Thanks for replies.

Baby is 8 weeks old and I have a massive wedding to attend the end of July, so ideally would love to lose a stone.

teaandthorazine, yes I wondered if I needed any dairy or sugar to keep up the quality of milk. Very reassuring to know this is not the case!

Excited to start Bootcamp now!

Do you mean do you need sugar and dairy while breast feeding? If so, the answer's definitely no; neither are necessary. Cutting sugar and dairy from your diet won't affect the quality or quantity of your milk.

However, you may choose to eat dairy from some sources (sugar is out from any source, obviously!) Butter, full fat yoghurt, double cream are the best sources. Try to avoid large quantities of milk as it is very high in sugar.

How old is your baby? I did low carb when I was bfing an 18 month old and its the only thing that worked for me, my body seems to hold into every pound when I bf. I lost about 4 stone in 7 months. This time I have a just turned 12 month old and only have a few pounds to lose but I can't low carb as ds has dairy intolerance and ive had to cut it all out. I don't ink I could do it without cheese and butter and cream, that kind of thing. You can't have sugar. Lots of good protein so chicken, eggs, and lots of green leafy veg are the basis of the diet. I could do it, but without the dairy I think it'd be too much like deprivation.

I low carbed for about 2+ months after DS2 was born. I started when he was about 3 months old and I EBF'd until he was 1 year old. I followed the low carb rules pretty strictly, especially for the first month. Minimized my sugar intake as much as I could--read food labels religiously. I don't get on with dairy very well so my only dairy intake was in my morning coffees. Ended up losing roughly 25-30 lbs. It's the only diet that has ever worked for me. Good luck!

Seems like it can be a sensible diet whilst BFing so I have signed up to do Bootcamp starting Monday. Has anyone done both?

I'm planning on still taking my Pregnacare for breastfeeding, but mainly what I want to know is do I need any sugar intake? Dairy? If so, what are the best sources for these?

Thanks!
