GoingForGoalWeight Sun 11-Dec-11 23:04:48

I weigh over 25 stones. I expect to weigh more than this on New Years Day after all the festive scoff is over. grin

I am going to start the Cambridge Diet - Sole Source - on New Years Day.

I have found my Consultant and we have met, she lost 13 stones in 9 months and has kept the weight off for over 7 years!

4 Cambridge choc mint shakes per day.

3 - 4 litres of water per day.

Anybody else planning on starting The Cambridge Diet in 2012? Come join me and we can support each other.

TheScarlettPimpernel Mon 12-Dec-11 15:04:56

Hello - I am not planning to do the CD - though I could stand to lose a few pounds stone grin - but thought I would bump this for you in the hope someone comes along smile

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 12-Dec-11 19:14:32

Hi Scarlett smile

Thank you

Good luck for your weight loss journey smile

wherearemysocks Wed 14-Dec-11 01:05:49

I have done CD in the past, I don't know if you have found it but their website has a pretty good forum.

Good luck.

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 14-Dec-11 07:56:01

hi, yes i have a look at their forum from time to time, thank you smile

Overtiredmum Wed 14-Dec-11 18:51:04

I am rejoining in January, although not until 10th, when the kids are safely back at school grin

I have gained a stone in the 12 months, am currently 12st and am looking to finally lose the last 2 stone I have gained since having the DC.

Can I join you? Ax

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 14-Dec-11 19:01:48

Hi all are welcome, but i should have said in my OP that i can't support those whom 'cheat' or chat about food, this is going to be extremly difficult for me sad

I have started to cut down on all the crap i consume via eating fish, veg etc, an actual meal smile

FortynotFat Wed 14-Dec-11 19:12:06

me me me

I am 40 at the end of Aug 2012 and am going to start SS again to lose 7 stone by then.

I will not be fat and 40 I will not be fat and 40......

Have you done SS before ?

Overtiredmum Wed 14-Dec-11 19:17:13

I have done SS before, and love it. I can't wait to restart, but theres not much point starting now, as I can't do Christmas without the usual celebrations! I still aim to be good before though, in fact I have really restricted the treats I have got this year, in order to prepare myself!

January is a fab time to SS, as its a great detox, I always feel great by about Day 4, although always feel like a giant washing machine, sloshing as I walk along!!

I agree with GoingforGoal, I will not come on and talk about cheating or food. In RL, I am doing CD with a friend, so she will be my sounding block!

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 14-Dec-11 19:29:22

Hi welcome fortynotfat and overtiredmum smile

I haven't done The Cambridge Diet before.

I hate negative comments about any diet i'm currently doing sad

Is there a way of blocking an individual MN member via 'ignore' or 'block' button etc? smile

FortynotFat Wed 14-Dec-11 19:33:35

Just ignore negative comments.

I am glad you mentioned the washing machine thing overtired as I got that too.

I lost almost 2 stone last summer and felt great. I loved the 'headspace' you get from not having to plan or think about food and really enjoyed it.

Cant wait to get back on it. We can do it and would love a supportive thread

wakeupnow Wed 14-Dec-11 19:39:27

Fantastic thread!!! I'm 40 at the start of August & need a huge kick up the backside, have done Cambridge before & IT WORKED!!! Unfortunately dh got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer so it all went tits up sad
This time it'll work, I too will not be fat & 40!!!
GFGW thank-you for starting this thread, I'm going to need lots of support & would love to give you all loads too

Overtiredmum Wed 14-Dec-11 19:57:28

Absolutely, its hard to ignor the negative comments - unfortunately they are usually from people who have never needed to diet. I never told anyone I was doing CD until I was nearly at the end of my journey with it, at which stage I didn't care because, as Wakeup says, IT WORKS! I loved not having to sit down and work out what I was going to eat and how many points/calories etc I had toplay with. No choice, no problem. The only choice you have is to decide which flavour you are going to have!

I love CD, yes I have done it more than once, but only gained the weight again after falling pregnant with my DD. She is nearly 3 now, so have absolutely no excuse, and now DH has had the snip, I won't be getting pregnant again any time soon!

Again this time, the only people who know I will be doing it is my DH and my friend who will be joining me.

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 14-Dec-11 20:25:31

welcome wakeupnow smile

lets all wakeup and SHAKE the fat off - good eh, eh? smile

I shall be posting all my stats here on New Years Day, i want to SS until goal 12 months to get off stones and stones of fat smile

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 14-Dec-11 20:26:48

I envisage it will be extremly difficult at first sad

wakeupnow Wed 14-Dec-11 20:29:13

we will do this smile

FortynotFat Wed 14-Dec-11 20:42:57

yes we can do it. it will be hard but it works.

I am waiting to get appt with my consultant 1st week of Jan so dont know my start date yet.

I will wear a nice dress for my 40th party oh yes I will.

I have been overweight for all my adult life and a change is needed.

Overtiredmum Wed 14-Dec-11 20:45:44

GoingforGoal - I thought it would be very hard. I contemplated for months about starting CD as was worried how I would cope without food, if I would get dizzy etc, but I honestly felt great. You just need to make sure you keep up with the water, thats stops any hunger pangs!

My appointment is booked for 10 January, and I honestly can't wait.

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 14-Dec-11 20:51:12

Oh that is so positive smile My Consuktant is so positive smile but a bit nutty. i hope the diet doesn't do that to me, Consultant said my emotions might be a bit raw as i've always used food to comfort myself.

If allowed i will post before and after pics on my profile.

I've noticed on here so many threads go quiet or completly dead as people have stopped their diet.

I don't want to get to reliant on support here as i envisage being the only person here posting on this thread

a) because i have a colossal amount to lose and will be here longer than most anyway
b) because people will stop the diet

Overtiredmum Wed 14-Dec-11 21:04:12

Of course it will take time, but you will gain encouragement the more weight you lose, and the more comments you get from people when they start to notice!

There is also another good forum you can register with, which is (forgive me, I don't know how to post a link!) www dot minimins dot com. Lots of great advice and people all in the same boat.

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 14-Dec-11 21:08:37

It's the comments i dread as they ask How you lose weight? I can imagine that paert will drive me potty, not something i can hide, 25 stones to 10 stones grrrr

I use minimins sometimes too, just to read, thank you x smile

Overtiredmum Wed 14-Dec-11 21:36:23

You just have to remember, if it works for you, then thats all thats important. Just imagine how fabulous you will look and feel in the summer, it will all be worth it.

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 14-Dec-11 21:40:14

smile thank you overtired, you too x

FortynotFat Fri 16-Dec-11 07:08:48

well my start date is 4th Jan smile and I cant wait.

What are you doing over xmas - having a last blow out or being good with food ?

wakeupnow Fri 16-Dec-11 12:41:14

Forty that's a real toughie! TBH think I'll just blow it & that will help put me off eating for a while!!! How about every-one else?

GoingForGoalWeight Fri 16-Dec-11 12:46:03

Just eating smile food over Christmas. New Years day isn't far to go now ... [worried] it's going to be extremly tough as i quell emotions with junk food.

Overtiredmum Fri 16-Dec-11 21:03:36

I "plan" to be good, but who knows grin!!

A few days before you start CD, my counsellor always says to cut down on carbs and increase water so its not too much of a shock when you start SS.

FortynotFat Sat 17-Dec-11 08:50:17

I have been on a binge for a couple of weeks and feel terrible both physically and mentally now. Like overtired said I am planning to cut down to prepare and make me feel better.

GFGW you need to stop hiding behind food and prepare yourself mentally for how you are going to feel without it. Have some thought patterns in place.
On my last attempt when I felt like cheating I would have 'one meal/ sandwich etc etc wont hurt' thoughts but I tried to learn to turn them into 'I will feel so bad if I cheat / put on weight / dont lose weight' type patterns.
You will have to find what works for you. I am not an expert as I did not manage to lose all the weight last time but it takes a long time to unlearn all the eating patterns of behaviour.
Sheer willpower and positive thoughts can work and with the support of this thread and the counsellor we can do it.

I will not be fat and 40, I will not be fat and 40, I will not be fat and 40

Can you guess my mantra grin

wakeupnow Sat 17-Dec-11 10:18:46

Fortynot fat that's going to be my mantra too!!! You've given GFGW some really good tips.
On reflection think I need to control my eating over christmas rather than have the full blown pigout I'd planned.

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 17-Dec-11 15:40:27

Since the age of 17 ish I've drank 1.5 litres of water a day at least and can drink 3 - 4 litres in the summer. smile

I love water, get headaches without.

slalomsuki Mon 19-Dec-11 19:09:45

I'll join you too from the 1st January.

Stupidly did a week on it at the start of December and lost 5lbs. Then the Christmas parties kicked in and I drifted. Have approx 10 days of product so will get going again. I wasn't on SS but stage 3 at 1000 calories and it wasn't too bad.

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 19-Dec-11 19:34:26

I wasdiscussing my life threatening weight problem today and friend suggested i might be 'past diets' just eat healthy, but i guess i want ti lose the wweight quickly

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 19-Dec-11 20:29:18

Relax don't do it
You WILL regret eating sweets, chocolate, ice cream, chicken, cottage cheese with or without onion, chill doritos ANY FUCKING THING OFF SOLE SOURCE

than you will reap the fantasy reward, the dream, the goal, the figure, the healthier you, the better looking you, the more content you

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 19-Dec-11 20:30:53

after all the hard work i've done this year learning about food and nutrition

after all the hard work of reducung carbs

wakeupnow Mon 19-Dec-11 20:44:06

GFGW we'll do this, I have a degree in nutrition but it didn't stop me piling on the pounds.
Please help me & I'll be there for you xx

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 19-Dec-11 22:26:39

I will be here! smile

cockneydad Wed 21-Dec-11 18:44:17

I need to shed about 5 stone (maybe 6) - is their any advantage of Cambridge over Lighter Life ? They look similar in terms of the actual food (or lack of)....

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 21-Dec-11 19:05:08

New years day not far away!

wakeupnow Wed 21-Dec-11 19:52:46

cockney dad not sure tbh, am guessing they're similar.
GFGW 10 more sleeps to go!!!!!!

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 21-Dec-11 20:37:53

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow Thu 22-Dec-11 00:18:00

Good luck OP and everyone else - I think I might join you - how much is it please?

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 22-Dec-11 21:40:51

The cost varies. i have 4 packs a day. £50 per seven days.

Welcome smug

cockneydad Fri 23-Dec-11 20:26:11

50 for 7 days - ouch - I wonder if there are any ways to reduce that - the budget here is limited !

wakeupnow Fri 23-Dec-11 20:26:47

God guys I need this so much, just been to annual festive drinks with neighbours & this time next year really want them to be saying 'wow haven't you lost weight'!
Can't wait to get started now grin

GoingForGoalWeight Fri 23-Dec-11 20:37:51

It is a little over £7 per day. it is about what i spend on food already...blush.

goingbacktowork Sat 24-Dec-11 21:16:57

do people need to have check up woih doctor before you can start?

goingbacktowork Sat 24-Dec-11 21:18:22

difference between LL and cam diet is price (LL is more) and fact that LL has compulsory weekly group meetings whereas majority of cam diet counsellors you meet for quick meet up once or twice a fortnight.

SucksToBeMe Sat 24-Dec-11 22:51:33

I have been doing the CD and it's great!! I am on ss but need to switch to slim and save, which is a lot cheaper. As I am poor atm sad Will go back to CD after new year. The weight really does drop off!!!

goingbacktowork Sun 25-Dec-11 08:50:47

if you are an average woman then you do 3 packs a day not 4 if that works out any cheaper.

Happy Christmas All!

cockneydad Mon 26-Dec-11 20:47:22

seriously thinking about CD now - was also looking at lighter life, but money is sooo tight at the moment...

FortynotFat Tue 27-Dec-11 07:35:25

phew - well thank god that is all over.

I am going to have a couple of SS days today and tomorrow as I feel so bloated and ill. We ate lots on xmas day and then my mum did a huge spread last night and we tried to eat some and I just ended up feeling ill.

The cost is £40 per week for 3 products a day so quite a lot cheaper than LL. My counsellor just charges per pack so you pay less if you dont need 7 days.

I am so up for this. I keep thinking about how I dont want to be ashamed of the way I look any more.

How are you all doing ?

goingbacktowork Tue 27-Dec-11 19:14:52

I am trying to find a counsellor and then have to go to doctor to get signed off to do it so can't see how I cam goign to be able to start for over a week..shame I did not think about this earlier!

VeryStressedMum Tue 27-Dec-11 19:26:12

Hi!! I am still doing Cambridge though I'm on the 1000kcal now, I Sole Sourced for 11 weeks, did 810 for a week now am 1000. I lost 4 stone in 14 weeks, and I hope it will be more (I am 10lbs to goal). I'll be glad to get Christmas out of the way and get back into a normal routine!!!!!!!!!

CD really works if you stick to it (as you know anyway), many people have negative things to say about it but these are the people who don't know what the diet (or weight plan!) is all about. I read up on all the 'science' behind it and managed to shut them up smile.

