Hey new thread since our old stopping smoking and not gaining-too--much weight has been lost from chat! BOO!!!

I am not a good role model however as I HAVE piled on a stone, well 12 lbs now, since giving up the cigs.
This must be rectified!
Hence joining in the club section!

Donnadoon hope you find this thread.

Everyone else pile in, join and be happy or miserable bastard ex smokers

Donnadoon Fri 12-Apr-13 20:02:59

Ha ha ha loving the rhino pic ...you are sooooo bloody funny Fran!!
I'm sure you ain't that big !! You don't arf make mr Larf though !!
Betty I was a stop starter smoker used to quit for ages and then start again thinking that "one won't hurt"
Anyhoo hoping this time is the real McCoy but for me it is mentally rather than physically giving up. I don't need one or fancy one at the moment but tomorrow is another day and I've just taken each day as its came and thought at worst " oh well if I'm still desperate tomorrow then ill buy some..no biggie" but obviously the craving passes and I'm 3 months down the line without putting myself under loads of pressure by saying to myself " you can't ever have one again"
But seriously I do think I'm finished this time because life really is better and cleaner etc without the evil weed !!

Donnadoon Fri 12-Apr-13 22:04:24

*Mr Larf ? Meant to say me Larf doh again

bettycocker Sat 13-Apr-13 07:13:53

welove, it is totally worth stopping. I feel so much healthier. I used to start coughing up phlegm as soon as I lay down. Gross, tmi. blush

Donna, I've managed to stop a couple of times. Both times I relapsed at about a year in. It was alchohol related on both occasions. I got pissed and thought I just one couldn't hurt. I quit with Champix, but I didn't get on with it and I stopped it 4 weeks. I'm still on the nicotine gum. I'll tackle that when I'm ready. It's better than smoking though. My health was really suffering, what with so many chest infections, colds and other illnesses.

FrantasticO Sat 13-Apr-13 09:27:22

Hiya, how's everyone.

I'm the same Betty have stopped before for a couple of months then started back on them. This time needs to be different as I was getting to the stage that I would lie at night worrying about getting lung cancer and who would do the mum things for my kids. Grim.

On a lighter note I am currently "enjoying" the company of my eldest daughters friends following last nights nonsleepover! They are like soooo sophisticated they coooouldnt be letting the four or two year old join in.( the two yr old I can understand!)

Welove hope your mr made you a lovely three courser to make it up to you!

Donna how are you mrs? Are the kids back on form? Hope so and that you have a good weekend planned.
You still jumping off wardrobes into those size 10s...I've hung mine up...there's always Maygrin

Donnadoon Sat 13-Apr-13 10:37:43

grin May !! Not ventured into the jeans since the scratches incident
I'll be glad to get back to normal next week...don't get me wrong I loves the kids being off school but my god they are lazy little tikes!!
They don't want to get dressed some days so there has been a lot of slobbing around this last fortnight
Watch this space...Come Tuesday ill be power walking up our hill with Hound and surviving on muesli and scotch eggs
then ill get all run down again and the septic throat will be back
So no must be healthy...dds fine now thankyou Fran and the sun is shining!

bettycocker Sat 13-Apr-13 10:58:41

I've managed to lose a whole pound this week! The only way I can lose lose weight now, is by doing Jillian Michaels workouts every day and not allowing any chocolate, crisps or icecream over the threshold.

Smoking definitely revs up your metabolism. I used to weight 6 pounds less and binge on crap 2 or three times a week.

FrantasticO Sat 13-Apr-13 18:50:49

Maybe it's an age thing...I know we are all young happening things on this thread...but just not as young as we were 10 years ago?grin

I've been running around a park all afternoon surely I deserve a small scone???

Maybe not, off to investigate the harcomb diet...friends recommended it when I moaned of piemanship!

Betty I yearn for days gone by of junk fests, I might get back on the shred this week.

Donna I hope your pooch is ready for the hill you wil be pounding together.
Our muttley has lost a bit with the walking...sadly only him not me!

Wish we could just have a pill and bypass the whole food shebang, it's a quandary!

FrantasticO Sat 13-Apr-13 21:37:10

Donnadoon meant to ask how did the passport photo expedition go?
Sounds like fun!

Donnadoon Sun 14-Apr-13 08:22:08

I got the middle two done, going back to do the youngest next week as she had scratched own face and it would have shown up on photo.
In bed watchingsuffering Grand Prix ATM joy

FrantasticO Sun 14-Apr-13 11:27:19

Donna we did our kids own passport photo.
White sheet, digital camera and passport photo app on computer.
Was easy and less hassle than getting a baby to sit.
You could try it?

I'm a misery guts today, raining and blah.

Fgs where is the summer?

Donnadoon Sun 14-Apr-13 16:23:59

Sorry Fran its gorgeous here today...all the more incentive for me to get back into gear..yay

weloveourfamily Sun 14-Apr-13 17:19:53

Only one and a half days left. Nervous about it all. aghhhh

Donnadoon Sun 14-Apr-13 20:51:11

I would advise but others may disagree ...to smoke loads and make yourself fed up of them IYSWIM
Really concentrate on each one and ask yourself "is this so great? " " Will I really miss this shit?" Excuse my French
But you get my gist?
And then be excited about giving up and being free of them
It really is a beTter life without them...Good luck!

weloveourfamily Sun 14-Apr-13 22:03:25

They make me feel sick now anyway but its just habit really. Think because am sick it will help at first smile

FrantasticO Mon 15-Apr-13 12:23:47

Hiya.
Agree with donna life without cigs is better, less smelly and less expensive!
Smoke away today and get going tomorrow...if we can do it so can you!
Good luck with your last day of smoking, you'll do fine.

Donna how's the hound and the hill...hope that poor dog still has legs on!

I started back with the shred yesterday and will do it the days I'm not at classes...however it's clear I need to eat less to shift the muffin top. Feel like I'm not eating that much just nowsad

It does get easier than today will have been.

Take it easy.

Hey donnadoon hope you've been practicing your cheerleader routine...I know I so wouldn't be the one on the top of the cheering triangle this month unless you really wanted the other cheerers flattened

Donnadoon Wed 17-Apr-13 06:48:53

Ha ha Fran ! You ain't that big, I know ! You are funny though, again !
All good here...pounded t'hill with mutt yesterday..will do again today.
Went to bed hungry last night and didn't cave in for a big slice of lemon cake..I find being strict and not eating after 6pm really does help.
Your weather improved yet? It's going to drizzle a bit today apparently but remain warm.
Chat later.

FrantasticO Wed 17-Apr-13 07:41:01
