I'm doing a similar low calorie diet, but tracking on My Fitness Pal.

Yesterday:
Breakfast - granary toast = scrape of peanut butter
Lunch - Granary toast = poached egg
Supper - Small jacket potato, tablespoon of tuna mayo and salad

Today:
Breakfast - Fruit and vegetable juice
Lunch - Cup a Soup and salad with a tablespoon of tuna mayo
Supper - don't know

I'm trying to stick to less than 1200 cals a day.

It is good. Once you've used it for a while it knows all your favourite or most commonly eaten foods. It has loads and loads of supermarket and branded products on there too.

You can find friends on there and watch each others progress.

I'm allybongo1980 grin

Are you exercising?

I keep threatening to start counch to 5k as it's only 30mins three times a week. Trouble is I work full time <excuse> and I have DS1 (12) <excuse> and DS2 (2) <excuse>

Easily doable. Cut out virtually all carbs (including the porridge, rice and pasta in yesterday's meal...you will need to up the cheese and eggs to compensate) and do at least 3 hours of aerobic exercise per week. Do some weights too to maintain muscle mass (and eat lots of eggs!!)

Quite nice to have a smallish thread. I've joined some in the past and they et too huge and move to fast so I tend to fall by the wayside and give up

I struggle with low carb too - I get meated and egged out really quickly. I've started incorporating vegetable juices into my diet recently. I did the Jason Vale 7lb in 7 days juice fast after Christmas and lost 8lbs. Thats low GI carbs, lots of green veg etc.

It's too boring a too cold for me to do again though. I recently just been maintaining yoyoing my weight

Can I join? Can't start today due to apple pie and icecream unforseen circumstances at lunch time, but will start tomorrow.

I will need a humoungous kick up the arse to stick with it though. I just cannot motivate myself to stick to any kind of healthy eating plan atm and am getting more and more pissed off with myself with every day that passes!

I'm with you on the low carb thing shiny...I have pcos so should low carb but I find it impossible to stick to (especially on a budget!)

Hi pants!

I struggle too and need motivation. I'm crap at staying away from the wine too, so have banned it now to just on a Friday night.

I'm pissed off with myself lately. I'm a stone heavier than I was this time last year, all my clothes are too tight and my face looks all bloated sad

controlpantsandgladrags Tue 07-Feb-12 14:45:37

Oh I hear you about the wine...I've gotten into the habit of having a bottle on a friday and another one on a saturday blush Not to mention the snacks that go with it!

I'm half a stone heavier than I was before Christmas just because I can't break my bad habits! Need to lose about 1.5 stone just to get my BMI back under 35 sad

shineon - cheese, yoghurt, creme fraiche, nuts, chickpeas, olives, any pulses - tinned flageolets are particularly yum in a big salad with feta and olives and a good olive oil dressing. Lentils and black beans are great too - and cheap!

Pulses have half as much carbs by weight as pasta or rice and much, much more protein. The carbs they do have in them are also extremely slow release (low glycemic index) so don't go through the carb->glucose->glycogen->bodyfat cycle nearly as quickly.

I eat low/slow carb anyway as pasta/bread/potatoes turn me into a bloated zombie, but everyone I know who has successfully lost fat and put on muscle mass (got "toned") has done it with a combination of a low/slow carb diet + exercise.

I dropped off it as didnt work out. But am also 5ft 4, size 12 and as have fucked my leg and am banned from all form of exercise for the forseeable future (even fricking pilates) will join in as anything I manage to lose is bound to be a good thing... have pretty much given up booze, kept hold of chocolate and am using MFP app on iphone to figure out how much I can eat and still hopefully lose weight..

Well, at least you know you can do it grin

Am also avoiding carbs as much as possible - eating a small amount of carbs(bread/potato/parsnips) but otherwise going for veggie meals 3 days a week (roasted beetroot in mustard vinaigrette with a scattering of walnuts and spring onions is surprisingly nice)and plenty of water/green tea

Roasted beetroot is yum. Buy the fresh stuff, chop it up. I chuck it in a roasting tray with peppers, red onion, celery. Chuck some cherry toms in just before it's ready. Serve up with Feta cheese sprinkled on the top.

Nom nom nom

malinois Tue 07-Feb-12 16:32:30

Oooh, that reminds me: massive tray of roasted peppers (all colours), red onions, garlic, cherry toms, fennel, beetroot, loads of olive oil. Have hot with quinoa or cold as a salad with big lumps of parmesan. More of a summer thing but very good.

I have joined threads like these in the past, it usually goes very well for about 2 days and then - oh dear. However I also have the exact same goal in mind, I am going on a beach holiday on 17 March and I really don't want to go to the beach looking like I do now...

So, I would like to join please. I'm good on exercise, very bad on controlling my eating, so maybe posting my food here will be a good incentive. I'm in the US so it's not even lunchtime yet - will come back later with an update.

dinkystinky Tue 07-Feb-12 17:07:36

Fresh stuff, wash (wearing disposable gloves to avoid purple fingers), chop up, wrap in foil, chuck in oven to roast, take out, unwrap, cover in mustard, white wine vinegar and olive oil with salad onion vinagrette (and if you want a tiny crumble of some form of cheese) and add a handful of walnuts - lovely and filling...