I did 3 packs a day which was £40 per week but I think I actually saved money because, apart from not buying any other food, I didn't go into shops as I didn't need to (and spend an extra £20 on things I didn't really need) and also the grocery shopping is lasting ages as I don't eat any of it! I love Cambridge it's the only thing that has worked for me. I think I can not overeat (but it's still not easy) because I didn't eat one thing for 11 weeks apart from the shakes so I know I don't need that chocolate bar or eat the kids leftovers.

You can do it if you want it enough. Ignore those who say negative things, people in real life will say negative things too and you have to be strong enough to know why you're doing it and carry on regardless.
Other people's negativity cannot be the reason you give up on a diet.

You can do it and you will do so well, it works so good luck and go for it!!!!!!!

VeryStressedMum Tue 27-Dec-11 19:30:36

goingbacktowork - usually your doctor is just told you are doing it, they are sent a form with all the details on it, I didn't have to see my doctor as my CDC said -I'm not actually asking for permission just letting him know what I'm doing. smile

goingbacktowork Tue 27-Dec-11 22:13:47

I think it says if your BMI is over 40 you ened to be signed off to do it and I am bang on 40 (40.3 I think) (oink!) More than happy to be corrected though as that is going to slow me getting going right down.

GoingForGoalWeight Tue 27-Dec-11 22:18:13

Welcome to new people with good intentions for the new year smile

FortynotFat Wed 28-Dec-11 20:05:48

Wow thanks verystressed that is just the positive sort of story we need to hear.

We can do it we can do it we can do it

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 29-Dec-11 13:42:09

New Years Day soon!

Overtiredmum Thu 29-Dec-11 21:06:02

I am just about ready to start, although appointment not until the 10th. I have probably drunk more than I have eaten, so am looking forward to a good detox.

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 29-Dec-11 21:19:09

Physically weak, no energy, tired, nt getting essential basic housework done. feeling self conscious in public as I'm so huge now. Wondering how I'll cope. Predict I'm not going to be very good at coping with everyday stuff that pees me off, rude shop assistants, call centres, idiots elsewhere. Rude people give me reason to eat or i could really lose it and say something I'll regret and gewt into trouble for.

Bought the Cambridge diet book, will look at LL website for inspiration too, collect weight los stories, keep scrap book.

Write down body measurements...

fortynotfat Sat 31-Dec-11 07:37:39

Right I have begun.

cockneydad Sat 31-Dec-11 14:08:19

I have just booked a meeting with my local counsellor for Thursday for chat...

fortynotfat Sat 31-Dec-11 15:03:38

Good luck with that cockney

I am halfway through my first day and feel hungry but have sort of closed my mind to food. The shopping recently has been great as I have not needed to buy any food for me at all. I have enough packs left until I see counsellor next week so decided to just start and get on with it.

I had Apple and cinnamon porridge for breakfast, toffee and walnut shake for lunch and will have a soup later.

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 31-Dec-11 16:58:06

So pleased fortynotfat grin

Ilovefluffysheep Sat 31-Dec-11 17:08:26

For those concerned about cost, try exante. Its the same concept as cambridge/lighter life, and from what I've read about people who've done both, the shakes/soups/bars are much nicer (I've only done exante so can't compare).

I've done exante a couple of times, but never for very long, but am having my 3rd attempt and this time its serious!! Am on day 2 today, so a long way to go.

For me I like the cost, the taste, and the fact I can order it all online and don't have to see a councillor, go to meetings etc, but I appreciate others might like/need to do that.

Anyway, good luck all.

fortynotfat Sun 01-Jan-12 08:00:07

ooh I looked at exante fluffysheep but it did not look that much cheaper. The bumper 4 week pack was usually £200 (£100 + p and p on offer at the moment) so it would be more expensive than Cambridge even on offer. How do you buy yours in packs or by individual shakes / bars etc ? I will def try it if it is cheaper.

I feel so pleased I got through day 1 as I have this habit of 'starting tomorrow' but tomorrow has never come.

Now day 1 is out of the way I know I will not feel more hungry today so if I coped with yesterday today will be fine.

I will not be fat and forty grin

Anyone starting today ?

VeryStressedMum Sun 01-Jan-12 14:20:19

Well done fortynotfat!!!!! Keep going I can honestly say it's the best thing I've ever done (and no, I don't work for Cambridge!!).
I feel so much better and so much more confident and (apart from when I panicked about my wedding day and lost weight) this has been the only thing that has worked for me.

I actually never felt hungry doing SS, because when you're in ketosis apparently you don't, so I knew that when I wanted to eat something it wasn't real hunger. That was always my downfall that I would eat but I wasn't hungry, mouth or head hunger is different.

Taking food out of the equation was the only way I could lose weight and so far I don't crave chocolate or crap and I am finding it easy to say no to things that actually I don't want - I want to maintain this weight (and lose a few more pounds) much more than I want to eat a chocolate bar.

Many people have said to me (a very overweight woman said the same to me last night at the NYE party) that doing this kind of diet means that all the weight will pile back on as soon as you start eating normal food again which I totally don't believe.
I'm eating normal food and I've still lost. Whatever kind of 'diet' you do if, when it's over or you reach your goal weight or whatever, you go back to eating more calories than your body needs then you will gain weight.
After doing Cambridge if you eat the amount of calories your body needs in order to maintain your new size then you won't put on weight, same as WW or SW etc.
You do have to work up the plans because if you do SS then start eating 1500 calories a day straight away then yes you'll put on a bit of weight (water etc) because your body has to adjust but then at some point if you don't overeat you won't carry on putting weight you will maintain.

GoingforGoalWeight - you can do this. Do not let other people dictate what you weigh. If someone is rude to you, eating loads, sabotaging your plan and being fat is not getting your own back on them in any way - they go about their merry little lives not giving you a second thought but you end up feeling more crap about yourself and ultimately ruining your life and for what?

You can control yourself to not say anything and get into trouble - we all can. Maybe if you took control of your life you wouldn't feel the need to blow your top at other people who mean nothing to you.
They do not make you overeat it's just the excuse you need to give yourself to overeat but you don't need to.

You can do it smile let us know how you get on. xx

Ilovefluffysheep Sun 01-Jan-12 14:32:20

The 4 week bumper pack is always £100 (despite what they say!!) so thats £25 a week. Cheaper than what I've read on here about Cambridge?

There are flavours I don't like (strawberry and banana, don't like them in anything not just this), so i now tend to buy individual flavours of stuff but in the bulk boxes. Works out slightly more expensive than buying the mixed lot, but not much. For example, 50 chocolate shakes are £59.00.

I also buy the tesco ultra slim meal replacement bars instead of the exante bars, they are an exact match in terms of calories, carbs, vitamins etc, and so are considered a suitable alternative.

I'm on day 3 today and finally starting to feel less hungry, which is a relief. I struggle to drink the water, as I have a bladder issue anyway and drinking more is not great as I spend all my time in the loo!

fortynotfat Sun 01-Jan-12 15:11:07

yes £25 a week is cheaper. I may get a bumper pack next month to see how it compares. The being weighed thing does not bother me so will give exante a go in Feb. Thanks for the tip re the tescos bars will look out for them. I do like that my counsellor is happy if I get a couple of days or a full week from her so I dont feel tied into buying a full week each time so I may mix and match.

I am on day 2 and pretty hungry. I know I will feel fine when ketosis kicks in any time now. I feel much better already and over the christmas bloat.

goingforgoal How are you doing ? Are you starting today ?

fortynotfat Sun 01-Jan-12 15:14:34

I did want to ask - have you / are you planning to tell people that you are doing a VLCD ?

I am really undecided as to what to do. I just dont want opinions / questions whilst I am battling through the first few weeks so may keep it quiet.

Any tips about answers to questions / avoidence would be most helpful

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 01-Jan-12 16:31:30

I'm Drinking my water, about to have my first shake.

Thanks so much stressedmum xxxx

The Cambridge diet has the best quality IMO for vitamins and minerals, the most tested and has been around the longest.

I think i trust my health to Cambridge more than any other meal replacement plan on the market.

I think we're marvellous...

I shall be here a lot moaning, ranting no doubt..

Just ignore me grin

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 01-Jan-12 16:58:50

I have read it takes 21 days of repeating something for it rto become a habit.

21 days to go.....3 weeks ...

bring it on

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 01-Jan-12 17:02:59

I'm telling nobody about Cambridge. When it becomes blindingly obvious I#ve lost weight and I am asked hgow I've done it I shall say I don't want to talk about it.

Sod em [frgin]

This diet i imagine attracts a lot of criticism, I do not want to hear it. If pushed I'll say eat less move more, I haven't any other strict formula other than that.

Just make it up, lose weight, watch them turn envy

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 01-Jan-12 17:58:28

I've been having Psychodynamic therapy each week for the last past twelve months. To quell the emotional pain i have severly overate and piled on nine stones..I KNOW..the year previous i had lost weight at WW. the therapy was the definate trigger to my overeating, therapist wasn't too bothered but Iv am! I'm 26 8lb stones now as i write.

Carry on therapy and do Cambridge or give up therapy until I'm at goal weight, my body weight is so serious I could have a stroke, heart attack. I'm not sure my therapist will see this as good enough reason to stop therapy.

fortynotfat Sun 01-Jan-12 18:14:25

I am 18stones and at a short 5'2 that makes me really round blush

Between 9-10 stones is my goal by the end of August so 8 stones in 8 months.

It looks like I will be posting here a lot too - I have to have something to do now I am not eating

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 01-Jan-12 18:28:31

Hi fortynotfat, oooh i really do not want to gewt used to support here incase it ceases - worried.

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 01-Jan-12 18:30:39

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 01-Jan-12 18:32:51

Tried calling my Consultant today as arranged, no answer!

Hope this isn't going to be a problem in future, but it is New Years Day, so forgiven smile

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 01-Jan-12 18:33:40

I'll post in mental health regards my therapy question.

fortynotfat Mon 02-Jan-12 09:30:28

hope you got the answers goingforgoal and how are you getting on ? The first couple of days are the hardest I have found.

I agree with you and I am going to tell no one either - just dont want to deal with questions / opinions of others.

Day 3 here and now I am in ketosis feel fantastic and a bit hyper and not at all hungry - off for a beach walk.

Back to work tomorrow then school run etc resumes so back to the grindstone sad

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 02-Jan-12 14:42:45

Height - 5'9"

Weight - 26 stones and 11 1/2 LB.

Consultant said should be at maintenance a couple of weeks before December/Christmas 2012.

Weigh day Friday 1pm - I shall post my losses.

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 02-Jan-12 18:32:49

I have some energy back, slightly lighter on my feet already smile

Life cannot continue like it was. sad

I shall take my netbook with me to Friday's weigh in for a before photograph.

I hope everyone else on this thread is taking a before picture, front, back, profile.

fortynotfat Mon 02-Jan-12 18:39:49

I have not taken a picture but have enough horrid 'before' pictures just need to get to the 'after'

Thanks for the smoothie tip - I may try that.

Glad you are so positive it helps. I am too as I need to change.

Are we on our own on this thread ?

Day 3 done now so am getting there slowly

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 02-Jan-12 19:17:22

It is our own private journey in reality. I'll be here unless a Doctor advises I must stop Cambridge via illness, (you never know).

Beckismumof2 Mon 02-Jan-12 20:17:42

Hi, mind if I join you? I'm on day 4 of the cambridge diet and have been finding it hard (headaches and nausea, oh and hunger!). Especially difficult with everyone around me not dieting and waving chocolates around!

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 02-Jan-12 20:26:04

Hi becki

You're welcome

Please do not mention food on this thread smile

Day 2 for me and feeling fab!

Positivity thread smile

cockneydad Mon 02-Jan-12 21:08:27

I hope to be joining you - first appointment with local CD councellor later this week!

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 02-Jan-12 21:11:42

Hi cockneydad smile

I'm freezing cold - might buy a snuggle blanket and wooly socks

Jenda Tue 03-Jan-12 12:49:56

Hello! Im thinking about joining, this thread has made me feel really motivated! I am just worried about cost at the moment. Also my BMI is over 40 and my drs surgery has signs everywhere saying she will not support CD or LL. Do you think this will be a problem? So desperate to be slim. Have spent too long being miserable and being in a cycle of eating because im unhappy with being fat and then being even fatter and even more unhappy!! Must stop! Have wedding to go to at the end of may which i would love to be slim for. If i can get to that and feel amazing i know I won't let it all go again

GoingForGoalWeight Tue 03-Jan-12 14:06:28

Hi Jenda

Welcome smile

You might have to change Ddr. if after consultation she will not support you. I've never heard of this before, your Dr needs educating.

Had difficulty sleeping last night.

Feeling energised and focused ontaking Cambridge day by day. I might be in ketosis.

Feel really positive and happier smile

ablexy Tue 03-Jan-12 19:19:26

Hello. I have just completed day 1 on ss. Feeling tired & fed up of using the bathroom but pleased that i have given 100% so far. Hopefully things will get better soon once ketosis kicks in!
Starting measurements
Height 5"9
Weight 14.5
Bmi 31
Needs to get better.....3.5 stone to lose, getting married in August and determined that i will not be a big bride!

