After going for a weeks holiday in Cornwall, my 22 month old has developed several irrational fears. He has a 3 month old sister and I was wondering if these could be attention seeking or genuine fears! Anyone had similar experience??

Hi mamabish

Having a new baby in the house could of course be a factor too. DD's been up to the most weird and wonderful things since ds (6 months) has arrived. Lately I have to stay with her at bedtime for 2 songs of her musical thingy as she's scared - she won't tell me what of though.

it's hard to tell at that age. At least you know what he's afraid of. Seems like it's anything that's longish and moves? might he just have started nightfrights and the like and be more conscious about what's good & 'evil'?

my dd used to love watching Scooby Doo, then suddenly when she was about 2 she suddenly realised that ghosts etc are scary and started snuggling up to me if one appeared...

mamabish that's really interesting. I can't help you, but my dd (just 2) has suddenly got scared of "bits" (of fluff etc on carpets, in bath etc etc). She really freaks out when she sees a "bit". We have just had a new baby (10 weeks old) too, so perhaps that is the reason for your ds's fears?
