23 weeks til Xmas - who'll join me in a LBD challenge?

I bought some wonderful red shoes a couple of weeks ago and they'd look fab with a LBD. The trouble is I wouldn't look so good in one! I really want to wear them at Christmas so would love to look good in a LBD by then. I'm thinking that a couple of stones would be a good place to begin.

So, my plan is...
I've already given up alcohol (a short term thing as I love it) on the basis that cutting down makes me miserable - I find it easier to have none than some and then stop!
In September, my youngest starts nursery so will be joining a gym.
I WILL do my pilates dvd & use my gym ball more.
I WILL start running again.

Any other chubby ones who fancy joining me? The more the merrier grin

Altogether now... jingle bells, jingle bells

AlCrowley Sat 17-Jul-10 22:33:42

DD will be 1 at Christmas and I really want to be back to normal by then. Have been doing really well on WW even though still BFing but am beginning to slip. Was running 3 times a week but that's slipping too.

Definitely need a motivational kick now and again. Count me in grin

Excellent - tho could just be you and me at the mo!

DottyDot Sun 18-Jul-10 08:20:35

Hi there - I really need to start losing weight so can I join??!

I need to lose about 4 stone, but would feel and look tons better losing 2, so maybe that should be my goal <tries to be realistic...>

I find that when I cut out the crap and drink tons of water I do lose weight - I just don't keep doing it and then put on the half a stone I've just shifted sad Not sure how to keep going with it as my willpower is bobbins...

So, am officially starting again for Christmas weigh in (good to have a target!) grin

StewieGriffinsMom Sun 18-Jul-10 08:25:03

I'm joining this too despite being on the WW thread just in case!

zippy539 Sun 18-Jul-10 08:29:25

Count me in. Need to shift about two stone. Meant to do it in time for summer but hey ho.

1) Going to start running again - three times a week.

2) No alcohol on a 'school' night (okay its the hols but you know what I mean!)

3) Start counting points again - ww worked for me before so hopefully will again.

AlCrowley Sun 18-Jul-10 20:55:02

I'm on the WW thread too SGM. Figured it couldn't hurt to have 2 lots of people to kick me up the bum if I'm slipping

Holiday is in 10 days - I've lost almost a stone but am not going to make my target of being 60kgs (am 63.9kgs - and 5'1" sad started at 70.6kgs 10 weeks ago though so still an achievement even if I am still chubby) Thinking I might try running every day for the remaining 10 days though to try and shift as much of the remainder as possible. Plus the toning DVD to try and flatten my tum as much as I can. Why is it that the tummy is the last to go?

So - every day until we go...
1) Be very good at WW
2) Run 5k Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday as usual - add 2.5k at least on the other days.
3) Do toning DVD every day.
4) Drink plenty of water - I'm very bad at this

Ok ladies, lovely to have you with me! I reckon a Friday is a good day to WI so that we can enjoy our w/e without feeling too worried about a Monday WI wink !

But, how about a one off Monday WI just to get us going? Being super good - sitting here eating Special K with skimmed milk & chopped strawbs. Yum.

Well done Al, that's a fab start - you can keep the momentum going. BTW, kg is fine too!

I'll join in! I'd like to lose 3 stone ish by Christmas, that would just about get me to target. That would mean a 2lb loss each and every week though which is perhaps a bit of an extreme target. Can but try though! Started SW 4 weeks ago, and am half a pound off a stone weight loss so far.

Not doing any exercise at the moment, but will hopefully be a bit more active with the kids over the summer holidays.

Can I join? I am trying hard to lose baby weight at the moment and it is moving SLOWLY! I have managed to lose 5kgs in the 4 months since my baby was born and want to lose another 6 and a bit. I need to tone up too.

So far I have been trying to eat like a normal person, drink lots of water and move a bit more. I am exclusively breastfeeding so that helps.

Christmas sounds like a good target, although if I am honest I'd like to lose the weight before then and then by Christmas have kept it off for a while. We are planning a trip to see family after Christmas and as I haven't seen hardly any of them for a few years, I'd like to look beach-ready!

I am 5 foot 4 (and a bit) and this morning weighed in at 66.8kgs (sorry my brain doesn't operate in stones)

enjoysthesunshine Mon 19-Jul-10 14:47:41

ooh, I'm staggered I just joined a thread! I've been lurking in the hopes that I would just wake up one morning and be miraculously slimmer, with no effort by me except reading!