Wishing everyone who has started the CD best of luck!!

fortynotfat Tue 03-Jan-12 19:42:50

welcome Jenda Becki and ablexy !

I have done 4 days and feel fab - the ketosis has been keeping me awake though as it has made me all 'buzzy' so I hope to sleep better tonight.

goingforgoal glad you are so positive - we can do this.

I went to Waitrose today and had to look at the food without thinking about it. It is as if I have closed my mind to food.

Roll on the next few weeks / months as the weight falls off

GoingForGoalWeight Tue 03-Jan-12 19:55:20

At goal I'm joining a gym, hiring a PT, learn to jog/run.

I could go back to WW but via therapy i eat huge amnounts of food, 1,000's calories. Can't move around much so never burn it off. Everydaty basic tasks are virtually impossible. Ashamed to be seen in public sad

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 04-Jan-12 16:16:31

Day 5

Feeling lighter, energised.

No hunger.

fortynotfat Wed 04-Jan-12 17:48:38

well done GFGW !!

Just think how good we will feel on day 10 or week 5 or week 15 and so on and so on

I just had to stand and watch my husband prepare himself a tasty snack and I found myself looking longingly at it but I stayed strong and resisted

Tomorrow will be no harder than today and I stuck with it today so will be able to tomorrow.

Have you had a snekay weigh in since you started ?

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 04-Jan-12 18:03:33

Hi forty

No weigh in for me at home yet, shall do on Friday morning.

I have found this site

Packed of people awaiting weight loss surgery in the UK, pre-op liquid diets etc.

It brings it home we are not alone if we're used to group meetings in weight loss classes.

Nutrition is in our packs we do not need food.

Look at the Lighter Life channel on Youtube too. Pauline Quirk gives interview on This Morning.. smile

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 04-Jan-12 18:05:45

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 04-Jan-12 18:09:09

On that site post-op they're stll drinking/eating wrong stuff. Sigh.

fortynotfat Thu 05-Jan-12 16:11:20

that site is fascinating GFGW ! I really didi not want surgery and want it even less now !!

I have been struggling a bit last night and today. I have stayed 100% with it but I think my ketosis high has worn off and I feel a bit shaky and tired. I am not tempted to cheat but my mind is playing tricks with me and thinking about food. It does not help that work is super stressful too.

I will not cheat though. Day 6 today and I dont want to start again. My ketosticks arrived today and I am def in ketosis so it must be working.

This was always going to be hard - just need to keep going

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 05-Jan-12 16:51:32

It's a real struggle losing weight, portion control in WW, SW etc and still managing to find excuses to eat junk food that got us big in the first place.

Undertaking a meal replacement routine we still crave food, feel we NEED food, feel food will solve all our emotional psychological feelings we find unbearable to deal with without filling our tummy with the comforting tastes and warmth of a full tummy.

It's called self harm.

Do you enjoy being fat?

I do not like myself fat.

I know i feel different being morbidly obese.

I know i feel different being obese.

I know i feel different being overweight.

Different as in feeling self conscious at home and in public, feeling down, beating myself up in my mind - secretly.

Comparing myself to people in the street, on TV, knowing I'd be happier with my body if i was my ideal weight, my emotions would be calmer as i would no longer be dealing with the emotions being fat cause me to feel.

I know this as i lived it before.

I'm 38 soon I also do not want to be fat and forty...

OlympicEater Thu 05-Jan-12 16:55:50

Just poking my head round as I have dusted off my exante shakes to give it another go. Its good to find other people so motivated so I will keep popping in here for motivation.

Good luck for your weigh in tomorrow GFGW.

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 05-Jan-12 16:56:16

I want my good health to continue being free of obesity related disease and illness. I owe it to my Son at least to becme slim and exercise.
~We have each other, if i die because of overeating he'll be in a care home all alone.

Feel disgusted I've done tis to myself knowing that fact but it was my way of coping and self harming blaming ME AGAIN for things out of my control.

I want to see an after photograph of you fortynotfat.

If you want to see mine I will send you my after picture too. x

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 05-Jan-12 16:57:59

Hi OlympicEater brill name!

Thanks but weigh day this week only is Saturday smile

Period week and is heavy sorry if TMI smile

OlympicEater Thu 05-Jan-12 17:16:06

Me too GFGW - when I did similar before my periods stopped for a couple of months grin

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 05-Jan-12 17:40:19

Might mean not much lost but plenty of time smile

This diet produces fast weight lss in month one, after 2 - 3lb per week, sometimes more. Ideal for thoselike myself who cannot control food or exercise. Reintroducing food slowly after goal weight will be hard.

fortynotfat Thu 05-Jan-12 17:58:56

Welcome olympic!

Thank you thank you thank you GFGW - yes the stress is making me want to reach for food although I know I dont need it and am not actually very hungry. The urge has now passed and I am thinking ' I dont need it to make me feel better'.

A long bath later will be better to de stress me than food and that wont lead to feeling bad.

Yes to the after pictures grin

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 05-Jan-12 18:28:14

I'll keep rambling posting, to 'get the sheer self sabotage out, he/she won't beat mesmile

I hope my posts make you feel better fatnotforty.

Really look at your body ij the bath, feel it all over not being pervy, imagine the extra room in there as time goes by.

i think sometimes when we are fat we ignore our bodies,.

I do and have a long soak planned tonmorrow :~)

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 05-Jan-12 18:31:57

Do you moisturiseyour body?

I was thinking of starting to use palmers cocoa butter or Nutrogena body cream - the ten layers type.

Which body creams do you use or intend to use, if that's the case? smile

I've read that Sskin exfoliation is extremly important when on a VLCD. and to be done everyday with body scrub and a exfoliating mitt.

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 05-Jan-12 18:39:56

Lots of repetition, reminders of basic reasons why we are doing this plan. Easy to put our heads in the sand, become less aware of important positive psychological visions of how we want to be.

Let's not be blind to the fact we are full of excuses, excuses to eat, burying head in the sand to the fact we getting bigger, unattractive to ourselves, not liking ourselves,,maybe we don't feel OK with ourselves in our mind, soul body so we eat for comfort

the viscious cycle continues

terrified we'll fail

hopefully ketosis will help us overcome the cravings of hunger

emotional needs...

another story..

fortynotfat Thu 05-Jan-12 19:44:32

I use eating as my escape and hideout and am lost without it. It is hitting me like a ton of bricks. It is not about hunger or the food it is hiding from stress. I honestly did not realise. Shit. I am cleaning and sorting things whereas before I ate and ate.
I so want to be free of this dependence on overeating and will crack it. This is much harder than giving up smoking. I have not cracked yet so this is it. Facing it and learning to be ok without binge eating.

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 05-Jan-12 19:47:17

How many litres of water are you having fortyNOTfat?

fortynotfat Thu 05-Jan-12 19:54:53

Not counting water just drinking green tea / black coffee / water all day and weeing lots and lots so enough fluid for sure

Overtiredmum Thu 05-Jan-12 21:10:11

Greetings, am just sticking my head in the door to say and well done to those that have started! My appointment to start has been changed - thankfully a few days earlier, so I will be joining you on Sunday and I cannot wait!

Keep at it - Day 4 is best day for me, always feel amazing by then so hopefully by Wednesday next week I will start to feel greaaaaattttt!

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 05-Jan-12 21:14:15

Hello again! Great to see you and fortynotfat smile

angry at disgusting huge clothes

FeathersMcGraw Thu 05-Jan-12 21:32:46

Hi All, just thought I'd also stick my head round the door to say well done everyone!

I started CD at the end of Sept, weighing 18st 6lb at only 5'2" blush However I was not able to do SS as I have gallbladder problems. I started with a couple of weeks of step 3 (1000 cals) before dropping down to step 2 (810 cals).

So far I have lost 45lbs and 3 dress sizes, which is fab considering I am eating an tiny bit of solid food. I survived xmas unscathed (lost 4lbs) and am now going to start exercising now I have more energy smile

Ketosis will help the hunger, as will changing your daily routines so you don't automatically reach for a biccie just because you have a cup of (black) tea and a sit down...

Forty cleaning and sorting is good - you crack your food dependency and get a tidy sparkly house grin

oops - formatting overload there...

cockneydad Thu 05-Jan-12 22:22:47

Just seen my consultant - need to et GP to sign the forms as I am on a couple of meds - hopefully start next week !

OlympicEater Fri 06-Jan-12 09:53:30

Wow Feathers well done. I love to hear people's success stories as it really helps to motivate me because it shows that (while it is hard work - no denying that) it is doable.

I tested this morning and am in ketosis so there is no going back now [determined]

ablexy Fri 06-Jan-12 10:42:02

Hi all
Well made it to day 4 smile So happy as i feel much better than i have. Just drinking more water. Off to purchase ketosis strips & hopefully the fat burning has begun. Well done to everyone who has lost weight and the motivation that they have. I have to say Fortynotfat and goingforgoalweight you have both given me so much advice with your messages and determination to succeed in being slimmer, you have kept me going...a big thankyou!!
Bring on being slimmer !!

fortynotfat Fri 06-Jan-12 12:30:16

Thanks for posting feathers it really does help to hear success !

Well I am feeling fine and dandy today as so so so so so pleased I am still on track. Yesterday was a low and I finally realised what an emotional prop food is for me. The news is that I don't need it. Positive all the way today.

Can't wait to hear how GFGW got on.

Posting from phone will be back lYre

SimoneLM Fri 06-Jan-12 13:15:10

Hi everyone,
i have spent the last hour reading this entire thread and so happy i have found some ladies who have the same issues as me.

I am 30 and have about 80 lbs to lose. I too am on day 4 of SS and feeling good today. I am hoping to lose 50 pounds by mid-June so i know there is alot of hard work ahead of me.

I would love to join your thread and help in support, encouragement and getting through those tough days xxx

cockneydad Fri 06-Jan-12 17:08:36

There is a man here too simone smile

goingbacktowork Fri 06-Jan-12 17:09:17

personal question but ladies who have 80 pounds+ to lose etc are you on ss? CD helpline just told me if you have BMI of anything over 40 ( i am abotu 40.2) you are not allowed to start on sole source and must start on 810 or maybe sole source +. Does anyone know if this is right? I just think it is gonna be harder for me to eat a miniscule little meal once a day then no food at all.

slalomsuki Fri 06-Jan-12 17:26:25

I'm on step 3 out of necessity than choice and I eat a small meal per day. I have found it quiet easy to do, 2 shakes or bars then a meal which provided it has lots of veg in it with some meat seems like a proper meal. I found some innocent pots of veg in waitrose the other day which means the veg I eat is now hot and more varied than I would be bothered to do myself. The counsellor said it was ok as long as the calorie count was low and it was low carb.

Have stood on the scales today and have lost 5lbs in 5 days by my estimate but the truth will out on Monday.

fortynotfat Fri 06-Jan-12 18:47:47

Well I have 112 pounds to lose and am on ss 3 products a day. My consultant never mentioned otherwise.

I have done 7 days ss now. This is the longest I have ever done with no cheat. I am rather pleased with myself.

Sunday will be a problem as going to my nephews birthday party. It is. 2 ur drive there and back so will be a long day and having lunch and dinner at my brothers so will be noticed if I don't eat. I really don't want to tell my family ( read horrible mum ) so I think I will have to eat as little as posible and get back on track Monday. Monday is weigh day too so don't want to ruin my hard work.

GFGW how did you get on today ?

immortalbeloved Fri 06-Jan-12 19:23:03

I just wanted to post to say how fab this diet is and how well you are all doing!

I have done cambridge in the past but never got to goal as I got pregnant each time blush (it really does make you very very fertile)

I'm starting again now, today is day 5 for me but I'm doing Exante this time, I love cambridge and haven't got a bad word to say about them, but exante is much cheaper, so I'm on the ketosis bus with you all grin

GoingForGoalWeight Fri 06-Jan-12 20:27:52

Hi smile

Weigh in tomorrow at 12.30pm as first weigh in . Friday thereafter.

So pleased you are all here.

I will report here, it's TOTM sad

fortynotfat Fri 06-Jan-12 20:35:45

Let us know how you get on !

How do I cope with going to family for the day Sunday. It is nephew birthday party and we are driving for a couple of hours to get there and will be served lunch and dinner. I do not want family to know yet so was planning to eat as little as possible and concentrate in it not sending me off track. That will be a major achievement as a cheat usually ends up as a huge binge for me.

Weigh in Monday for me

Overtiredmum Fri 06-Jan-12 22:16:32

Hi Forty! Main thing is, don't be scared to eat. As much as possible, only eat protein. If your counsellor gave you a book, its mentions "green and white", ie. white meat and green salad or veg. If thats not possible, just try and stay off carbs if you can, that why you won't do too much (or any) harm.

Hope you have a lovely time. By the time I come back on here, I will be on Day 2!

