Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and that Santa brought you everything that you deserved!
By now, I'm guessing that many of us will be rather tired of chocolates and stodgy food. Mince pie anyone?
So. The next low carb Bootcamp will be starting on 7 January. It will run for 10 weeks, which will take us to mid-March. The idea of Bootcamp is that we have an initial strict fortnight, which will see a significant amount of weight loss, followed by a more relaxed 8 weeks.
Overall, if you follow the rules, you can expect to lose anything up to 20lbs in this time period.
So who is in?
If you want to join us, add your name to the list and tell us what your aims/objectives are.
I will start ...

ChristmasJ added you.
In the first two weeks of Bootcamp the jelly would be a no really.
Can I please join? 5 stones to lose in total and a massive cake/potato/bread addiction to beat. I am now 4 weeks post having my beautiful DS2 and am still wearing my maternity clothes (embarassed smiley here). Need to lose at least 2 stone to get into my pre pregnancy trousers.

Anaisa
Welcome Anaisa
Can anyone recommend a decent whey protein shake thats low carbs and no sweeteners? I think Id like to start the day with a shake made up with coconut oil, water & a little cream, as I struggle with breakfast.
This is a great site for newbies, to help get their heads round this WOE, I have found it very helpful!
here
So Stilton ok?
Thanks re the sweet tooth problem, I thought as much.
Can we snack?
I've had eggs for breakfast
Bacon for lunch
For dinner it's gammon with creamed Brussels and cauliflower and broccoli.
Thank you.
Thanks for adding me! Can I have roasted veg for my tea? It is allowed?
Doing ham and turkey pie for everyone else and don't want to ruin my first day.
Was planning on roasting tomatoes, butternut squash, Auvergne and peppers or have I just blown it...
Getting very enthused! I have masses to lose but am hung up on the butter issue. Butter. Really? Don't get me wrong, I love butter but it's like I have a mental block with diet=butter.
Can anyone advise on carbs per day please? Is 40/50g okay or too much?
I also just joined MFP as LucyVFood, can I add people please?
Add me!
I'm stylelostinlabout (t) not r at the end as dis a typo!
Prolific - Stilton fine! Love the stuff me.
Re snacking to trick is to eat if you are hungry, low carb snacks include a boiled egg, celery with cream cheese, or ham, or pâté or coleslaw, baby bel. (or a teaspoon of peanut butter ot two, sainsbos basic is 3 something carbs). You will find that you want to snack less as you go on though and can for much longer between meals.
Other tips - look for foods that are around 3g per 100g like sausages and pâté, coleslaws and soups etc. I find that the basics range in tesco and sainsburys are actually lower carb.
Some supermarkets do smoked salmon "bits" which are cheaper than regular smoked salmon and easier to add to omelettes etc.
Lidl is your friend. Buckets of 10% Greek yoghurt which is delicious - bacon, cold meats, pâté, my local one does celeriac much more often than my local tescos for eg.
You don't have to cook different meals to your family - have spag Bol with broccolli instead of pasta, same with chilli, have pork chops with veg just no pots, curry with asparagus or spinach or green beans etc. my family don't even notice they are eating low carb!!
Style - roast veg perfect.
Just check the carb count on the veg you are using on biwi's veg list
Lucy - butter = yes yes yes! Fry everything in butter, add it to veg, it is a great way to add fat to your diets, and yes you need fat in your diet - you won't be forcing your body to use carbs as fuel, which will in turn force it use fat stores as fuel, so that's attract thing!!
Atkins says about 20g a day, Charles Clark says 40-60g a day - I have never ever counted how many carbs I am eating as the beauty of this woe for me is that you don't have to count, measure or monitor your amounts as long as you are sticking to low carb options.
Just remember in Mfp that the carb counts can sometimes be a bit erratic, IMO it seems to be more of a calorie counting tool than a carb one, and WE DON'T COUNT CALORIES!!
style I am a newbie to this WOE but I think the typeof vegetables you are planning on roasting don't fit in the boot camp allowed list... Biwi posted it earlier on in the thread
Tomatoes and peppers are a bit carby. Think asparagus ok, butternut squash has divided the camp before....
Oh and MFP users are welcome to add me, same username, I am using it to stay on low carb track and to monitor carbs! Averaging around 50 a day so far
I will back up what Dosh says; Butter = yes: cook in butter and add to your vegetables.
Roast veg are fine but stick mainly to the vegetables that are 3.0g per 100g or under (see tab at bottom of Spreadsheet)
Will have to keep on eye on the roast veg I use as I find it easier to veg this way and just chuck some meat with it each night
Style - roasting the vegetables is absolutely fine.
Check the tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet (fourth tab along) for the carbs per vegetable count.
I am tempted by joining in with this. I have got 6 stone to lose but I really want to lose about 20lb before I go on holiday at the end of March. I absolutely love rice and pasta though, pretty scared at the thought of not eating them.
But I am breastfeeding 6mo DD. She does eat quite a bit of food now but she is awake a lot overnight and I still feed her a lot. Is this safe to do while I am BF?
<waves at Sybil>
I tiried to join this earlier, but on phone couldnt work out the cut n paste thing.
I have 4-5 stone to lose I think - have been sick over christmas and new year, but cant wait to start.

<waves to my new friends on MFP!>
Thanks for adding me!
I'm thinking of cooking my own ham instead of buying processed stuff. Never done it though, what shall I use? Any good recipes around?
