Finger food suggestions

Hiya, not sure if this is the right place to post as it's not really behaviour related but had a look elsewhere and can't find anywhere appropriate!

Just wondering what finger foods to give my 7.5 month old. At the moment he has no teeth and tends to choke on the smallest of lumps (even the 2nd stage jarred food is too lumpy and makes cough and gag). He miracullously manages bigger lumps when having finger foods though I think he's a control freak lol!!

At the minute he has baby rice cakes (although has a tendancy to eat half fairly sensibly, then shove the other half straight into his mouth and gag on it so we have to keep raking it out!) He also has cooked pasta, rusks and strips of raw pepper (which he loves the taste of but seems to gag on the skin a bit) Just wondering what is sensible and safe for babies of this age with no teeth? Thanks

Have a look at the weaning topic, it will give you loads of great tips!

soft stuff like roasted vegetables (butternut squash,s weet potato) my dd liked fist sized bits of meat at this age too. What about fruit? Have you tried sliced peaches or pears that he can suck the juice out of?

Lots of good suggestions on www.babyledweaning.co.uk

chunks of banana are good - not much chewing.

Very true, dreamy. Many of ds's bibs can testify to that!

Steamed broccoli - soft at the top and comes with its own handle!

DD loved cheese and avacado sandwiches - Use a rolling pin on them then cut into fingers then they won't fall apart.

Banana stains? But its creamy colour?! Does it dry a different colour?

I will try very soft peaches and pears- haven't tried them yet. Thanks for the links, very useful. I think I'll just keep giving him odd bits of what we have. I really want to give him more variety of 'adult' foods. It's a bit hard with him needing everything pureed, he doesn't seem to know what to do with lumps at all!

He's still really young though, I'l just keep trying I suppose. I'm sure it'll improve as he gets teeth! Thanks for the good suggestions.

It stains black would you believe, it looks like mould and it doesn't come out!
