down to watch tellys without popping in the kitchen for things to eat, regardless of what it is. Then I have days when I think, sod it, I'm fat, might as well buy that cake/crisp/dessert and enjoy it.

"sod it, I'm fat, might as well buy that cake/crisp/dessert and enjoy it"
I had years of that sad but you have proved to yourself that if you eat less you can lose weight (though I'm glad you're no longer ill of course!). By Christmas you could have lost a stone fairly easily but you do have to eat less, starting now.
(take that as a kick up the bum you didn't ask for, and if you didn't want it, just ignore me grin But that sounded so familiar. I always promised I'd lose weight at some point in the future, but that point never magically arrived by itself).

MrsPnut Wed 19-Sep-12 06:49:15

Well done Reastie.

I am so ill that I should be ringing a bell and shouting unclean, unclean wherever I go - but I will drag myself into work as it's only my 3rd day.

I had a couple of glasses of wine and some chocolate last night for medicinal purposes.

<hands another giant box of tissues and a bell to MrsPnut grin>
Good morning all, today will be a good exercise day, I'm gardening at work, cutting back all the shrubs and climbers etc. 7 hours of gardening should come to a fair few calories, I may have a wine later.
Hair how are you feeling after Pilates? Do you have the classic "punched in the stomach" feeling now? That shows you've done it rightsmile.

Morning all. I'm not going to the gym today I'm cleaning my house instead. <yawn>

Hope you feel better soon MrsPnut.

Flojo have you thought about learning to knit to keep you occupied in front of the telly? If you keep your hands busy you may not want to snack.

IMST everything aches!!

Keep focused today everyone! smile

Flojo1979 Wed 19-Sep-12 08:18:42

Thanx stealth a kick up the bum is just what I do need!

TheOne I did actually learn to knit for this reason but then I chose something complicated to do and found I couldn't knit and watch tv at same time so its been sat in a bag for months.
I must buy some wool for a scarf!

I tried Pilates last wk, I thought it might be nice gentle stretches, oh how wrong could I be! It really hurt!

Hope u r feeling better soon MrsPnut

Morning everyone - No Wibble Wednesday!

Right you lot. I think it's time for a group challenge.

In the spirit of moving more I have a challenge for you ALL!

It doesn't require any special equipment except a letter box, clothes or DVDs. You can do it at home. It changes everyday and you don't need to make special time for it.

If anyone's interested ill let you know what it is. grin

nochipsthanks Wed 19-Sep-12 13:06:35

I'm in!

Ok, but not today, I have so far spent 3.5 hours ripping out an enormous clematis at work. I can't take much more exercise today.

Haha. IMST I text your dh before to see if he could help me take a radiator off in dd's room. He said yes but volunteered you as you are around earlier than him.

It's a good job I got impatient and did it myself. It was bloody heavy! grin

Intriguing theone - do tell smile

I am on my second fast since deciding to do the 5:2 thing. Feeling surprisingly ok, though I have the mega challenge tonight of making a cheesecake my friend has requested for her birthday dinner and not licking the bowl/my fingers/any handy surface. Chocolate peanut butter cheesecake at that...

reastie Wed 19-Sep-12 14:03:14

I'm intregues theone too - please tell all - I'm in grin
