Just wondering if anyone has any views on speech. My ds is 3 and a half and as yet is not talking. He says mum and a few other words.
Had hearing test, passed with flying colours, development session all was fine.He has a great understanding of things, really bright as far as creating things, computer skills he can take his own photos and transfer them onto photoshop on the computer and knows what things are when asked. The health visitor has referred him to a speech therapist waithing for appointment but I and dh thinks there is nothing wrong with him he's just lazy maybe.Apparently this is more of a problem with boys.
Anyone else have a child this age who is still not talking.

Bit of interesting info, apparently Einstien did not talk until he was 5

When did you or your dh start talking?

Ds didn't really talk until he was about 3 and a half either, but as I didn't talk until I was 3 (and for a gril that's late - made up for it since ) we weren't bothered. He did talk his own version of Serbo Croatian (we think ), so it was just he was talking in a language we couldn't understand.

He's now 4.5 and is talking 19 to the dozen. He still can't do "s/consonant combinations" unless we really push him and his "r" and "l" sounds arne't wonderful - but the nursery aren't worried as they say boys often don't have the physical mouth control/shape to do them.

And becasue we are seeing that he is obviously improving on a week by week basis, we're happy

Hi again.I also have a dd who is 2 in may.She has started to copy some of the words and sounds he is making and you can tell when me and dh comment on this he starts saying the word as well so as not to be out done.He has'nt been going to pre school that long and it was just me and him for a long time with no relatives or other children around him.
I don't know when i started talking ,i will have to see if my older sister remembers as i lost both my parents a few years ago so can't ask them.
My dh sister did'nt start talking until she was 3 and then it was in sentences.
Thanks for your replys
