Hi all - I am a newbie to posting here but have been lurking a while. Talking of lurks (wink) I really want to ask if I can call on you guys for some support? I am about to embark on trying to lose a serious amount of weight (cos man I need to) and know it won't be easy. I have pcos which makes it doubly difficult but as 40 is fast approaching I really need to do this. Will keep you all posted on my progress - watch this space

Heya. I have just started on a new diet- slimming world and have about 2 stone maybe a little more to lose. I have had 2 kids in 2 years and after having dd I put a stone on because I ate a little bit too much ben and jerrys, well a lot actually and have sat on my bum for the past 4 months. I have decided to totally overhaul my image with a hair cut, losing weight and getting a few choice items for my wardrobe. I started slimming world and lost 4 1/2 lbs in my first week so Im hoping to lose about 3 this week.
If you want some support I dont mind chatting to you and encouraging you along. How much weight are you intending to lose? Its my 21st in january so Im aiming to be looking fab for that. So like you I have a goal as such

Good luck! I started a low Gi diet a couple of weeks ago and have lost about 8lb so far!! I've got 7 stone to lose altogether (well a little bit more than that to get me to a healthy weight but 7stone seems enough to begin with!!).

Thanks for all your replies. Trying to really just cut out the crap and do some exercise and hoping I can take baby steps. Like you fairymel I would like to lose about seven stone but seems like a huge way to go. But hey Rome wasn't built in a day. if I get brave tomorrow will go to boots and weigh myself or will maybe go and buy some scales. Never owned any - obviously where I have gone wrong til now

I'm very impressed with the Gi diet so far. DH has just been diagnosed t2 diabetic so its the ideal one for him to follow too.

loflo... I can really recommend the Gi diet. I went and got some books from the library to start me off. Its an easy one to stick to and more of a lifestyle change than a quick diet

Loflo one thing I would say is dont have scales in your house because I would find myself weighing myself every day and expect to see a weight loss. When i didnt i would feel upset and so eat somethng I shouldnt. I would say go somewhere to be weighed ie boots once a week and that way you cant fall into the trap that I did. Im doing a lot better now just weighing myself once a week.