Have a great weekend all x

OlympicEater Sat 07-Jan-12 10:14:58

Forty I would agree with overtired - stick to the protein / salad and you may be able to stay in ketosis and minimise the damage.

GFGW good luck with your weigh in - I'm so excited to hear everyone's results.

goingbacktowork Sat 07-Jan-12 10:32:09

I only got one reply to this so asking again as I want to check that what I have been told is correct. Has anyone on here got more than 80 pounds to lose with BMI of over 40 and on sole source? I have been told this is not possible. Thanks

OlympicEater Sat 07-Jan-12 12:42:57

I haven't goingback, but my friend has done it with that much to lose.

From what it says here and on the next page when you click the link, you have to have a BMI over 25 plus a stone to do sole source - if it is less then you can't do it.

Have you asked a counsellor?

goingbacktowork Sat 07-Jan-12 14:54:17

You are kind of answering a different point. That rule is to make sure no one very close to their ideal BMI does it ( i.e. someone not overweight enough). CD helpline said to me if you have BMI over 40 you CANNOT do sole source (i.e you are too overweight for your body to do this) but there appear to be several ladies on here in that category who are so I could not quite understand. Thanks very much.

cockneydad Sat 07-Jan-12 16:29:44

Not sure going-back - my councellor said that I should start in sole source plus, she actually thinks that for many people its better in any case. My BMI is less than 40, but over 30 - and I'm a bloke smile Just need go get GP to sign my form and I start SS+ !

VeryStressedMum Sat 07-Jan-12 18:04:53

GoingforGoal waiting to hear how you got on with the weigh in!!

How's everyone else doing on their plans? I'm still on 1000 cals, though I'm finding it hard to have the shakes now as I can't be bothered to make them (I faff around with blender, ice...), but it's going ok haven't overeaten and I've started exercising (sporadically).

Forty, I would too just eat protein, as lean as possible, maybe even bring your own packets of cooked chicken. Saying you are doing low carb is more 'acceptable' than Cambridge because people don't know how it works, that's why I found out all there was to know about Cambridge so when people said 'it's dangerous' or 'you'll pile the weight straight back on again' I could put them straight and they couldn't argue back.

You could also say you have a stomach ache and don't feel like eating and don't want to chance dairy so you'll just have black coffee. I said a whole load of stuff which must've sounded a bit strange.

Now however, all people say to me is how fab I look and how have I lost all the weight grin

It's definitely not the easiest thing I've ever done but it's also not the hardest and how I feel now is worth every single second of the past 3.5 months.

fortynotfat Sat 07-Jan-12 18:52:26

Well today I have had a bad tummy. Think it is a bug and i felt terrible earlier went all shaky. My husband was worried and wants me to ' eat properly' tomorrow.

I weighed this morning and am 9lb down so am happy with that.

Back on ss Monday as soon as I feel better.

Do you stick to ss when ill ?

We are all waiting for you GFGW !

fortynotfat Sat 07-Jan-12 18:54:10

And yes stressedmum I really don't feel like eating anyway so won't eat much anyway tomorrow so feeling ill won't be a lie

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 07-Jan-12 20:28:25

fortynotfat 9lb down is fab!

What about tomorrow fortynotfat? What have you decided?

My Consultant said Sole Source is within the Cambridge guidelines for my weight. My Doctor agreed.

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 07-Jan-12 20:48:40

Got long way to go...Almost 17 stones to lose.

fortynotfat Sat 07-Jan-12 20:48:59

I still feel crapola so will just have to see how it goes tomorrow.

I have done 7 days ss and can do many weeks more so am not stressing about tomorrow. I will never go back to huge binge eating and Monday will be the, start of a longer run of ss so i will lose the weight.

It works and I will not be fat and forty oh no indeedy not.

Having a bit of a crap day today. Had the shakes at lunch time with a sore head and felt a bit spaced out. Ended up having some bread and cheese which took the shakes away but I still have the sore head. Have drunk loads though so not dehydrated.

Bit annoyed as tomorrow is weigh in and I may have just blown it but really didn't have any other option.

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 08-Jan-12 18:45:26

I hasd the shakes a little too, it's carb withdrawel, I was fine with a huge drink of water.

OlympicEater Sun 08-Jan-12 19:01:13

slalomski - a tip from a friend who did it successfully was if you feel you need to eat, avoid carbs but go for protein prefereably lean

FeathersMcGraw Sun 08-Jan-12 20:16:14

hi Slalom I second Olympic about avoiding carbs if you get the shakes. I keep low fat cottage cheese for such occasions - just a forkful does the trick now...

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 08-Jan-12 23:02:07

Anyone drinking sparkling water? i've tried isklar and san pellegrino. Hope the isklar comes in still too, off to check sainsburys website smile

ScarfOfSexualPreference Mon 09-Jan-12 03:15:28

I've read this thread with interest as I don't know much about very low calorie diets. I've taken a look at the different diets mentioned- solo slim and cambridge require you to meet someone in person, is that corect? A counselor or group? I don't think I could do that as most meetings seem to be in work time- I've done rosemary conley before but now can't find a single meeting within 50 miles I can get to! And I live in London!

One question to any of you doing the exante diet- I can't find on the site if you have to sign for a delivery, if you have to be at home. Or if they just can leave it with a neighbour or in the porch?

I have about 7 stone to lose so maybe a quicker solution would be best for me, as good as low GI has been for me!

ScarfOfSexualPreference Mon 09-Jan-12 03:31:37

Sorry, meant lighter life not solo slim!

OlympicEater Mon 09-Jan-12 10:39:16

Scarf I have bumped the Exante thread for you to ask. Its so long ago since I had mine delivered (I'm using up my stock that is 6 months out of date) I can't remember if it was signed for, but I am sure the courier would leave iwth a neighbour

ScarfOfSexualPreference Mon 09-Jan-12 15:02:19

Thanks OlimpicEater- I emailed Exante and they say they will leave it with a neighbour/in a safe place no prob so I'm going to give it a go!

Overtiredmum Mon 09-Jan-12 22:10:20

Greetings all, well done, keep it up!

Going, I am finding you really motivational - thanks.

Day 2 over for me and I am feeling pretty good and no hunger pangs at all. Weigh in went well with my counsellor on Sunday, we set a target of 35lbs, which is manageable for me, and then I will switch to WW to do another stone, which will hopefully get me down to 9.5 stone.

Also, I agree with the comments about if you feel shaky, keeping protein in the fridge for something quick to grab if you absolutely have to. I always keep a pack of pre-cooked chicken breast in mine with I'm on CD, just chewing a slice seems to register with the brain to calm down, and it won't throw you out of ketosis.

lovelylaura304 Tue 10-Jan-12 12:42:52

Hi All

I have read through this thread and all of you are a great help. I’m on day 2 and ok so far! I lost 1.5 stone in November but went away and completely ruined what I had achieved. I was so cross with myself and am now back on track. I have spent 12 years being overweight and the FAT has to go.

GFGW- You are really great for this thread and I hope you stay so strong and get to your goal weight. Can’t wait to see your pics.

Come on peeps we can look amazing by the end of 2012....

ablexy Tue 10-Jan-12 14:07:32

26stones 4 1/2LB last weigh in grin

Ive declared war on my flab...angry

Overtiredmum Tue 10-Jan-12 19:23:54

I have had a fab day today - Day 3 nearly over and I feel amazing. Am not sure whether I have just forgotten how good you feel on this diet, or whether this is the best I have felt.

I had so much energy today, it was great. I work evenings, and don't get home until 11.30pm, don't get to bed until 1am, then up at 6.15am with DH and then the kids, so I don't much time to sleep, so usually by the time I am home after the morning school run, I would collapse in a heap and hope the DD who is 2, will play nicely and let me sleep for an hour. Today is the first day in MONTHS I really felt like I didn't need to do that. By 10am, I had done the ironing, organising dinner for the kids and DH, made pack-ups for tomorrow, and put in a load of washing.

I did have a minor wobble, whilst preparing DD's lunch, when I thought, just for one moment, right what shall I have for lunch today, then I remembered and the thought was gone. I don't feel hungry at all.

Am back off to see my counsellor tomorrow, but this time to take my friend who is in much need to help, but I will abstain from getting weighed as its only been 3 days. My next official weigh-in isn't until next Tuesday, so hoping for a good number as I will be on day 10 by then.

My motivation for doing this - my best friend was diagnosed with CML (leukemia) in August of last year. She is doing great, but at a year younger than me, she has made me realise that I need and want to live for today, and this weight has to go once and for all. I don't have as much to lose as some, but I still feel incredibly fat and I can't exercise because of torn cartilage in my knee. I have no more excuses, I know the reasons why I am the weight I am, only I can rectify those, and I will do it! I don't want my children to be the same as me and spending their lives on diets.

2012 will be the year I lose the weight, throw the scales away and be able to wear all those clothes I have been storing in the attic "just in case I ever lost weight"!

Overtiredmum Tue 10-Jan-12 19:24:26

Hope my waffling makes sense, just wanted to write it all down somewhere. x

mumof3boys01 Tue 10-Jan-12 19:27:03

Hi can i join seeing a CD counsellor on Friday, my current weight is 25st13lbs blush so really need to do this.Think i will do sole source but going to speak on Friday about my options.

GoingForGoalWeight Tue 10-Jan-12 19:32:13

OUR thread is a caring truthful thread, we can/should feel free to write what we want to here.

I love reading your truths.

I'll be here for months, maybe forever on and off as i'll always have to watch my weight.

GoingForGoalWeight Tue 10-Jan-12 19:35:00

I'm one stone and a bit heavier than you are.

Oh, I'm excited..grin

cockneydad Tue 10-Jan-12 19:55:34

saw GP today - had to leave form with him, will probably get charged for a letter (groan) and he is insisting on writing a comment about one of the conditions that could be a problem (I have suffered from depression in the past) - what a pain ,was hoping to start this week sad

Overtiredmum Tue 10-Jan-12 19:59:40

Cockneydad, thats a shame you may not be able to start this week. Could you ask GP to fax the letter to your CD counsellor?

You can always prepare to start though. My counsellor always tells me to prepare for at least 3/4 days before actually starting. Start increasing your daily intake of water and start to daily reduce your carb intake, as this makes the transition alot easier.

GoingForGoalWeight Tue 10-Jan-12 20:13:24

Before Cambridge this was my diet

SlimFast cereal bar - 9am - hot drink.

SlimFast chocolate chewy bar - 12pm - hot drink.

SlimFast savoury snack bag - fruit - 3pm.

Steamed fish (or meat of choice), vegetables, 4 small potatos, italian style sauce with capers - hot drink - 6pm.

SlimFast chocolate chewy bar- hot drink - 8pm - 9pm

Overtiredmum Tue 10-Jan-12 20:15:15

I won't list my diet before Cambridge - for obvious reasons! grin

GoingForGoalWeight Tue 10-Jan-12 20:22:36

I didn't like the SlimFast shakes sad

cockneydad - Sorry ti read about your dilemma - have you contacted your Consultant? I recommend you do this.

I'm going to carry out a little research on your behalf.

I've broight The Cambridge Diet book by Dr Howard,on Ebay for about seven pounds. The cover is bright pink and is the 20th anniversary edition

GoingForGoalWeight Tue 10-Jan-12 20:24:27

It was my preparation diet LOL

Before it was a continous buffet of heart attack food sad

I do not think there are enough pages on MN to cover it <giggles in shame>blush

fortynotfat Tue 10-Jan-12 20:26:27

have you all seen THIS

that will be us that will gringringringrin

fortynotfat Tue 10-Jan-12 20:31:16

and 'fuck the fat' is my new mantra

GFGW you are fab - dont stop posting please.

GoingForGoalWeight Tue 10-Jan-12 20:41:35

I loved reading that link fortynotfat grin

I feel even more notivated - thank you x

I do not want to be a fat greedy binge eater anymore

I will also post links of weight loss stories etc.

I use the Paul McKenna - parts 1 and 2 - I can make you thin audio videos on Youtube - OMG they're brilliant grin Lovely to fall sleep to on my phone.

Anybody else got links, poems, motivational quotes etc?

OlympicEater Tue 10-Jan-12 20:53:07

Oooh hope so.

Have just had a call to work wednesday nightshift - not sure how my body is going to cope with that, I always get ravenous and cold as it is doing nights, and it is hard physical work (nursing home)

GoingForGoalWeight Tue 10-Jan-12 20:59:05

Olympiceater I sympathise x

Just remember that if you start to feel weak eat protein or maybe eat some before your shift starts.

Plan and prepare for how you might feel just no carbs, take some protein with you.

Will be thinking of you, let us know how you got on smile

GoingForGoalWeight Tue 10-Jan-12 21:11:41

I've tried to access the Cambridge forum with no luck. Has is been scrapped?

I was looking on behalf of cockneydad sad

fortynotfat Tue 10-Jan-12 21:13:53

I registered with the Cambridge forum months ago but it is full of stories of people cheating so put me right off.

I will have a look to see if it is still there

GoingForGoalWeight Tue 10-Jan-12 21:17:25

This is an extract taken from The Cambridge Diet book.

