I've only ever done WW, it's great as it makes you keep a food diary (a tracker) so you are aware of what you are eating, and as it's points based nothing is out of bounds, your just find yourself making more careful choices. This way you can also 'save' points for something special, so a meal out or an extra drink etc. You also can accumulate points by exercise.

Not sure about Slimming WOrld, never done it.

slimming world is different as you dont count what you eat, you just eat certain things on certain days, and there are syns for naughty things approx 15 a day

so today 'green day' limited meats lots of pasta, rice, pots, veggies, eggs, beans, pulses,

on red days limited pasta but lots of lean meats, eggs, fish, dairy, most vegs (not pots)

i like it

Hi all, I will join you too, dd3 is 7 weeks old, I put on nearly 4 stone when pregnant, lost 2 afterwards, so still have 2 to go - but I was already half a stone over my weightwatchers goal weight before I got pregnant (and that was my revised goal weight - 9lb more than before I got pregnant for the first time). I tried counting points myself at home last week but didn't do very well, so today I joined Slimming World for the first time. I'm trying to work out how it all works - had a green day today and have just eaten loads of pasta so feel nice and full.

Wasn't very impressed by the SW scales, they said 13st 3.5lb but my own said 12st 12.5lb. I just felt disappointed I was still over 13 stone - heavier than I was when 9 months pregnant with dd1! Still, gives me a nice target to aim for this week, if I lose 4lb (which I might in the first week, fingers crossed), I will have broken the 13 stone barrier and will be motivated to continue. Have also paid for 6 weeks' membership to make me go back.

I need to join please too.

35 years and no sweet tooth.

1 baby and now I craaaaaave sugar.

Dinner: the hugest spaghetti bolognese in the universe. The minute I put my fork down on the side of my empty plate: "I don't feel satisfied... think I might go to the shop and buy a magnum".

Well, I didn't buy a magnum. But I did manage to find some baking chocolate in the larder.

I don't recognise myself anymore and that gets me down. More so in photos that anything else. I looked at some recent photos of me and what struck me most was how fat my ARMS are!

Anyway, I will have to convert my WW scales to stones and pounds (am a kiwi and we work in KG), but I have 11 kilograms to lose (not sure how that converts).

Have drunk too much wine tonight. This is becoming a naughty habit. I express milk twice during the day and have a full bottle in the fridge for Charlie's night feed. Then I have been having 3 or 4 glasses of wine at night. If my boobs get full I just pump and dump. Bad Mummy.

CilC, I've not been to Weightwatchers for a while but the last time I went there were 2 options - either you could eat as much as you wanted from a limited range of foods (lean meat, fish, potatoes, rice, pasta, fruit and veg, skimmed milk, cereal - but not bread) and then have a small amount of extra ponts to spend on other foods, or you are allocated a set number of points each day to spend on anything that you want to. Points are calculated by looking at the calories and saturated fat in the food.

I've only just started Slimming World, so I'm still getting to grips with it, but each day you can choose either a red day or a green day. on a red day you can eat as much lean meat as you like, but carbs are limited, whereas on a green day you can eat most carbs (but not bread) but meat is limited. You can add extras as 'Syns' and fruit and veg is free on red and green days. so far I have felt very full, but I'm not sure whether I'm actually losing weight - will let you know next Thurs.

Jodie, you did very well to only have 20 points, I had 30 a day (while breastfeeding) and still struggled to stick to it!

SnoopDog - that doesn't seem like a lot f food for a bfing woman. You only seem to have eaten 2 meals, did you miss breakfast/lunch? That would make you hungry.

I was doing well yesteday until a bbq in the evening, when I thought I'd just have meat and salad - hadn't realised that sausages are not free food though chicken is. So I used a lot of Syns what with that and the 2 glasses of wine! Then at 11pm I had a text from the slimming world class leader, saying that 1 bad day won't ruin the week - I think she must have CCTV installed here! Going to the beach today, so making pasta salad to take to avoid temptation of cheese rolls, fish and chips and ice cream.

Hi all...

Hope your all getting on OK?

Ponto I didn't realise you lived in Cardiff, my DH say's it's lovely there and move tomorrow, would love to go. All I;ve seen of it is what's on Torchwood! grin

Food wise, I've had quite a bad weekend, it's DS1's 2nd birthday tomorrow so we went out with friends for a pub lunch yesterday and I toyed with the idea of having a Jacket Potato, but thought stuff it and had a steak baguette and chips instead we then went round Carsington Waters (a HUGE resevoir, so beautiful) and played Footie with DS1, so did do some exercise... Then went out last night and although I only had Tuna Fishcakes for tea, I had 4 glasses of wine! Then today been for sunday lunch at MIL and had loads of birthday cake (well I paid for it, it would have been rude not too!)

