Normal periods after D&C...

I was just wondering how long do your periods stop before getting them again normally after a D&C...?

Any shed of light on that would be good thanks?

I had my D&C about 1 1/2 months ago and haven't had a period for the whole of July or ever since the D&C.

I proberly made no sence in the original post looking back at it, because I couldn't word it properly.

So how long after a D&C do your periods start?

Not sure why nobody has posted a helpful answer... I am fairly certain that it varies with circumstances. I waited 4 months after my first d&c before the gp suggested some investigations. All bloodwork turned out normal and sure enough my cycle resumed just in time for me to be able to date my pg with ds2. Next time I waited about 2 1/2 months. My understanding is that this may be a lot longer than with a d&C following a first trimester miscarriage but I am not 100% certain. I hope that a brilliant mner will be here soon with 'expert' advice.

I think all is well now anyway I was a bit worried before because I was getting awfull cramps and pains and wondering why when a period or nothing came, but it has kind of now. It's only really light but on and off sorta thing.

And I was just a bit concerned that it felt like forever since Ive had a period, it's about the only time Ive been happy to get my period...

I had my miscarriage on 12th November 2002, had to have a D&C on the 27th November due to 'retained products' and then my first (sort of) period came on the 10th December ... I say sort of because it was very light and lasted a couple of days.
My cycle then took a while to come right and was erratic for a few months before I got pregnant again in early May 2003 (DD born Feb 2004)

Hi zoz, I'm on CD6 of my first period after a D&C. The D&C was on 17 June so it seems I just had a slightly longer 'cycle' than usual. I was a bit concerned waiting for AF too. I've also heard that the first period can be more intense after a D&C, more PMT symptoms, cramping etc. Hope it's going well for you. Best of luck.

Ahh Yep it's totally come now (period). And geez I wish it'd go away now haha. Na but it is really heavy and really painfull and I'm all stressy and PMT'y.

It's all good though. I was just a bit worried as it seemed forever since I had a period.

zoz - didn't see this one, sorry.
I had a d&c last June and my fisrt period followed about 5 weeks later. It was a very light and very short. My next period followed 4 weeks after that and was 'normal'. Like Canadianmom said though, every woman will be different. It's good that you've had it now.
