Bereavement

Baby boy

Hi All
My lovely cousins had a beautiful baby boy at 26 weeks. He died two days ago. I need to send a card but I just don't know what to write. Everything I am putting down just seems so crass.
Can anybody suggest something, I don't want to make an already awful situation worse.
Thanks

Nothing too long. How about:

I am so sorry to hear of your tragic loss. This must be a deeply painful time for you, full of sorrow when you were expecting so much joy. I hope you that you will find some comfort in the fact that you were able to hold [insert name], even if it was for just a very short time. He will have felt your love for him.

Hi plymouth I don't think any words can make their loss and better or any worse at this point - if it were me, I'd simply write that I'm so so sorry and that I'm there for them should they need it.

I have not lost a child, but I lost my boyfriend when we were young - and the things I found most comforting were that he wasn't forgotten, both immediately after he died, and several months and years later.