Hi All,

4lb loss over the last week but was bad last night - 3 glasses of red, some crisps and some Japanese rice crackers!

My exercise bike isn't working either - computer is knacked so they will need to send me another. I am going to go back to bellydancing this week though and I have been doing abdominal lifts, weights, butt crunches and saddlebag lifts! So at least if I tone up the muscle burns more cals than fat.

How many lbs since last week all?

Do you think we should have a list of start weights, dates and weight loss? Might help to motivate us all and cheer us on.

Well must be off as DD has a pooey bum and it honks!
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By ponto on Mon 15-Sep-08 21:13:51
Well done on 4lb loss WW. I get on the scales every morning but am going to have my official weigh-in at Slimming World on Thurs, so will let you know then. Seems to be going in the right direction so far though, should have lost a pound or two I hope.

SnoopDog, this is what I have eaten today (a good day):

Breakfast: porridge with milk and sweetener (would usually have syrup but not while on diet)

Snack: cereal bar and an apple

Lunch: Tuna and salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, peas, sweetcorn, celery, fat free French dressing) with quinoa (first time I had tried this and not sure if I cooked it properly), followed by natural yogurt with sweetener

Snack: Low fat chocolate crispy bar

Dinner: Beef and veg casserole with huge pile of mashed potato

I am still deciding what to have for pudding - would have fruit salad with yogurt but only have hard, unripe nectarines and kiwis in the house, and no yogurt - must go shopping tomorrow!

So you see I eat plenty, it's all allowed on Slimming World though so I hope I do still lose weight.

Hi all, Well done on your 4lbs WW!!! I'm very envy

I have my 'official' weigh in tomorrow so will let you know, but it's no where near 4lbs!

I have shirked on the exercise this week, just done the Davina DVD once, but am starting back at Aqua next week (note to self, must get swimming cossie) and there is talk of doing a Spinning Class too.

Had a REALLY bad day yesterday, we went to Twycross Zoo (Thomasland closed grrr angry) but we still had a good day, anyway, took picnic and it was cheese and onion rolls, sausage rolls, pork pies, and these mose amazing mini Jam Donuts from Waitrose!!!! Yummy... Looks like I;m going have to survive on lettuse leaves today wink no biscuit for me at Mother and Toddler!

It's prob a good idea to have a 'list' to keep us going! We can update it when we have our 'official' weigh ins as we all have them on different days, seems pointless having another day for them here. As mine is tomorrow, I'll add my name to a list then! smile

Have a good day girlies

Well done Jodie!

LOL SnoopDog, your day sounds like mine! , I had a bad day yesterday, as we had someone round for dinner, so I started the evening with a gin and tonic, and then dh cooked roast potatoes, which were irresistable. Wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't then followed them with 2 portions of ice cream - well, there was only one scoop left when I was clearing up, it wasn't worth putting it back in the freezer! Will have to be really good today as I have my first weigh-in tomorrow, it would be embarrassing to not lose anything!

JODIE - I usually buy a lot in July in the sales - saves you money in the long run - so expensive at Xmas! Also buying bday pressies for Amber - she is 2 on the 4th Oct.
So enjoyed my belldancing class - was great to be back shimmying! If only I could shake the fat off wink

How are the rest of you getting on? Not a lot of checking in the past couple of days.

Weigh-in today, have lost 3.5lb this week . Had a night off tonight - fish and chips then several bourbon biscuits! I have walked to school and back twice, and also to Slimming World and back, must be at least 4 miles in total (and I was pushing a double buggy up a very steep hill each time), so I think I deserve a treat grin

Am envy of your tap-dancing classes WW, would love to do a dance class myself but can't see it happening any time soon, as Bryony still needs feeding till about 8.30 each night, and I don't have any motivation to go out at that time of night!

Snoopdog, have a good holiday.

Jodie, that's 3.5lbs I've lost, not ozs! Wouldn't be worth celebrating otherwise! grin

I have been good today, avoided eating any cake at a friend's house this morning, though I felt very guilty as she'd made a carrot loaf and it looked lovely - she was the one who recommended Slimming World to me though so she did understand.