Page 135.

Question - I am under treatment for depression. Is it safe for me to take The Cambridge Diet?

Answer - There is nothing in The Cambridge Diet plan that would interfere with depression therapy. It is important, however, that any diet you undergobe supervised very carefully by your docor or psychiatrist.

fortynotfat Tue 10-Jan-12 21:17:48

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 11-Jan-12 12:46:04

Glad i only have to cook one meal now for my lovely DS.

I find I am desiring to experiment a bit more with recipes.

Let's see what today's supermarket trip brings.

Next instalment of my exciting life..very soon,,you lucky lucky peeps

clairebear123 Wed 11-Jan-12 13:46:29

HI, just wondering if I can join in? Am on day 2 of SS (third time around including a lighter life attempt). I too have done well in the past but made the mistake of jumping straight into food from sole source. It will not happen this time but third time around is much harder and am going to need support...especially at the weekends!

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 11-Jan-12 15:03:20

Hi Claire

Welcome! smile

I'm here a lot

Good luck

Overtiredmum Wed 11-Jan-12 17:31:49

Day 4 nearly over for me and am feeling really good. Loads of energy and not hungry at all, just that horrible nasty taste in my mouth, which can only mean one thing...... KETOSIS!!

Took my friend to see my CD counsellor today, and she has started also.

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 11-Jan-12 19:17:37

Hiya Overtiredmum thats fab news. I'm feelimg a little tired tonight, just got home but i also feel a lot better in myself. My cheeks were hot today, i do feel great smile
Keep going everybody smile
Post more lol

fortynotfat Wed 11-Jan-12 19:27:41

hard day for me today but I am still with it.

I know tomorrow will mean ketosis and it will be easier.

Welcome claire and well done overtiredmum !!

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 11-Jan-12 19:30:06

Hey fortynotfat smile

Do you have any other planned meals/celebrations on your Cambridge journey?

Overtiredmum Wed 11-Jan-12 19:58:32

Saying that, am bloody freezing tonight! Might have to sit in work with my coat and gloves on!

Forty - why is it, when you diet you always gets invited out??? Friends contacted us to see if we fancied dinner out next weekend - normally I'd jump at the chance, but I'm ashamed to say that I made up a pack of lies and asked to postpone, purely because I need more time before I think about eating - is that bad????

fortynotfat Wed 11-Jan-12 20:14:13

I am hoping to have 3 straight weeks as no plans then we have another family get together and then my ds birthday but hope to just do a sleepover so will not involve going out.

I have porridge in the morning, shake for lunch and soup evening. I like the leek and potato and chicken and mushroom best. Have not tried bars yet.

So that is my aim for 3 weeks.

We do have a fairly busy social life usually but I need to crack this. I am usually ok dieting for a few days then a meal out or something leads to a several day binge. I need to conrtol and find a way to make it fit in with my life.

I am pleased I have turned it round after this weekend. this thread really helps . Keep on posting.

I almost said out loud today 'FUCK THE FAT' as I was leaving the office grin

fortynotfat Wed 11-Jan-12 20:15:45

yes overtired avoidance may be for the best in the short term.

I keep saying to myself ' this is not forever - lose the weight then I can get on with my life much happier, healthier and in nicer clothes'

tiredofbeingfat Thu 12-Jan-12 16:24:58

Hi all smile

i hope you dont mind me joining? I am on day 2 of Cambridge diet and feeling bleughhh sad I done LL 6 years ago and i know the first week is the hardest! its just getting the motivation to carry on! The diet does work (i lost 4 1/2 stone in 12 weeks before) Mentally i know how hard it is going to be!!! I think talking to people in same situation may help X

Overtiredmum Thu 12-Jan-12 17:53:36

Day 5 and feeling good!!

Welcome Tired!

tiredofbeingfat Thu 12-Jan-12 18:13:45

the sluggish feeling passes?? im hoping once i reach ketosis that happens?

Overtiredmum Thu 12-Jan-12 18:40:42

Yes, ketosis usually kicks in around Day 4 I think, well it does for me. I've been quite fortunate this time that I seem to have had a smooth transition, no bad days so far at all, although I was suffering from flu and feeling rather poorly last week, so maybe I have just recovered from that, and so feel better.

How much do you have to lose this time Tired?

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 12-Jan-12 18:47:16

Rather surprisingly as yet another disappointment we faced this evening regards respite for my SN DS.

Nice Lady but completly overbooked...also I objected to yet another stranger comyng to mu house, for a fucking snoop to see how my DS is at home so respite provider can learn. A big fat NO from me NO MORE 14 years of being on trial and snooped on, Im standing my ground.

Oh well,,but no desire to scoff

Overtiredmum Thu 12-Jan-12 19:51:12

Sorry to hear that Going, but glad you are feeling good.

Onwards and upwards - or hopefully inwards!!

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 12-Jan-12 20:06:24

Bloody social workers sad Overworked they are.

GoingForGoalWeight Fri 13-Jan-12 15:08:58

Still feeling good. Feel as if I've 'woken up' out of a deep food stupor. I'm feeling proud of myself for getting this far. Feeling a little more emotional but that is bound to happen as I no longer self medicate (put myself in a state of denial), with the legal drug - food.

Goal will be acheived THIS YEAR!

So exciting and if i continue to not feel hunger I will definately get there..I cannot wait for my transformation and calorie counting, very strictly after maintenance.

I also realise there is a veery strong possibility I may regain some weight in maintenance but gaining control via eating healthily and actually being able to move my body - play sports - will help.

Overtiredmum Fri 13-Jan-12 17:26:37

Well done Going!

I too have had a marvelous day. Feel absolutely amazing, not hungry at all. My hair is gleaming, my skin looks great and I don't have that horrible bloated feeling! I managed to do the food shop today without any feelings of "I wish I could have that...." Am working all weekend 12pm to 6pm both days, so that makes the weekend easier for me, as DH will do all the cooking etc whilst I am out. So, thats Day 6 nearly done.

Going, I have never gained weight when switching over from CD to WW, I usually go on to continue to lose weight. I usually go up to Step 3, which is 1000 and then switch over - usually still have one supplement a day, and making allowance in my points for it, until I gradually drop them all together. It should work the same for you with calorie counting.

Well, the nice pair of Next size 16 jeans which I purchased a month ago will be in need of shrinking soon - I can actually take them off without unbuttoning them!!! grin

slalomsuki Sat 14-Jan-12 11:23:26

Well I have stuck to the diet pretty much now for 2 weeks with one major wobble. So far it's not as bad as I thought and lost 5lbs in week 1 and 4lbs by my reckoning but the weigh session with the counsellor is on Tuesday so will know then.

Overtiredmum Sat 14-Jan-12 14:50:44

Well done Slalomsuki!

Its a beautiful day outisde, not a cloud can be seen, but bloody freezing! I had to come to work today and made sure DH defrosted the car for me beforehand, he wasn't best pleased!!

Day 7 for me and I feel really good.

Hope everyone else is doing OK. Will check in again later.

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 14-Jan-12 19:11:27

Overtiredmum I typed a long reply last night, clicked and it disappeared sad

Weigh day today and I've lost 4lb 8oz smile

I feel so good! the Xambridsge diet elevates our mood and makes us happier with more energy smile

11 and a 1/2 LB gone

I do not even want food AT ALL

I'm dreaming of exercising, sawimming etc in the near future. I will buy a bycycle too, PT for running.

Your plan Overtired for maontenance is fab, will do similar smile

Guess others are busy or struggling sad

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 15-Jan-12 00:02:56

Freezing cold with hot cheekssmile

fortynotfat Sun 15-Jan-12 06:22:35

Well done GFGW !!!

I had an enforced break as had some tablets that needed to be with food not shake.

I am back and at it.

cockneydad Sun 15-Jan-12 12:21:47

Have forms signed (after several days with a charge of 20 quid...) - off to see councellor in the week all being well - might get started by next weekend (gulp)

Overtiredmum Sun 15-Jan-12 12:29:29

Good news Cockneydad, it will all be worth it! Definitely start to reduce your carbs from now, and to increase your water.

Well done, Going, fabulous weightloss - is that two weeks now?

I am on Day 8 and can't even describe how I feel. Bundles of energy, I feel almost glowing! Got home from work last night, spent some time with the kids, DH cooked himself dinner last night once the kids had gone to bed. I felt an urge to chew on some chicken, but had a glass of water, and then at 9.30 decided it would be better if I just went to bed. Have never been to bed at that time on a Saturday night, let alone sober!! Woke up feeling great.

I am back in the office again today until 6pm. I don't get paid for weekend work, but get time in lieu, so next weekend will be a 4 day-er for me.

Its damn cold out, but glorious!

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 15-Jan-12 17:26:36

Thanks smile

Overtiredmum cockneydad

Have you each got a goal?

Something to look forward to?MINE IS HEALTH CLOTHES CLOTHES CLOTHES smile

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 15-Jan-12 17:30:52

I bought a JML snuggle blanket for adults - one size - too small lol sad

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 16-Jan-12 15:31:12

Still freezing brrrr. I weighed myself yesterday in the morning and scales read 25 stones 13lb. It's coming off, I feel good, I do not care about food, I'm fantasising about being healthier and going into my fave clothes shop in tow. I want to wear a size 12 skirt and blouse. Sexy heels n tights, maybe

Where is everyone? smile

Overtiredmum Mon 16-Jan-12 17:41:41

Hi Going, I am back! Well done, you are doing great! So, how much is that in total now?

My first weigh-in tomorrow morning after 9 days - haven't been tempted to weigh myself as yet, especially since I know my scales are 3lbs out.

My DH has decided he wants me and DD to have lunch with him on Friday since I have a day off, not sure what I will do because he wants KFC, so I will probably just get it for them and sit there with a nice big cup of black coffee. I still haven't been tempted to eat anything at all, even over the weekend I kept thinking I'll just have a small chicken salad, but I just ended up with a glass of water and going to bed extremely early!! The extra sleep has been nice though.

I haven't really made any goals as yet. I am off to Scotland at easter to see my best friends, whom I haven't seen for 2 years, so am determined to be a couple of stone slimmer by then if I can. Then we're due to be having a spring/summer BBQ on 3 June, so I am currently bidding on a lovely size 12 maxi dress on Ebay, am hoping I am not pushing my luck!

My main motivation though is definition my two DC. I want to be able to run around with them and have fun with them, rather than getting puffed out after 5 minutes and sitting down watching DH have all the fun with them.

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 16-Jan-12 17:49:36

Hi smile

Officially I've lost 11.1.5LB gone - had heavy TOTM (sorry TMI)

9 day weigh will be fabuloss smile

Are you getting hungry Overtiredmum?

You have some seriously fab things planned, to lose weight for them smile

Overtiredmum Mon 16-Jan-12 18:51:31

Nope, not hungry at all. I have found that the only times I have thought about food was generally more habit than anything. Like when DS comes home from school, preparing him and DD a snack and I would have some too. Generally, that sort of thing.

Working evenings, I am very lucky in that I am taken away from the situation of everyone sitting down to dinner. I find preparing food for DH and the kids absolutely no problem, get no urges to sneak a bite or anything.

The only problem with this diet, and I can feel it sneaking back in now, is feeling fearful of eating something when you have gone without. I am actually following SS+, so am allowed a small meal, but I find for me that to take food totally out of the equation alot easier. I have been having slightly more milk than SS+ allows for though, so I am not too worried about having less calories, than having the 4 supplements. When I started CD the first time round, about 2 years ago, SS was actually 3 supplements and no milk at all, so it has changed slightly.

This is a diet you totally have to be in the right place mentally to do. I have done it before only half-hearted and although I didn't fail, I did give up really early into it after losing a stone. This time, I feel so prepared for it and know I will succeed.

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 16-Jan-12 18:56:44

Maintenance for me is being strict with calories and exercising. I do not ever want to get so huge agai
Doffs cap at Overtired I can't do smalll meals - unless in a small bucket grin

Overtiredmum Mon 16-Jan-12 19:08:28

Yes, hopefully for me, DD will be starting nursery a couple of sessions a week after easter, which will free up time for me to actually have some time for myself and do some exercise - at the moment, even without taking into account my damaged knee, there is little or no time for me to even think about exercise.

I'd love to start running, but at the moment think my health with be in serious danger from my large breasts!!

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 16-Jan-12 19:16:06

Overtiredmum I have to say I have total empathy, (on the breast front). LOL grin
I cannot remember how running feels and I did jog about when i was a teenager.

I will get a personal trainer this time and jog/run together.

My Spanish holiday is booked for 22nd October, 2012 in Majorca, Alcudia! Thomas Cook, great deal and it is an all inclusive. But I shall take Tetra packs. No food for me as I wil be around 13 stones then.
I shall keep Cambridging smile

Overtiredmum Mon 16-Jan-12 19:36:09

Don't restrict yourself too much. Being abroad you will be able to eat lovely fresh fish, with salads etc, being on holiday doesn't have to be about over-indulging. I certainly agree it will be easy to have your packs during the day, but certainly enjoy an evening meal.

