I saw them ages ago, they have different lights, and you can programme the light to change colour at a set time. So you can tell your LO that they have to stay in bed til it turns green, or whatever before they can tell the time, and in the process they learn about time.
What are they called? I can't remember? Do you have any clue what i am talking about?

That is very similar imsonotelling, not exactly the same, but close!
It reminded me, when I think of it, of the grobag egg thermometer, but it was not that. It was like it.

Angel - oh that is good! it was very like that, but also had the time in the face. But...in the absence of what I am actually looking for, that might well do what I want it to...which is for DD to stay in bed later than 5:30am-6am

We had the rabbit clock for dd1 which closes it's eyes until the time you set then wakes up. Didn't work very well for us though as dd1 worked out how to wake up the rabbit and used to bring it through saying "but he's awake - look!"

Not sure about the one you're looking for, but when we read a raving review on http://blogs.babble.com/droolicious/ about the BabyZoo sleeptrainer we had to try it. We were so desperate we were did not have to think long about it. Believe it or not
this one is indeed cute and it really works. It's adorable and so thinks my 2.5 year old daughter. She does not come out of bed before the Monkey wakes up. So, i would say, just try that one. we bought it on Amazon but it's also available on mybabyzoo.com
