ds is 19 months and we paint, play with playdough, "draw", cut and stick etc. will a 9 month old be able to do any of these cos i'm looking after my niece next week and i've forgotten what ds could do at this age.

Aquadraw is a good non-messy drawing task.

It will very much depend on the 9 month old, and almost all will need a lot of supervision and help to do any craft tasks - even if just to make sure they don't eat it!

How about making some dough and letting them play with that?

Depends if she's sitting yet, really.

Assuming that she is...

"painting" with jelly? (as in, hands in the jelly, squish squish)

Sand? (my daughter ate a lot of sand at this age- very uncomfortable at the other end...)

bath with loads bath toys

DS is 11mo and won't concentrate on any 'activities' as such, he is far more interested in crawling everywhere, and trying to climb up the sofa, and picking up random bits of fluff on the floor. But he loves examining new objects so maybe you could prepare a box of 'stuff' for her to pick up, chew etc?
