WHEN do they stop putting stuff in their mouths?

DS is 2.3 and he's still shoving indiscriminate choking hazards in his mouth at any given opportunity.

Should he not have stopped by now?

I try and keep everthing out of the way,and I watch him like a hawk, but he is determined to find stuff, buttons, coins, usual crap under the sofa.....

What age do they grow out of it?
