Hi - I've been lurking on the site for awhile now and have found it very helpful/comforting to know there are others with the same sort of problems. Here's mine - DS is 7 weeks old and was a c-section because of breech presentation. He's been very colicky for several weeks now which in turn affects his sleep he often has problems napping during the day and it doesn't help that he's a major grunter at the best of times so the DH is ready to move him into his own room. We've tried infacol to little effect and I'm ready to turn to a cranial osteopath. Does anyone have any recommendations for one in the Portsmouth area? I'm prepared to drive a reasonable distance for a personal recommendation. Thanks.

I can't help with a recommendation, but I can tell you that cranial osteopathy may well make a huge difference - I know a good one, but unfortunately am up in London - hopefully someone closer to you will be able to make a suggestion.

laraeo - can't recommend anyone personally but just to say we took DS2 to a chiropractor at 3 weeks old - he had colicky symptoms and was screaming for most of the day and night - he had a jammed neck due to ventouse delivery and was drinking too much milk for his tummy because the sucking action was relieving the pain in his neck. 3 treatments later and he was like a different baby - can't recommend this type of treatment highly enough - things were so bad with us we took DS2 to A&E where they said it was just colic and said he would grow out of it at 12 weeks - thank god we didn't listen to them! Hope someone has a recommendation for you soon

Can't help with the cranial ostepopath but can suggest using Colief which is drops you add to his milk - either breast milk or formula - it breaks down the enzymes in the milk making it easier for them to digest. Our DS, now 15 weeks also suffered badly from colic and lots of wind. The Colief really helped at the time, however it is not cheap - £10 for a small bottle over the counter. DS has now grown out of the colic and is a lot less windy and is a much happier baby.

You have my sympathies - DS wouldn't sleep for longer than 2 hours in one stretch until he got to about 10 weeks but now sleeps 7-7 with a dream feed at 10.30pm - it will get better!

Thanks for all the advice. I'm so looking forward to the whole 7-7 sleep. Much as I love DH, he scoffs at any sort of "alternative" treatment, no matter how effective it may be. He just thinks we should tough it out - but then he's not the one dealing with it all day! Our GP isn't exactly approachable either but that's another story. I hope to get DS an appointment somewhere for next week and will probably try the Colief too. I recently bought Dentinox colic drops but DH hates it - no doubt it's the dill oil in them.

Can't help with recommendation, but Cran ost brilliant, ds was csection, and colicky.
Please try and get an appointment asap, it norm takes a few sessions. And it can do no harm.
Just becasue infacol doesn't seem to help, try others , try colief, or another - some suit some, others suit others.