No holiday abroad for us this year. Will definitely be making up for it next year though!

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 16-Jan-12 21:38:31

I haven't had a holiday since 1988. I've saved for 3 years. Alright for some, onky missing one year LOL

Overtiredmum Mon 16-Jan-12 21:57:16

Nooooooo, we haven't been abroad for 7 years, last year and the year before we had a few days away at Center Parcs, but apart from that, we've had nothing else. Too much debt. Scotland will be our only break this year, then save for next year - hopefully!

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 16-Jan-12 22:02:41

Onwards and downwards...smile

gloriana Mon 16-Jan-12 23:11:34

Hi there, I've read through all your fab posts and you are all motivating me massively! I start SS tomorrow (did it once before 2 years ago) and have 2 stone to lose. I am really excited at reading your posts especially GFGW and wish everyone good luck. Will be back tomorrow to see how people are getting on and probably in need of some support!

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 16-Jan-12 23:19:21

Welcome gloriana

Have you got a motivating goal to work towards? smile

I got furry teeth, i'm still freezing but hot cheeks.

About to have my last shake of the day.

Keep posting peeps.

fortynotfat where are you?

clairebear123 Tue 17-Jan-12 10:05:18

Well, first weigh in yesterday and 9lb off!! Feel great although am still having a mental argument with myself about how long I should keep going and is there a better way. The 9lb is keeping me motivated for now!

fortynotfat Tue 17-Jan-12 12:08:19

fantastis claire !!

I am still hanging in. Feeling positive. Had a healthn problem so having a few days off work.

I still will not be fat and forty - onwards and downwards

gloriana Tue 17-Jan-12 14:14:30

Well I've started - porridge for breakfast and have had loads of cups of hot water this morning. Seems to fill the space that likes tea with milk. Am just about to have a soup.

GFGW - no goal specifically but I would like to look nice for the summer. Sweetheart DS2 told me that he didn't want me not to be squidgy any more as I wouldn't be as cuddly smile

Fortynotfat - hope you are feeling well. I do love your mantra!

gloriana Tue 17-Jan-12 14:15:19

First weigh in for me today and 8lbs here!! Am really pleased, 28lbs to go!

Going, I know exactly what you mean about furry teeth - even the back of my throat feels furry (no rude comments please grin!!) Am also freezing cold and tonight I had my very first comment "are you on a diet, you look like you've lost weight!!" Definitely lost it in my face.

Welcome Gloriana! If you're looking for motivation, then this is definitely the place to be.

Forty welcome back, hope you are ok, and feeling better soon.

Claire - well done on the 9lbs, thats excellent!

GoingForGoalWeight Tue 17-Jan-12 17:59:59

Feeling positive today..life feels as if it is coming together again...feeling happy about 'doing up' my house a little.

gloriana Wed 18-Jan-12 09:16:25

Morning everyone! Overtired - 8lbs is brilliant - well done you. And it aways helps getting comments from people that you are looking better.

GFGW - I do like the fabuloss comment smile

I am on Day 2 and don't feel too bad although it is a real struggle to drink enough water. It just begins to taste horrible. Do you think I can get some of the flavouring yet or do you have to be in ketosis? Am feeling pleased as my jeans already feel less tight (less like they are cutting me in half grin)

fortynotfat Wed 18-Jan-12 13:31:57

I have just made Rocky road as my dc having friends over this week. It has been my downfall loads of times. Please hold my hand till the bastard Rocky road is gone.

I am strong. I will not be fat and forty. Bollocks shit. I will not be fat and forty.

Apologies. As you were.

fortynotfat Wed 18-Jan-12 14:06:14

All washed up and not a single sniff or lick. I can resist the Rocky road.

I will not be fat and forty

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 18-Jan-12 17:20:57

I'm still cold but not as cold as I was yesterday.

Nice to see peeps here posting smile

I have 12 months on sole source as i've around 15 stones to lose. Was 16 stones to lose but according to my scales today i have lost 1 stones smile

Overtiredmum Wed 18-Jan-12 17:36:47

Well done Going, thats amazing! And well done forty for not giving in to temptation. Great willpower!!

I have had a great day, Day 11 nearly over and feel marvelous, although a little tired but thats just from working straight through for the last 2 weeks with no days off, so looking forward to a nice long weekend this week. Last night in work is tomorrow - yipppeeeee!

Overtiredmum Wed 18-Jan-12 17:37:30

Just treated myself to a gorgeous maxi dress for the summer - something to work towards!

GoingForGoalWeight Wed 18-Jan-12 19:41:24

Before October I might have to guess my clothes size for my holiday. I do not have suitable clothing for a holiday in the sun and i will still be around 3 - 4 stones overweight. I might just take a few things such as jersey dresses and kaftans for the daytime. Loose fitting clothing. They'll be good to use to as cover ups on my next holiday in Maysmile
I will take some shorts too and funky tights for the evening crappy entertainment smile

slalomsuki Wed 18-Jan-12 22:16:57

Well saw my consultant yesterday and got a bit of a non supportive lecture from her.

I was put on the 1000 calorie plan as I have some blood sugar issues so need to make sure I eat in the evening. Have been doing 2 products in the day then a low calorie meal with veg/salad in the evening. She told me to try to drop the meal which I said wouldn't work and the sugar craving would come in and the shakes would follow.
Tried it today and guess what blood sugar went too low so had to eat something sweet quickly which was chocolate. Am now really annoyed as it had been working well so far and had got in to a routine. Blew out big style and followed the chocolate up with bread and butter.

Am feeling annoyed with myself, annoyed with her and demotivated.

Overtiredmum Wed 18-Jan-12 22:55:59

I think you need to tell her again the reasons why you are following Step 3 and that you need her to support you on this.

Carry on with what works for you lovely, you're doing really well. Put today down as an experiment, you know now you are right to be doing this, tomorrow's a new day.

Try not to feel too bad x

gloriana Thu 19-Jan-12 10:46:58

GFGW - 1 stone is so inspiring! Well done you!
Overtiredmum - so glad that you are feeing good
Forty - am v. impressed by the resistance of the rocky road. That takes some doing grin

I am feeling v headachy today (Day 3) and a bit low. SS seems just so hard.

DH has also booked a weekend away for one month's time and I just know it will be so hard to stick to shakes etc for the weekend. Also not very nice for him as he will be only one eating food at dinner. Do you think I should ask him to postpone the weekend or should I just go and try to manage?

gloriana Thu 19-Jan-12 10:53:45

Suki - I agree with Overtired and think that you should get back to step 3 as soon as you can. There is no point in dropping the meal if it does not work for your body - much better to do something that you can stick to. Never mind the blowout - am sure that if you are good for the rest of the week you can make up for the bread and butter and choc smile Keep up the good work - you can do it and you know what's best for your body!

Overtiredmum Thu 19-Jan-12 17:45:01

Gloriana, I think you should go away for your weekend. Take packs or bars with you, there is no harm is stepping up to, say Step 3, for the weekend, so stick to the plan during the day, and then have a high protein dinner, lots of green veg/salad, sparkling water. Then when you get home, drop back down to SS. You will be absolutely fine.

Another good day today, and looking forward to a nice 4 day weekend starting tomorrow. Am planning on eating tomorrow, purely because DH has asked me to have lunch with him, but I will be good.

NotLivingTheDream Thu 19-Jan-12 21:31:39

Hi everyone, can I join you? I started on 27/11/11 and had a couple of weeks off over xmas and new year. I have lost 2 stone so far and got 5 to go!!!

Overtiredmum Thu 19-Jan-12 21:35:39

Welcome, NotLivingTheDream! Well done on the losses, did you manage to keep it off over Xmas?

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 19-Jan-12 21:42:58

Hi suki
smile Agree with the advice you've been given so far. Maybe change your Consultant?

Hi everyone!

I'm still 100%, I feel lighter and a bit more agile.

Welcome to Notlivingthedream

You've done great so far, you'll be at goal in July if you stay on plan envy smile. All the clothes shopping, how good you'll look in the latest styles smile

NotLivingTheDream Thu 19-Jan-12 21:48:40

Thanks GFGW, yes, cant wait for all the lovely clothes, unfortunatly I wont be buying many as I have a wardrobe full of size 12s from last time I did this
blush Put it all back on following illness, marital problems and a new baby. Will not be doing that again!!!!

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 19-Jan-12 21:48:49

I'm hoping for 9 and a half stone off by end of Julysmile
Weighing about 17 stones 4lb approx#
Tthen be about 15 weeks to my holiday so another 4 stone off would be great. My Consultant said this is very achievable if i stay 100% which i fully intend to do.
So, by holiday 22nd October i will be over 13 stones in weight. Still overweight!

God knows what clothes size i'll be then...about a 14?
I'm so glad i found this diet, it really seems to suit me, so far.

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 19-Jan-12 21:50:16

What won't you be doing again? Having a baby and getting married? (hehehe)

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 19-Jan-12 21:50:55

Talking of babies, this diet raises your chances of conception apparently smile

mumof3boys01 Thu 19-Jan-12 21:51:39

Well first day for me today, was suppose to start last week but been ill plus 18mth old been ill all week so been busy. Good news is i have lost 4lbs with out trying because of this shitty bugsmile

Overtiredmum Thu 19-Jan-12 21:54:52

Yes Going, it definitely does make your more fertile! I have a DD to prove it!

Glad you're doing well.

I'm having a few days off (work, that is grin) and may not be able to get on here, so stick with it everyone, it will all be worth it!

I'll definitely be back on Tuesday, as I am back to work Tuesday night and I'll be able to tell you all how my second weigh-in went!

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 19-Jan-12 21:56:18

How are you Overtiredmum

Hope you have a good meal tomorrow with DH. How lovelty for you both.

as soon as you are home have a Cambridge, is my advice.

Do you think you might start eating lots? smile x

NotLivingTheDream Thu 19-Jan-12 21:57:12

GFGW, spot on with the marriage and baby!!!! was on this last time I fell pregnant so maybe it does help? Wish I had known then, was a bit of a shock at the time!

Overtiredmum Thu 19-Jan-12 22:03:54

It won't be anything flash and my DD will be there too. Since I have to go to his works for lunch, I may take myself a chicken salad, so I won't be deviating off track.

I find that my willpower is so much stronger this time round - I am very determined. I feel so much better about myself - this really is an amazing diet. My friend is also on this diet with me, first time for her, and she is doing really well too and was really encouraged by her first loss.

Thanks for the advice, I definitely will have a cambridge once I get home. I also have a delicious bar to look forward to in the evening too!

Ooooo really spoiling myself!! grin

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 19-Jan-12 22:03:56

I'd love another baby smile I have PCOS. I'd want a girl this time. (bad GFGW).

I wrote a nice reply to mumof3boys but my netbook ate it. Will type again in a bit smile

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 19-Jan-12 22:08:10

It does feel for me as if I'm spoiling myself as you know I'm morbidly obese, the nutritional value in this diet has elevated my mood. I feel I want better for myself in all areas of my life smile

They do say..

Nothing tastes as good as SLIM feels!

It's great isn't it to feel so differnt so quickly even though it can be a little hideous at the start and the feelings of that something being missing. The ruine of food etc It is/was/always be a serious addiction for me.

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 19-Jan-12 22:09:07

Overtiredmum Thu 19-Jan-12 22:14:29

Totally agree.

I'm on Day 12 now, and I think it was yesterday, I suddenly realised that I hadn't thought about food all day for the first time since starting it! Can't say as I am particularly craving anything at the moment, which is odd, thought I would be craving bread by now. So its great that I am not.

I do think its more the routine of eating that is the hardest to overcome, as opposed to the actual food itself.

But hey, I can't complain, my house has never looked so clean!

GoingForGoalWeight Fri 20-Jan-12 09:18:41

Overtired come to my house - it's a disgrace
I'm cold again this morning.

Weigh in 13.45pm - oooh

Tired this morning but got to go shopping.

GoingForGoalWeight Fri 20-Jan-12 15:47:19

5 and a half pounds off grin

25 stones 8lb

1 stones 3 and a half pounds off smile

Feeling good. Consultant said I looked radiant smile

GoingForGoalWeight Fri 20-Jan-12 16:18:37

210 pounds to go/lose!

NotLivingTheDream Fri 20-Jan-12 17:34:28

You will be at goal before you know it.

GoingForGoalWeight Fri 20-Jan-12 17:39:55

Hi Not - thanks smile

The ketoss high is wonderful smile

How you getting on Not?

tiredofbeingfat Fri 20-Jan-12 18:31:46

Day 10 for me today! I have to admit it really hasn't been easy sad I still think about food all day! I have to wait until Monday for my first weigh in and I don't feel any different! My trousers are not loose, so I am hoping something has come off!

