I have a pretty big move coming up in just under 9 months. want to be at my ideal weight by then. This will involve losing a minimum of 5 stones (70lbs). I have come to the conclusion that doing a crazy all or nothing weightloss plan isn't going to work for me. what ordinarily happens is that I lose loads to begin with, then it all goes to pot and I put it all back on again.
So... would anyone like to join me. My first target is 10lbs by the end of november. I will just be eating lower carb, less snacking, more exercise where possible (7 mo dd and dh who works shifts, so a bit of a challenge sometimes!).

I'm in.

I has lost about 85lbs (but needed to lose more) but put a significant amount back on during pregnancy and post birth. Baby is 4months old now and I need to get started on shifting it again. None of my clothes fit and I need to be back in my work wardrobe by the time I go back next year.

Ideally, I'd be back in the gym 5 times a week but that's just not possible with a small baby and DP working long hours so I'll be walking more when weather permits and cutting down on the snacking that I was doing loads of when breastfeeding. Back to counting calories too as that has always been quite effective for me.

I'll weigh myself in the morning and assess the damage <scared>

theowlworrier Wed 24-Oct-12 16:58:49

I weighed myself this morning, so how about thursday weigh ins- if you don't want to post your actual weight, just post your change over the week!

BTW- congrats on the baby smile

HowlingOScara Wed 24-Oct-12 19:11:33

Ok, so I may have fallen at the first hurdle as I have just taken a banana cake out of the oven. D'oh! I will make DP take it to work and force feed it to his colleagues just to get it out of the house.

Thursday weigh in sounds good. I shan't be posting my weight <denial> but will post the loss each week (hopefully!).

We can do this! smile

I'll join - although I am just about to eat a Chinese takeaway blush

I've lost 3.5 lbs so far...haven't been dieting for long, I'm counting calories but only exercise is pushing the pram at the mo.

I'm maid of honour in Feb at my sister's wedding so really need to get the weight off.

HowlingOScara Wed 24-Oct-12 19:39:57

Oh good, another recruit smile

Very jealous of your Chinese, over envy Certainly beats my (not terribly diet friendly) tomatoey, chorizo, haloumi concoction. Enjoy!

Can I join please? I always seem to notice these threads three weeks in or so, and feel I can't join then ( any excuse I know )

2lbs a week sounds good , but not sure if I should calorie count or do some low carby type diet. Lost loads a few years ago doing Atkins, , but piled on and then some when began eating properly again sad

Have got my fitness pal app though so suppose counting is best

Good luck everyone smile

Can I join? I have three hen weekends and three weddings next year.

I am.wobbly and lumpy.

Im 5'2, in 14 sized clothes, and shit scared to weigh myself. will weigh first thing in the morning, promise.

I've been doing Slimming World for 4 weeks, aiming at 2lb a week for 18 weeks, to shift 2.5 stone. Weigh in is Thursday, last week I'd lost 8lb. Can I join you? I am 5'8" and just getting back into a 14.

MotherWithoutACare Wed 24-Oct-12 20:00:30

Another one here, also need to lose about 70lbs. Going for an eat less move more approach so not sure how much I'll lose in a week. May end up going on how my clothes look/feel rather than weight but will still join in Thursday weigh ins.

OohMrDarcy Wed 24-Oct-12 20:02:57

oh oh!!! Can I join please?!?!

Seriously need to get losing, next year is my 5 year wedding anniversary and I would love to do a secret 'rock the frock' type photo shoot to surprise DH with (cheesy I know) I am also doing a 26 mile walk next summer in aid of a charity close to my heart so being a few stone lighter would make a huge difference

I'm up for a thursday weigh in - am weighing in just lb because then I don't have to think about how many stones I am [embarrased] currently 226lb

<hands remainder of mid week cake baking session around thread sabotage grin>
can I join please?! Need to lose about 75 lbs. Weighing in lbs sounds like a good idea to me. Currently 231lb. Good luck to everyone.

My phone clearly thinks I need to join this thread, posting twice!

theowlworrier Wed 24-Oct-12 22:41:30

Oh yay smile loads of people since i got home. Well, hows about thursday weigh ins (if we get more recruits, we can perhaps stagger the weigh ins).
Am going to have a baked spud and cottage cheese for tea. Realise that is no way low carb, but its in the house and i need to use it up.
Got a gym pass on friday and sunday (working around DHs shifts!)
So as you have all posted your motivators, mine is that we move back to the UK in june after three years away, and i dont want to look like a real porker when i get back. Also dds 1st birtjday in March so if i can lose a chunk by then i will be well chuffed. My biggest challenge is the office. There are always biscuits and cake around. Need to just say no...!