Anyhow, it feels good to be started. Go everyone! grin

buttonmoon78 Mon 19-Jul-10 15:54:15

That's cool, kgs are fine and lovely to have you on board. I agree, Christmas would be nicer if the weight had been gone for a bit so you can enjoy it without getting all anal about calories etc.

I've added you on, enjoythesunshine:

buttonmoon78 Mon 19-Jul-10 20:00:53

Whatever. No embarrassment needed. We're all here cos we're fat binters yes? What's a bit more or less between friends? You'll make us all envy because it tends to come off quicker at first if you have more to lose. Think positive!

Have just had yummy prawn & chilli pasta. And no alcohol...

AlCrowley Mon 19-Jul-10 20:14:22

No need for embarrassment on here Dotty - we're all in the same boat.

Should we put target weights and maybe heights on the list too? Might give us a better indication of how well everyone is doing? I'm only 5'1" so my ideal weight is going to be a lot lower than someone taller - I'm aiming for the middle of my ideal weight range - 54kgs/8 stone 7lbs - perfect for me but would make someone taller look very poorly indeed.

buttonmoon78 Mon 19-Jul-10 20:38:36

Oh yes, great idea Al. My ideal range is 8st 12 (hahahahahahahaha) to 11st 1. If I saw 11st I'd be very happy. If I saw anything beginning with a 10st I'd be delighted! So my target will be... 11st. Perhaps we should do it like this?

Buttonmoon78 (5'6", 11st) : 13st 8.2
AlCrowley (5'1", 8st7) : 10st 0.8lbs (63.9kgs)
DottyDot: 16st 2lbs
StewieGriffinsMom:
Zippy539:
FourArms: 13st 10.5lbs
Enjoythesunshine: 66.8kg 10st 7.3

AlCrowley Mon 19-Jul-10 21:01:58

That looks good.

My ideal weight range is 7st 7 to 9st 6 because of my height. OK for me cause I'm a shortarse but would make anyone taller look ill. I'd love to stay the same weight and grow a few inches instead envy grin

DottyDot Mon 19-Jul-10 21:03:51

Buttonmoon78 (5'6", 11st) : 13st 8.2
AlCrowley (5'1", 8st7) : 10st 0.8lbs (63.9kgs)
DottyDot: (5'8", 13.7lbs) 16st 2lbs
StewieGriffinsMom:
Zippy539:
FourArms: 13st 10.5lbs
Enjoythesunshine: 66.8kg 10st 7.3

OK, have added my height and 'ideal' weight in - still a couple of stone off what it should be but I know that at 13 stone something I'm a size 16, which for me is bordering on skinny! grin

Erm... and haven't actually started today - but now the thread's getting going it's inspiring me to start properly tomorrow hmm grin

So are we weighing in this Friday or a week on Friday (gulp)?!

DottyDot Mon 19-Jul-10 21:11:39

god I'm so bobbins at this you know - I really was going to start being relatively good today, but had a creme caramel frappacino at Starbucks (the bastards have opened a new cafe right next door to where I work) and have eaten more Haribo than you can shake a stick at tonight...

Aaarggghhhhh confused

I'd like to join you.

I'm only 4'11" hence my goal weight is 7st, currently weigh just under 8st.

Have eaten nothing healthy today at all. So will start tomorrow. After I've had a hot chocolate at bedtime grin

AlCrowley Mon 19-Jul-10 21:17:11

Just start again tomorrow. No biggie.

That's what I do when I've had a bad day. Totally overdid it yesterday as family visited and we ended up in TGI's! Doing better today. Will be even better tomorrow i hope....

dickyduckydido Mon 19-Jul-10 21:20:10

Would anyone mind if I joined? My willpower is just 0 at the moment and I could do with some kicks up the (very ample!) bum...

My aims are

1) to record what i eat - I have joined WW online again but just haven't been using it cause I find pencil and paper easier!

2) to do some exercise...

DottyDot Mon 19-Jul-10 21:22:16

Hello! Yes, I definitely eat more sensibly when I write everything down - was doing this for a bit, lost half a stone and then stopped doing it and put it back on. Doh! So, will start again tomorrow - thanks for reminding me it works! grin

Exercise - I know it works but it's the work of the devil and I can't cope with being active as well as eating less... blush

buttonmoon78 Mon 19-Jul-10 21:26:40

Dot - Healthy weight range is a tool for hcp people. You need to focus on what you want to achieve.

Welcome Dicky & twolittlemonkeys (don't forget you need to add youself onto the list).

Re WI, I'm happy to give it a go this week and work from there. If you're not then don't feel any pressure. That's the last thing we need - more pressure!