Well done to everyone on such great loses, I hope I will be joining you next week X

dollydonuts Fri 20-Jan-12 23:44:37

Hi Everyone!
I thought i would join you all. It is nice to see the support that you give each other, and i could really do with some! I am going to start cambridge again tomorrow {yes i know saturday} but no time like the present. I thought if i share my weekly weigh in with all of you it will hopefully give me the incentive to do it properly, and not cheat like i have been doing. I'm sure that if i can just get through the first 3-4 days i will be fine. BTW i was supposed to start on jan 1st! which i did, until the next day, when i gave in to my cravings angry. This is how it's gone on since then. Anyway keep up the good work everyone. I've got a lot of catching up to do! smile I will weigh in the morning and post my starting weight.

NotLivingTheDream Sat 21-Jan-12 10:19:59

Hi Dolly hope you are doing ok so far, like you say, the key is to get through the first few days. Just do anything to keep busy and have early nights to stop evening picking! Are you wanting to lose much?

I am on day nine of my post christmas restart and feeling great on it now. I have a few upcoming events so focussing on being slim for those helps me!

Have a good weekend everyone.

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 21-Jan-12 11:18:32

Hi tired smile Have you got a good set of scales? If so weigh yourself at home in the morning unless you get discouyraged by no weight loss showing, it has to be coming off as the calories are so low. I think you'll be surprised to know on Monday you have lost. I've just started to notice feeling more comfy in my jeans.

I have a Salter digital which were about 20 pounds in Argos. Took me a while to get them, but managed.

Hi dolly Welcome! - You seem ambitious smile Have you got a goal? Maybe go to the travel agents and put a deposit on a holiday? Who doesn't want to look their best on holiday? Eat plenty of protien, no carbs the das before Cambridge worked for me. Good luck, hope to see you tomorrow.

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 21-Jan-12 11:23:29

Notlivingthedream - Hi smile Good to see you and read your positive posts x

Having a goal to work towards ie upcoming events or holiday etc is a great incentive. Eat that food you are craving or feel overweight in that outfit or by the poolside etc.

I know which is worth more! It isn't tasty food we do without and don't really need. If really hungry have four packs of Cambridge per day instead of three. Four is a lot for me at the moment I struggle to consume them.

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 21-Jan-12 11:39:45

17lb off in 20 days! smile for me.

210 lb to go..

slalomsuki Sat 21-Jan-12 12:45:17

Well Saturday weigh in and despite blowing out big style on Wednesday and Thursday I have lost another 2llbs. Back on it today though.

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 21-Jan-12 13:16:15

2lb off is great! Salom

Onwards and downwards.

dollydonuts Sat 21-Jan-12 14:11:36

Hi All.
Thanks for your messages. Ok so far. My starting weight this morning was 17 stone 2 pounds sad. Notlivingthedream- I need to lose at least a couple of stone, as i'm wanting to get pregnant. Doctor has said i need to lose some weight,as i suffer with high blood pressure, which is weight related.I have lost weight in the past and my blood pressure came right down. 17 stone is not a good starting weight for pregnancy,{in my case anyway} what with the higher risk of pre-eclampsia etc. Goingforgoalweight- I'm inspired by you! Well done with your weight loss. grin Now you mention it, a holiday does sound good!

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 21-Jan-12 14:20:01

Thomas Cook are offering low deposits i could have paid £75 per person with weeks to pay off the remainder. I didn't know holidays were paid for that way as my parents would decide to go and payin full so i saved the amount over three years.

After October I'm worried because i will have eaten and might not beable to get back on so I'm saving now for a short break in March 2013. About time!
Thinkingof the Isle Of Wight at the Premier nn for example.

Last Christmas i was 17 stones 2lb!

I think i might get down to that in June 2012 ish time.

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 21-Jan-12 15:22:57

12lb off is fab! sorry i missed your post and a warm welcome to you x

how are you doing? we are similar weights - i need you x

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 21-Jan-12 15:24:20

Overtiredmum What's happening? smile x come tell us so we can support you x

cockneydad Sat 21-Jan-12 18:41:52

I finally have GP signed letter (for the princely sum of 20 quid) - going to see councillor at end of the month and make a start beginning of Feb (I have a couple of work dos to get out the way first !)

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 21-Jan-12 19:39:57

cockney hi! smile

Remember to prepare, eat lots of meat, salad cottage cheese or whichever protien foods you like before starting Caambridge, if you can. Realluy helps to prepare mentally and physically.

Hope to see you soon.

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 21-Jan-12 21:08:22

don't forget the

look here too

gloriana Sat 21-Jan-12 21:11:45

Hi all, am having bit of a low day today - feel v headachy and faint. This is Day 5 so am hoping that it will settle down soon. Am v impressed with such weight loss from all! Will keep motivated but have now got to contend with DH worrying about me being faint.

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 21-Jan-12 21:22:12

gloriana hi smile

Sorry you're having bad day but i think more water may help and one extra pack? If after that you still feel faint have a can of tuna in spring water or some chicken with some cottage cheese. Maybe 810 plan might suit you better? Let us know how you are to stop me worrying.

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 21-Jan-12 21:35:04

The weight losses on the weight loss surgery site is not as good as weight losses on Cambridge. Some of them eat too much STILL after all that. I'd probably do the same at some point, but i hope not. i really didn't want to go down that route.
Some losses are 1 lb per week or 2lb consustantly and they have similar weight to lose as i do.

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 21-Jan-12 21:45:27

Considering the losses are via a 500 calorie consumption per day. 1 - 2lb is ideal weight loss but i am extreme morbidly obese and need to get fit soon. I do not want a heart attack or a stroke. Quick weight loss has to be worth it.

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 22-Jan-12 13:47:11

I've had 1.5 litres of water and one shake. Lovely weather today here, nice bright sunshine. I'm going to do every single bit of housework and washing today. Housework is exercise grin

I shall come and have a look in the thread later.

The Cambridge Weightplanners forum is so dull and full of negativity.

I avoid it as much as possible.

mumof3boys01 Sun 22-Jan-12 14:03:52

Well a few days in and it has not been as bad a i thought it would be ,the only thing that i have found difficult is having to wee every hr because of all the water i am drinking, has anyone found the same and does it get better .Not to bad join the day but at night with all the weeing and a teething toddler i am missing my sleep.
My goal is to be able to buy clothes i like rather that i will buy it because it fits, not many shops cater for a size 32 sad.
Going to stick with the 4 shakes a day next week, then i was going to have the porridge for breakfast then a shake a bar for dinner then a shake for supper.
Well done on your weight lose *GoingForGoalWeight you are doing brilliant,You are all doing really well.
Was going to set up my profile to start my before and after pictures anyone going to do the same.

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 22-Jan-12 14:08:33

Hi mumof3boys I really thought you'd left us! smile

Yes weeing a lot too,but it has reduced in frequency. Weeing means you are drinking sa lot and your body is ridding itself of other fluids, including fat smile

TMI alert!

Sometimes i notice a white film on my wee, might be fat!

I wil set up my before and after profile but when there is a definate difference in my weight.

slalomsuki Sun 22-Jan-12 19:13:17

Had a good day yesterday and stuck to my products/calorie goal. Today is a different matter. Have a stinking cold and just feel like eating comfort food which I have resisted so far. Did have a ham sandwich at lunchtime though as I needed to eat.

Dont expect much at weigh in on Tuesday.

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 22-Jan-12 21:07:13

Get well soon slalomsuki smile

I've just had my third shake, got almost all of upstairs clean. Good exercise! I let the house go so much as I could hardly move due to my weight and carb addiction.
Life is easier on my daily activites smile

slalomsuki Mon 23-Jan-12 08:52:39

Thanks going.
Feel a bit better today and have dosed my self up with cold and flu as I have a 13 hour day at work.

However am also feeling a bit more positive as I have to dress smartly today and the suit that didn't fit me for an interview a month ago is comfortable and smart today. Made me feel good.

Lost a gold ear ring though between the house, school run and work.

NotLivingTheDream Mon 23-Jan-12 10:09:53

Just thought I would share my news: today on the school run, i got my first "oh my god, you've lost loads of weight" comment. grin

That one will keep me motivated!!!
Have a good day all.

gloriana Mon 23-Jan-12 14:14:15

Hi all, feel much better today. Think the problem on Sat was that I slept too much and so didn't have any water or food and my body was just telling me that it didn't like that one little bit!

Have been on 1.5 hour walk this morning with some friends so feel very good about myself (if even a little smug grin). Off to first weigh in now so will pop in later to let you know how it went.

GFGW - thank you for your concern - you are a sweetie! Glad that you are still doing well - you are my inspiration grin

Notliving - last time I did Cambridge I got a comment after a week and this time no one has said anything. Then I remembered that whenever I go out now I have a massive warm coat on and last time was summer! Well done you for getting a comment though - it makes it all worthwhile.

Suki - hope you get better

Mumof3boys - the weeing does for me too - I've been up at 2am every night this week!

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 23-Jan-12 14:26:27

gloriana relived to know you're OK. WELL DONE for the walking! I need to start mine too. God weather we're having too, here. smile

slaomsuki my jeans are a nicer fit too, it is such a gorgeous feeling grin

fortynotfat where are you? let us know so we can listen, non-judgemental support xx

I think it will take 6 stones off before people notice with me but i really don't want them too, just mind their own business! As i know they'll be watching to see if i pile it back on.

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 23-Jan-12 14:39:43

To think about the fact I have SIX stones to go before I am in the 19 stones zone.

IS shock

Oh well twelve months time I'll be there but still learning, of course.

gloriana Tue 24-Jan-12 10:02:42

GFGW - at the rate you're losing weight it will be no time at all before you're feeling and looking much better!

I had my weigh in yesterday and I lost 4 pounds in 6 days so feeling very pleased with myself. Then I was SO hungry last night that I nearly caved in and ate something. I am on Day 7 today so hope that it is still settling down and that I will get used to it soon.

Miserable day here today so no walking - just want to curl up with a good book grin

Hope everyone is doing well.

slalomsuki Tue 24-Jan-12 10:25:02

Well done Gloria. I have wavered sometimes but I can see the difference and you will too.

Just had my "official" weigh in and another 3lbs gone this week and that's despite a weekend of eating. 10lbs in 3 weeks now and I can feel it.

Going. Keep at it and don't think of a large goal, break it down in to manageable targets. Mine is 2 stone out of 5 at least I need to loose and it seems achievable.

Overtiredmum Tue 24-Jan-12 18:41:24

Hello, hello, hello!!

Well done everyone, seems like everyone is doing really well. I have had a lovely few days at home with the kids, have achieved absolutely loads, and feel great.

Being home with the kids, its not so easy to get away with not eating, so I have had to had a couple of small meals, one Friday and one Sunday. Official weigh-in was this morning, and was looking forward to it, until I woke up this morning for TOTM a whole week early, but still managed another 4lbs, which I am pleased with considering the small meals and TOTM, so that is now 12lbs off for me in 2 weeks. Am now on Day 17, and am doing great! Some of my size 16 trousers are now hanging off me, my hair is absolutely gleaming and I really do feel great (apart from TOTM!! Gggrrrrrrr!) I do think this is the most focussed I have ever been on this diet and feel really, really determined.

jess2007 Tue 24-Jan-12 18:42:39

hi everyone.
I am going to start the cd on thursday, i am getting my food for the week tomorrow. I am feeling a bit nervous as to what to expect.
I have been reading all the posts, finding that everyone is doing so well. Hope to be losing lbs very soon.

NotLivingTheDream Tue 24-Jan-12 20:20:59

Well done all, Just back from weigh in, 4lbs gone - yay!

GoingForGoalWeight Tue 24-Jan-12 21:29:05

Fab to see you all!

Welcome jess2007

I've been cleaning the house!!! shock I know! lol

Feeling good, still 100%, 24 days straight!

clairebear123 Wed 25-Jan-12 13:31:53

Just a quick update, glad everyone is still so positive! Lost another 4 this week so am really pleased and am back into the next size down...still 2 sizes to go though,

Also wanted to say hi to Dollydonuts, getting pregnant is the best ever reason for doing this, you have something massive to focus on and it will be fantastic to get there! I wish you huge buckets of luck!

Overtiredmum Wed 25-Jan-12 20:12:36

VeryStressedMum Thu 26-Jan-12 17:51:22

Everyone seems to be really motivated and positive on here it's great! grin.
I'm still doing 1000, though my own version of it most of the time, sometimes I miss SS just because it was so convenient, no need to think just drink shakes grin.
4 stones 5lb off in 4 months last week, loving Cambridge smile

Overtiredmum Thu 26-Jan-12 18:33:05

Wow, well done VeryStressed!

Feeling abit sluggish today but think thats just TOTM. Day 19 nearly over and done with!

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 26-Jan-12 20:04:00

Yay peeps! smile

My weigh in is tomorrow afternoon.

Stressed that's very god smile and encouraging, I might have more to lose so could lose more than that in the same timeframe. Be good to be a few stones under 20 stones!

I'm still 100%

GoingForGoalWeight Thu 26-Jan-12 20:04:31

*good not god grin

mumof3boys01 Thu 26-Jan-12 20:22:51

Well had my weigh in today lost 12lbs so that now makes me 25st1lb,only 2 more pound and i will be in the 24's smile.Willpower as been sliding a bit the last few days, but been looking at lovely clothes today and feel very motivated again.