Today I've had:

Breakfast: porridge and banana, small glass orange juice

Snack: apple

Lunch: 1 slice of cheese, pasta salad made with tomatoes, cucumber, celery, sweetcorn and peas, bit of low fat dressing, natural yogurt with sweetener

Snack: grapes, 2 rice cakes with salsa dip, 1 orange

Dinner: pasta with tomato and ham sauce natural yogurt with sugar, chocolate crispy bar.

Dh is suggesting a drink to celebrate the weekend so it could still all go horribly wrong!

What is everyone else eating?

Hi All,

Been pretty bad this weekend - got my AF back again despite it just finishing last Saturday!! So am bloated and wanting sugary things sad Had to have an Empire biscuit today blush sent my Dh out on an emergency Empire biscuit run! Am now having a glass of white and have scoffed about 12 of DDs choccy raisins (yum) about to have steak for tea. On the plus side though I have been out in the garden digging, weeding, transplanting and generally sweating and have increased my muscle mass this week. Muscle weighs mpore but burns more calories.

Am also starting tap dancing classes tomorrow night so that should help too.

Just enjoy your hols SNOOP but try top swim/walk etc to burn off the extra cals.

Positive slimming vibes to everyone smile

Hi FOGHORNLEGHORN smile I checked out your August thread to see who form the July thread had had their bubbas - congrats! Can you tell us what happened to PAULAPLUMPBOTTOM though?

Hi Guys,

foghornleghorn I remember you from the early days of the July Thread. Hope you are well. Congrats on your baby!

Snoopdog where have you gone? LOL at you checkoing out MN while you are away, it's the sort of thing I do and my DH takes the piss out of my 'habit' Thinks I should join MN anonomous grin

WW On Weightwatchers gardening gains you as many extra points as doing aerobic exercise grin And I know what you mean about sugar cravings when you are on, it's akin to being pregnant isn't it! wink

I've been good all weekend, been fairly active, today we took the boys to Cannock Chase (a beautiful expanse of forest near us) so another 60 mins walking, and then playing footie with DS1 while having a picnic, then DH took DS1 off on the bike for 1 hour and DS2 was asleep so I read my book in the sunshine, was bliss.. Going to try doing it again next week. Just off to work out points.... (did eat 2 mini sausage rolls and a mini muffin blush)

Oh, I am really fed up with myself - have had a very bad day at mil's house, have eaten roast dinner, ice cream, Belgian chocolates, sandwiches with loads of butter, 2 slices of coffee and walnut cake blush and then when we got home and dh went out for some milk, he bought me a Dairy Milk, which I have just eaten, rather than giving it back to him. Now I feel that even if I am good the rest of the week, I won't actually lose anything, just avoid gaining. And it's only my second week. I just find it impossible to refuse food when someone else makes it for me. If only willpower could be bought!

Just start again tomorrow and do some extra walking or something!

Hi NSSA, welcome aboard!

I;ve had such a bad day today, I've tried so hard to be good, and had good breakfast, lunch and tea, and even been to Aqua, but my appitite has been huge and I've snacked and picked and grazed all day sad Maybe it's the return of my monthlies????
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By ponto on Tue 23-Sep-08 09:59:42
Hi Notsoserious, a stone by Christmas sounds very reasonable, go for it!

Jodie, sorry you had a bad day, but glad to see I'm not the only one who gets the evening munchies, I really think that is the worst time sad. I am making a big effort to snack on fruit and rice cakes though, so I keep telling myself that it must be better than snacking on toast with butter and marmalade, which is what I was doing until 2 weeks ago - no wonder I was getting gradually fatter!

Once again my good start yesterday was scuppered by being given food - my neighbour came round with a big bowl of Iraqi sweets, which were tiny pastries stuffed with chocolate, figs and coconut. By the time I'd sampled some of each type, I thought I may as well finish up the 2 chocolates left from the box my mil gave me on Sunday! Now the rest of the pastries are in a box in the cupboard, calling to me, and I know the only way to avoid eating them is to throw them away, but I can't bring myself to do it as my neighbour must have spent ages making them. If only dh would eat stuff like that up, but he won't, which is presumably how he weighs 3.5 stone less than me! blush

Right, lost 1/2 lb ths week. Although headingin the right direction, it's heaps off the 2lb a week goal I had set in order to lose 2 stone by Christmas sad.

Oh well, this weeks it all starts again. Am going on holiday in 2 weeks time so am resigned to the fact I'll just have to look like a heffer in shorts sad
