Cranial Osteopathy

Hi, my six month old is rather a handful. I've read a lot about how cranial osteopathy could perhaps help a little. I was just wondering what the general view of this is? Is it any good or a load of rubbish? Any success stories out there? If anyone knows of any good reliable osteopaths (as I'm a bit concerned about getting ripped off!), please let me know. Thanks

OK - DS1 it worked wonders for us. We were very scepitcal, but he had colic and she managed to calm him down and after 4 sessions he was pretty much sorted. After the first session he actually laid in his pram awake witrhout crying for 5 mins. He had never ever done that before.

DS2 bowl issues it did not work, however, only had 2 sessions and was told that it probley wasnt going to help.

Where in the country are you. I have a recomendation for Wokingham

I think it's amazing. We took ds when he was only 10 days old and I was quite scepticle (sp?) but it made a massive difference. He was a ventouse birth and had real trouble bringing up wind and cried a lot. She treated him while I bf him, then sat him up and he instantly did a massive burp. Literally from that day onwards we were able to get his wind up easily and he was a far happier baby. He had two more treatments and that was it.

The General Ostepathic council only have registered osteopaths on their website so you will be able to find a reliable one in your area. Here

another one here who will sing the praises of osteopaths.

If you are near London or Tunbridge Wells then I would highly recommend seeing Stuart Korth (google him)- he specialises in babies and children and he is just fantastic

Thank you very much for the replies and for the link! I'm in Lincolnshire but am more than willing to travel to the end of the earth if someone has a really good recommendation! I've been in contact with an osteopath in Kent who seems to think he may be able to help but obviously he won't know til he has met ds.

I think you would be better with a recomendation nearer to home, as then you are not undling the baby back up in the car seat.

I am sure someone will come along with recomendations in your area

i took my baby for cranial osteopathy as he suffered with really bad reflux. It was brilliant! he visibly relaxed whilst being treated and fell asleep a couple of times. four treatments later he was 85% better. money well spent, and like you say, if you're at the same level i got too, then you'll try anything. good luck!

It certainly helped my cranky sons, who even in the depths of what appeared to be a deep sleep in my arms would jerk awake the moment I tried to lay them down. I only had a couple of sessions, but they worked a treat.
