Will this work? Advice and support please!

I eat a lot of meat, fish, eggs, nuts, seeds, veg (loads of veg!) and a small amount of fruit. Also, cream, cheese and full fat yoghurt.

I don't eat potatoes, pasta, bread, cakes, crisps, biscuits etc. I do sometimes eat a small amount of rice (maybe once a month). No other grains No sugar. No fizzy drinks. Lots of good fats (coconut, avocado, olive, nuts). I eat dark chocolate and drink red wine though!

It's not no carb - you do get carbohydrate from veg etc, but the basic aim is to cut out processed carbs and sugar. Your body doesn't need them.

So, today for example I had the coffee and cream, scrambled eggs with a little bit of butter and cheese, because I was very not-hungry. This evenings meal is mushroom and spinach curry served with steamed cabbage, but it could just as easily be a steak!

If you're really into your exercise, you might find you want a bit more in the way of carbs, but everyone's different. There is LOADS of info on low carb on MN; you could join the Bootcamp threads. Or you might find that something like The Primal Blueprint suits you better - it's got a really interesting take on exercise, google it and see what you think!

Ah okay. I definitely need to look into getting rid of carbs then!

Would you mind giving me an example of what you eat?

And no, you don't get hungry of you don't eat carbs - quite the opposite in fact. I've had a cup of coffee with cream and two eggs scrambled so far today. Ok, I've not done a 40-min treadmill workout either (!!) but I'm not hungry because my blood sugar levels are stable.

If you reduce your levels of starchy/sugary/processed carbs, hunger pretty much disappears.

Well, this is only my opinion but it sounds like hell, and pretty unsustainable, tbh!

My understanding is that weightloss is about 80% down to diet, and only 20% to exercise. Your diet is very high in processed carbohydrates (cereal, toast, crisps, pasta) which can cause you to retain weight, plus they increase your appetite anyway! You may want to consider reducing the carb levels in your diet.

Personally I can't think of anything worse than counting calories and slogging my guts out on a treadmill (but I am a famously lazy arse!)

Hmm, okay.

Do you get very hungry if you don't eat carbs?!

At the moment I eat cereal for breakfast, and then have a slice of toast or soup or something around mid-day. I tend to have hula-hoops or something at about 3pm, then a meal with DP that's usually spag bol or chicken and potatoes, that kind of thing.

I'm certainly willing to give it a go, if it's affordable and I won't starve to death!

Today's workout took about 40 minutes, which isn't so bad.

I'd drop the carbs as well tbh... Exercise alone isn't enough

If I can burn 600 calories on the treadmill every day (or every other day), will see a a difference quite quickly?

I'm eating around 1500 calories per day, and I'm a size 10 at the moment with a bit of a stomach. I'm usually a size six/eight, but the last year or so was hard health wise.

I need to see a noticeable difference by June, ideally. I'm doing bicycle crunches and physio, too.

Is this really unlikely to make a difference? I'm utterly lost with this type of thing, so any opinions would be much appreciated.
