I'm so sorry for t
your loss. How very sad. I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions of things to go into the basket. I know when my mum died we got so many lovely cards but it was such a hard time I couldn't bring myself to read them all. I'm sure other people feel the opposite. Perhaps send a card and then a nice plant in spring when it's less raw and a bit of time has passed.

This is a touch convoluted, but please bear with me.

I moved out of the city due to money and health problems, back to my family home, but I kept my job in the city. Due to the distance, I sorted out a deal with a B+B close to my job to allow me to stay there at a reduced price on a regular basis. The couple who ran the B+B are two of the loveliest people I've ever met, as is their young daughter.

Because my relationship with my family, particularly my mother, is quite rocky, I tend to latch on to mother figures outside of the family and they took me under their wing, they were very good to me when I was ill and always accommodating no matter what my circumstances were.

I found out yesterday that the lady of the house died. Both herself and her husband had very aggressive forms of cancer, hers was just recently returned. She'd gone into a hospice for pain management and never came out.

Naturally, her husband and daughter are devastated, and to make matters worse her daughter broke her ankle the same day. I'm trying to think of anything I can do to help and to convey how good she was to me while I knew her. I'm trying to put together a sympathy basket for them, so far i just have the card and a small book of Elegies. I was also planning to slip in my Netflix details to the daughter and tell her she's welcome to watch as much terrible tv as she likes on my account. I feel like I should be doing more.

Any suggestions?
