Concerns re. 3.9 ds at Nursery

Dropped my ds at Nursery today at12.30 pm. As school sports started at 1.00pm some of us mothers just waited with the children. The children all had to sit on some cushions. The teachers started to sing some songs mentioning the childrens names etc. I was concerned as my ds seemed to be in a world of his own. He looked kind of lost. Most of the other children were joining in and saying the other childrens names. It was as if my ds didn't know any of the other children. He goes two days a week at 2.5 hours a time since September, surely he should know the other children by now. I was upset so I didn't ask the nursery teacher if that was what he was like all the time because I knew I would start crying. My ds is back in on Thursday so I will ask her then. What do other mams think?

maybe he was tired or just monging? It does take a lot of sophistication to form friendships and my 4 and a half year old still has no one best friend. I watched him at the school diso looking like you say and he says it was boring.

Know what you mean about crying tho I am Mrs Blubby

I don't think you should be overly concerned. He was probably distracted by what was going on and some kids just won't perform to order in public.

Our ds often dreams at school, needing reminders to do the most routine of things, and they tend to play as a group of kids rather than have special mates. Although he is one of the shyer ones he seems to be pretty popular.

Good idea to speak to the nursery but I doubt that he is as aware of this as you. It is so hard not to get concerned on their behalf though.

good luck