Hi could I join you please? Am arguing with myself over whether to even bother as I have 5st to lose and no idea how I'm going to do it. The weight has just been creeping on over the last 8 yrs since getting married and I certainly haven't managed to get any control over myself since having ds last year. I just don't know where to start as I feel so down about it - every morning I start with the best intentions but end up sabotaging myself every single day and I'm sick of it. The same cycle every day - not even every week - depressed at bedtime, full of good intentions in the morning and then I find myself eating some tasty crap by evening time. Often by lunchtime.

In the last year I've joined Slimming World twice plus another local group but have just failed miserably to stick to it and then dropped out each time. I don't know how to get a grip on myself. I don't know what is going to make the difference but I can't bear the thought of going on as I am. sad

Will give this a go, hoping that hearing everyone else's tales and hopefully successes will have some influence on me.

HowlingOScara Wed 24-Oct-12 23:03:56

Yay, more folks! smile

I have a bigger motivator that I've been putting off confirming a date for...I'm supposed to get married next year! If we can ever decide on where to do it. I'd like to go somewhere hot so would need to look good in a suitably light/skimpy dress.

Suggestions for possible wedding destinations great fully received smile

Succumbed to a very small piece of banana cake...well, I couldn't inflict it on DP's workmates without first checking that it was edible, could I? blush

Porridge for breakfast tomorrow and planning a good long walk with DD in the pram. Then I need to sit down and plan a shopping list of healthy meals and snacks for the next week.

HowlingOScara Wed 24-Oct-12 23:11:05

Aye, I've been thinking of joining slimming world as there's a class just around the corner. Can I ask why you didn't stick at it? I've always been dubious about slimming classes but I feel like I need to do something different to get me kick started and the threat of a public weekly weigh in might be enough to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Checking in. Currently 155lb.

First event is first week of March, so 19 weeks away. At 2lbs a week, therefore, my first targets is to lose 38lbs in 19 weeks and weigh 117lbs by 1st March.

A few weeks ago I bought the 30day shred dvd but its still in the wrapper blush

Ooops! Currently 166!! Did my adding wrong.

So need to be 128lbs by 1st March.

HowlingOScara Thu 25-Oct-12 09:56:26

I hate my scales.

I need to lose 44lbs just to get back to the weight I was pre-pregnancy. Arse. How did I let myself put back on more than half of what I'd busted my ass to lose before I got pg?

Oh well, no point moaniing about it now. Just need to do something about it!

Onlyaphase Thu 25-Oct-12 10:59:13

Came on here to post my tale of woe then found that spookily AyewhySwim had already done it for me. Identical stories, other than I've been married for nearly 11 years, and had DD 6 years ago.

I weigh 215 lbs (sounds much better than in stones!) and really can't go on like this - none of my clothes really fit me, I've lots of size 18 tunics hanging in the wardrobe that I can't wear any more, my health is suffering, I can't sit on some stools and chairs, I can't go on rides at the fairground with DD, I struggle to run around with her, I can't go on the trampoline with her, it is just a big list of things that I can't do at the moment. Plus a friend and contemporary of mine died suddenly last week and this has made me look at my health. Not to be too grim about it but I'd like to be around to see and play with my grandchildren, and this won't happen at this rate.

Plan is porridge in the morning, hot portion controlled lunch and supper, no snacks, no sugar and no seconds. Nothing to be kept in the house that isn't something I should be eating. Plus, keep busier so I don't hang around the kitchen snuffling round the cupboards and opening the fridge

SparePants Thu 25-Oct-12 11:09:46

Hello grin. I'm in, if you'll have me. Just weighed myself at 199.5 lbs, and would like to lose around 60 of those. 2 sounds good to start with though. I have a whole barrel of things to motivate me (health, a possible wedding, my DS, etc) but nothing is quite as motivating as a block of chocolate sad. I have been doing WW for the last few months, but only in the sense that I pay the money.

Onlyaphase Thu 25-Oct-12 11:14:13

sparepants your last sentence did make me laugh!