Starreaching Thu 26-Jan-12 20:46:50

Hello all you lovely ladies (and Gentleman!). I've been reading this fantastic thread since Christmas and am trying to find the courage you all have to make a real difference in my life and weight.

Cambridge will hopefully be my answer as I'm soooo desperate to lose weight but I'm terrified of going to a Cambridge counsellor and being weighed. How awful is it? I rarely leave the house due to my weight which makes it really nerve wracking to think of but I know this is the time. I can't spend another year like this.

GFGW you have really inspired me as you seem to be overcoming similar problems. I'm so proud of what you've already achieved and only hope I can find similar strength.

I'm amazed at everyone on here actually and would love to be part of your thread once I've plucked up the courage to start. Would you advise speaking to doctor first?

Well done everyone and good luck going forward. Sorry for long post!

VeryStressedMum Thu 26-Jan-12 21:21:23

GFGW that's great weight loss, keep going - I really can 'see' a change in your posts from the beginning you're so much more upbeat and positive it' sfantastic smile

Star - call a consultant and speak to her. Then make an appointment. Then GO. You can do it you really can. Leaving the house for your appointment will be the step towards your new life.
I had my consultants number for a while before I actually called her and I've never once regretted it. In fact it's the best thing I've ever done because 4 months ago I was unhappy and a little depressed. Now I'm about 7lbs to goal and I cannot tell you how much better I feel.

Because time passes anyway. The week that you wait to call the consultant means a week lost on your way to a new and better life for you. This time next week if you don't call you will be in exactly the same place you are now. However, if you see her this time next week you could be a few days into the new you and it will make such a difference to how you feel - just read through GoingForGoalWeight's posts and see how she's changed!!!

Let us know how you get on and good luck xxxx

ps well done mumof3boys too!!

slalomsuki Thu 26-Jan-12 22:47:23

Well done everybody. Good weight losses all round and some good support.

Am still plodding on and feeling good. Have a business lunch tomorrow that may be a problem but I will manage as best as I can.

Starreaching Fri 27-Jan-12 14:13:37

Thank you for your post Verystressedmum! You're right I know and I WILL take that step to health. I have the name of a CDC who lives quite near me and have sent an email. Terrifying but exciting at the same time.

If all the positive stories on this post are anything to go by then maybe this is the last year I will feel and look like this!

It will take me at least a year though, even at a stone a month sad

Brilliant news Mumof3boys - 12lbs is incredible!!

gloriana Fri 27-Jan-12 14:43:17

Hello everybody and well done to all the fab weight losses!

Star - welcome and best of luck with your journey. We will all be here to hear all about how you get on - the good and the bad. You have already been incredibly brave and now have to take the last step towards a new you smile

Cockneydad - where are you? How are you getting on?

I am feeling very smug today as last night I went to a mum's night out at the most gorgeous Chinese restaurant and sat there drinking my sparkling water while everyone else ate loads. Luckily everyone there was very supportive of the fact that I am trying to lose weight (I told them it was a detox as well which always goes down well in Jan). Sometimes people try and make you eat something so I was a bit nervous about going.

Hunger not too bad today but is always worse in the evening/night. Day 11 today for me and feeling very good!

GoingForGoalWeight Fri 27-Jan-12 15:20:14

cockneydad Fri 27-Jan-12 16:25:02

I need to drop about 5 stone - new baby due in July, hoping to get some off by then!

Starreaching Fri 27-Jan-12 16:31:31

GFGW - OMG!! 2st in less than a month is just amazing! I can't belive how well you're doing.

I've just had a response from the CDC who sounds really nice and lost alot herself and I am going to see her on Tuesday (after getting form signed). I am so going to try this, I can't wait to be able to feel as positive as all of you and to see myself shrinking!

GoingForGoalWeight Fri 27-Jan-12 16:44:15

Thsnks Star smile Good luck with your Consultant on Tuesday.

Eats lots and lots of protein 2 days before, cut cars out altogether if you can, before this eat everything you love, copius amounts, make a food list.

Same goes for cockney
made the journey to ketosis so much easier for me and i felt in kicking in on the evening of day 2.

Overtiredmum Fri 27-Jan-12 17:37:46

Wow wow wow Going - 6lbs! Well done you! You're doing really well so keep it up!!

I "unofficially" weighed myself today and I have reached the 1 stone mark, so thats 14lbs in 19 days and am really pleased! That means I have 1 stone and 8 lbs to go until target! Although, I am thinking I may just carry on until I am totally happy.

BUT, had a massive boost - just got in to work and someone told me I am looking skinny!! grin

Look forward to you joining us Cockneydad and Starreaching - you are taking a massive step towards changing your lives, and it is so worth it!

cockneydad Fri 27-Jan-12 18:50:52

Looking forward to getting going - my only worry is the first couple of days and the cost - we are on a v tight budget, but think we can make it work !! Well done everyone with the losses so far !!

Overtiredmum Fri 27-Jan-12 19:12:33

Cockneydad you will be fine. As Going said earlier, just make sure you cut out carbs and increase your water a few days before, and that will really help. But your CDC should tell you that anyway.

The cost can be pretty daunting, but you have to weigh it up against what you may spend for food on yourself for a week.

GoingForGoalWeight Fri 27-Jan-12 19:35:21

The cost is killing me! But i worked out i spend not much less on food for myself per week anyway. I never go out in the car to cover the cost. I'm very bored! I've found some amazing videos on Youtube regards big weight losers. I'm definately worried about saggy skin, I'm bound to have a lot of it as in total i had 210lb to lose. I've done it to myself, so can't complain too much.

Just help your body to get into ketosis by ewating meat, eggs, fish, small amount of salad. You will be so grateful . Drink 3 - 4 litres of water if you can as staves off hunger, if desparate and physically active at work have an extra spaced out pack.
I'm not bothered about conventional food but i do still miss it but I rather see what i can achieve, how far i will go and push myself on to the next day.

Ketosis is good but i do wonder if there are any added secret mood lifting ingredients in the packs! smile

Starreaching Fri 27-Jan-12 19:36:05

Thank you Gloriana, Overtired and GFGW. Wow, this is such a welcoming board!

Cockneydad we're starting at about the same time hopefully! I'm worried about the first few days too - really worried! I don't think I've ever actually felt hungry! blush.

It will be a new experience but think how glad we'll be when the weight starts to vanish!

Thank you everyone for having me smile

GoingForGoalWeight Fri 27-Jan-12 19:37:41

Thanks overtiredmum xx

8lb to go until target! oooh gosh you've done brilliantly! i hope you feel really proud and pleased x

I cannot wait and dream of the day i can say

Not long now Overtiredmum keep going x

GoingForGoalWeight Fri 27-Jan-12 19:40:17

OMG 8lb to go! I can't believe how well you've done

YOUR'E AMAZING Overtiredmum

do we get pics? grin

Overtiredmum Fri 27-Jan-12 19:52:46

Not 8 lbs - I wish! 1 stone and 8lbs, so 22lbs in total to go, but I think I will carry on and make it another 2 stone.

GoingForGoalWeight Fri 27-Jan-12 20:10:44

Oh! grin

Still be off in no time and in time for the Summer. I'm looking forward to it this year.

Overtiredmum Fri 27-Jan-12 20:19:48

Me too!

mumof3boys01 Fri 27-Jan-12 21:42:13

Well done GoingForGoalWeight you are doing so fab.

Welcome Starreaching you sound so like me i hate leaving the house so ashamed i have let myself get so overweight, but now you have taken the first steps to start living life again smile.

Congratulations on your new baby in July Cockneydad.

Also well done every one else you are all doing brill.gloriana to be able to go to a restaurant and not give in to temptation is a wonderful achievement, especially chinese my favorite grin

Going to start my walking tomorrow, so a early night for me so i can reserve my energy.

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 28-Jan-12 14:59:50

Thank you mumof3 smile

My boobs are saggy, saggy totally sagged. Two torpedo shapes ready to fire at the floor sp gawd knows what they'll be like at Christmas sad

I'm really dreading saggy skin, i guess i'll have to save about 8 grand for a body lift - fat chance!

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 28-Jan-12 15:03:01

I was really tired last night after a busy day and i only managed 2 shakes. Naughty me! Guess it might happen time to time so I'll make up for it today. I do not feel hungry and as a result of yesterday's naughtiness i was 24 stone 13lb this morning!
Drinking lots, feeling GREAT, upbeat positive.

How about you, reader?

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 28-Jan-12 17:10:40

This is how i make up my Cambridge shake

I use a blender, ready crushed ice from Sainsbury's (saves blades), far less room temp water than reommended, pour the shake powder on and whizz.

Texture should be like McDonald's milkshake and i drink through one of their straws as they are wide and strong enough.

They are really yummy if you do it properly smile

Chocolate mint - yum

No other milkshake I've ever tried on a weight loss programme can match the quality - IMO.

I could NOT drink the shakes any other way, yuck. grin

slalomsuki Sat 28-Jan-12 18:06:25

Another week gone and I have discovered there is a pattern to my week. I am fine Monday to Friday and can generally stick to what I am doing. Saturday is a different thing altogether with the craving and snacking kicking in. Sunday then comes round and provided I have some distraction with the kids I can get back on track.

Weigh in on Monday this week and I have a lot to live up to with all of your successes.

GoingForGoalWeight Sat 28-Jan-12 19:08:36

slalomski My Consultant told me that some people go off plan on weekends and go back on weekdays smile

She also said that people when maintaining have 3 packs and one meal in the weekday evening consisting of anything with no snacks afterwards.

You are doing fab x

gloriana Sat 28-Jan-12 19:10:33

GFGW - keep it up you are doing brilliantly! Must make sure that you eat the right amount each day though - 2 shakes is too little and your body will suffer. Love the fact that you have told us how you make your shakes. I am far too hungry by the time I actually have one so just pour in water and blend with hand blender. I try to leave as much time as possible between each meal.

Am off out tonight to dinner party with 6 other people. I know the hosts but not the 2 other couples coming and am hoping that they don't think I'm massively rude by not eating. It is a Burns night dinner so frankly am quite glad I don't have to eat haggis but might be tempted by the lentil curry that she is also doing - that can't be too bad if I have a tiny bit can it?

Also know that DH will want me to have a glass of wine (or 5!) and will be difficult to resist if everyone else is drinking.

What we have to go through for this diet....

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 29-Jan-12 13:44:43

Hi gloriana thanks x

How was last night? If you can, have a pack today and start again asap.

I feel good today smile

I'm dreaming of summer dresses. i think i'm going to need some style advice when i get to around 17 stones!

What kind of style. shape of summer dress will suit me!

When i'm at goal i want one of those Mary Portas style dresses grin shift dress, capped sleeves, thin colourful belt, tights, high heel boot type shoes.

I'm thinking curly hair might suit me as i have a sharp nose (of which i hate)

gloriana Sun 29-Jan-12 18:16:40

Last night was ok and I only cheated by having a glass of red wine and a tiny bit of lentil curry. Think I did well considering the hostess kept putting food in front of me! Luckily the others didn't ask why I wasn't eating any food but I definitely got some odd looks once the guy next to me realised I wasn't eating. Felt so rude as all this lovely food had been cooked and I was saying no thanks I'll have this lovely nutritious shake instead!

Today has been hard. Cooked roast lamb and apple pie for my boys and DH and it smelt SO good. Was very hard to resist. Never mind will be worth it in the end....

GoingForGoalWeight Sun 29-Jan-12 18:56:30

I wouldn't say you cheated - you had a night off for a very good reason smile Good luck getting back into ketosis, in the zone.

I never get invited anywhere so I do not have the same worry. I imagine it must be very hard x You did well and were confident enough to eat what you wanted to eat. smile

slalomsuki Mon 30-Jan-12 11:38:13

Ok weigh in today and have only lost 1/2 lb. my own scales say 2lbs but counsellors say 1/2.

Feel better though and parked car outside ring road in town this morning and walked to work do feeling good.

Will keep at it.

Keep up the good work everyone.

gloriana Mon 30-Jan-12 13:26:42

Well done Slalomsuki! Any loss is better than none smile. I've got my weigh in this afternoon and am bit worried as is TOTM so expecting that won't have lost a great deal. Will pop in later to update everyone...

gloriana Mon 30-Jan-12 18:18:28

Weigh in and lost 3 lbs and more importantly 2 inches from my waist!! Am so chuffed and feel inspired to keep going. Luckily is Day 14 today so have got some yummy bars from my CDC. Looking forward to a toffee one for supper...

Overtiredmum Mon 30-Jan-12 19:57:05

Well done Gloriana and Slalomsuki!

Weigh in for me tomorrow morning, hoping for a large(ish) number. Feeling great, Day 23 for me. Had a couple of very small meals over the weekend, but that was purely because the DC were around, and I don't want them to see me not eating.

Must say, I am sleeping sooooo much better these days and to wake up without a hangover is marvelous grin

Going, how are you today?

GoingForGoalWeight Mon 30-Jan-12 23:21:45

Hi slimmers smile
