Bereavement

This topic has opened up a whole load of memories for me..

I suffered two ectopics a few years ago, within six monts of each other. They were both in the same place on either side - just on the turn from tube to uterus. Unfortuately, they were so bad that half of one tube was removed and all of the other one, so no chance of conceiving natural anymore I'm afraid. Anyway, when I first joined mn, I didn't get involved with this topic - never feel the need, but I suddenly got interested in a couple of you and I hope I offered some support where I could. Now, I suddenly feel I need to rake up my experience again. I know it sounds morbid, but I really want to see the pictures of my operations again. I remember the consultant showing me and telling me what they had to do and showing me my notes, but I think it was all a bit of a blur then and I really really want to see them again. Maybe its because I buried my head a bit and now feel strong enough to do it. I can't work me out! I just kind of brushed it all under the carpet at the time. Thats the way I am. Nothing fazes me... or maybe it does. What am I talking about, I'm rambling now, sorry. Back to the point of this post - Can I ask to see my hospital notes and how do I go about it? Feel a bit of a fraud really - it was 4 years ago.

oh I'm sorry pcc

I believe you have hte right to see your medical records.

At work, when we need to see a client's med records, we write to the "medical records Dept" at said hospital (sorry if sounds obvious) with a form of authority...perhaps you could write to the hospital offering to come down with ID?

sorry again love

There you see, I do have a sensitive side! Thanks, I really didn't know where to start, but I will get onto the hospital tomorrow. Actually thinking about it now, its a bit bloody obvious. One of my mindees mums is a neo natal midwife - suppose she would be a good starting point. Had her kids when I was ill, so she knows all about it anyway.

What are you on? Yeah, it was pretty crap, would have had one in the same year as Kbears ds too. The first one was freaky. Thought it was a mc and I knew I was about 10 weeks, although I hadn't had that confirmed. When I had what they thought was mc, they kept calling me back as my hcg levels weren't going down, but I was absolutely fine. I carried on like that for 2 weeks before they operated to see what was going on and they still thought it was gonna be just a mc. When they opened me up, they said it was the worst one they'd ever seen and were suprised I was still alive. Second one, big time pain, could breathe, emergency rush into theatre. My poor dd, since she was 5, she has seen me have major ops twice and dh major surgery too!

of course you have a sensitive side, princess, it's a mile wide. i can understand why you'd need to see the photos again, it's something i've thought about too. my doc offered to let me see them but i hated him and (weirdly) didn't want him to show them to me cos it was too personal, iykwim? part of me would like to see them now but i have no idea why that is. i think i'm too scared to really dredge it all back up again, though.

I've done it! I phoned medical records and they are sending me a form today to fill in to get them. Suppose I better tell dh what I've done now!

Well done PCC

Hope your DH understands why you're getting them - and I never doubted you had a sensitive side
